We have stayed at the Hotel Riviera 3 times over the last dozen or so years. The first time we stayed it still had the Campari sign on the roof. It has the best location on Lido. Very convenient. Unfortunately it is starting to show it's age. Rooms need updating and the exterior needs refurbishing. Fortunately it looks like they have started the exterior remodel. We hope they will follow up with the rooms. Then the prices will go up to the Panorama Hotel levels. Which is a nicer option. We would still stay here again. Prices are good. The people are friendly. And the location is hard to beat on Lido.

I have to say that staying on the Lido was a great idea. We liked staying on the island. The hotel was clean but very outdated. Bathroom was small and the shower needs a door not a curtain. The floor was flooding following a shower due to the curtain. The hair dryer was in-operable due to it overheating. They did bring another one after some discussion.

Very convenient location:close to Lido beach, away from the crowd of main islands, right next to public transports to San Marco (20mn, nice trip)and other places( many vaperoto lines from Lido). Nice breakfast buffet and breakfast room. you have to pay to use the computer in the entrance hall (2€/15mn etc)and for the map of the city!

Riviera is a good hotel with helpful staff. The rooms are nice and clean. The location is just across the lido ferry station. If u prefer to stay at Lido,as we personally liked the island espp on saturday night. The pubs are good and a very lively night life. The breakfast was very nice too.The only problem with our room was that the air conditioner was not working properly but it didn't bother us much. But surely need to change to darker curtains to cover early morning sun rays.

We were really satisfied with the hotel and the staff as well. Please be aware of the fact that the hotel situates next to the Lido's busiest vaporetto and bus stop. There was a wide choice of cakes and fresh fruits for breakfast, but we did not understand why the kitchen staff had cooked srambled eggs only every other day or rarer.

We stayed two nights here in the beginning of July. The hotel is situated on the island of Lido, a 5 min ferry/waterbus ride from St Marco's square. The hotel is located just opposite to the main Lido waterbus stop. The island itself was a VERY pleasant surprise with very long ab well maintained beaches. The main street is packed with restaurants, shops and bars, and is packed during summer from sunbathers of all ages. The architecture is a nice contrast compared to the "main" Venice, and is actually very beautiful. Well worth the money. The waterbuses operate everyday and the ride to the center of Venice is fast and easy. The hotel is VERY well maintained and the staff very polite and well spoken. Excellent breakfast. We would (and will) definately stay here again.

I traveled with my grown up daughter. We spent 3 nights at the Riviera. We had a large room with a balcony filled with flowers, a table and chairs, which we had not expected at all. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the breakfast buffet was great. The hotel is located very near the vaporetto station and a short walk from the beach. I think it´s great value for the money.

The Hotel Riviera is an excellent hotel located right across from the main water taxi station on the Lido. We were able to use the (venicelink.com) Alilaguna water taxi to go to and from Venice, Murano and Marco Polo airport. The personnel at the hotel provided friendly and helpful advice on places to eat and things to do and see. The rooms and the bathroom were clean and the breakfast room and food was excellent (full breakfast buffet). We booked the loon view room with a view looking out on the Grand Canal of Venice (Fantastic View). I would stay at Hotel Riviera again and would recommend the to friends as a place to stay while visiting Venice.

Excellent value for money. Hotel room spacious clean and comfortable. We had a top floor room with double aspect and great views to Venice. Hotel is opposite the vaporetti so you can expect to pick up some noise but not that significant. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfasts typically continental but overall ok. Venice lido a great place to stay to visit Venice. Water Taxi only 10 minutes to St Marks square. Island itself quite pleasant.Would I recommend the hotel to a friend - YES

A good, very efficient hotel. Any queries or problems were dealt with very quickly and without fuss. Hotel is situated directly opposite vaporetto stop so is very convenient for hops over to Venice yet is also 10 mins walk to Lido beach. Front rooms may be noisy for light sleepers as there is a road junction outside and you can hear the boats arriving and departing until about midnight. Good value, very convenient - fresh and good variety in the breakfast buffet. Reasonable restaurants and good cafes nearby.

This was my third stay at the Hotel Riveria and that in itself should speak to the suitability of the hotel. The staff was very hospitable. The rooms while not spacious were larger than most European rooms and tastefully decorated. The hotel is very well kept and clean. Breakfast is adequate with many choices of pastries. Excellent location directly across the street from the vaporetto station. Many choices of restaurants and grocery facilities nearby. I look forward to my next visit to the Hotel Riveria.

Excellent hotel, great location, and great price. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Excellent breakfast included in the price of the room. The room was very spacious and clean but the shower was very small. Staff is very friendly and very helpful. Everyone we encountered spoke perfect english. Hotel Riviera is right across the street from the vaporetto stop and is only a 15 minute ride to Venice. The island of Lido is very clean and quiet and is a nice break from the hussle and bussle of Venice.

We stayed at the Riviera at the end of October for my wifes birthday. The only reason this hotel lost points was the fact that it was a little noisey due to the bus station over the road. However in saying this, the noise isn't terrible, just a little distracting to be honest. The hotel is clan, tidy and extremly spacious. We stayed in a superiour room, so I can't talk about the other rooms. There was plenty of choice for breakfast. The Lido is a welcome change from the hussle of Venice at the end of the night. We ate at Roxy's about a 2 mins walk from the hotel, which was ok! But be aware that all of the shops shut at 8 so make sure you get drinks etc for the room before this... Venice it self was fantastic, and the hotel was easy to find on the number 51 water bus! I would definately return to the hotel.

Charming hotel, welcoming staff. European breakfast served in a bright elegant room. Hotel is right across from the vaporetto station, fifteen minutes from San Marco by water. We never waited more than five minutes for a boat. Of the four European hotels we stayed at on our trip, this was our favorite by far! I would definitely recommend the Riviera.

I would definitely stay at the Hotel Riveria again. Although my "single" room was barely more than a large closet, I was able to change to a larger room with a view for a suplement of 50 euro/night... a little steep in my opinion. Twin sized beds were very small & hard. Staff was very cordial and hotel was very clean. The Lido area is undergoing much restoration and repair of the streets so the area was VERY NOISY, but that is not within the control of the property.Breakfast was adequate but nothing special. Fantastic location a good choice for any traveler. As a frequent traveler to Venice, I would recommend the Riveria.

We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our room was very spacious and there was a bottle of prosecco on ice! A very welcoming touch. Yes it was noisy but that is to be expected given it's location and the renovation of the waterbus terminal. The double glazing worked well. The quality of the breakfast and the breakfast room was much better than our previous hotels in Venice. We would stay here again.

Great hotel, the rooms are clean and very homey and we had a great view from our window, the bathroom looked like new. The breakfast is very generous and tasty. the vaporetto is just across the street, it was like staying at the city but at the prices of the Lido. The provided baby cot was great, the baby slept very well. We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel, many thanks !!!

We had a lovely room, with a spacious private balcony, overlooking the water. The balcony had room for a table and 4 chairs, bench, numerous potted plants and a chaise with table. The room itself was spacious and the bathroom facilities very modern. Loved the heated towel warmers. The staff, especially the wonderful women who work in the breakfast room and then later clean the rooms, were especially helpful when our niece became ill during our stay. A doctor was called to visit us at the hotel and she was on the road to recovery within 2 days. The hotel is a refreshing oasis from the hustle and bustle of Venice and is only a short vaparetto ride away. The reason that the noise rating is low is because of the construction at the vaparetto stop just yards from our room. It should be completed soon.

Stayed in several places in Italy on this holiday (& a few in Lido). The Riviera has a great location just across from the boat stop. The staff were very friendly and allowed us to check in at 10am which we didn't expect at all. (would have been happy to just leave our bags) In comparison to other places we stayed, the room was spacious .Ok yes, the decor is dated, but overall, it was a great price, was clean, breakfast was good and the location is perfect, so we were happy. Also, they offer a late check out, so no pressure on that side. Room had working AC also which is a must in August. Would stay again for sure and would recommend it.

Firstly please note that I comment from an Asian's perspective and may differ from others. Generally, the Staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean but aging (not dilapitated but antique like). The surrounding is spacious near boat stations and restaurants. Breakfast is not suitable for people looking for a sumptous American Breakfast. Overall I will describe this as a Pleasant Hotel perhaps a consideration if you like to stay in Lido.

We rented a car so we took a ferry to Lido. Parking nearby the hotel is subject to car park coupon (except on Sunday). We stayed in a small room at the corner of the building. Too small to our liking (we had little space to walk after we put all our pieces of luggage in the room). Location is excellent as it is opposite the vaporetto station. We especially liked the hotel decoration and furniture: they blend well with the Venice "atmosphere". Staff were courteous and competent.

I recently travelled to Venice on May 19th for 6 days. The Riviera Hotel is just what you may need to spend a very nice stay. It is quite, very clean, rooms are large enough, reception and other personnel are very nice; vaporetto station very near as well as bus and bike renting. Good ice creams in the Gran Viale. The Lido is a quite pleasant place to see too. 10 mn far from Venice ST Marc; every part of Venice easily accessible. I wish you all a very nice stay at the Riviera Hotel. I strongly recommand it!Before you leave think of buying an illimited transport ticket on the Net.

I have stayed in the Riviera on a number of occasions - mostly through work. It is a very well-located friendly hotel. Rooms are clean and functional without being luxurious while the breakfast buffet is excellent. The Lido provides a different pace from Venice and the Riviera is perfectly situated to experience both.

I have to say we had a wonderful stay while in Venice. The Hotel was in a perfect location and only a 2min walk from the dock. You can see the hotel from the dock, to the right. The hotel had a perfect breakfast and the staff was very friendly. The Island of Lido is perfect for traveling and staying in Venice. Staying on Lido is easy and the cost of food is much more reasonable than in Venice. Around the hotel were many nice small restaurants. You can also explore the island and take a bike ride and walk to the beach from the hotel in 5min. This was a great hotel for the price and the location. I would recommend this to friends and was happy with my visit. I would recommend any of the hotels on Lido for the price and the ease of finding the hotel where finding a hotel in Venice can be a challenge. If you are a photographer you should visit the island of Burano for a great photo opportunity of the beautiful multi color houses. Take time to relax and enjoy your stay in one of the most beautiful places in Italy.

This hotel is very well located, on Lido, near a stop of vaporetti, in 10 minutes of the Piazza San Marco, with view on the lagoon. Very ample, comfortable rooms. Nice view. Very quiet and very easy to get to since the airport. Ideal for baggages, contrary in the center of Venice.

This was my third stay at the Riviera over the years. A great hotel on the Lido--the best breakfast I had in Italy. Directly across the street from the vaporetto (#51)--about 30 minutes from San Marco. Don't miss the beach (about 10 minute walk from the hotel). This will always be my first choice when visiting Venice--easy to get to & from--any hour of the day or night, less crowded and fewer tourists than other areas of Venice.

Loved the location, it was great to be able to walk down the 'main street' that the hotel was on to get some food and to walk to the end of that street to get to the beach. I don't know if this is the case with all of the queen sized beds in the hotel, but in the four rooms that I had access to during my stay, all four queen-sized beds were made up of two twin sized beds. This made sleeping with my 11 month old son and husband uncomfortable. Other than that, the hotel stay was wonderful!

The family room (no. 16) was small (10-12 qm, extra room for the children 5-6 qm) but very quiet and clean and with a working air condition. New spacous bathroom. Very friendly staff and good breakfast. Perfekt for visiting venice, because situated 100 m from the vaporetto-station lido (Line 1 and others) and 15 min walk to the public beach.

Public rooms were luxuriously appointed. Staff friendly & helpful once the initial meeting had passed. Our quad romm was in the attic, lift to the last (4th) floor and up some stairs, but no problem because of staff helpfulness. Room was spacious, terrific view of the lagoon & environs, incredibly well cooled (a relief after the heat in Venice), beautifully decorated and very quiet. The disappointment was the bathroom: not directly connected to the room, across a tiny but theoretically public corridor (there was only one other door, marked private, probably storage). It was infernally hot (at least swim suits dried well) and the plumbing didn't work well: neither hot nor cold water, something in between. At the rate we were paying one could expect a working shower! But the children thought it was fun that you could stand on the toilet seat and look over the roof tiles at the church bell tolling. Great views from other public areas. Otherwise I'd recommend it very much. Parking in the Lido is very expensive and complicated with a type of scratch card per hour to be displayed in the car, available from the desk. (12 Euro per day) But plenty of places available. This needs to be done the evening prior to the next day, quite tiring after a long day. The beach is 20 mins walking, well kept but expensive for a full day. Typ: no ned to buy water all the time, there are several fountains with drinking water available in Venice, generally in Campos or smaller plazzas, easy to refill bottles. Public toilets are expensive too. The 3 day vaporetto tickets (like the Uk Oyster touch in touch out system) are good value if you intend to travel about. No reductions for children unless they are very small. Officials do check constantly!

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The place is very clean and the staff is friendly and extremly helpful. It's worth booking the lagoon view. We loved the view over the lagoon where you can see the Piazza of San Marco in the distance. The hotel is located opposite the watertaxi and bus station which is convenient but can also be a bit noisy. Lido is a good base from which to explore Venice. We recommend the hotel and would stay there again

The personnel at the front desk were not very helpful - asking what the weather report said about the weather made the clerk to look out of the window?? – we had a feeling that we met the Italian version of Faulty Towers. But the room was fine and the breakfast was fine – there was a niche balcony with a table and some chairs overlooking the bay towards Venice There was some noise from the street during the night.

The hotel is perfectly situated with a wonderful view to Venice. I it just over the road to the vaporetti station and the bus to go round the island, therefore is is a not a quiet place but there have been no problems to sleep due to good closing windows and good working air condition. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. The room we had was spacious and well kept and although the bathroom was very small, there was nothing missing. The hotel was clean and looked well kept therefore I would recommend it and will stay there again next time.

We had a wonderful stay at the Riviera. It was clearly once a very high-end resort hotel; it is beginning to show its age a litle bit, but it is still a very classy place. The sound insulation between rooms is unfortunately very poor.

Perfect spot for a hotel to visit Venice; directly at the vaporetto station; we could move-in at 12 noon and could drop our luggage on our last day from move-out at noon until 5 p.m.

Our two triple rooms were spacious and well furnished. The Riviera is a 15-minute vaporetto ride from St. Mark's Place, so we would leave the hotel in the morning for sightseeing and only return in the evening. There were several good restaurants near the hotel as well as a supermarket, and the hotel is only 5 minutes from the vaporetto stop. The only thing I did not like was the breakfast--the choice was not big and there was NO BREAD--no rolls, no croissants, nothing. I ended up getting a loaf of bread at the supermarket and bringing it to breakfast each day. Overall, though, we enjoyed our visit and would recommend this hotel to others.

My wife and I spent 4 nights in early October and were joined by two of our children and their partners for two nights. The hotel is clean and the room cleaning was done properly. We enjoyed our stay (except a problem between one of our party and another guest not being dealt with very well by the night porter). The breakfast was good compared with most continental breakfasts. The lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the room is disappointing (although there is a cafe/bar just across the road which is very reasonable and open from about 7am to 2am). The hotels position is excellent for accessing Venice (the waterbus stop is outside the hotel and it is only 5 minutes to the first stop on Venice and 12 minutes to St Marks.)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was a delight. Suberbly placed for the water bus stop, the breakfast was quite the best I have had while staying in Venice and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The hotel is decorated in Italian-ornate style which may not be to personal taste. I will return and would recommend to all.

The hotel is right across the street from the ferry terminal coming in from Venice. The room we stayed in offered an amazing view of the sunset over the water. The room is clean and the staff is friendly. The room facing the street was quite noisy and you could hear voices passing through the street almost all night long. I would not recommend the place if you are looking for a quiet night of sleep.

This is a perfectly situated hotel at a great cost. So much less expensive than Venice, and so much calmer. The beach is super close by and huge, there are restaurants and coffee shops at the doorstep. It is a lovely hotel, the room was huge. It is in fact right across the street from the Vaporetto stop. All I can say wasn't so great, and it wasn't the fault of the hotel... there is a bar or 2 that seemed to stay open until 7am. Our room faced the back which I had requested thinking it would be quieter. My mistake, it was noisy all night long, people talking loudly. The front would have been much quieter. All the traffic dies down on the main street at nightfall. Again I highly recommend this hotel and staying at the island of Lido. If I even find myself in Venice again, I won't even look anywhere else but the Riviera. A great experience.

The Riviera was essentially just as advertised. The comments from prior guests were invaluable to us and we were not at all disappointed. The location is awesome and surrounding Lido is as well...very convenient to get to Venice. The room was a tad small and dated but the bathroom was clean and modern-enough; the bed was comfortable; and the breakfast was a great start to the day and the staff was always there to make sure everything was replenished. A great stay if you don't want to bust the bank.

We had a really lovely holiday in Venice and the hotel was excellent, the hotel was on The Lido island ,a ten minute boat ride from the centre of venice and easily got to from the airport On the airport boat service. We spent our days on the beach and got the boat in the evenings to The centre. One thing about the hotel is that they dont allow you to use your own iron (you have to use the hotel's laundry service!I think that this is a very Italian hotel custom. The night porter in the hotel was very friendly and helpful.

Looks a bit tatty from the outside but inside it is lovely, very venetian in style. It is in an excellent location being across the road from the boat station for visiting Venice and surrounding areas. Shops and restaurants are all within 2 mins walk. Beach is about 10 min walk. We had a room for 4 people and was adequate in size. From our room we had a lovely view of the lagoon and Venice in the distance. Room also had airconditioning and a good size bathroom with shower. Great breakfast, good variety of food. Lido is a lovely little island and a lot quieter than Venice. Would recommend to anyone as a good base from which to explore Venice etc. as only 10 min boat ride into Venice itself. We had a lovely two days stay there before moving on.

The reception was efficient but could have been friendlier considering that it was a holiday not business hotel. The hotel surcharges(4%)for paying the hotel bill using American Express travellers cheques even if they are in euros, which I feel is outrageous. The hotel is ideally situated for commuting to Venice.

Enjoyed staying out of Venice on the Lido. We ate on the Lido instead of the much pricer city of Venice. The morning Vapporetto ride was a pleasant experience to get us ready for the tourist bustle of the city itself. Our stay at the Riviera was pleasant and I would recommend it to anyone wishing to avoid the overpriced Venician experience. We also enjoyed the other residents, especially the older ladies from England and their Need for afternnon tea.

We liked the hotel and location very much. This hotel is the perfect place to stay when visiting Lido and Venice. It is close enough to Venice to be convenient, but the location is far enough that it is away from the Venice tourist mob. The restaurants in the area are excellent. I would recommend this hotel to all.

This is a very nice hotel. However the first night we had a room facing the Boat Bus Station. The view is absolutely fantastic, but it is rather noisy. We asked to change room, and this was no problem. We got a nice quite room facing the other side of the hotel.

Overall a very nice stay. Reasonable prices for Venice and great to stay on the Lido - good to get away from the hussle & bussle. Strangely, best day for us was hiring bikes and going to each end of the Lido - bikes not allowed on Venice itself! Found an excellent fish restaurant towards the south of the Lido and just chilled out all afternoon eating and drinking. Hotel slightly dated and staff a little on the stuffed shirt side, but always polite and businesslike. Would recommend it and would stay again.

We love this hotel! It's the second time we've stayed there, partly for the beauty of the hotel, partly for the wonderful buffet breakfasts and friendly, helpful staff, and partly because we love the vaporetto ride over to Venice! We found good food and gelato when we spent the evening on Lido, though nothing spectacular; but the staff effort to help us locate a specific purchase was typical of the fine quality of the whole stay. And the airport waterbus is just outside the door, handy for early departure.

Above all else, front staff's attitude was far more acceptable. Their first priority must have been how to prevent me from running away from a hotel without paying accomodation fee. I know it is pretty important for them to observe their customer's behavior, though their manner, for hummble Japanese like me, was pretty rude and humiliating. Room was very noisy and the floor of the room had been shaken so many times without any reason, such as road construction or heavy raining. I am wondering if they have any facilities to alert us not to sleep deeply during a night without any precaution just like a soldier on their night watch. Noise from the upper floor was so obvious, I believe maybe James Bond would never have to set a bug on these rooms. And although I think it is not unusual for many small hotels in Europe, their elevator was useless.
