I only stayed one night. I wouldn't say it is worth the price, but hotels in venice are expensive. My room smelled of smoke, even though I requested a non-smoking room. Also there is no elevator. The guy at the front desk was really nice. If you are a couple, I would recommend shelling out more money and get a nicer room (please get nothing less than a 4 star hotel).

We have chosen this hotel for the price any the location which is close to train station. It was nice, but the city center is almost 30min away from the hotel by walking (you have to count to get lost on the street as well). Hotel was nice and clean

You almost get what you pay for here. Venice is expensive and this hotel was on the cheaper side, but it still could've been nicer. I could feel the springs through my mattress. The shower smelled strongly of mildew, and the shower would continuously cycle from scalding to freezing with no control by the user. The walls are paper thin so if anyone is having a conversation in the hallway or a neighboring room you can hear every little detail.

This hotel is a very good choice when you need just to stay overnight like when you take a cruise departing from Venice. The hotel is exactly what is shown on the website. Breakfast is OK. If you travel with heavy luggage, then you'll need to carry it on the stairs to your room (no lift). Other than that, this hotel is a very good option.

The hotel was well located, right next to the Santa Lucia Train Station - excellent start point for walking tour though Venice or going by train to other cities. The staff were excellent and most of them spoke English. The room we had was very clean and warm, even though it was freezing outside. It was not a large room, but very comfortable for 2 people. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were helpful in organizing tours and with general information. I highly recommend this hotel.

We were allocated the 4th floor, no elevator (I guess that is why it has only a 2 star rating) but no major problem, once we got the bags up there we were set for 4 days stay, the great advantage is that it is in a quiet side street, only 2 minute from Rail Station, and 8 minutes walk from Bus Station at Piazalla Roma . So, Funny Story, to practice my language skills I always spoke Italian to the Reception Staff, who consistently answered in English. When I asked why they replied in English they said that because my accent was so atrocious I was obviously of English Speaking origin. Ha.

Since there are no lifts, we asked for a room on the main floor. I would recommend that any senior having difficulty with stairs to stay on the main floor. We were thrilled with our room, it was next to the breakfast area with view to the garden but surprisingly not noisy at all. Check in is at 14:00 but they have made arrangements for the luggage. We are able to leave our luggage both upon arrival at 11 am and upon checking out before taking the train. The location, for us was perfect since it was close to train station, and water buses...i would recommend it highly.

Location was fantastic - just steps from the train station and the "boarding" of our luggage in preparation for the night train was easy and helpful. A map and better help with finding our way around confusing Venice would have enhanced our stay. The courtyard was fabulous - lovely way to spend a couple of hours in conversation...

Our room was spacious and clean. Daniela the receptionist was very helpful and packed a breakfast for our last day there for a early return flight. Two downfalls, no shower and I couldn't adjust the waster temp to stay hot. Blow dryer didn't work well. Location was great, close to train, bus and water taxi. If I ever went back to Venice I would stay here again. Loved it!

Photos of this hotel make an impression that this hotel is much nicer then it actually is. Our room was dirty, wallpaper coming off the walls and mold in the shower. The carpets and small breakfast rooms have new wallpaper and carpet (as shown in photos) however our actual room was gross. On a positive note, it was very close to the train station and very easy to find. HOWEVER, the hotel does not have a lift so BEWARE you may still need to carry your bags up two flights of steep stairs. We will not be staying at this hotel in the future.

Located very close to the train station and only a short ride to St Marks Square. The room was very small and did not have AC as promised. But the staff was friendly and able to recommend a good restaurant. Breakfast was great. If I came again I would probably stay somewhere cheaper, because it was a bit expensive for what you get.

We stayed in a room with a bathroom and air conditioning during the first week of July 2010. Air conditioning which works moderately well is absolutely neccessary to stay here. Be aware that currently air conditioning is only available for rooms with their own bathrooms. On the day we were leaving we needed a 4:30 am wake up call to get to the airport early. The staff had a take away continental breakfast prepared for our departure which was unexpected and nice. The location of this hotel was excellent for an early departure and great for easy use of the water buses or for walking. My son sprained his ankle the day before we arrived in Venice and was on crutches. This location was a blessing given Venice is barely accessible for people with disabilities and my husband had to piggy back him from the car rental drop off to the hotel. This hotel is very convenient to the bus station, train station and car rental drop off parking lot. Some of the staff at the reception desk spoke very good English and were very helpful. Breakfast room was very nice decor, croissants were freshly baked on site with peach jam filling only. It would have been nice to have a plain option. Coffee machine was excellent. Internet is good but it is an extra charge which is very reasonable if you remember to log off when you are done. Overall we were more than happy with our choice, we booked early and prepaid so the rate was very reasonable for Venice. Note, there is no elevator in this hotel

We left our suitcases in the hotel storage room, as our rooms were four floors above. We brought up only our backpacks, a change of clothes in plastic bags and toiletries. We checked out very early, but left all our bags in storage, to do some sightseing. When I returned to check our train tickets, the lady receptionist asked if we took the towels from our rooms. I said no, and she shrugged. We take only hotel cards as souvenirs. Besides, there was no space in any of our bags for used towels. For all we know, anyone else could have taken them, because our rooms did not lock properly, or their cleaning staff could have bundled these with the bed linen - we all left our towels on our beds.

This hotel is located very close to STAZIONE SANTA LUCIA. Just exit the station, go left, and it is the first street to the left. The Chinese restaurant located adjacent to it is also great to eat at. I found many of the staff members to be a little bit bubble headed and unknowledgeable about the city in general (italian or english). For example they kept pointing me to a laundry mat (lavanderia) that was on their municipal made map but went out of business. Some older woman around the dock where you refuel boats was able to point me in the right direction. It was a nice Hotel but I think next time I might stay on terrafirma to avoid some of those mosquitoes. OUCH. The Mestre station isn't far away so it might be worth it to look for a hotel there. Just a suggestion for you fellow travelers out there. The MOSQUITOES were horrible even in March and the area around the room gets very loud at night and morning. I felt it was quieter when I stayed adjacent to ROMA TERMINI.

Very good location if you need to catch the bus early in the morning or if you arrive by train. You don't have to walk with your suitcases. It is easy to find the hotel and to go quickly to any place you need because the vapporetto station is just very near. We get good advice from the hotel staff about restaurants and had a nice meal nearby. I think i would stay there ince more if I come to Venice.

On the pictures the rooms looked quite nice. But these are definetely not the economy rooms of which we got one. This room really needs renovation. The wallpapers are very old and the bed was terrible. Two metall bedframes with metal springs pushed together with an old thin matrace on top. Very uncomforable. A shower where the temperature constantly changed from too cold to too hot. Good things were the staff - very friendly - and the breakfast - quite good for italian standard and the close location to the bus and train station.

Overall OK experience, however, 2 areas of concern, 1) bed was far below average for comfort. It was very saggy. It almost sagged to the floor when I first sat on it. And 2) rooms were not at all soundproof. You can hear everything going on in adjacent rooms. Luckily, our neighbors were quiet, but this would have been a huge annoyance otherwise. Ultimately, would not recommend this hotel. I'm sure there are better values for the money. It was the only hotel we visted our 2 week tour through Europe that I would not recommend.

Most important quality is accessibility being about 5-7 minutes walk from Bus Station over a new bridge (very near bus station - not shown on all maps), generally smooth concrete and short patch of cobbles. Stayed on first floor with small en suite. Premises generally has olde world charm. Hot/cold drinks vending machine on ground floor. Pleasing continental breakfast - croissants made on site! Important - when returning to airport allow additional time because of limited staffing at bus ticket issuing station - obtain numbered ticket from machine and wait for sales person to call your number.

Hotel is ideally located for those travelling to Venice by train or by car (when approaching the Venice island stay on the left lane to get to the nearest possible car park. Is you stay on the right lane you will end up miles away so beware...) Hotel is located in a tiny, tiny street so a bit hard to find the first time but not too bad. Sometimes there was no warm water which wasn't a problem for me but might be for some... Breakfast was rather modest and they never refilled the bread basket once it got emptied.

The overall stay was good - but I only used the room as a base-camp. The facilities were decent and the breakfast was expansive, but the receptionist was rather cold and unhelpful. I went with a friend and we split the cost, so the price to service ratio was nevertheless agreeable. Be forewarned, however, that female staff members that are given a chair, a desk, and a slight mask of authority will likely treat other females with a note of disdain. Especially if you are younger than they are.

The Stella Alpina is VERY convient for those arriving via train, or even for those flying in to Venice and taking the bus to town. As we saw many tourists lugging their heavy bags across the city, we came to REALLY appreciate its closeness to the train station! In addition to the convenience to the train station, it is also very close to the "Vaporeto" stops. By bus, cross the big bridge and get to the train station. From the train station, go left out of the station about 150m along the Grande Canal, and you will almost immediately come to a bridge on the right, I believe the name was "Ponte Scalix" or something similar. Don't cross the bridge, but when you see it look to your left. Just a little further on you should see a relatively narrow, pedestrian only, alley, between two restaurants. For confirmation the street name should be on the upper right wall of the alley. The hotel is down the alley on your right about 50m. Internet access is not free, but they do have wireless and a computer available for use. Breakfast is excellent - a good selection of breads, croisants, sliced ham and cheese, juices, coffee/expresso/chocolate, etc. Staff for the most part are very knowledgeable and helpful, though we did have one front desk person who didn't seem too happy to be working there! TIP: Even though it is expensive, go ahead and buy the 24 - 36 hour Vaporeto pass. Riding the water bus around Venice is pretty cool!

The room I stayed in was just for sleep, because main purpose of my visit was Venezia itself and I am quite satisfied with the room, though there is no lift there!:) The receptionist helped me with my luggage to take it upstairs:))) Thank him very much! (the luggage was very heavy)

It is a good hotel for Italian standars, services provided are superior to its 2 stars. It is closed to Venezia Railway Station and the Gran Canal and near to Pl. Roma Bus Station. Employees are very polite. Sourrandings are full of restaurants, shops and further more. A very good place for love and romance...It is a good choice!

The hotel is in good location which is near the main train station. It is convenient for us to rush to the train station and went around Venice since the pier is in front of the hotel location. We stayed in a triple room which is wide enough. The breakfast was very good. So comparing with the price, it is worth to stay at the Hotel Stella Alpina. We are very much impressed in staying in this hotel. The reception officer also extended warm welcome to us. The hotel is better than I expected when I saw the hotel picture at the internet when I booked the room.

We wanted a hotel near the station and this couldn't have been more convenient. It was 2 minutes away and easy to find. The room (triple) was a good size and very quiet. The bathroom was very new and had a fantastic shower. At 115 Euros, it wasn't cheap, but for Venice it was good value. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

The location is great, 3 minutes from train station and Piazzale Roma. Surprisingly good breakfast (normally 2 stars hotels in Venice offer very poor breakfast). Venice is great in the winter, a very particular atmosphere. It's a good place if you don't like spending a lot money just for sleeping.

I think the price is high related with the single rooms (small) and I had to pay for use the computer (all hotels provide it to the customs). The advantage is it is very close to train station. Other thing is, It was difficult to find it because the name of the hotel is other (have two names)

Very pleasant stay, spacious and relatively quiet rooms. Ordinary breakfast but who cares when you have a double en suite bedroom in Venice for less than 80 Euros a night? Very convenient when you arrive by train.

This was an adequate Venice hotel. Certainly not fancy, altho the breakfast room was quite pleasant. A bit old and worn but this may be what Venice is all about. A very convenient location so no need to pull your bags all over Venice. The folks on the desk were helpful and pleasant. Price was as reasonable as you will get for a room with a bath. Street was relatively quiet.

the hotel is ok, especially because its near the station and in front of the boats that bring you everywhere in Venice. The quality of the breakfast is increased, but the gentleness of the employees of the hotel is decreased compared to four years ago. I noticed it when I called to book the hotel and also when I was there, during the breakfast time.

We choosed a Room with a shared bathroom. (shared between 3 rooms only) Very cheap for Venise, 100 meters from the Venise train station(all vaporettos stop there, all trains, all buses), very quiet (room with the window on a little garden) Breakfast very good for Italy Bed, towels, have been cleaned everyday. Climatisation in each room. The best quality/rate, perfect for young couples

Very welcoming staff, we arrived early and were told our room was ready so we got a jump on the day. Very helpful with bus and train information, lovely breakfast - very pleasant staff - good location for seeing the sights within walking distance. Third place we have stayed in Venice and would stay there again.

Pictures on venere.com are cleverly done, a standard room doesn't look anywhere as spacious as the one on the pictures, esp. the bathroom. Walls are thin so you may hear your neighbours all night. Biggest problem: NO ELEVATOR so if you can, get a room on the first or second (out of 4) floors. Rooms are pretty clean but there was a funny smell when we checked in, found out it was the chemical mosquito repellent plugged into the wall, yuck. a nicer place with great value for your money is the Locanda al Leon Hotel basically right at San Marco Square.

Well i didnt like the fact that u have to pay for WI FI .. and its 5 euros.. i mean come on, i already have my own laptop and i still have to pay? Also the bathrooms are shared.. At night the hotel closes and u have to ring the door bell and when the girl opened the door for me at around 2 30 when i came home, she was very rude to me.. I think staying in a hotel which is not so cheap workers need to be friendlier.

We Stayed one night and the location of the hotel was perfect for arriving into Venice on the first night. After arriving at the main bus station from the airport, the hotel was easy to find meaning we could off-load our luggage and check-in quickly with minimum fuss. Its only at most a 10-15 minute walk southwards along the Grand Canal from the station, and there is a water bus stop at very close proximity. The room was a basic ensuite, clean and with air conditioning. The breakfast was an absolute treat and totally unexpected. All in all we enjoyed the stay and the price seemed reasonable.

Great location & hotel in Venice, especially if you are on a short stay and budget. The breakfast was very good for being included in the price. The room is clean as is the shared bathroom. Bathroom is shared between three rooms so is mostly available; shower could use proper lighting and a shower door (curtain sticks to you the whole time).

Thanks for a good stay in Venice. Easy to find from the railway, good breakfast, very helpful and friendly personal. A small hotell with small price. We had toilet i korridor and even there it was clean and it was never occupied. The only noice was in the morning when the shopowners in the street opened up.

Unfortunately, we could not place calls from our hotel room phone - dialing with ANYTYPE of calling card; additionally, we left before breakfast was served so we've no idea what we might have missed. Some of the B&Bs we stayed in had some foods out for early risers/early departures, but not here.

Excellent hotel position for us as we were arriving by train. Being in a side street the hotel was also pretty quiet and avoided noise from the tourist throng. It was quite far from San Marco, but the ferries meant that it was easy and cheap to travel around. Once we knew our way around we found it was also not too hard to walk to the Rialto area. Overall, we would go back to Venice in a flash and would be happy to stay at Stella Alpina again.
