Hotel Marta was a great place to stay for the location. The reception is on the 2nd-3rd floor for those who have to drag luggage ... no lift. But to be in Venice on a main street was fabulous. Hotel Marta is about a 10 min walk from the train station. If arriving from Roma square, then you must go up the bridge steps and then down, go past the train station and walk another 5-8 minutes. The breakfast was the usual roll and drink at the nearby cafe.

The hotel is not far from Venice Santa Lucia train station , but we have the problem to take our large luggage to upstairs. The price is rather expensive compared with other cities in Italy and there is so noisy , but our room has good view.

Was exactly as we expected, great location, room was along the hall from reception, people attending the front desk, spoke until early morning ( 2.30 am ), and could be heard in the room, sleeping was difficult. Price vs room was good considering it was Venice, and the location, the hotel itself located anywhere else would be poor. we paid for the location and the view from the room. The older lady - assumed owner, showed very little interest in her guest.

Basement class hotel. 120 EUROS seemed a bit steep for the room provided. But then, Venice is big time expensive so perhaps the price was appropriate.

This is one of the greatest locations in Venice..The rest for me really did not matter.. Was in a spacious, clean room, able to sleep and personnel spoke English and French..

The Hotel Marte is perfect for sightseeing. The Rialto Bridge only 10 min to walk. You have restaurants, gift-shops and a lot of other things in the near area from the hotel. The price is o.k, for such hotel. It was clean and everything you need, you coud get. The receptionist was very kindly. It´s a good tip.

The hotel met our needs perfectly - excellent location for easy walking distance from station, with venetian daily life on our doorstep, restaurants, cafes, market, water bus all close-by. I DO wish we had asked how to use the air-conditioning, though - it was VERY hot and humid while we were there and we didn't realise the air-con had a remote control, until we saw one being used in the cafe below - on our last day :P. The breakfast included was not the healthiest, (ok for an indulgent weekend), but we made up for it by buying fruit and vegetables from the market.

It is a good hotel that is only a 5 minute walk from the train station. That is important in Venice since wondering around the city with luggage can be a real pain. Although there was some confusion about our reservation, the hotel staff was very quick to correct it and accommodate us. Keep in mind that the bathroom is tiny and doesn't have a dedicated shower. Instead there is a shower head coming out of the wall and exits through a central drain in the bathroom floor. Also keep in mind that the breakfast is a ticket for coffee and a pastry at a nearby cafe. So don't expect a huge feast. This hotel is great for someone who needs a comfortable room at an affordable price and doesn't require a lot of frills.

Bon hotel, un peu cher mais c'est inévitable à Venise... Par contre le petit dej dans le bar dessous est NUL : un verre de jus d'orange ou de café + un pain au chocolat, point final...

This hotel was fine for a budget traveller. We were 4 in a quad room, so space was limited, but then we were only in the room to sleep. The location was perfect and the staff very helpful. The breakfast, that was included was a basic continental, but that was expected. The bonus was being able to leave our bags at the hotel from when we checked out until 9pm that evening. I would recommend this hotel for people who want a budget but clean, quiet bed in an expensive city.

This is my second visit to venice, and the first at Hotel Marte. We travelled in in style (high speed water taxi) and alighted directly opposite the Marte Hotel entry. Although we were moved by the hotel and actually stayed directly across the cannal from Hotel Marte (in a sister hotel). This reduced the amount of stairs we needed to travel - which was considerable with our luggage and 3 kids. We found where we stayed child friendly, and also close to a great park and play ground (opposite our hotle & next to Hotel Marte). We could also see up the cannal we stayed on to a partial view of the Grand Canal from our bed room window. An extra, unexpected highlight. While I would recommend to most travellers including families - we were cautious to avoid kids ganing accessing to open windows that open out to provide nice local area views of Venice.

very basic hotel as we expected but clean and friendly. Great location backing on to a park which was great for relaxing when walking and culture vulturing got too much.Rooms to the front are very noisy, always someone dragging a wheelie bag down on the street. I wold definitly use this hotel again but would specify a rear room

The photos made this look like a cute place to stay. It was very ordinary and too expensive for what it was. The room (triple) was cramped and the bathroom was ancient and not very clean. We staggered up 2 flights of stairs with our bags and the reception area was very uninviting. Breakfast was a voucher for the cafe downstairs and, although it didn't amount to much, at least the coffee was good. At 120 Euros for a night, it was over-priced, but it was Easter weekend, so they were probably capitalising on the opportunity. We only stayed one night as we were in transit and wanted to be near the station. This hotel was not a patch on the Stella Alpina, which is nearer the station and much better value.

Fourth visit to Venice and first time we've had a view! Very convenient for Guglie boat stop to airport and not far from station.

This Hotel has stairs to climb, like most hotels in Venice, so please be aware. The location is very good to the Railway and canal transport. My wife and I found that the location is close to shops and eating areas. I would recommend to singles and couples who can climb stairs, room not large but suitable. Also water pressure in shower is not ideal. Still enjoyed stay.

It was my first time at Hotel Marte. I was in double-room. Shower was uncomfortable and room was not clear but otherwise the hotel was satisfactory.

Stayed in a room with a view of the canal, which made all the difference. Externally the hotel looks rundown, but internally clean and friendly service by english speaking managers.

For the price the room was OK. It could have been a little cleaner. The funiture and bedding was quite old. Great location. Very close the the train station and easy to find.
