Excellent choice, near the train station, so less difficulties to move with luggages

Hotel Principe, a hotel itself is ok but litte expensive for the quality of room and services provided. The location is perfect and very close to Ferrovia station. You can just walk either of pizzale Roma or St. Lucia station. The breakfast was nice.

The hotel had a great location and the staff were very welcoming and competent. It was also nice that they spoke English. The room was spacious and clean for the most part, but there was quite a bit of mold on the ceiling and part of the wall above the shower. That should be cleaned regularly. We were on the street side of the hotel and it was quite noisy at night until very late. The breakfast buffet was decent. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in Venice.

We had just arrived from a cruise and needed a hotel near to the station as we were traveling the following day. It ticked all the boxes that I needed.

In August 2010, I stayed in a single room, spacious and very clean. Thanks to venere.com I made the reservation at a very good price for a four stars hotel. The hotel has a beautiful restaurant/breakfast room with a view on the Canal Grande. The breakfast is very good.

We stayed here after a cruise and our experience was excellent. We arrived very early in the morning, but they allowed us to check into our rooms anyway. We had to catch a train and the station was only 5 minutes away. Our rooms were spacious and overlooked the Grand Canal. The hotel is close to a Vaperetto stop, so getting around venice was very easy. Breakfast was a buffet-style and was also very good (ham, eggs, breads, cereals, and much more). The hotel arranged for our water taxi to the airport (arrived on time at their dock) and provided a sack breakfast since we were leaving before the buffet was open. The staff was great to work with and very helpful. I would highly recommend the Hotel Principe.

Excellent location, really convenient for train and airport connections. The staff a bit stiff but pleasant and helpful. The hotel itself wonderful and easy access to the whole city.

It's my second time with my wife's family, all 10 persons together.The hotel are great for Four Stars in good position, closed to the train 's station and canal.

The hotel is very convenient to the train station (a 5 minute walk). The water taxi station is also close by. We opted to walk to all the points of interest which is fine as long as you have comfortable shoes ( it is about a 30 minute walk to St. Mark's Square). Plenty of quaint canals and back streets to see so I would recommend the walk at least once. The breakfast which was included at the hotel was very good and the rooms were nice but small (especially the shower). But the view of the Venice skyline and the sound of the bells ringing made everything perfect!! This was our first time to Venice and we were very pleased with our stay. Do expect many tourists though.

We stayed one night at the hotel Principe in Venice. Very easy access from the train station.Very friendly staff. We were given a very beautiful room (looked and felt like a suite) overlooking the Grand Canal which was an upgrade from the room we booked.Hotel facilities are beautiful. Breakfast was very nice and had a nice selection. I would definitely stay here again.

It's a beautiful and nice hotel. You have to compare the price with the location, the hotel it'self, also all the service they have for you. It was great to stay here if you can pay for the price. The breakfast is very good.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel in July 2009. We would not rate this hotel more than a 3 star hotel. It is at good location, close to train station but rooms are very small as compared to what has been indicated in photographs. Triple room was OK but double room in which we stayed was small. Also we had to climb stairs with our luggage on the same floor because of 2-3 uneven building joined together to create one Hotel, though we received help from hotel staff but it was not very convenient with luggage. It was expensive over all for the price what we paid and facility what we got. I am sure you can get better or similar hotels in same surroundings for 40% less.

the hotel is nice and the room was clean.great location. it's a little too expensive for 4 star hotel, as in our home country for same price you get MUCH more. but apart from this we enjoyed our stay.

Breakfast is good. Bathroom is hugh. The atmosphere in early morning is nice. Just the interior of corridor and the room-door need some works. The location is very convenient, just 100 m. next to the train station.

Das Principe ist ein wenig abgewohnt (abgetretene Teppichböden) mit leicht morbidem Charakter, kleinen Zimmern, aber in verkehrsgünstiger Lage und mit bemühten Angestellten. Während meines Aufenthaltes gab es wenig Einzel-, sondern überwiegend Gruppenreisende.

Great location close to the railway station and Piazzale Roma. Good local facilites for eating and drinking and better prices than St Mark's area! Nice, comfortable hotel with helpful staff. Breakfast is amongst the best and included in the price. We would definitely stay there again.

This is a lovely hotel in very close to train station. Room was great as was lobby area of hotel. Restaurant is also very good with terrace overlooking the grand canal. About 25min walk through venice to get to marks square and rialto bridge which was fine for us but maybe not so for others. Front desk staff were a bit snooty but nothing to lose sleep over. Breakfast also very good.

The room is so small and urgly, and the staff there are not very nice. But the location is quite good.

We would definitely stay at the Principe again. It is very close to the train station & water taxis. We walked with all of our luggage very easily. The hotel was excellent except that our room was over the kitchen so in the morning the breakfast dishes made quite a noise. We used to live in downtown Chicago, so it wasn't a big deal for us.

My wife and I were honeymooning in Italy for 9 days. Hotel Principe was hands down the best hotel we stayed at (although not the most expensive). Knowing that we were on our honeymoon, they gave us one of the few rooms with a priceless view of the grand canal. Staff was VERY friendly and helpful and spoke English well. The breakfast that was included with the hotel room included numerous types of fresh bakery products; about 5 types of juice, fresh fruit, and any type of coffee you wanted, self serve. our room which was on the 2nd floor (Called the first floor by Europeans), was just perfect; two huge (floor to ceiling windows) that opened up to the Canal; my wife and I sat on a couple arm chairs for a good hour or so just watching the boats pass by. The walls were covered in very elaborate wall paper and there was an ornate chandelier. the bathroom had a full tub, and the shower head was located at the end of the tub (not in the middle of the tub as we experienced at a couple other hotels) and the location of the hotel Principe is perfect if your coming to the city by train or by bus-just a short 5 minute walk from the train station (it's a bit more of a haul if your coming from the bus stop...in that case, just take the #25 or #5 vaporetta one stop to the train terminal, or climb over a few bridges. You can walk to the Rialto Bridge in about 15 minutes, another 10 minutes from there and you at St. Marks. You can also easily catch on of the water buses which take about 15 minutes to get you down to the Square. I would absolutely stay here again!

The Hotel Principe was our favorite hotel on our 8 night vacation - I only wish we had planned to stay more nights in Venice! They upgraded us for free to an incredible room with balconies overlooking the grand canal. The staff was friendly and efficient, breakfast was good and the location was excellent. I will definitely stay here again!!!!

This hotel was good. I think it is probably the most convienent hotel in Venice if you are to arrive by train. It is a 3 minute walk from the train station so you don't have to lung your suitcases onto the waterbuses or over bridges a for blocks to get to your hotel. The staff was first class and the breakfast was great. We did have one small issue in that there were shards of glass on the floor in our room when we got there. When we told the man at the front desk, we heard him get on someone in housekeeping pretty good and our room was vaccuumed again immediately. If I were to get nit picky there was a small hole in the back of our bathroom door where were the closet door had hit it and the hot/cold knobs were reversed on the faucet. It was also a little expensive, but everything is expensive in Europe. The view from our balcony was incredible, the AC worked great, the flat screen TV was also very nice. I would stay here again.

The property is in a very location, but the relation between rate and services is not good. The rooms are very small (you cannot put your luggage on the floor or in a wardrobe: the only place was under the bed), the air conditioned did not work for two (of the three) nights and the employees did not give any answer.

The staff went out of their way to schedule dinner, museum, and train reservations for us. I experience about 50 hotel nights a year and I would have to rate their service the best.

My second stay there. Now in a brandnew room with canal view for the normal price. Good service and staff. Next time in Venice surely the same hotel.

The room was too hot, and was not possible to switch off the heating. The safe didn't work at first, had to call the staff. The location is fantastic, all the rest forgettable.

We were able to check in early without problem and our room was upgrade to a canal view without extra charge. The breakfast was excellent. It is perfect for train travel as you can walk to the train in 5 minutes. The only drawback was that the drinks in the bar were too expensive.

All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a Grand Canal room for no extra cost. Would highly recommend staying here!

It's location near the train station was perfect. No need to spend a lot of time and effort dragging suitcases through the streets. The room was lovely and had a small balcony with a magical view of the Grand Canal. My wife and I were very pleased and would definitely consider staying here again in the future. My only complaint was that the internet service advertised didn't really work. But really, we weren't there to surf the net so it wasn't a giant problem and the internet cafe next door allowed us to occasionally check email.

Great restaurant/bar, fabulous employees at the front desk, very close to the bus station so easy to walk with luggage.

The first room that we were taken to, the ceiling had fallen through, due to a leak in the plumbing from the room above. The second room, #228, was absolutely FABULOUS. I am sure that is was an upgrade from the first room.

We made the booking just one day prior the arrival and during saturady and sunday the reservation office is clase so our arrival was completely unexpected but the front office give us a beautiful room. We had booked a classic triple room they assigned us a Suite overlooking the city and the Gran Canal. Great location and great Hotel

Excellent hotel ideally located on the grand canal close to the station. Large room but none available with a canal view when we were there. Nice terrace right on the grand canal. If you drive be aware that the closest car park (walking distance) will cost you as much as one third of the price of the hotel

A very good hotel, good helpful staff at a very good location. big room with big shower. Enjoyed my stay in this magical hotel.

I was most impressed when I enetered the doors into the Foyer at Hotel Principe. It is so deceiving from the outside that I was taken aback. (In a good way!). It was in an ideal location and the free taxi ride we had to the Glass Factory from the Hotel was superb. The buffet breakfast was great and overall I couldn't complain about one thing. It was a memorable stay and one I will cherish forever. The seafood in Venice is divine! Make sure you try some.....

We had a nice holiday in Venice. THe position of Hotel is best for railway tripper.

The reception put us into one room with 2 twin bed (we're clearly a couple, or he should have asked our preference first). We went back to the reception, and needed few strong words before he realize he need to change to another room (first he offered to "make" the bed into one, how is that possible?) But Hotel is close to train station, and the street where it is on is lively with shops and restaurants. But I think there's another better hotel down the street (I forgot the name of it)

The room and location surpassed our expectations! We made the reservation the morning of our stay and needless to say did not expect too much. We were pleasantly surprised and would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Venice and not wanting to be in the middle of where all the other tourists go. Trying to find the street it was on when we first arrived was a bit difficult until we accidentally stumbled onto the hotel's entrance.

Very nice hotel. Conveniently located to the train station. We choose the canal view room and it was a lovely room, however, it was the smallest that I had stayed in on my trip. But, the bathroom was large, new, and clean. The air conditioning was good. Breakfast was the best! During the day, the front desk was a bit put upon to help out. However, the evening desk clerk was gracious and helpful!

Venere should give some information about the parking garages and how to get to the hotel. We were totally taken advantage of by the at the garage for taking us a few hundred meters to the hotel.

Breakfast on the balcony overlooking the Grand Canal was a wonderful experience (room 123 is lovely) Staff were helpful and friendly - the courtesy boat trip to Murano and back was a real bonus. Super meal in the terrace restaurant. We will definitely return for a longer stay in the future.

Very nice hotel! Expensive, but compared to Venice standards still rather reasonable. Can highly recommend the rooms with view over the Grand Canale. Excellent location especially if you are travelling by train since you do not have to transport your luggage on the crowded vapporettos. The breakfast buffé is very good except for one thing: a 4 star hotel in Italy should serve freshly made cappuccino, not something "coffee like" coming out of a machine...

Though expensive, the location was great,close to train and water taxi. The breakfast buffet was excellent and plentiful, The one down side was there was some push by the front desk to sell these free tours to the glass blowing location which learning from others was not free at all. Many were upset by this but we heard about it before hand and stayed away.

Venice itself is more expensive than the other cities we visited so quality/price question is tough one. I put relative to what we paid in other cities since I am not familiar with other accomodations in Venice. Our room was large enough for a hotel room. Location is convenient to train station and you can get to other sites easy enough via boat or walking but not really in the hub of the more desireable areas. We had 2 rooms -- double and a triple since we were traveling with our 10 year old and 2 teen agers -- rooms were adjacent but not adjoining which was ok for their age but wouldn't have been ok for younger ages. Some sections of the hotel have a musty odor and aged carpets. Fortunately, we weren't staying in that section. Breakfast was convenient and good. Enough variety to satisfy everyone. I wouldn't return to this hotel because I'd like to stay in a different section of Venice should I return -- we always left this area to get to where we really wanted to be.

The room was awesome....it is worth the money to get one of the rooms with a balcony! The rooms are expensive, but very nice. Big by Europe standards. The only disappointment was the friendliness (or rather lack thereof) of the front desk staff. We would often be standing at the desk for minutes before anyone would even acknowledge us.

Great location on grand canal not far from train station, bus terminal and water bus services. Good breakfast. Large room, very modern bathroom. Typical arrogant Italian reception staff, but no reason not to stay here. Loads of nice restaurants nearby. Probably best alternative to staying over near San Marco.

The room was tiny small and uncomfortable, the bathroom too and the staff was very unkind.

No hot water in three days. Room small but in Venice one makes allowances. Not really a 4 star hotel in my opinion.

The only real problem we had here was that they didn't have our reservation. They still gave us a room, but it faced the street and was loud.

GOOD LOCATION AND EASY TO FIND, VERY CLOSED TO THE TRAIN STATION. NICE AND FRIENDLY STAFF. WE ARE HAPPY TO STAY IN ROOM 118 WITH CANAL VIEW. HOWEVER, THE WATER PRESSURE IS VERY WEAK AND SOMETIME IT DID NOT HAVE HOT WATER DURING SHOWER.

The location was good, since we were arriving by train to Venice and the hotel is just a few steps away from the station. Good view to the Grand Canal. Clean room.

Our experience here was just great ... the only flow we found was at the breakfast restaurant ... the HELP there was not very helpful ... and especially a young female server seemed to do everything possible to irritate us ... for this we avoided the restaurant.

We enjoyed our stay very much. We were given a terrace, as we requested - a wonderful spot to watch the regatta and relax with a fabulous view. The staff was very helpful with restaurants, directions, and overall information. The hotel is very convenient to the train, but quite a distance from St. Marks and some of the major attractions. Overall, our experience was very nice, and we would highly recommend Hotel Principe.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Principe. Great location with the canal view. Excellent meal at the restaurant and we really enjoyed the Piano Bar.

We spent 6 days in Venice. Loved the Hotel it made our stay special.The view of the canal was great.Everyone was very helpful.

The Principe is always a pleasure especially room 316 with a terrace overlooking The Grand Canal - and this was our third visit.

Tive uma estadia maravilhosa no quarto 418, cujo terrasso tem uma panorâmica deslumbrante sobre o Grande Canal! Recomendo vivamente e espero lá poder voltar em breve.

Better room than expected. Nice triple room with canal view for 200€ pr. night included breakfast is less than I thought it was. We arrived with car, and the location was excellent. Nice surprice with a taxi trip to Moreno island where we got a guided tour in a Moreno glass factory.All of it was free of charge.

As a frequent visitor to Venice the Principe is one of our favoutite hotels on our shortlist. We hope to return soon.

We stayed in Room 122/123, which are absolutely marvellous. Standing on the balcony, I felt like "Il Principe" being hailed by the bypassing subjects on Canale Grande. - A memorable stay at a superb hotel!

All staff were really welcoming, and we felt that the overall standard of staff was excellent. The location is wonderful, but, like everything in Venice, the prices were very high indeed. You can't feel that you ever get value for money!!

A very comfortable hotel, coveniently situated near the bus and rail stations. Worth getting a canal view room.

Excellent hotel near the train station. We combined the trip to Venice with a stay in Verona so location was perfect for us. The double room was spacious, very attractive in Venetian style and extremely comfortable. The balcony overlooking the Grand Canal was a bonus. Recommended.

First day we were in a very small room, in particular the bathroom area (we are not big, A big person would not fit in at all!). Hot water hardly reached the 5 floor in a slow trickle, where we were. At our request we received an expensive room at a reasonable rate (170 ERU/night) which made the rest of our stay very confortable and pleasent. In summary, the inexpensive rooms may be poor. The expensive ones are very good, if can be obtained at a reasonable price. I guess we were lucky to be out of season.

The hotel took some time to find our booking but, that and the musty smell of the room aside, I would stay here again.

Generally a very good hotel. Staff extremely friendly and efficient except on leaving when we were asked for our credit card but not given an itemised account. When we requested one we found we were being charged a higher rate than the one at booking (on-line). The staff found this 'difficult'. Fortunately we had a photocopy of the reservation and rate. Apart from that, a good stay. Excellent location.

Charming hotel, rooms totally redecorated in contemporary barocco design. Immaculate wonderful bathrooms with fluffy towels, bathrobes, slippers. Do ask for room 123, which has its private small terrasse overlooking the Grand Canal. Good location minutes by foot from bus and train station (safe and friendly surroundings)

To stay at Principe was a delight - it really made you feel quite regal. If you're looking at 3 star hotels and out of season, just pay a bit more and go for this 4 star gem.
