The annexe isn't where you'd choose to be - but I guess that's why it's not dearer. The general location is great - just along from the Danieli (where Dickens stayed) - and very close to St Mark's Square. I like walking for an hour before breakfast, so you get Venice when it's cooler and not overrun by tourists. For that purpose, the location is a good one. The only downside is the distance from the station if you're travelling on by train.

We stayed in the main building which is totally renovated and really quiet. The rooms are nice and totally clean, as well as the bathroom. Only the breakfast is on italian level: okay but no great variety. We enjoyed our stay at Pagnelli very much.

I wish I had discovered this hotel on one of my previous 7 visits to Venice. It is so convenient to San Marco Plaza where I love to visit San Marco Cathedral and listen to the music on the Plaza.

The location is excellent and comparing other hotels good value for money in an expensive city. Rooms small but well furnished and comfortable. Bit annoying having to go to the annex for breakfast

The hotel was really very good. My single room wasn´t so spacious but for a short stay it was OK. But in general I would recommend this hotel to everybody and if I go to Venice again, I will stay there.

Hotel Paganelli was ideally situated - short walk to St Marks Square & all other tourist attractions. Shopping & restaurants all close by & staff couldn't have been more helpful.

The location and price were excellent. All you had to do was walk out the door and hop on a water taxi. Close to St. Marks' Square, and lots of shopping and restrauants. The room was small, but very clean and quaint with toll type painting on furniture. When in Venice why would you be spending a lot of time in you room anyway. The bed was very comfortable. Room was quiet at night. A nice variety of breakfast items, and comfortable atmosphere. Loved Venice and would stay at Paganelli again.

Offers more than many higher prices hotels: in room safe, v. close to water bus stop, offers access to internet (where higher priced hotels absolutely offer none); ditto hairdryer. On the downside, the external bath where the shower and toilet were across the hall in its own locked room -- very inconvenient, especially for a single person having to carry 2 very heavy keys with fobs attached and of course requiring the wearing of shoes across the common hall. Ask for rooms in the back to get a more quiet room. If rooms facing lagoon are desired, ask, however I did not find a way to do this on the internet.

Although the reception desk and lobby seemed very poor the room was ok. Also the location is great about 100 meters San Marco Sq. and one of the main vaporetto's stop. Maybe in a second visit I would prefer a location in a more calm area.

i've been in venice many times and will go there many times more! this year, a special thrilling experience was the biennale - in the giardini and the arsenale as well as in many old palazzos (palazzo soranzo van axel, for instance) which one can't visit otherwise. those destinations are in short walking distance of the hotel, as well as many charming small squares (campo)and beautiful churches (san marco, naturally, but also san zaccaria, san giovanni in bragora, santa maria formosa etc.etc.). i can only recommend this charming little hotel in this most charming place!

The location is FANTASTIC!! It is right on a vaparetto stop and literally 2 minutes (or less) walking from St. Mark's Square on the Grand Canal. The only (and minor) drawbacks are: 1) the shower tends to spray on the bathroom floor; and 2) the breakfast was in a separate building from us (but right around the corner).

Will recommend this to anyone looking for reasonable lodgings on a central Venice location. Had room at the back on the square, nice and quiet. Tiny room, but well equipped, and a good sized bath is more important than lots of floor space around the bed. For a budget hotel good breakfast. Particularly happy to get dark bread - uncommon for Italian hotels. Friendly service.

I found the Paganelli a nice, practical hotel, very well situated, just a few steps from the Vaporetto and from St Mark. The staff was very helpful and welcoming, my single room was upgraded to a double one (thanks). The breakfast was good. The room was not very big, and the bathroom really small, but I did not care for 1 only night. Decoration and furniture were fine, in 18th century style. The only negative point was that I could hear a lot of noise from the neighbouring rooms. But on the average I would recommend the Paganelli hotel, value for money being excellent (> a room in Venice, so centrally located, for 60 euro being really a bargain !).

A great little friendly hotel and so easy to find as it's right on the waters edge and only 2 bridges away from St Marks Square. The only thing we didn't like was the UHT milk for breakfast..........but no one likes UHT milk

I picked this hotel based on three criteria: price, location close to the San Zacharia vaporetto stop, and good air conditioning, as reported by reviewers on various web site. In none of these cases did it disappoint. I found the hotel better geared to tourists than the business traveller (e.g. no internet access, not even data ports on the phone, no good work space in the room), but I suppose that is typical for a hotel in a major tourist destination.

the only problem we had, when we wanted to check in, nobody belived we'd really booked the rooms. they did't except the reservation you sent us. we had to discuss a while till they checked their reservation status about it, then it was fortunately ok.

am surprised about previous comments read on the site suggesting that the rooms and breakfast were poor. We found the hotel to be welcoming and the breakfast and service at excellent. Please be assured that if you want somewhere to stay in Venice which is close to all amenities and provides good value than you will find it at the Paganelli. edward white
