We enjoyed our stay in the beautiful, big family room at the Hotel San Moisè very much. The view onto one of the canals was lovely and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. The situation of the hotel is excellent, too. I highly recommend this hotel. We will certainly stay at the San Moisè again during our next visit to Venice.

The working staff was great but the front desk people that greeted you were curt. No help what so ever. The room was postage samp small, no place to put your suitcases except piled on top of each other in the closet. All this said it had the Best location. Right on the canal where you could watch the godolas going by and listen to the singing. They had a courtyard for breakfast and it was plesant. Because of its location I would go back but book a larger room...

Our stay at this hotel was unpleasant for the following reasons: 1. The staff were incredibly rude. Our room was not cleaned and their excuse for this is that we stayed in our room till 3:30pm. This was untrue. We were out all day. They did not apologise when we complained about the room not being cleaned. 2. There was no complimentary internet access. In all other hotels there was at least 15 mins free internet access per day. 3. On the hotel details it says that the hotel is right next to the Vaporetto (water bus) stop. This is not true. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the water bus stop.

Great location near St. Marks, though a little difficult to find as in most of Venice. Room did not have great view of canal next to hotel, but was delighted to find bed above in loft - lounging area as you step in. Nice charm to room and magnificent chandelier in un-utilized faux hotel hallway dining area. However, our t.v. was broken. Building on same alley was under construction so a little odd walking pass it to get to gated patio to entrance of hotel rooms (check-in was around the corner at main entrance), and a little dark after-hours. Buffet was so-so; Dining area has it's charm, but table layout a little crowded. Waitress had a little attitude, so need to push a little to get your fresh cappuccino. Front desk was very nice. Would definitely try to stay here again next time in Venice.

A very good choice for a Venetian experience. Great location right on a canal with exciting gondola and boat traffic. The sounds of the working city were part of the attraction of the area. Breakfast was convenient and generous. Outside courtyard an unexpected bonus. Would strongly recommend.

The location of the hotel is excellent. It puts you right at the heart of San Marco district with easy access to everything. The staff all understood English, which is helpful, and they clearly wanted to help make one's stay enjoyable. Our only complaint was that our room was too hot. There is a range of prices for the rooms but no indication as to what you get for paying extra. We took the cheapest room, and it was small but fine, but it would have been nice to have had more information about what difference in quality you get for paying the difference in price.

This is an excellent hotel to stay while you visit Venice. The conditions/rooms are very good and the breakfast is delicious. We only think that public areas could be more spacious and confortable. However it´s very well located and in Venice a central surrounding is very necessary!!!

Once again, we had an excellent stay at the San Moise hotel. We were in a room at the top of the building, which was very quiet, and not a bad size for Venice standards. The hotel is in very good condition. Breakfast is typical European fare: croissants, fruit, meat and cheese, as much/little as you want. I would definately continue to stay there.

Hotel was great. Fantastic location, literally 2 mins from St Marks Square. Breakfast not very exciting (wouldn't touch the eggs and bacon with a gondola pole)! and staff not very good at maintaining coffee etc but it was alright, have had a lot worse. Was a girly holiday and our room was perfect. 2 single beds and a couch. Small table & 2 chairs. Dressing table. Opulent furnishings. Tea/coffee making facilities, minibar, had the water which wasnt overpriced. Bathroom v small but v clean and new. 3 flights of stairs but porter carried our cases up. Venice was as wonderful as ever, skint now though. If you go to the Carnival Show at the nearby Theatre dont have the buffet it was crap, in fact the show was pretty rubbishy too, you can buy 3 lovely scarves for the same price!!!!! Beware having a drink in St Marks square in the evening as they charged us 11 euros extra for the live music. Our bill was 53 euros for 4 bottles of Becks!!!!! we got free crisps and pretzels so we savoured every morsel!!! Shops were v nice and mostly v expensive, but got a lovely scarf for 20 euros. Overall it was a wonderful trip and can't wait to do it again and explore another island. San Polo next time.

We stayed at San Moise 3 nights. Perfect in every respect. Delightful light fixtures, intarsia woodwork and fabrics evoked a sense of the past. I myself have worked in SAS Radison hotels, so I was curious as to the standard. Although it is registered as a 3 star, I would give it 4. Yet it may not be suitable for disabled travelers.

San Moise was by far the nicest hotel of our Italy trip. We were amazed at the large size, amenities, and location of our quad room. The view from our elaborate room was of the bridge and canal. We had outstanding service by the bellhop, front desk, housekeeping, and breakfast crew. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. I highly recommend this hotel!!

Great location, very close to San Marco. Very good breakfast buffet. You can order your favourite capuccino or expresso coffee in addition to the Americano at the buffet table. I booked a triple room but it is barely enough space for two adults. The room is so small that moving around in the room takes some good coordination.

My husband and I and our teenage daughter are pleased with the hotel service provided by the San Moise chain in Venice. Rather than Hotel San Moise itself, arrangement was made to accommodate us in a recently renovated hotel in the San Moise chain. This is about 10 minutes away on foot, on a quiet lane off a busy street. Piazza San Marco, Ponte Rialto, and L' Accademie are within easy walking distance. Apart from the clean and modern facilities, we are pleased that the room is provided with a electric kettle to prepare boiling water so that we can relax with a cup of tea at the end of a day.

We were travelling as a family of 4, our daughters age 12 and 14. The rooms and design of the hotel was quite lavish with blown glass chandeliers and embroidered fabrics. The breakfast we had for our one night stay was the best we had during our whole trip. The hotel itself is hidden in a small alley off a main shopping district street, so it was difficult to find at first. After getting off at the water bus station as in the directions, take the street on the left, turn left, and continue walking until you see a small lantern with Hotel San Moise on it, then make a right. We had trouble finding the hotel at first, but after seeing the lantern on the top corner, it is relatively easy to find and very close to Venice's famous San Marcos square.

This was my second trip to Venezia and my first overnight stay. I was traveling with my wife and two young adult children. I chose Hotel San Moise because of its location near Piazza San Marco, the pricing, and especially because of the description of the breakfast: “The breakfast room was built inside the original water entrance and offers a spectacular view of gondolas and the daily canal life.” On arrival I was told that our rooms were in their other building. I assumed this meant next door.…. WRONG. After walking about a quarter mile over two bridges in a direction away from Piazza San Marco we arrived at a non-descript unmarked street.. There were no signs on any of the buildings and nothing to even suggest there was a hotel among them. We entered into a doorway on the right into one of the buildings. There was a glass enclosure which surrounded the doorway and extended into the entryway of the building.. On the glass was written Ca’ Fortuny. This hotel is apparently one of the chain of hotels owned and managed by the Hotels in Venice group which also owns and manages Hotel San Moise. Our rooms were on the first floor. The entrance to one of our rooms was off the main public area hallway nearly adjacent to check-in desk. The other room was entered after passing through the breakfast room—which, as an aside, was no where near a canal and had no canal view as had been advertised regarding San Moise. I asked to speak with the manager and was told that she “didn’t like to be bothered, particularly on weekends.” The staff was otherwise helpful. The breakfast decent. The rooms very small. I am grateful to have had accommodations in Venezia on this busy weekend, however, I feel that BAIT and SWITCH tactics were used in the marketing of this hotel. I did not receive what I was expecting based on the description in Venere.com. It would have been more appropriate had the hotel management advised me that there were no rooms available a

This hotel was so quiet-you almost forgot where you were. The staff was very friendly. We had them do some laundry as we were in the middle of our trip. Laundry was expensive-so if you can wait, then wait til your next stop. The room was a bit small-but we only slept and showered in it so the size did not bother us. The location was GREAT! So close to San Marco square and everything around it. We'd stay here again-just because of the location and quietness of the hotel.

A good stay, eventually! Always check directly with the San Moise which room and location you will be staying in. We arrived late in the evening and were told we would be staying in their 'other building'. After a quater mile hike we were put in different accomodation altogether, well away from any canals, into a very small room with the window shutters that only partially opened to a noisy street cafe outside. We were moved to the main hotel and a better room the following day, but only after refusing to pay for the room we had been given as it was nothing like what had been advertised, and also saying we would look for another hotel. The manager reckoned we had initially 'got what we booked' and blamed Venere for lack of clarity between 'standard' and 'superior' rooms on the website. He said the 'better' room he eventually gave us back at the San Moise itself was an upgrade on what we had booked; if so 'standard' rooms are very small! Despite offering canal views in the advertising, only one room appears to have this, although it is possible to just about see a canal from one or two of the others. Venice itself is so beautiful that the wranglings over hotel rooms didn't spoil our stay or experience of the city. At least the San Moise is well located for access to St Mark's square and we discovered the Rialto was only a short (10 minute) walk away once we found our bearings.

We spent a week deciding which hotel to choose for a special holiday and were delighted to find the canal view room available. Arriving tired after a long journey we were taken to a completely different 'sister hotel'. Although this was adequate it was not what we had chosen and had a dampening effect on the holiday. We chose this hotel for the view! Which was what we were paying for. The hotel San Moise was lovely - pity we didn't get it.

Avoid hotel at all costs. On arrival at 9pm we were told we would be staying in their "other beautiful palace" and then had a ten minute walk to another hotel. The standard of the other hotel was far below what was acceptable and our room was on the ground floor next to the breakfast room so were woken at 6am every morning. The morning after our arrival we requested to be moved to the proper San Moise hotel - staff were rude and unhelpful.

When we walked in, opened the window, had champaine looking out the window. People in the gondolas passing by were taking more pictures of us, than we did of them. Very exciting experience. Don't miss it. Also, those rooms apper to be larger.

What a wonderful stay! From the gorgeous, spacious room to the always helpful staff, to the wonderful breakfast, not to mention the perfect location, this is indeed a jewel in Venice. We will definitely book here again.

We stayed in Venice for only a weekend but it happened to be while the Carnivale was on which was excellent. The hotel was in the best spot for it as it was only a 5 minute walk to St Marks Square. The hotel was excellent. We had a room with the view of the canals which was lovely. The staff were ver welcoming and anything we needed they could help us with. I have been recommending this hotel to all my friends and would go back and stay there in a second. I loved Venice and the hotel helped make the experience there what it was. It is not just a normal hotel - it has great character!

My friend and I were absolutely in love with this hotel. In two weeks we stayed in 8 hotels all under 40 euros, and this was by far our favorite. The size of the room was great, the bathroom was amazing (with a jacuzzi bath), and the breakfast was much better than in other places. For 35 euros a person, it was an incredible deal for any city's standards.

We stayed at Hotel San Moise in January for our first visit to Venice and had a fantastic 4 night stay. The hotel was in a brilliant location for all the main site seeing , our upgraded canal view room was wonderful and plenty big anough for our needs and the staff were friendly, polite and helpful at all times. We will definately return!

I've been to so many hotels before. To me cleanliness is the most important issue. Apart from Hotel du Paris in Monte Carlo this is one of the cleanest hotels I've stayed at. Thumbs up! The breakfast was very plain but not bad.

We booked a room at the San Moise, but were moved to Ca Alvise, which was beautiful, but disappointing since it wasn't what we'd looked forward to. No view of any canal, only the back alley. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

This was our first overnight stay in Venice and our travelling friends wished to have a room with canal view. San Moise seemed to offer rooms with a quiet canal view for a very reasonable price.I booked following this advise from other reviewers. The hotel is very well located, 5 min walk from San Marco square, around a quiet corner on a canal. Our room (109) was located outside and 50m around the corner from the reception area, behind security gate, which opened onto a coutyard garden. The lower ground floor of this building houses the breakfast room. Our room, we had been told, had a larger balcony than our friends, and from reviews, it would appear the size of rooms varies dramatically at this hotel. Our room was furnished in antique Venetian style, complete with enormous venetian glass chandelier, well stocked, well priced mini-bar fridge and kettle (a first for europe, but something all Australians take for granted). The room was about 7 x 5m with enormous windows opening on to narrow balcony. We were stunned by the gorgeous room, and gobsmaked by the view, straight up this quiet canal, complete with quaint bridges and gondolas, no need to leave our room we could take all the best photos straight from here. Gondolas passed under our windows some accompanied by accordian players and classical guitarists. Our friends room, was smaller but similarly furnished and both with new bathrooms, we were both very pleased with our choice. The hotel booked us a water taxi to collect us from the front door of the hotel and take us directly to the airport where we had our car parked in the long term car park, a very satisfactory option. We felt the san moise was the best find on our trip to Italy, ignore the handbag hawkers, pay for the view and you won't be disappointed I am sure.

Not what we expected from photos. Our "triple"(really a small double) was so tiny that the wardrobe door was completely blocked by the extra bed, and we had about 18" clearance from end of beds to wall. Not even enough room to extend the folding luggage rack! Nice bathroom. Great location near St. Mark's, but tiny street leading to hotel is evidently used as an outdoor latrine by local street vendors. Guests must go outside and around the block to get to the breakfast room and salon. Breakfast large and tasty but staff had difficulty keeping it stocked. Lovely courtyard. Some rooms seem quite spacious and elegant. Be sure to confirm what kind of room you are booking! Staff was responsive and helpful, but management should be ashamed to market our room as a triple. Be aware that hotels in this area are quite expensive to reach by water taxi from the airport (around 100 euro). Water buses are cheap but crowded and awkward for luggage-burdened passengers.

We were a little appalled at the price of a room such as ours in Venice, but were very happy with it after committing to it. We probably will never return to the area, so treated it as a once-in-a-lifetime experience for 2 women from Alaska. It was perfectly lovely, and the personnel on the front desk and in service were very helpful.

We had problems communicating with the staff at breakfast and the concierge booked a taxi for the airport that never arrived however, the excellent location near St Marks square and the beautiful room more than made up for this. Our 5 year old daughter loved every minute in the hotel and didn't want to leave.

This hotel was very easy to find, very close to everything - yet very quiet. We had a little room with a great view of the canal where you could watch the gondolas go by at night. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were modern and clean. The minibar included some wine at a good price for those "emergencies". I would absolutely stay at this hotel again.

We had a triple and a double room. While the triple was very spacious, the double was very small and cramped. Also the hotel smelled. As soon as you walked into the building there was an unpleasant smell. We had to keep our windows open.

Our room was on the canal with 2 windows. We saw and heard the gondolas come by daily. It was wonderful. There was a beautiful private garden for the guests with tables, chairs, fountain, plants. There were tables in front of the hotel where you could sit and relax. It was better than I expected.

We had the tiniest room. It had 2 beds, a small table, a small nightstand, and 1 wardrobe. But no room to walk around whatsoever! We had to climb over one bed to get to the side (nightstand). The bathroom was more than adequate, and may have been bigger than the bedroom. It was clean overall. There was a small TV above a mini-fridge. The location is great -- one block behind the streets of designer shop and area. However, the knock-off bag vendors tended to hang out, or duck the cops, on the alley/street next to San Moise. They were an ok bunch and no problems; but it felt awkward and detracted the area and experience. There is a pretty canal next to the hotel. The breakfast room was nice and a good size. Nice selection on food; but the eggs were very dry. San Moise's video on their website gave an impression of a much larger, palatial hotel. It's not. It's fine, and a nice B&B. The hotel gives complimentary tickets to the Venice Casino -- worth a visit, but don't expect Vegas or Taj Mahal. On the whole, good for 130 Euros per night. But the room was really really tiny! I think we had Room #18.

The San Moise was a bit hard to find, and once we located the unsavory back alley of its address, the desk clerk sent us, with a bellhop carrying our luggage, to an entirely different, much nicer building several blocks away (at least a five minute walk). Once there, however, we had a lovely, spacious room for ourselves and our two children. The hotel was on a very quiet, small street, which we appreciated, though not so close to the Grand Canal as we'd anticipated. It was near a small square with an excellent restaurant, though. Breakfasts--the dining room, food, and small overworked staff who were nonetheless helpful--were not a strength of the hotel, but adequate.

Desk help needs to be better. On the phone while trying to conduct our business. When asked questions about locations of restaurants or even the breakfast at the location, the desk help seemed like he was being bothered and just wanted to get rid of us. He was not helpful. Other than the unhelpfulness at the front desk, everything else was plesant. I would recomend this hotel to others.

A very nice hotel close to St. Marc's square on a back street taking you away from the crowd. The hotel is situated at a canal so you have plenty of opportunity to study condolas passing by in day or evening or small vessels bringing supplies in the morning. The breakfast is good but there is no bar in the hotel, however if you talk nicely with the staff they will bring you some beer. Cleaning is not done properly and should be improved. If you want to sleep undisturbed in the morning you should keep the windows closed, however for us it was a way to understand that we really were in Venice.

We just spent 3 wonderful days in Venice at Hotel San Moise and couldn't be happier. We had spent many hours reviewing hotels on this sight and was not sure whether we would be happy with the actual hotel when we arrived, but it was excellent. I don't know if we were just lucky but travelling with my husband and 2 children(age 11 and 16) - even though the quad room was a little tight (all together in one room - don't expect any romance here!!) The room was beautifully decorated in tradition venician decor and our room had two large windows that opened onto the canal giving us a continuous stream of singing gondaliers passing by. It was amazing. The entrance was aroung the corner of the reception as noted in most reviews and that was very private and secure and had a great courtyard. We were told that this was as private house previously and you definately felt that you were spend your holiday in your own private house,(I wish) We hardly saw any other quest except at breakfast so it was very quie. Breakfast was very good in Italian standards even had eggs and sausages which was a surprises as usually its only pastries and fruit, so that may make the men happy.! The position was excellent, even though its a little walk from the taxi boat, so dont expect it to be directly at the drop off as it says on the website, but close once you get to know your way around, but definately worth the walk and we will stay here again without hesitation.

We came to Venice as a surprise trip for my husband's 40th birthday and what a fantastic choice of hotels! So central and beautiful, inside and out. Our first time in Venice and it was a magical, romantic and interesting trip! So much to see and do! We did on the main attractions plus the gondola and afternoon tea in St Mark's Square on my husband's birthday - we felt very posh! Loved every minute of it and all those flavours of icecreams!

"minimum service" provided by very few and overloaded staffs . for the price we can expect more care , and more people to take care . the only access streets to the hotel (while located in a high end and convenient area )is currently squatted by many groups of african dealers , litteraly blocking the access with their illegal business , running away whenever (not often enough obviously) some police show up in the area ..,that's creating an insecurity feeling which should be adress by the hotel management , even if they are not responsible for the situation they are responsible for the confort and safety of their paying guests ; or such specificity ( which appears to be only around this place) must be part of the hotel description ....

We were very happy with our stay overall. The hotel was hard to find (but so is every other location in Venice!), and when we got there, we discovered that they had actually placed us in a room at their sister hotel, which was several blocks away. However, they had a very helpful porter transport all of our bags, and the room itself was clean, spacious (much more so than typical European hotels), and even had a jacuzzi tub. Venice is expensive in general, but we felt that this hotel was an excellent value for the money. We would stay here again.

This was the first time at this hotel and we were very pleased. The location was an easy walk from the vaporetto, and very convenient to all other sights and shopping. This particular area was not too crowded. It was right on the canal, as I booked a room with a view and got a lovely view of the gondolas going by. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was somewhat small, but it did not really change our opinion of the hotel. The breakfast had a good selection of food and was served in the garden or inside, whichever your preference, which was very nice. We would definitely return to the Hotel San Moise.
