This hotel was one of the highlights of our Italian holiday. The location on the Grand Canal is truely magnificent. Very close to the vaporetto stop & within easy walking distance to San Marco & other attractions. The staff were exceptional, especially the dining room staff at breakfast time. The breakfasts included in the price were above average quality. All in all a great stay & we will definitely come back again & again.

Why did we like the hotel so much: the staff were relaxed, efficient, friendly and knowledgeable and clearly enjoyed their work. Our room was spacious, very comfortable and light (but note that 505 at least has no views at all). The Hotel location is tremendous: right on the Grand canal, and right by the Ca' Rezzonico Vaporetto stop. Getting there and leaving with bags is easy: if you fly in, take the public boat from the airport to San Angelo, and jump on a No. 1 Vaporetto going towards St Mark's. Get off at Ca Rezzonico and it's the first gateway on the left). The area behind the hotel has great bars, restaurants and shops but is not on a tourist beat. At least at end of September it was very quiet. Yet you're just 5 minutes walk from the Academia and the Guggenheim. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the Grand Canal ... Internet access free and usable. Building itself, very old, and amazing

The hotel was absolutely gorgeous, and our room was spacious and elegant. The location was a little ways away from the main tourist sights, which was actually nice. We enjoyed the quiet, but walking to all of the major sights was easy too. Nearby restaurants were much better than those right around the major attractions. Our favorite was MuraVenezia Frari. We also really loved having breakfast overlooking the Grand Canal every morning. We would absolutely return to this hotel!

This would be the best hotel that we have stayed in the decor is amazing. The shower in the bathroom was was really good which is very unusual for Europe. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the grand canal was a perfect way to start the day. We really liked the weather report for the next day left on our pillow with a chocolate every night. A really nice touch.

The hotel is beautiful; it is located in a expertly restored palazzo. It is located centrally, excellent location close to the vaporetto. The rooms are luxurious and very spacious, the common areas are beautiful. Check out all the floors as details have been meticulusly restored. Breakfast is a selection of very good food, served on a terrace overlooking the scenic Grande Canal. This is a hotel for people who want to splurge and really enjoy their stay in Venice. The staff are very accomodating and skilled at their jobs; highly recommended.

Very disappointed by my stay in this hotel. We pay for one night in a Luxuous hotel, and the only room proposed was a room closed of the reception normally attributed to disabled clients. The best rooms were on the first and second floors. You can find a typical venitian design but, unhopefully, it was not for us !

This has to be the perfect hotel to experience Venice. A palazzo on the Canale Grande, full of Fortuny lamps and Murano chandeliers. A lovely terrace to eat breakfast or have a drink. Can't think of anything negative. I even had a very much appreciated coffee machine in my room, a huge Murano chandelier, a very fast internet connection and a huge safe for my Mac. Could even hear Venetian dialect when I opened the windows in the morning. Dorsoduro is such a lovely area and Venice is such a fantastic place!

We stayed at Palazzo Stern for two night on 18th-19th August 2008, for 210 euros/night (including breakfast) It is a recently renovated venetian palazzo, with many of the original 15-16th century details preserved in the public areas (however, some of the building is clearly late 19th century-early 20th century). The rooms, though, are modern, business like, equipped with a large LCD TV set and free WIFI internet. The most attractive feature of the hotel is that it is not too big and that it is next to the Canal Grande. In particular its terrace is its biggest asset. There are no paths between the terrace and the Canal Grande, so when you have breakfast on the terrace, the view is really nice (with on one side the Canal Grande and on the other side the front of the palazzo). We hoped (but did not expect) to get a room with a view, but ended up with a room in the attic, with only a view through two small windows to the sky only! Even given that, the hotel seems worth considering if you would like to pay a bit more for the experience of staying in a pleasant hotel. Hotels in Venice are normally not cheap, and this hotel is well located for exploring the city and it successfully gives you the feeling of being surrounded by some luxury. (I have been in many hotels in various countries which are superior w.r.t. to luxury, but, remember, this is Venice, with a general lack of space and inhabited by many tourists.) Breakfast included fresh bread and cakes, cappuccino (ask for it!) and some fruit. Better than usual in Italy. It is a bit of a problem to find a decent restaurant in Venice. There is one just outside the square from which the hotel can be reached on foot, which offers good quality food for a reasonable price (Ristorante Casin dei Nobili, Dorsoduro 2765). Finally, the hotel can be reached on foot from the Piazella Roma (bus station) or the San Luca train station. More covenient are vaporette 1 and 3 which stop at Ca. Rezzonico. Just a few meters
