The location is perfect and within a minute's walk from St Marks Square. I had thought it would hard to find but we had no trouble arriving by Vaporetto and getting off at San Zaccharia. Our 4 bed room was spacious and clean. There was a shared sitting area as well. We weren't in the main hotel building but we overlooked the canal which has the Bridge of Sighs. Breakfast was satisfactory for the rating of the hotel. Mother and teenagers very happy with the Lux

This is the sweetest hotel one can stay!!! Staff is always ready for helping you and are pleasead to suggest places to visit! It's super central also. One little problem is the amount of stairs you have to do every dar to get to the room. But overall is PERFECT!

Good location, easy to find just few minutes from the water-bus station. Short distance to most of the spectacular places. Overall the hotel is a good choice comparing the price.

Decent hotel in a good location. Note that this is a walk-up - no elevator, but not a big problem unless you have a lot of bulky luggage. This is close to Piazza San Marco. The entrance is from a small side street - there is a very visible sign pointing the way.

Wonderful week in Venice staying at Hotel Lux. Perfect location, it's always easy to find your way back to hotel even after a party if the hotel is just right besides San Marco. Overpriced - yes, as all the hotels in Venice, but you wake up in the middle of the city and don't have to take long boat ride or walk home at night.

The room we had for 4 adults was crammed, but unexpectedly quiet. The breakfast area was equally crammed and there were long lines on each of the mornings we were there. Breakfast was a forgettable affair. The location of the hotel is its main plus point. I would otherwise consider it an expensive place.

This is my 5th time in Venice, 1st at Lux Hotel. Breakfast has been by far worst I ever had here ; no space and VERY limited options (croissant or piece of bread), and subject to constant surveillance from the woman at the desk.It seemed that she thought we wanted to steal some foods.

The location was excellent, 2 minutes from the lagoon and 5 minutes for San Marco. The immediate locality is off putting in that the very small entrance is easily missed as it is in a narrow, not very clean, alleyway OFF the Calle delle Rasse and not as per address. The interior is well appointed and quaint but the Breakfast Room / Bar was not big enough for the number of guests and it was necessary to wait on a couple of mornings. We were allocated a room on the 4th floor -69 steps from the entrance and 53 to breakfast /reception. Hard work when you are 70 years old but the compensation was a small balcony from which, if you leaned over the edge, you could just see across the lagoon to San Georgio Maggiore [pity about the TV satelite dish on the Palazzo Danielle] nad the top of the Campanile. THe real joy of this hotel was that it led you to explore the small canals and piazze of the Castello and discover restaurants and bars away from the tourist crowds. Recommend the waterbus from the airport -ticket machine [E13 pp] in the airport near the baggage carousels and information desk {Blu or Red route]. Please note the famous [sic] Harry's Bar is over-rated, expensive and has less character than 100's on English pubs Photo's by separate E-mail as my computer won't attach them to this questionairre

This hotel is a very good value for Venice. Our room was on the small side but quite adaquate, very clean and beautifully decorated in typical Venician style. There is no elevator so be prepared to carry luggage up steep narrow stairs. The location can't be beat. Just a short walk from the San Zaccaria vaperetto stop and St. Marks square. There are many restaurants and shops nearby and the Cafe on the corner has very good food at reasonable prices.

Venice is a small city, we chose this Hotel because of it's proximity to St Marco's Sq. I would not do so again. Hotel was fine but surrounding cafe's and restaurants were way over priced with poor quality food. find places to eat a little further out than St Marco's Sq.

What an amazing find! You get off the water boat and the hotel is straight ahead. The room was great we had 402 with a balcony. The room has a bath which was wonderful after a day walking round Venice. The staff were always cheerful and very helpful. There is noise but shut the door and you hear nothing. St Marks is just 2 mins away. The breakfast was nothing special but was more than enough. We wouldn't hesitate to stop here again.

Better map can be very big help. We had a problem to find the right alley. In propositions you can find: “Your credit card will not be charged by Venere.com. Payment is to be made directly to the hotel at the end of your stay.“ I was really surprised that I was charged for the first night 19.10. 2008 despite the date of my arrival was 24.10.2008.

The location 2 alleys over from the St Marks square is fantastic, and a stones throw from a major vaporetto stop. Late night strolls over to the square were a highlight. The room while small was clean, reasonably well furnished, and had double-glazing to shut out the street noise. As usual the so-called triple room was a double with cot bed, which I wouldn't mind if it was advertised as such. The bold striped wall paper was a bit overpowering :-) The bathroom was modern and excellent. Air con was available on request but had no working controls in the room. Breakfast was one of the more generous on the trip in the small but classy breakfast room. Staff mostly spoke English, the night guy spoke good English but was otherwise not as forthcoming with information as other staff. No lift.

The location of Lux is excellent as it is very close to the vaporetto stop of San Zaccaria. Once I managed to drag my heavy suitcase up the steep and narrow stairs, there was hardly any space for it in the tiny room. The so called breakfast room is a little corner in the reception. In my opinion, Lux is overpriced but then again, everything is overpriced in Venice.

Near St. Mark's square. It should have been mentioned that there were only very narrow stairs to climb up and carry your suitcase. No lift at all. No service to help you in carrying the suitcases, older people could hardly have managed. Breakfast was quite modest. The room was clean but worn, bathroom was clean. Only for one night stay.

The location was wonderful. We very much enjoyed walking around "the neighborhood," especially around San Marco Piazza. The room was clean and comfortable; the staff was accommodating, pleasant, and helpful. The only discomfort was crossing 2 bridges with our luggage to reach the hotel!

I chose this hotel based on price and location. The price is half of what the canal front hotels charge, and it is located right around the corner from the Piazza San Marco. The hotel was very easy to find, and our room (the exact one in the pictures!) was ready when we got there. The breakfast room/bar was cozy and well appointed. The included breakfast was filling and helped us start our busy days. Everything was so convenient, the San Zaccaria vaporetto stop, shopping, restaurants, etc. The gelateria at the end of calle delle rasse was a nightly treat for us. The hotel staff were multi-lingual, very friendly and helpful. The water was hot, and towels plentiful. When I return to Venice, I will stay at the Lux. I highly recommend it.

I spent my girlfriend (and me) a weekend in Venice to engage her - and we did! So I had arranged to be close to anything in Venice as well as in a little, tidy room in a quiet hotel - and we were, indeed! Our flight back took off ad 10 pm. But: Check out had to be till 11 am and we could store our luggage at the hotel's luggage room and pick up later on (at 7 pm). So this service was very (!) helpful. However the price was 200,- Euro per night for a double room. I estimate that fair would have been 180,- Euro at least. But consider: You are in expensive venice, and even around 250 meters away from San Marco basilica! Finally consider: Once more, Venice is expensive. If you stay for only a few days, stay direct in Venice (i.e. in town), but be aware of the middle "Sestieri" Santa Croce as well as San Polo. We enjoyed to promenade in the lovely lanes of "Castello", wherein hotel Lux is based in. For a short weekend trip I would retourn to hotel Lux.

This hotel was situated very well. My girlfriend and I made the mistake of getting off at the San Marco vaparetto stop, but you're better off stopping at Zacharia. The hotel's street is right across from the stop. It was a confortable room, which was quiet, dark, and air conditioned quite well (It was bright, noisy and hot as hell outside :-). The room was right near San Marco, and many of the other areas were a short walk or vaparetto ride away. Venice is VERY expensive, and this hotel was a bit expensive as well, but a nice room overall.

We were 3 couples traveling together. One of the rooms was identical to the one showed on the website and in excellent conditions and the other 2 rooms were in a nearby building and not quite as spacious and nice. However, overall the hotel experience was very positive and the fact that there are no bridges to climb upon arrival is a big plus (it is located just 50 meters from the San Marco/Zacarias vaporreto stop). Warning.. there is no elevator or lift however upon e arrival the night clerk was very helpful and took up the luggage. With all this in mind and having stayed in other locations in Venice I would definitely stay at the LUX again and recommend the property for its location and the overall experience.

We had an excellent stay at the Lux. The positive aspects of this hotel were: 1) Quiet. We are light sleepers and once we closed the door we couldn't hear much. 2) Friendly staff 3) Proximity to the sites. The hotel had the best location near St Marks and the vaporetto stop. Was very easy to find. 4) The room and hotel was decorated nicely and felt romantic. We paid about 170 euros in september, which is normal i hear... but was worth it for the location. Would recommend fully.

My husband and I stayed at your hotel in Sept for 3 nights. It was quite a hike up to our room on the 4th floor. I really can't complain. The room was clean and bathroom also tip top. The room was a bit small, though it served our needs Sleep. It was perfectly located in the heart of the city. A five minute walk to st marks square. If I were to visit Venice again or had friends taking a trip I would recommend The Lux.

Overall Hotel Lux is an excellent hotel - well-located, surprisingly quiet, with staff that are generally friendly and helpful. The rooms are perfectly adequate, if a little small. The breakfasts are fine - good coffee (less so the tea), small white rolls and croissants of acceptable quality, joghurt, basic cereal and either grapefruit or melon juice. The breakfast room is small, but we never had problems finding a seat because we came early at 8 o'clock. There is a vaporetto stop literally two minutes from the hotel down Calle del Rasse, as well as an internet cafe (well, they don't serve coffee, but you can go on the internet there) nearby. The restaurants in the area are expensive and often you get rushed through your meal so that the next tourists can empty their pockets, but I would not follow the advice of going to the Rialto area to eat. The price difference is minimal, and the quality of food near Hotel Lux is very good whatever the price and the 'get on with your spaghetti' pressure which is applied. If you're a jogger, then Hotel Lux is the place for you. Down from the Hotel is the bank of the Grand Canal, and you can run along there down to the Garden of Remembrance and back - but before 8am. After that the tourists begin to swarm over the bridges.... Anyway, I thought Hotel Lux really very good value for money, and the one or two horror stories I read about it from other guests are incomprehensible to me, at least.

This was our second stay at the Lux within two years and you can't beat the location and the price/quality relation for the double rooms. We surely would stay there again. Rooms are spotlessly clean, but a bit small. But that's common, not just in Venice. We can only recommend this Hotel.

The Lux is a very unique hotel. Our room was lovely, and the hotel is in a perfect spot. It was very close to Saint Mark's Square, but being tucked away in a little alley gave it a quaint homey feel, and took us out of all the tourist hubbub. We were here for our honeymoon, and the staff even gave us a bottle of champagne to welcome us, which we thought was a very nice touch. The only complaint we had was the air conditioning. We were in the very top room (#501), and the vents were positioned in such a way that the room never cooled off enough for us. It was very unfortunate, because this really is a lovely hotel. The staff was as accomodating as they could be, providing us with a very nice fan. I would certainly stay here again, but if you are sensitive to the heat, I suggest asking for a lower room, perhaps on the 2nd or 3rd floor, rather than the top. Otherwise, stay in 501, because it glows with charm.

The excuse this time was vague. Bath was cold. NO HOT WATER!!!! No excuse this time, and no hot water. NO HOT WATER!!!! At breakfast the second morning all guests in the room agreed that there was no hot water. NO HOT WATER!!!! At check out the manager claimed she had been gone the two days and that she would call the owner. I would not go to this hotel again. My husband and I spent part of our honeymoon at this quaint hotel. Great location if you want to be in the hub of all the great sites of Venice as well as easily access the others by the water-bus system. Very easy to find, we had a wonderful room in the main hotel on the third floor with a two windows opening to the center square of the hotel. Upon arrival our bags were carried up to the hotel but i did not see any type of elevator as we carried our bags down. The room was decorated beautifully with fabric lined walls and warm comforting colors. The room was spacious with room for our two suitcases, a closet, desk, and huge bathroom with a full bathtub. Compared to other hotels this was definitely above average. My only discomfort was the small dining area where breakfast was served, only 12-15 people can eat at once and while we ate breakfast others eagerly waited (Nice choice of pastries, cereal, and yogurt). I would reccommend this location for someone who is visiting Venice for the first time, I myself might want to stay somewhere that is off the beaten path having been to Venice a couple of times.

Excellent location. I have stayed in other hotels in Venice and this has been the best in terms of location.

Highly recommend staying here, it was a real deal off season for less than 100 euro. Location excellent, and very near water taxi. Room nicely decorated, I think we were upgraded as we had lots of space (seperate room for dressing area). Our room was in a different bldg though (overflow?). breakfast basic cheese and croisants but heck it's free.

we were very pleased indeed with the location and price and the staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. The only negative factor was being on top floor and no lift

This is a comfortable small hotel, with extremely friendly, hospitable and competent staff, who put genuine effort into making us feel welcome and comfortable. The room was small, but with a balcony and excellent view towards the Grand Canal. Situated within three minutes' walk of St Mark's Square, it offers excellent value for money as a base for visiting this wonderful city. The breakfast room was a little small for the number of guests staying there at the time of our visit, but we had to wait for only a few minutes until a table became vacant and cleaned ready for our use. There is a bit of a lack of really good restaurants close by, but that is the fault of the St Mark's area, rather than the Lux Hotel. We thoroughly recommend it for comfort, cleanliness and value for money.

A very acceptable hotel. The inside is very well maintained, rooms are small but nicely appointed. I could clearly hear the people upstairs return and use the TV which made it difficult to sleep. The lane down which the hotel is located is pretty shabby.

Good location. A bit pricey for the room, but fine for Venice/location. Breakfast fine - typical European hotel breakfast. Be sure you like to walk up stairs. Staff was helpful, but don't use them as a source for restaurant locations - not good recommendations.

The hotel is ideally located near Saint Marc Square The rooms are clean, but a little small. The enterance is a little hard to find since it is off an alley and not on the addres street. Be aware that there is no lift and the stairs are steep. The bathroom is small but usable. And it is very quite at night.

This place is perfect for seeing everything in Venice. It was very very reasonable considering the location. It is right beside St Mark's square. We had a little room on the top floor of the annex with a small balcony. There is no elevator but that didn't bother us since we had a good view. The breakfast was fine too and the breakfat ladies were very good-humoured. Definitely recommend this place if you are coming to see Venice.

This hotel really is perfectly located to explore Venice. It is within a minute of St Marks square in a really nice street with lots of restaurants and cafes on the doorstep. Though I wouldn't reccomment eating / drinking in St Marks square, there are some real bargains in the nearby streets. The breakfast was fantastic, though there were not that many seats, and the room, though quite small, was really nicely decorated and was perfect for our 2 night stay. We loved our stay here and would reccommend it to anyone wishing to visit Venice. One of our favourite hotels in our two and a half weeks in Italy!

Excellent Location, 2 mins walk from St Marks Square. Room itself is a little small, but very nice, all the modern gadgets in room and bathroom very modern and good size. Breakfast was OK, but breakfast room a little small. Raj and Rupa (London, UK)

1. Location: steps away from San Marco's Square 2. Room: TINY and it was located in another building behind the main hotel. Is this where the discount people stay?? 3. Breakfast: crossiant only- don't expect anything else. Hold out and eat lunch elsewhere. 4. Staff: limited English. Don't speak outside of hotel idioms, you get blank confused then angry looks. Location is a HUGE plus, but we would try other hotels nearby.

Overall a good choice for anyone staying in Venice. However, like most things in Venice it is rather expensive given what you actually get, but in Venice i terms it is good value for money and I do recommend it.

We were very happy with our stay at the Lux. The location was perfect, right around the corner from St.Marks square. Considering the location the price was very reasonable. The room was a little small but very clean and cozy. The breakfast room was a little tight. The staff was welcoming and friendly. We were very happy with our stay and would recommend the Lux hotel to others!

Very nice rooms at a fabulously central location. This is a small hotel, so have no illusions about a spacious lobby, etc, but rooms and breakfast arrangements are just fine.

The Hotel Lux was an excellent deal. The best thing about it is the location. It is right off the grand lagoon and easy to find. It is a stones throw from Piazza de San Marcos and we had a view of the bell tower from our bathroom window. The room we had was up three fights of stairs which wan't a problem for us and it allowed us to have a better view. The room was small but clean with a spacious bath. The staff ranged from a very nice woman who made us coffee in the breakfast room to a somewhat sullen teenage bell hop. I would recommend the Lux to travelers who don't mind steps.

The Hotel Lux is in a very central location -- just a short walk from St. Marks square. The staff were wonderful, rooms are charming, with the traditional decorations. We had a two and three bedroom room, and while main bedroom was a bit cozy, the beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms are quite spacious. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Everything was good about this hotel for the price, except that we booked a room in the main hotel and were taken to a room around the corner. We don't know if the rooms in the main hotel were bigger but the entrance was nicer. We didn't mind staying around the corner but would have like to be told when we booked. Breakfast was good, with great coffee. The best thing about the hotel is that it is just a few steps from the S. Zaccaria Vaparetto stop and also just a short walk from S. Marco stop. We would definitely stay here again.

Hotel Lux is spread accross three seperate buildings - none of which have elevators; so be aware: if you are foolishly hauling alot of luggage around, this place is not for you! Otherwise, if you want to be right on top of San Marco square, and not pay a fortune for a nice, clean room - this is the place. It's a two minute walk to the San Zaccaria vaporetti stop. Be sure to have a map, as the buildings are located in what Americans would consider alleyways, and can be very easy to miss. I want to thank venere.com for helping to make my European vacation a great one! A few hours of legwork got me 3 great hotels in Paris, Verona, and Venice - all of which were perfect for my budget and style. I had none of the common problems with language or price after educating myself a bit up front. Ciao!

We had a family of 4; 2 adults and 2 children and we had a great time. The selling points of the hotel are the value for your money, the location (very near St. Marks), and how clean the facility was. We were actually located in a different building than the reception -- and that was fine. I would stay here again if/when we return.
