We stayed there for two nights at the end of the carnival. The location is perfect to visit Venice: our room in the annex was simple but furnished with taste and had a view on a small canal. We liked the tea making facilities in the bedroom and very helpful staff that provided us with rubber boots to enable us to walk around during the massive aqua alta. In short: great value for money!

The Hotel was beautiful and we would recommend it to anyone. So clean and the breakfasts were lovely. The rooms were beautiful. On arriving we were asked if we would like a cup of coffee which was very welcome. The only downside was that the noise from the person on the reception desk (which was 24 hour) was rather annoying while we were trying to sleep, we were in room 102. Also the directions on the web site to get off at St Mark's is a bit awkward with luggage and there are a number of bridges and it is too far when you don't know where you are going. It is far better to get off at the Rialto stop. Then go down the small street in front of the ACTV Line 1 Vaporetto stop, called Calle Bembo, there is a sign in the floor directing you to a Trattoria and go straight down this street which leads directly into the street Calle dei Fabbri, where the hotel is. Also the building number of 4671 helps. This takes 3 minutes to get to the hotel and there are no bridges that way and you will find Hotel San Luca on your right.

I cannot thank the staff of Hotel San Luca enough for making our stay there memorable, from a room with a view , help with luggage, a much needed drink. It is not often a one night stay makes you feel so at home, but they did look out for us never the less. Thanks for a wonderful time. My only regret is that I did not do the stupendous breakfast spread I was surprised with to better use. Bring your appetite, as good as any 5 star. I remember worrying about not finding the hotel, but if the cruise ship could deliver our luggage than it can not be that hard- just remember the numbers change over the bridge. I would like to thank the proprietor and staff again for all the help in getting our luggage to the annex. The directions and assistance the next day to the water bus to the airport was most appreciated, above and beyond the call. If ever back in Venice it is a very central location allows easy access to water bus for airport(no bridges) and if you want to hit the heavy tourist areas you can, or just wander the less travelled routes.

It was a little hard to find, with just a single door on the street level. The door (the only thing with the hotel name on it) was open when we arrived so we couldn't see it and the numbering system in Venice doesn't seem to be consistently consecutive! Also, the breakfast area is small and there was a damp smell upon entry (it's Venice) but not anywhere else. Despite this, we had an excellent stay. The staff is very friendly and very helpful and the location is convenient as a starting point to anywhere in Venice.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Hotel San Luca in August at the height of tourist season in Venice. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay here and I would recommend it. The front desk staff was very helpful and rooms were very clean. The best thing was opening the window and looking down at the gondolas beneth you on the canal. That was worth the room in and of itself. The only problem you may run into is finding the hotel when you first arrive as it is difficult to understand how to get there when you're new to Venice. Follow the directions to the letter and look for a VERY small sign that says HOTEL SAN LUCA on the door. Your actual room won't be there (it's really a few buildings down), but the staff will take you to your place. Once you get yourself adjusted to Venice, you will find you have no trouble locating your spot and that it is rather ideal. I would recommend this spot to a friend as a good value for the money.

We only stayed for 4 days, but it was nice. Clean rooms, nice staff, warm welcome, even at nearly 10 pm. Only one fly in the ointment, the cleaner was in the habit of opening the window and that meant mosquitoes. We killed about 5, helped by the "Vape" mozzy killer left in the room, which doesn't work too well with the air conditioning turned on. Note, this is not a fault with the hotel, Venice has mosquitoes, it's where they live. The breakfast area could get busy, only really room for a dozen people and you may have to wait, maybe 10 minutes.

The location of the hotel is excellent between Rialto Boat dock and St. Mark's square. However, should have taken 5 mins to find but because the hotel has no sign outside it took 40 mins to find and only after a couple of phone calls. The street where the hotel is although excellently located is quite off putting when arriving after a train and boat trip. Staff very helpful and friendly, rooms very clean, no complaints about the hotel. St.Mark's Square is terrible by day, not particularly attractive, many plaza mayor's in Spain and Italy are much more attractive. The queues in July for the Ducal Palace and the Basilica make it almost impossible to visit them. St. Mark's Square is much more enchanting at night. The other side of the Rialto Bridge is more interesting, as is the area around the Guggenheim Museum. Lots to offer, don't waste time queueing. The waterfront around Rialto and St. Mark's buzzing with interest as are the many waterfronts around Venice.

We've never been to Venice before, and have never stayed in any hotel at this daily rate, so it's difficult to compare value for the money. We booked relatively late (about 3 weeks before a stay in late May-early June, so our choices in Venice were limited in general, and we opted to pay more rather than be "far" from main sights or to stay in a place that didn't offer amenities like private baths, etc. The San Luca staff is fantastic, multilingual, very helpful, personable. Room was clean and very spacious, with plenty of room in the bathroom as well. Close to but not crowded by heavily visited spots like San Marco and Rialto. Many nice shops and eateries nearby. Highly recommended in all ways relating to quality of service, amenities, and location... but this was by far the most-expensive room of our entire trip, which included centralized rooms in Rome and Florence, and I don't know if that's standard for Venice or not.

Hotel San Luca is a small, relatively new hotel in Venice, on the 2nd floor of a typical building. It was very clean, decorated in typical Venetian style, nice size room & bathroom (we had a triple) & A/C worked well. Service was good; breakfast was typical for European hotel. Good location in tourist area & easy to find (which is not always the case in Venice) from water taxi stop (Rialto). Not the cheapest hotel in Venice, but not the most expensive either.

We are gratefull to the staff and owner for hospitality and very friendly service. Rooms are very clean. Furniture is new. Location of hotel is outstanding. Historical part of the town and popular commercial part is next to hotel. We will recomend this hotel for our friends and contacts. We use this opportunity to send our gratitude to the owner of Hotel San Luca and a staff and we hope to see them again. Alex & Lucia Piletsky

I traveled with my sister and teenaged niece and we stayed three nights, in one room, at Hotel San Luca. Room a bit small (typical of Europe) for three single beds but very clean and everything worked (new property in January 2009). Air conditioner was great and very welcome in the afternoons after exploring Venice. Shower in bathroom was a drain in between the toilet and sink with high and low shower nozzles. No curtain, so water was everywhere! Perhaps we had a handicapped room... not sure. Bathroom was beautiful however, completely covered in marble. Staff was friendly and most spoke English. Internet was free and worked great on my laptop in our room. Breakfast was very good with deli meats and cheese, a different egg dish everyday and fresh bread and croissants. They actually have an espresso/cappucino machine so we had cappuccino everyday. NOT instant. Delicious!! There is no lift, but a sort of device on the rail to transport handicapped persons if necessary. You have to go up three very short flights of stairs to get to the lobby. To reach the hotel, get off the vaporetto at the Rialto stop and proceed to the right, along the canal. Soon after crossing a short bridge over a small canal, turn left on Calle Bembo (a very narrow street you might miss if you blink). It is perhaps a two minute walk once you are on Calle Bembo. The hotel is very centrally located and you can get to either Rialto or Piazza San Marco in less than five minutes. It is near everything! I am a seasoned traveler (airline employee for thirty years) and would recommend Hotel San Luca to friends (I already have). I will stay there again the next time I visit Venice.
