We ended up on the very top floor. A long way up with bags. Room was quite but outdated. Had a balcony but overlooked roofs. Was off of a very nice piazza in a nice area so the location was good. Tight squeeze in the breakfast room. Overall, good clean accomodations.

We stayed in a very nice triple. The accomodations were quite nice and the staff was extremely helpful in suggesting options for our days and in assisting us. Quiet location but close to the main points of interest. My only suggestion would be for the hotel to provide very specific directions from the vaporetti stops -- we wandered a bit through Venice the evening we arrived before finding the hotel (after asking a number of people for directions to the piazza.)

When we arrived our room was not ready (although we got there earlier than the check-in time). We then wandered around Venice for a few hours; when we came back, the room was not yet ready. When we did see the room, we were not happy with it and asked for a different one. Another was provided which was better. Pro's: Close to main areas. Friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean. Con's: Thin walls (could hear other couple ...doing things.. ahem). A little more room in the room would have been be preferable; we needed to put out suitcases on the chairs. Bathrooms needed a shower curtain! We had asked for a single room, double occupancy.

Both myself & my girlfriend adoured Venice & that was only made possible by the splendid accommodation. Even if there were renovations being carried out at the time we enjoyed the Hotel greatly.

This 3* hotel does exactly what it says on the tin and is excellent value for money. The rooms/en-suite were a good size (especially for Venice) and the breakfast, although basic, was plentiful. It is perfectly situated, being only a few minutes walk to both Piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge. The only negative feature was that the exterior of the hotel was/is undergoing renovation and at the time of our stay was completely covered by scaffolding and protective sheeting - as a result we could not open windows/shutters and we could not enjoy the view of the lovely little square. Also builders started at around 8.00am. You just need to be aware of this if you are planning to go in the next few weeks/months. Otherwise, exceptional quality and value for a 3* hotel - thoroughly recommended

We very much enjoyed the facility with which we were able to book our hotel through your site. The hotel is an excellent value for money considering that it is located in the centre of the city on the magnificent plaza Maria Formosa. Breakfast was close to excellent, the tin fruit salad can be given a miss and fresh fruit can be purchased at a fuitmonger's stand on the plaza, right in front of the hotel. We had breakfast on the terrace and were able to enjoy the plaza's busy life while eating. Our only criticism goes towards the bathroom. The shower is located in the bathtub and there is no curtain. Therefore, as soon as one has a shower, the whole bathroom is inundated. Why a bathtub? A simple enclosed shower would be far better. The cabinet above the wash bassin looked ridiculous and more or less useless. There was no space to leave a cosmetic bag and the mirror was tiny. We will not hesitate to consult your site when we next need to book for a hotel and we shall recommend it to family and friends. Patrick DESVAUX de MARIGNY and Bruno ROCCHI, Bordeaux, FRANCE

In general, over-priced but clean and nice bathroom.

This is a smashing hotel in a lovely part of Venice. We have stayed there a couple of times, and have found it a good place to stay, reasonably priced for it's location, and with helpful staff. It was a bit hot in the room, and it was difficult to have windows open at night as it let mosquitoes in (even in February), but that would be a problem everywhere. Breakfasts are lovely in the hotel and it is perfectly located about 10 minutes walk from all the best sights (San Marco, Rialto etc). I recommend a stay here.

No problems with our stay, centrally located for all we wanted to see. With windows open at night, the square did echo quite loadly to the sounds of people talking outside quite late at night, but that was the only real problem we had

This hotel can be noisy as it's situated right on a main square, but a pair of ear plugs can always get rid of that problem. Overall it represented very good value for money and was situated in an excellent location with close proximity to the main attractions.

Gerne wieder.

My only complaint is with the hotel employees, who were incompetent and unapologetic. I was unable to receive phone calls or visitors because the desk clerk could not find my name on the register. This is strange since a passport is required to check in. I missed very important communications because of their blase attitude to my being a registered, paying guest at their hotel.

The hotel was in a great location close to St.Marc's Square and as a 3star should be with the exception, it didn't fulfil on of the expectations which was the air conditioning in the room as advertised on your website. This was not working resulting in the room being sauna like. After a number of complaints to the desk and to management we did not get any satisifaction or resolution and had to sleep with open windows and shutters onto a noise square below. It was not as advertised, which stated aircon and the staff were not helpful or cooperative. I would not be recommending the Scandinavia Hotel to my friends and family for their visits to Venice.

The hotel is in a nice location and is old and charming if a tiny bit shabby. The staff were not particularly friendly but not especially rude either. They were just kind of there. We had no hot water in the shower on our second day. Otherwise, it was a nice enough place to stay.

Service is very limited - no porters in the early morning or in the evening, and the Front Desk personnel are not very helpful or interested. Breakfast is frugal and barely acceptable, but the worst sin is the absence of a lift in a very expensive, four-storey hotel. The surroundings are beautiful, but we are not coming back to Scandinavia.

USA, Sep 2002
The room, though functional, was hardly what I was expecting -- it had neither the charms of an old Venice (as advertised) nor the conveniences of a modern hotel. Stuck on a fourth floor walk-up room, the only saving grace was that the room had a balcony from which one could look onto rooftops (NOT the Campo S. Maria Formosa). The ambiance was more like that of a boarding house, and a rather squalid one at that. I suggest that the hotel be down-graded to a 2-star rating.
