Location hotel is very good, Venice is not an easy city to carry baggage, so it's very convenient to be near to Santa Lucia Rail Station and Piazzale Roma. Some people at the reception hotel are very unkind. Breakfast is horrible: quality of food and beverage are very poor.

The location of hotel was good- nice walk to rialto bridge and st marks square(30minutes). The food quality was below average. We had 4 days breakfast and two days no cold meat cut and cheese slice because their machine broke and made no effort to get replacement as their was initially not much choice for breakfast. We had to buy breakfast outside for children. Manager was away on holiday and staff could not help.

My father and I stayed in Venice for one night, and this hotel's location was perfect for us! Literally 3 minutes walk from the train station. We arrived very early in the morning (5:30 am) on a night train, and the man in reception was very kind, and allowed us to leave our baggage at the hotel until check in time later on (no fee). Breakfast was ample, wi-fi costs money (I think 5 EU for the day), and the room was tiny, as was the bathroom, but very clean. All in all a pleasant stay.

Our flight had been substantially delayed so we arrived at the hotel at approximately 6am. It was a relief to find a Receptionist on duty and to be able to access our room quickly. Given the travel hassles we experienced, it would have been great to have been offered a coffee or even a drink of water. Neither were offered. The hotel was well located - very close to the main train station and a main vaporetto station. The staff were capable and some were pleasant but it was clear that we were just another two tourists - a little politeness, even a smile would have conveyed the impression that we were welcome and our custom valued. The room was fine but the bathroom was extremely small, especially the shower which was minute.

Highly recommend this to other travelers. The hotel is conveniently located close to the main station - 3 min walk. Hotel is close to ATM, Laundromat, Water bus station, restaurants, phone shop for SIM card. The located of the hotel is very safe. Good pizzeria is located next to the hotel. The rooms can sleep 4 people comfortably. We traveled with 2 teenagers.

Venice is expensive, so don't expect the same quality as in other cities compared to the price. This hotel is well located, near the train station and Piazzale Roma, but in a very crowded area. For the same price, you can find best service and quietness in Venice. 180€ for a really small room to be refreshed and a low-quality breakfast. I wondered how, in Italy, they could serve us so bad orange juice and coffee. We've even decided to have our breakfast outside the hotel the last morning.

The welcome service was efficient but rather impersonal. However, the staff at reception next day was very thoughtful in ensuring that our luggage (left for deposit at hotel while touring Venice after check-out)did not get mixed-up with a big group of hotel guests.

The bathroom was impossible to use because the shower spread water everywhere. The wireless was available only at the lobby area and we had to pay by the hour. I am celiac and even when I informed that the staff refused to offer me more than some biscuits for breakfast, they just told me where I could go to buy bread (but find an address it's not an easy thing to do in Venice!) For their prices I think we can find a better place in Venice!

The elevator begins on the first(second) floor. Price considered in context that Venice is expensive. Convenient location, but map is not adequate. It may be a 15 minute walk fraom the Piazzale Roma but there is a canal with a long bridge in between. Important if you are carrying much.

Our first stay in Venezia was short but enjoyable. This hotel is just located near the train station: a good way to get here. And also close to one water-bus stop, so it is easy to get any place in Venice from here: also by walking. Room facilities are excellent, though space is limited. Breakfast is very good, though crowded. Aisles are rather long but mirror Venice streets. Staff is very competent and nice. We'll be back.

The hotel was a very well kept hotel, with a pleasent staff and located near the railway station and a short walking distance from Piazzale Roma where the bus from the airport deposits people.

What I didn't like about similar hotels in Venice is the location of rooms, which you have to walk in up and down, entering another buildings connected to the hotel ! Although there was an eleveator, and we staid in ground floor, we had to walik in up and down 45 steps and 80 meters !!!

Hotel Nazionale was exactly what we expected it to be, and even a little better. The room we stayed in was tight on space, but it had a lovely view over a rear courtyard garden and the city in the distance. I was surprised to find that there was no Internet point available in the lobby, as was advertised. I had to go across the street and pay for one instead. The location is very convenient to the train station, and the area was very quiet at night.

We spent three nights in Hotel Nazionale. It suited our needs perfectly well - close to the railway station, close to city centre and Vaporetto station. The not-so-perfect relation between price and quality was to be expected - this is Venice, after all.... Breakfast could be a little less "spartanic". However, we would go there again.

This is an excellent hotel choice for Venice. The price is excellent. The location is close the Roma (Buses) and Ferrovia (train station). The is an internet cafe across the street. Along Spagna the main route to the Rialto is easy. Just follow the signs. The staff at the hotel were excellent! Service was excellent. I had a reservation for one night, but ended up staying additional nights. I even returned to Venice later in the trip and stayed at the Nazionale again. Unless you want a lot of glitz and glamour, this is a great place to stay.

Although the room was small, it was not a problem, since it was very clean. More importantly, the area surrounding the hotel was perfect. We arrived from Florence by train, and the station was 3 blocks from the hotel. I was traveling with my sister and we both agreed the hotel was perfect. Also, there was a very nice breakfast offered in the morning, included in the price of the room. Would absolutely stay there in the future.

For our European trip this hotel was the most expensive and the least liked. But Venice on a whole is too expensive and over priced and my family was happy we only chose to stay one night. Choosing a three star hotel we expected better. Especially after staying in a beautiful two star in Rome. We thought that with one night in Venice, lets try a three star hotel. Very disappointing. On the good side it was easy to find, close to the train station. Within walking distance form all sites. Venice is small anyway and can be covered in one or two days. Most of the hotels are close to each other anyway.

Great location, easily found, only a five minute walk from the station. Hotel looks ordinary on the outside but rooms and ensuite facilities have recently been renovated and were attractive, as was the breakfast room. Our room was small, but quiet, and overlooked the garden. We left the shutters open, had no need for the airconditioning. Breakfasts were quite basic. Our only complaint was that the property advertised a lift but it operated from reception on the first floor - carrying our bags from the street up a long flight of stairs was indeed character building. But we would stay there again.

Not many English or German speaking TV programs were available. Especially the breakfast and the spaciousness of our room were very poor given the price we paid for the night (140 Euros resp. 190 Euros for a double). The room was really small for the price. We were really disappointed. Also, the bathroom was so small and when you showered water went everywhere in the bathroom. It wasn't a horrible room. My biggest problem was regarding changing my room from a triple room to a double room. When I emailed Venere, I received a reply that I had to contact the hotel directly to make such a change and receive a new rate. I called the hotel in Italy from California first to find out that Hotel Nazionale is no longer in operations and my reservations is transferred to Hotel Spagna. Secondly, the receptionist told me to write my request and fax it to him. I did. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told that their hotel had to pay Venere a commission based on a triple room so we had to pay the triple rate even though we only need a double room. This was the upsetting part. However, the hotel was clean, located in a perfect and easy to find area, breakfast was just okay and the television had CNN and BBC, but did not have any sounds. The Italian and German Channels were find.

The room was nice, clean, and large by European standards; the bathroom as well. The reception staff was attentive and helpful. Breakfast was not especially good (the granola was stale), the coffee tasted like instant, but the breakfast room was light and airy and the staff prompt and courteous. There was a plumbing problem that required the Nazionale to its transfer guests to its sister hotel, the Spagna; although it was not convenient having to pack an extra time, the transfer was accomplished smoothly and the Spagna was perfectly acceptable (Spagna manager Augustus will steal your heart if you are not careful).

The Nazionale was overall a good value and in a great location from the train station. It was a bit hard to find if you are coming in from the airport bus. The staff was great, and even called the the airport to inquire about our lost bags. This hotel was just as advertised....clean,safe, and comfortable, and the room was available early for us on the day of arrival. I would stay here again, except for the fact that I would never go to Italy ever again, as it is filthy, overpriced , and way overrated. Go to the U.K. and drink good beer!

I have a lot to write about this hotel. First of all the location was great. But that was about the only thing good about this hotel. I entered the hotel and went up to the front desk. I gave my name and told the guy I had reservations. Well, guess what, they didn't have me down for any reservations. So I showed the guy my reservation I printed out and he gave me a room. We got to the room and the first thing I notice was the floor was dirty. There were bread crumbs everywhere. I walked in the bathroom to check it out and there were dead flies in the sink AND the shower. There were also broken tiles on the wall and some were missing. The next morning my wife and I went to breakfast. Can you say LIMITED CHOICES. Coffee, hot chocolate(it tasted more like hot water), 2 kinds of cereal, milk, and croissants. I ate some of the cereal and it was bland so my wife and I went out and got some real breakfast. Anyone who's old might enjoy this hotel. But for newlywed's on their honeymoon, this is not the best choice. I've stayed at many hotels in Venice while on my 3 year military tour to Italy and this was the worst.

This is the worst value for money hotel that we have stayed in in 26 years of travelling. The fittings were cheap, the space is minimal (you have to almost stand in the bidet to have a shower), the staff chain smoke (in front of a sign that says "No Smoking"), the breakfasts were the worst we have ever experienced, and the decor is simply run down. On the plus side (!) the location is excellent. We wouldn't stay there again.

The hotel is very close to the train station about 2 blocks away. The hotel is not the cleanest place in Italy but it is ok for the money. The best part about the hotel is that there is an internet cafe/bar next door to the hotel which was a great and cheap way of communicating with my family back home. The location was excellent: near the railway station. Our room overlloked a courtyard. The breakfast was at least adequate. We were pleasantly surprised by the Nationale Hotel. Given the price compared to other Venice hotels and its close proximity to the train station (very handy and easy to get to with luggage) we expected a much lower standard. The room/bed was very comfortable (incl A/C, TV) and the location was great. It was around a 15 min walk the St Marks but we didn't mind that, as it was all interesting and nice to escape the really touristy bit of Venice. Our room was at the back and was quiet, but I imagine that rooms overlooking the street could be noisy as there is a bar/cafe below. The breakfast buffet was adqeuate (cereal, rolls, pastries etc)and they even kindly provided us with a packed breakfast for our very early morning departure by train. They have an elevator from the lobby to the rooms, however there is a long flight of stairs from the road to the lobby. There was a porter to assist us when we arrived during the day, but he wasn't there all the time. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would stay there again next time we go to Venice.

Venice is expensive but we were surprized that the standards can drop this low for a 3*. Location is OK and good for railway. The hotel has a smell of damp cigarettes in reception area, and when you enter the door and has is a flight of stairs to greet you which is covered with dirty carpet. The elevator has graffiti scratched into it. The rooms we had was OK and clean although light switch was hanging off. Dead mosquitos were splatted on ceiling and walls. Breakfast was pretty poor.

Decor was dark and cheerless. Air conditioning was not very efficient. Continental breakfast was uninspiring.

We stayed at Hotel Nazionale for one night as we had to catch an early train. Although we chose it because of its proximity to the railway station, we would be happy to stay there again or to recommend the hotel to others. The staff were very welcoming and efficient, our room was spacious and had a view over a garden. We had to leave at 6am so cannot comment on breakfast, but all-in-all highly recommended.

A very good hotel indeed. Close to train station, maybe a bit far from main attractions from Venice but I really suited my purpose. Couple of internet points just downstairs. I recommend it!

good location, and staffs. Very quite at night. Good value for money for Venice. Lovely breakfast.

I think overall the quality of the service matches with the room rate. However, it would be better if a bottle of mineral water is provided in the room. Furthermore, according to the website, there should be internet access. But I realized that I need to pay for it in the internet cafe next to the hotel!! I would suggest the internet connection to be provided free of charge.

Bon voyage...

The staff was very helpful. The rooms were a little shabby, with no art and very tiny bathrooms. The breakfast was disappointing with no protein and odd tasting coffee.

It was a great place to stay. Close to the train station, close to a variety of restaurants and close to the vaporetos. The weather contributed with our stay and we did not have a hard time with mosquitos or with the bad smell surronding the city, as we heard from other friends who visited Venice before us.

nice hotel very close to the train station. rooms are satisfactory but the bathroom is very small, it's like a portable bathroom. Buffet breakfast was ok. The hotel is in a very convenient place, with loads of bars and restaurants around. Overall, the stay was very pleasant.

The location was very good...very near to the station as promised. Also, lots of shops as well as the boat stop nearby. The room was small as expected I guess..my wife dint like the blue color of the room. At 100 euros, we thought it was kind of pricy but I guess thats how the prices are in Venice.

Decent, not-too-pricey place to stay if you need/want to stay a very short walk from the train station. Note: While it has an elevator, it starts one flight up at the reception desk. But a bellman is there to lug your stuff if you ask.

2 munites walk out of Santa Lucia Station.Although my single room was tiny, it had all the necessary facilities. Staff speak English and are very helpful, including a free map of the City. I would recommend this hotel for location and value for money

The Nazionale is a quiet clean hotel very close to the railway station. The room was large enough and seemed luxurious by european standards. The breakfast room is big and bright and the buffet breakfast offers a good variety- including some protein like eggs and cheese. For Venice the price is excellent and location very convenient.

Arriving quite late at night from Marco Polo airport via the bus, we had a few problems negotiating our way from the bus depo in the dark!Basically head towards the canal.Turn right and walk along the canal side until you come to the first footbridge, cross over, continue walking straight, turn the corner and you will see the second main bridge infront of you. Cross over,(there a quite a few steps be warned!),turn right immediately and walk straight on, the hotel is 50yards on the left hand side.(Total time 20mins walk).I hope this helps if you arrive rather clueless like us! The hotel was great, lived up to expectations, very warm welcome. The meandering walk towards St Marks is clearly signposted(look on the side of the buildings for hand painted signs!), and an enjoyable walk. Also we recommend the ghost walk at night!A fun way to see the sights!Enjoy!

excellent location ,one and a half short blocks from terminal, we were very pleased with everything, and staff made our stay in Venice better than we expected ,they speak english and they take credit cards , we were there in May,best time of the year in Venice, I definitely would stay there again, breakfast was OK, our room was nice and quiet, very clean and spacious, I saw the common bathrooms for the rooms with no BR and they looked nice and clean too, you can't really ask for more in the 100 euros range .

Very pleased how smoothly the booking went. Only problem was I had some difficulty getting confirmation from the hotell confirming the reservation. There were some problems with the phones and it took a little while before I received confirmation by e-mail. But these are small things. I will no hesitate to use venere.com again.
