we booked 2 rooms and one of them with separate beds as we were a total of 3 gentleman for business travel from korea. First they show a room with 1 double bed after a sorry they take as back to reception an wait to have the key of another room but once we got in this room...again one single double bed...at the end we accepted to sleep in that room where they have separted the double room in 2 single bed but situation was really embarassing considering that on our venere reservation were very clear that we need separate beds as a total of 2 rooms and total of 3 business man. Location is very good but sorry the service and organization is not as display on the web site.

We had a wonderful time in Venice! San Marco Palace is very close to St. Mark's Square. Our rooms had a sitting area with TV, plus a separate bedroom. It was nice to have breakfast included in the price.

We stayed in the Executive Suite because we needed 4 separate beds and two bedrooms. The room was spacious and clean and the location was very convenient, especially because we were traveling with my 85 year old mother. The breakfast was minimal, although the breakfast room was pleasant. The problem we had was with the staff. Having just come from Florence where the staff was warm, welcoming and helpful, we were shocked at the rudeness of the staff here. With the exception of the bellhop who helped us to our room, we arrived after 11pm, all were less than helpful. On one occasion, my daughter needed to contact the airlines about her morning flight. We asked the desk clerk if he would look up the contact number for the airline on his computer and he refused. We explained we merely wanted the phone number so we could confirm flight details and he steadfastedly refused. We were dumbfounded. With all the money we were spending on the Excecutive Suite aside, it is a minimal request to accommodate your guest. Later that evening, a fuse must have blown and we lost our electricity. We again went down to the evening desk clerk and asked for his assistance. He came to look at the room and decided there was nothing he could do and no one he could call. We would have to make due. Don't forget I have my elderly mother with me and the Suite was in total darkness! He left and we chased after him asking if at least we may have a flashlight. I just couldn't believe the treatment we received. I would never return to that hotel. Even though the location is convenient, it really taints the trip to be confronted with such rudeness when you return back to your room after a pleasant day. Do yourself a favor and find another hotel to enjoy your stay at.

The location is brilliant. Greater 2-bedrooms rooms, conditions, furniture very simple and modest. In room is loudly, fight of bells on San Marco square. The staff very careful and close.

Staff was helpful. Gave us info about getting to the airport from the hotel and made arrangements for us. We stayed for seven nights. Everything was expensive given the dollar exchange to the euro. Overall it was a positive experience and lived up to it's four star rating.

To locate this Hotel(palace!) rather impossible as there are 4 different places belonging to the San Marco. Also to reach it by Water-Taxi is very difficult and expensive. The porters charged me 40€ for a transport of my luggage over 100 m.!!!

The location is excellent, just a few steps away from San Marco Plaza. The room was good and spacious. However, the shower is not up to standard (the shower head is mounted right next to the window and its curtain. This resulted in wet curtain and window everytime we showered. Water from the shower tends to splash on the bathroom floor)

IF YOU READ THIS PLEASE CHOOSE ANOTHER HOTEL. WE HAVE CHANGE 2 ROOM BEFORE LEAVING THE HOTEL. IT'S INCREDIBLE HOW AS A HOTEL OF THAT CATEGORY CAN HAVE SUCH PROBLEMS: NAUSEOUS SMELL IN THE BATHROOM OR ABSENCE OF (WARM) HEATING IN WINTER. THE ROOM ARE LIKE APPARTMENT BUT THIS THIS IS NOT SO USEFULL.

Great hotel, great location. We had a family suite, with plenty of space and light. We regret we stayed for only one night. It is equipped with kitchen and table and chairs. Breakfast was great. We felt ourselves assisted and taken care of. If you are willing to pay for a good hotel, this one would be a great choice.

Travelling with kids to Venice, San Marco Palace is a excellent option. The rooms are spacious and location is ideal just next to San Marco Piazza. If you take the trip to Murano (included in room rate) do not forget to negotiate very hard on prices or check in shops before you go what you are prepared to pay! Rooms can be very noisy depending on your neighbours. Overall good bargain and excellent place to stay a few days with a party of two or more.

We had several problems with the San Marco Palace: first, it's quite hard to find if you've never been to Venice. For example, when we arrived via water bus at San Marco square and called the hotel asking where it is, the front desk was of virtually no help as whoever was working told us to look for a restaurant "to the right of the church" and then walk up the street from there. There are probably 50 or more restaurants meeting that category on Piazza San Marco. It ended up taking us almost an hour to find the place (it's actually less than a 5 minute walk from the water bus stop). Second, the front desk staff was rude (particualary the women who works there during the morning hours) and not very helpful in terms of making recommendations on places to eat, etc. Third, I booked a two bedroom, two bath suite since we were traveling with another couple. What we were provided was a one bedroom suite with a pull out couch bed. Fourth, the showers had poor water pressure and never really got hot. On the postive side, the rooms were clean and modern (particulary for a European hotel). And the location of the hotel is good, particularly if you're a first time visitor to Venice, as it's literally a few steps from Piazza San Marco. While I would stay there again simply because of its location, next time, I will make sure I am provided what I actually booked and get a room with a bath that consistently has hot water.

Great location and excellent rooms for the money. Be sure to arrange porter service in advance if arriving by water taxi or vaporetto as carrying your luggage through a packed San Marco Square and over the bridge just before the hotel is just bloody brutal.

The spaciousness of the hotel suite and the terrace was impressive and the location of the hotel, literally behind StMark's Piazza, excellent. Reception could be a little more welcoming but rooms were generally quiet and service otherwise was goood: in comparison with other Italian hotels, breakfast was also good. Two practical comments for the Internet could be useful, a) that the San Marco Palace lies just behind Caffe Quadri and b) newcomers to Venice need to remember that luggage has to be personally carried from ferry landing through the alleys to their hotel. We would also go back to the San Marco Palace next time we visit Venice.

We booked 2 rooms at the San Marco Palace, one double which was light, spacious and beautifully furnished, and 1 family room which had 2 bedrooms. Not nearly as nice. The hotel has an excellent location but has no facilities whatsoever, no bar, no restaurant, and is in effect a block of apartments. I must agree with other people leaving feedback on the staff. They are not what you would call welcoming, and those at breakfast in the red suits are positively rude. In relation to other hotels that we have stayed in, it was very expensive for what it was offering.

We reserved 3 rooms for 3 couples to all be together. When we registered we were informed that 2 of the rooms were upgraded to suites, very nice. But one room was in hotel around corner. The 3rd room was around the corner, down the block, in a courtyard without good lighting and whose elevator did not work, and no waterview as shown on your picture. We tried and tried to get the hotel to understand that we wanted to be together. Finally, after much discussion, the 3rd room was upgraded to a suite, very nice, but for only one night. The second night the same 3rd couple had a choice to either go to hotel far away, or they could upgraded to executive suite with one of the other couples and share a bathroom. Meanwhile, we saw people checking out of hotel and requested their room for one night. But no good. The upgrades were very nice, but the front desk people were not. We were in Venice for only 2 nights and had to do alot of moving around.

The rooms are like apartments and are very spacious and beautifully furnished. We had three adults – 2 in the main bedroom with a queen sized bed and the other adult slept on the couch which transformed into a bed in the family room. There was a kitchen but there were no pans, cutlery etc so it wasn’t usable. There was a safe, air conditioning and a t.v. with cable t.v. channels including CNN and BBC so you can keep up with what is happening in the world. The breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of food and champagne was also offered. Apart from this room which was also the restaurant there were no public areas available. The location is excellent a 1 minute walk to San Marco square. Take directions to get to the hotel because it isn’t that easy to find. Included in the price of the room was a private boat trip to Murano (island famous for glass very near Venice) and a tour of the factory and shop of one of the most famous glass makers in Murano. I would definitely recommend the San Marco Palace Hotel.

The proximity to San Marco Square is what made us choose this hotel. But really if you are not right on the square, or don't have a canal view, anywhere between Rialto and San Marco would have been the same. The best thing about the hotel was that it offered suites, great for families and quite spacious. Next time we are in Venice though I would probably seek a canal view rather than closeness to San Marco.

I helped organize a trip to Italy for my daughter, several of her friends, their mothers and others. There were 11 of us in all and that made planning a bit dicey. The girls wanted to see Venice but many in our group were more budget conscious than others. Having been to Venice twice and having spent countless hours researching avaiable hotels, I cautioned our group that it would be very difficult to find a hotel that would be compatible with everyone's budget and at the same time offer decent accommodations. I was surprised, therefore, when I found the San Marco Palace. Its rates were higher than what some wanted to spend but it was moderatley priced compard to other comparable properties, and most of the reviews presented a positive picture of the hotel. We were surprised but by no means disappointed when we finally arrived. The hotel is located less than a minute's walk from the logia of Piazza San Marco and is tucked a short distance away on small canal. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and they are equipped with a sink, rerigerator, microwave and stove top that are concealed behind a rolltop enclosure. (OK, maybe one or more of them could stand some touch-up painting, but that did not detract from the overall quality of the rooms). Contrary to the negative reviews that I read, the staff (especially Sandro) provided very good service. They were considerate, they did not push us to accept the complimentary visit to Morano or to eat at the hotel's affiliated restaurant, and they were very helpful in helping us find restaurants away from the Piazza that could meet everyone's budget. The beds are comfortable and- again contrary to some accounts that I read- there was no street or crowd noise at all. (The side road to the hotel that is off the Piazza's logia is by no means a major pedestrian thoroughfare at night, so it is difficult to imagine what the few reviewers who complained about street noise were thinking). A buffet breakfast is served in a nice din

This small hotel is literally only a few steps from the P. San Marco. It can be difficult to find at first, as it is through the small passage next to Cafe Quadri. It is set on a small canal that has several gondolas waiting right in front of the hotel. (The hotel cannot be reach directly by water taxi since the canal is too small, but walking from the Vaperetto stop near San Marco works well.) The staff was not friendly but courteous and competent. The room (for four) was enormous, and had a balcony looking out over the rooftops of Venice. It was surprsingly quiet for its location (except for the church bells). Given the location and the size of the room, the prices were quite reasonable. Breakfast served in the dining room was average.

The location of hotel can not be better. Service can be much better. Office is closed after 11PM but nobody warns you about it! This all suites hotel a few steps from St Mark's Square was our favorite during our Italy trip. Our suite was very large, with wood floors and nice furnishings. Our room had a view of the canal. It's a beautiful hotel and in a great location, but the staff was not helpful and actually scammed the group I was with by offering us a FREE tour, which was only a boat ride to Murano. When we didn't want to buy anything, we had a difficult time getting a water bus back to the hotel.

They put us in a hotel room outside of the San Marco Palace, but one that was affiliated with them. At first, I was disappointed until we set foot inside of our suite. It was beautiful. We had a separate family room/kitchen area, a large bedroom, and a full bathroom. The only thing that would have been better is if there were cooking utensils so we could have used the kitchen! The location was wonderful!!! The only bad thing is that the people living above our suite were loud on certain nights (9pm - 12pm).

An excellent location for St Marks Square being only 50yds away and next to the waterway i.e. you could get a water taxi right to the door. We had booked a 4 bedded room but on arrival received a two bedded apartment which was even better. Very big rooms and plenty of space. We were offered by the hotel a complimentary trip to Murano by personal water taxi and given a demo of venetian glass making and tour of the museum (all free of charge). This was absolutely fabulous and a wonderful start to the holiday. I can thoroughly recommend this hotel. My only criticism would be is that the hotel is difficult to find given the location map on the website.

Just imagin awakening to the bells ringing and having an unobstructed view of Venice's famous Campanile bell tower! With the Piazza San Marco literally just few footsteps away, this hotel is perfectly situated for first-time, or in our case, return visitors alike. Our suite was spacious and immaculate, with a minibar and a kitchenette if we had chosen to do our own cooking. The room was exceptionally quiet; our stay thoroughly relaxing. We have always received a warm welcome from the staff. In a city that can be expensive, the Residencia San Marco is an extremely charming, comfortable, and well-priced accomodation. The location is excellent. It's only a few steps away from the San Marco square and a short walk to the Grand Canal. We had a triple room which is a luxurious room. However, we did not have reliable hot water in the bath. One night, my sister had to finish the shower in freezing cold water. Also, people at the front desk were not very friendly nor helpful. As we had to leave for Venice airport early in the moring, I brought the issue to the front desk, hoping that they would voluntarily offer help in arranging for the transportation. Instead, I was told to walk to the water taxi stand by the Grand Canal to figure things out myself. I did that and was told at the water taxi stand to call and make reservation and that the trip cost about 85 Euros. As I am not confident in communicating wtih Italians in English on the phone, and do not wish to miss our planes due to the mis-communication, I asked the front desk of the hotel to make the reservation for us. I was told that I had to pay 110 Euros in cash at the front desk, which I agreed, just to get peace of mind. Because I did not get a fomal receipt indicating the sum, I suspect that the front desk actually earned the "commision" from the reservation. I will not stay at this hotel in my future visit to Venice. I prefer a modest hotel that provides good and honest basic service to the customers.

A bit difficult to locate at first but having found it it was in a very convenient location. We had a deluxe suite so it was excellent accomodation. I thought there would be a restaurant for the hotel but it only had a breakfast room, but, with all the restaurants within easy reach it really didn't matter. There was absolutely no flexibility in departure time, ie using the room for a little longer after 11am even though the hotel was far from full (given the time of year).

We picked Venice as a ROMANTIC place to go for our engagement. We were given a family appartment not the double room we wanted. The appartment had a small bedroom with two other rooms including a kitchen. We wanted a good size bedroom. The appartment would have been good for a family in the summer but not good for this time of year. We had NO HOT WATER for three days not good when we had intended to dress up and enjoy our engagement celebrations. We were so upset we left early. I wanted to make this so special for my partner but it did not work out well even the restaurant was closed. I have always imagined Italy as the place of opera and romance, I can't say that I will remember it this way.

Probably one of the best location in Venise, you can walk around everywere from this very central but quiet hotel. We had the surprise to be given a beautiful junior suite for the price of a double room, simply because it was our wedding's anniversary ! You also have another surprise included in the room's price (the pity is that we discovered this by coincidence !!), it is a free ride in a private boat to visit a glass factory in Murano, (but you don't feel obliged to buy anyhing !) It is simply magic.... Nevertheless, the public areas are quite small, the breakfast could be a bit more "gorgeous" for a "palace", and there is no retaurant at all in the hotel, despite a photo on the webpages (this restaurant is actually located at 200 meters from the hotel) but these are really the only weakpoints according to us, and this is negligeable ! My husband and I booked this hotel two weeks before our stay without knowing much about Venice. We had a suite with one queen bedded room and a large sitting area with two twin beds, a sofa bed and a dining table with four chairs and a full kitchen. The hotel is right off San Marco Square and is very conveniently located. The rooms were very large and could easily accommodate ourselves and our two adult daughters. For anyone visiting Venice with children this hotel is great and I would highly recommend it. It was quiet and spotlessly clean and the air-conditioning worked great. The bathroom was not luxurious but it was perfect for our needs. The hotel staff was very accommodating and the continental breakfast was adequate and served in a pleasant downstairs room. The location of this hotel is wonderful. The furnishings are not luxurious ( the bathroom is not marble) but they are clean and not worn or old. I am picky about where I stay-usually in four or five star hotels- and I would stay here again. This is a great little hotel for anyone visiting Venice.

Our stay at the San Marco Palace made our stay in Venice that much more magical. The hotel staff was very welcoming and helpful. The room was spacious and clean and it had a small balcony overlooking a little canal, it was very nice. It was conveniently located right behind Piazza San Marco, steps away from the music and beauty of the Piazza.

Great location, spacious clean rooms and simple, decent breakfast to start off the day. Booking through Venere.it gave us a good price for the location and the quality of the hotel. Was more of a little suite than a hotel. Great place to stay when in Venice!

1. Breakfast was not enought prepared at the exact time of the beginning. 2. Hot water was not offerred sufficiently. In the middle of bathing, hot water stopped coming.
