Beds and pillows were very uncomfortable. The room was very noisy. There was no elevator and very narrow stairways which made moving luggage up and down very difficult, especially to and from the fourth floor. We would not recommend this hotel.

1.Matteo the receptionist is one very nice and helpful one, ever ready to help. We like to thank him specially, the other receptionists were not helpful at all. 2. the hotel is right next to Realto Bridge, excellant location!! 3. they dont give you air condition, they lied about Venice only switched it on in June, when we were there in May.. because the other hotel we stayed for one night in Venice too had very nice strong air conditioning. 4. it was very noisy, as we had to open our windows to get fresh air, the back restaurant and people made a lot of noises. 5. the breakfast is good, hot food, hot milk, scrambled egg, toast, juice, fruits, yogurt, cereal, good choice. 5.Hotel's internet passwords were not useable, very terrible!! Only Matteo helped us . 6. we dont mind coming back, because the location is really good. But there are other nicer hotel with free internet, and comparable prices, we think we will try them next time.

As a family with both young and teenage children, we all enjoyed our stay at Hotel Marconi in Venice. the location was fantastic, overlooking the Rialto Bridge and was very accessible by water bus. the staff were lovely and hotel clean. one of our family rooms had a balcony overlooking the canal and we felt like we were in another world. highly recommended.

What a pity they don't take advantage of the wonderful position and serve drinks for guests (both beverages and alcohol !!)to enjoy in the late afternoon/ evening.

Hotel Marconi makes an excellent base for exploring Venice. I would recommend it highly. It is not cheap, but it is pretty reasonable for a comfortable hotel in such a central location in Venice. The staff are very helpful. However, there are a lot of stairs if you are on the 4th floor. It is incredibly convenient for the Rialto vaporetti, and central for walking around. The breakfast is quite good. There are several nice restaurants nearby. We liked the one just outside the hotel overlooking the Grand Canal, which although it was described by the hotel as being "touristy" was in fact very pleasant with good food and wine and not too expensive. There is a restaurant in the next street down called Alla Madonna which was recommended by the hotel, but we found it much too touristy and we were not impressed by the food or drink.

The Marconi Hotel was in a perfect location for our family of five (kids' ages 14, 11 and 6). We ate at two excellent restaurants recommended by the reception and near the hotel. The stairs were not a problem for us (as we live on the fourth floor, no elevator in Paris!). The beds were very comfortable. The only negative point: rooms lack sound-proofing so could hear the noise in the hallway and in the rooms next to us. However, there was no noise from the outside. We enjoyed the breakfasts and the private boat ride (the children's favorite part of our trip to Venice!) to Murano plus the tour offered by the hotel. It was a great vacation thanks, in part, to our Marconi stay.

Beware of trip offered to Murano Island for free. You must pay for return trip wich is either by vaporetto or water taxi wich cost us 60 euros. The water taxis are very expensive in Venice. The vaporettos are usually very full and luggage is charged by the piece plus fare. We paid for the location of the hotel which is at the Rialto bridge and nothing more in the way of quality.

I am a US citizen but live and work in Gaeta Italy. This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way possible! The web-site could represent this better but once you arrive you will see that it is not only a great location right by the Rialto bridge but there is great service the entire time you stay. Easy to find, air condition throughout the entire building and an excellent continental breakfast! For Americans visiting Europe for the first time: don't expect your hotel to be like Holiday Inn or the Hilton when traveling in Europe. This hotel is very nicely decorated and met all the needs of my family while traveling. We were very impressed!!

We were in Venice for a couple of days (one night) in February 2008. The Marconi is an older, charming, middle-range hotel, in an outstanding location. It sits right on the grand canal near the Rialto bridge. It’s situated at the midpoint of many destinations, and near a major waterbus stop (lines #1, 2, and others). We traveled as a family of four (kids 9 and 12) and stayed in one of the hotel’s quad rooms. It was clean and comfortable – not particularly spacious, but that is understandable in Venice. The breakfast had a wide variety of choices: eggs, breakfast meats, cereals, yogurts, cheese, breads, and much more. The staff was friendly and always available to give us advice on restaurants and other activities. There is no elevator so be ready to climb flights of stairs. All in all, it’s a thumbs up.

Perfect location. I upgraded my room to a room with a balcony overlooking the Rialto Bridge. Loved it. Sitting on the balcony overlooking the city is magical. The front desk sent a bottle of wine to my room when I told them it was my birthday. Much appreciated. The breakfast room was clean and bright with fine food. The problem was the room/hotel smelled musty/moldy. (My husband didn't notice) Other problem, the front desk guy kept pushing us to take the tour out to the glass factorys. Really pushing. Seems like he would recieve a commission if he got us out there. Everytime he saw us in the lobby he bugged us. We kept saying maybe, so he stayed nice but as soon as we said no, he became angry and very unfriendly/helpful. He also tried to arrange for us a water taxie. We found out his price was much higher then if he organized one for ourselves. The water busses seem to go on strike (stop running) for several hours during the day right around check-out times. That forces you to use the water taxis. (pay more) You can double up with others and the taxis will let you reduce your share of the fare. Bathroom and room super small.

This hotel is a few doors down from the Rialto Bridge which has all the great "cheaper" shopping stalls. Sitting outside at the little tables the hotel provides is just beautiful. You can watch people get on the gondolas right there. It is a simple boat ride from the train station to the hotel and back. The breakfast provided has a better variety than most hotels. The room is on the small side. The bathroom is medium size, no bathroom counter space except a small shelf on top for your things. I picked this hotel to get a view of the Grand Canal, but didn't get on one. I think I would not pay the price since there is no view and Venice doesn't intimidate me anymore and I sort of know my way around. I think I could stay at a less expensive hotel away from the canal and have just as nice a room. This hotel is nice for first time visitors, but I would stay at another place next time. I am glad I stayed here the first time. It was the most expensive hotels of our trip and it probably was due to the location.

Very central location, on the Grand Canal, very close to Rialto Bridge. Very old building and rooms were exactly as photos, of a certain style, but not spacious. Ensuite bathroom modern, clean etc. Man on hotel reception was more than helpful with his recommendations of restaurants for lunch, evening meal. He advised us on concerts etc. We only managed to get to one of his restaurant recommendations as they were well tucked away and not always open at the times we went. The meal that we did have in the restaurant he suggested to us was excellent. We would never have found this place by any other means. He advised us where booking was necessary and offered to make dinner reservations for us. Breakfast was excellent with too many tasty options!I felt very well looked after in this hotel.

The main thing going for this hotel is its location - and it seems that the staff/owners are aware of this. Venice as a whole is often refered to rightly as the toursit trap that it is, and this seems to come through from the staff. Our room was booked as a 'superior' room... in fact there was not much room at all (just enough for the bed - which by the way, two singles pushed togther do not make a double in our minds) and our windows opened onto a side alley way. Breakfast on both mornings was limited at best with what 'hot' food there was being left out as cold - eggs, sausages and some ham. We have had better at the majority of hotels we have previously used, and this would include our last visit to Venice. Our last major concern cenntres around the staff. Whilst we were met by a very charming gentleman at check in, when we raised concern at being woken at 7.30 am the following day by construction work next to our window, the opening question from the new attending manager was' would you like to change hotel?' ... this IS NOT what we expect when we have just had our wedding anniversary spoilt by loosing our chosen sleep time... The particular manager was about the rudest we have ever known and for this reason alone we would NOT return to this hotel, although in fairness to him, had we not met hime we would still not return due to the other constraints. If you book here, then just ensure that you manage your own expectations, as we were aware of the location and how Venice is run from our previous trip and still managed to have the feeling of being badly let down when we went home. Our advice is look a bit further from main toursist attractions for your place to sleep and you will get fair value!

The hotel was very nice and we were helped with our luggage at every occassion. Great and best Breakfast we'd had on our trip was included in price and free taxi and tour of glass factory was nice addition. Helpful staff. Only complaints were-room was not very updated, was spacious and clean but on first floor facing alley with a sealed off door out. Someone in alley tried to kick door in several times around 2:00 a.m. so was a hard to sleep after that. They left when the light went on. Staff didn't/couldn't do much about it. Think it was a fluke thing. Area seemed safe when we were out earlier. Otherwise, the location was the best and so easy to find. Right next to Realto Bridge, and Grand Canal as well as some wonderful restaurants on the canal right outside our front door, shops and every kind of transportation. 82 stopped across from us, Gondola ride was highlight of trip. Walking distance to San Marcos and most attractions. Suggest spending the evening at the square and enjoy the dualling orchestras after your gondola ride. Venice was our favorite stop in all of Europe and this hotel helped it to happen. PS. Park at Tronchetto parking garage. Easiest and cheapest and quickest way to get into Venice.

Location is excellent - 6 euros by vaporetto (number 82 from the train station) and it stops just on the other side of the rialto bridge. Not all vaporetti go as far as San Marco so that is an advantage of staying here. The staff are also extremely helpful and selection offered at breakfast time was excellent. My room had quite a bit of internal noise from other guests coming up the stairs and also sound carrying through the walls from other rooms - but it was right next to the staircase so other rooms may not be like that. The room did smell a bit smokey but probably my own fault for not asking for non smoking room. Bathroom facilities were very good and clean also. Price did seem a little high for what you get but that is probably mainly a reflection of venice.

This was our first time in Venice and we enjoyed the central location, the concierge service, and (for the most part) the recommendations of restaurants etc. There was some noise from room above or adjacent (young children), but we were so tired at the end of each day that this did not interfere with sleep. Excellent location. Decent hotel, though rooms are a bit dingy, but clean and comfortable. No room tea or coffee though. Good breakfast. The hotel arranged a boat to take us to Murano the first morning (before we had a chance to check out the local prices for Murano glass items!Guess they get a commission) Luckily we did not buy anything there as the prices are more than double on the island. So beware! We had to get the water taxi back. Very pricey restaurant just below the hotel, but good food. Daily newspapers were provided in the foyer which we could bring to the room. Staff were ok, no problems. If you get sick of Italian food there is a decent Chinese joint in one of the streets behind the hotel, 2 minutes walk.

My fiancee and I had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Marconi. The location right next to the Rialto Bridge is unbeatable. You can even see the hotel from the vaporetto as you approach the Rialto stop. We had booked a standard double and were disappointed on our first night as we discovered the bed linen was dirty and had to be changed, but the following morning the manager offered to move us to a superior room for the rest of our stay at no extra cost. Both rooms were quiet and spacious, the bathrooms were immaculate and having control of the air conditioning in the room was a bonus. Unfortunately the hotel does not have a bar, but the sofas at reception and tables outside on the Grand Canal are lovely. Staying at the Marconi is not cheap but the price is understandable considering the amazing location.

I was flustered when I arrived (did not know you had to park the car in the parking garage and take a water taxi to hotel) but when I arrived the hotel staff was so accomodating. In fact they even had a bottle of champage in the room -- what a nice surprise. The bathrooms was GREAT! And what thick towels. This place is a little pricy -- but then again this is Venice. It is centrally located and worth it I believe!

This is a wonderful hotel. We very much enjoyed our stay here and will most definitely return. Perfect location, outstanding breakfast. Staff (particularly front desk) was exceptionally helpful. Rooms combined modern comforts with old world charm. Truly a gem!

Marconi is in a great location on Grand Canal by Rialto Bridge and easy walking distance to other Venice attractions. Breakfast was good with lots of choices. We were very satisfied and felt it was a good value. However if stairs are a problem for you, this is a poor choice. Also be aware that you will have to haul suitcases up and over Rialto Bridge to/from Vaporetto stop. We loved Venice and would stay here again if returning.

The Marconi was clean and comfortable. It was a little roundabout getting to the second floor as you had to traverse up to the first floor, all the way down the hall, and then up another set of steps. The breakfast room and menu were terrific.

Wonderful location. Not a problem to us but hotel does not appear to be suited to people with disabilities - our room was four flights of stairs up. Clean and tidy. Reception staff very helpful and spoke wonderful english. Always willing to advise on places to see and restaurants for evening meals. Breakfast was good with sufficient variety to suit all tastes including cooked breakfast, toast, cereals, rolls and croissants along with fresh fruit. Very friendly cafe/bar on opposite side of Rialto bridge. Reasonable prices and seats right next to the grand canal, directly under Rialto bridge. Make sure you have a good map of venice - we used 'Venice Everyman Map Guides'. Pocket sized with fold-out maps that you could read without a magnifying glass! Would advise you to get a water-bus (Vaporetto) pass. Saves a fortune and makes finding your way back to your hotel so easy when you are wandering aimlessly and have had enough!

Carlo who worked at the desk wss very patient, helpful, courteous and competent toward everyone. Breakfast was wonderful. Having to go elsewhere for a coffee was inconvenient. I'd prefer to have a hotel that also has it's own coffee shot and restaurant.

The hotel tried their best at accommodating us. We were traveling in a group of 4 and somehow I missed checking off a box that there would be two in each room when I booked. We had one double room and then they made a single room into a double for us…a bit tight, but we weren’t in the room much except for sleeping. No air-conditioning and I wouldn't advise leaving your windows open for fresh air (bug bites!!!).

I have stayed at the Marconi before, the staff are very helpful and welcoming, and it represents good value for money. It is also an easy location to find for anyone unused to finding their way around Venice.

A very good hotel in all. Hard to beat the price for the great location. A little noisy, but that is a by-product of the Rialto location. Nice rooms, not large but with excellent bathroom facilities. No elevator, which some may find a problem if they're on the fourth floor, as we were. I chose to view it as good exercise. Breakfast was very good with a wide range of food and beverages. Staff was very helpful in arranging tours, tour guides, and transfers by water taxi. I will look first at the Marconi when I return to Venice, assuming the prices don't rise much.

Book a superior room with the understanding that it would be canal view but it wasn't. When you book here and you want a view ask for canal view. Carlo handled the situation very well and they gave us sparkling wine for our aniversary. Breakfast was best in Italy

We travelled with my parents in law and were lucky enough to get a cancellation when we arrived of a room at the front with a double balcony overlooking the Rialto. Was worth the extra 80 euro (on top of 110 booked) for the view alone! Our own room was small in comparison, but clean .. plenty of hot water and towels etc. Would stay again. Staff were very friendly.

The staff was excellent. Carlo went to great lengths to make us feel comfortable and to try to maximize our stay in Venice. Extremely helpful and cordial. Not enough can be said about it. The location, next to the Rialto bridge, in the middle of Venice and everything was awesome. Great job, staff and experience!!!!!

The location is brilliant, the room was small but adequate,it was too hot,we had to turn the heating down and this was march, the breakfast was superb although the scrambled eggs weren`t what I expected, overall it was excellent with plenty of choice. The free taxi ride to the glass factory was a nice touch,as was the glass blowing demo, even though there was a hard sell to get you to purchase. All in all I would definitely go back, only criticism I have is the price I paid was higher than the current as I booked it quite some time prior.the price came down on the web but I was charged the higher of the two,it was only 6 euros difference so it wasn`t such a big deal. Still good value. Highly recommended

We have just returned from Venice, where we had a fantastic time. This was due in the main to the Hotel Marconi, I cannot find fault, the room was excellent very roomy, spotlessly clean with the most comfortable hotel bed I have slept in. Considering the central location (adjacent to the Rialto Bridge) the room was very quiet. The staff are all extremely friendly & helpful & there is an excellent choice for breakfast. One of the highlights of our stay was on the saturday when the Hotel arranged for us to visit a glass blowing factory on Murano Island, we were taken there free of charge by water taxi. Where we saw a glass blower at work, although under no obligation I bought 3 pieces of glass, as they were of much better quality & far cheaper than what is available in the shops. I cannot recomend this trip highly enough. I have no hesitation in recomending this Hotel to anyone visiting Venice.

Hotel Marconi was wonderful. There was a real Bathtub with shower, we were happy about that after experiencing TINY showers at other hotels. The room was very clean but was small. However, we discovered that is the standard. Breakfast was the best we experienced on our trip-with scrambled eggs and bacon instead of the standard hard rolls, cheese and salami/ham. Staff was helpful. Location was AWESOME! Would definately stay here again and recommend to friends/family.

The staff at the Marconi was welcoming and gracious. We had a clean, quiet triple room on the third floor. Next time we would prefer a lower floor. The buffet breakfast was delicious and the location of the hotel put you in walking distance of many interesting sites. The Grand Canal is beautiful! Highly recommended to anyone who wants great location and good value. We'll definitely book again!

Reception was excellent. Breakfast staff was competent but made you extremely unconfortable because already at 9:30 they started with cleaning up and airing the place in order to be able to close the breakfast room at 10´o clock sharp which makes the guest definitively feel unwanted. Single room was clean and bathroom impeccable but room itself was depressing (no regular window but only a small window under the ceiling with almost no daylight)- especially since I stayed 9 days. Location of the hotel though is excellent.

Great location! walking distance to all the fun things around Rialto Bridge. You could walk out the front door and have a bunch of restaurants to choose from or be in the Rialto market in 2 minutes. The room was nice, though we had requested a canal view, we got one of an alley. But it didn't bother us really. The bed was comfortable, the bath room was clean with a hairdryer and a good shower. The maid service was great. It was quiet, and the breakfast was awesome, though the little staff ladies could be a little cranky. Breakfast was not only the usual cereal and rolls, but eggs, bacon, tea, prunes(ew) and various cheeses and yogurts, as well as any jam or nutella to go with your crossiant. We were able to get answers to all our questions at the front desk, and they provided on request a day pass for the vaporetto(10.50 euro, same price as getting it at the ticket stand), and also sold stamps. One of the hotel desk men could be a little grim, but we can to realize it wasnt us, it was just his demeanor, and it grew on us. Lovely hotel, I would recommend it! It was the best one on our trip of 4 different hotels.

Great location at Rialto Bridge and helpful staff....but no lift so we requested and got room on first floor. Room was very nice (facing side alleyway) and quite spacious for Venice! Breakfast was usual continental fayre of juice/tea/coffee, cereals, fruit, bread/rolls, cheese and cold meats plus scrambled eggs and ham or sausages....very adequate. Overall, good value for money.

Overall Marconi Hotel was excellent, however upon checking out on the final day I found the reception staff to be very rude. My friend booked and paid for our stay over the internet for a birthday present. On checking out staff said they could not accept the payment as she had not faxed her authorization through. This place was great! And the location was perfect! Next to the Rialto Bridge this hotel could not be any easier to find from the Water Taxi, or public transport. When we arrived the Hotel we were very happy with the inside decor...real clean and nice! As for the desk help...well let's just say they are friendly but not over the top. ( Don't take their advise on food...they get kick back.) One resturant we tried and it turned out to be the BEST EAT!!! we had while in Venice was: LA BITTA Dorsoduro 2753/a-S.Barnaba Tel: 041-523-0531 The room be booked was one of two that has the Canal view with the outside terrace ( it was worth the little extra money it was. The room was clean along with the bathroom. But the view was just great, and the window doors to the outside are dubble so when closed it's not loud. Breakfast was nice and the food did not cane the whole time we were there, but it was always fresh and clean. In all if I was going to go to Venice I would not question staying there again, we loved it!

Great location and very easy to find. It was literally right beside the Rialto Bridge and was very easy to find which was a plus considering we were checking in at 10:00 at night. Not only was the location great and within walking distance of everything the rooms were also very nice and spacious. The staff was welcoming and helpful and the breakfest was GREAT. We will definately be booking this hotel for next year and will be recommending it to all our friends. The only thing I will do different is book earlier so that I can get a canal veiw. We had a very good stay at the hotel Marcony in Venice. The hotel's location is excellent (next to the Rialto bridge) close to many restaurants, shops and transpotation. The breakfast was very good although the coffee served needs improvement. The room was cleaned twice a day but it was not a spacious one. Anyway, you don't come to Venice to spend your time in your hotel room.

We loved this hotel. It had a great location just over the Rialto bridge. It was clean and quaint. The rooms were decent size and bathrooms were nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. One note: take minumal luggage to Venice. We made the mistake of taking too much and didn't know we could have checked it at the train station. Venice is a tough place to get around rolling suitcases. Beautiful
