The owners are very, very nice and helpful. We really had a pleasant stay and appreciated the private character of this little hotel. We definitely will come back again!

After reading reviews from other people who stayed there, most of them mentioned how difficult it was to find Locanda le Vele so before we left on our trip we asked for good directions from the airport to the hotel....and we're glad we did. Max and Ivan and their staff were very friendly and helpful and we were able to pay for our stay with a credit card...no problem. The hotel was located in a nice quiet part of town within easy walking distance of St. Marks Square and lots of great places to eat and shop. We were in a very nice, double room with windows overlooking a canal. Since there was no dining room in the hotel and our stay included breakfast, we were asked what time we wanted them to bring breakfast up to our room...very nice...didn't have to get dressed to leave the room. We would definitely stay there again.

WE had excellent service and the rooms were exceptional- We were a party of 7 - 4 in one room and 3 in the other- The accomodations were just as promised- The owners of this hotel took a lot of pride in their work and we will stay here in the future and have already recommended this hotel friends and family. Thanks-

Ivan and Max were very helpful, spoke English comfortably and did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. After initially having a little difficulty finding the place on the first day, it's location proved ideal. It is no more than 5 minutes to a vaporetto stop and eay walking distance to San Marco(15 mins)and the Acadamia, Rialto bridges. Get a Venice Pass for vaporettos covering your length of stay. If you have a lot of baggage, better to store some at train station and come back for rest on a second trip. It is difficult to get on a vaporetto with a lot of luggage at the busy times. Water taxi to hotel is 40euros!! We brought our big bags to the train station the night before leaving when the vaporettos weren't as crowded. Good, reasonable restaurants in area are Da Bruno's and La Buona Forchetta. Price for 3 nights was $707 CAD in May

Went as a family of four. Had a hard bumpy sofabed for the adults - very uncomfortable. Breakfast as written in other reviews is not breakfast as we would expect, just croissants, packeted toast and petite rolls, with drinks of your choice. The location of hotel is fantastic, very close to vaporetto and very easy to find. Shower is tiny but I think normal for Europe. The only other negative is that we had to pay cash for accommodation which is a bit daunting taking out and carrying around lots of cash.

We loved our stay at Laconda Le Vele. A really good location. WE had a room overlooking a canal and enjoyed the breakfast served in our room. Would stay here again. Just a 5 to 10 minute walk to major torist attractions and just 100m from one of the main ferry stops.

Very easy to reach from airport, number 1 bus then number 1 water bus. Combined ticket can be purchased at airport and bus stops right outside airport.Lovely rooms, no dining area but breakfast brought to room on time every morning so didnt have to rush to be ready on time. Would recomend this hotel.

The room we had for four people was beautiful, however the bathroom and especially the shower was tiny (literally 2.5' x 2.5') which left no room to bend over when the doors were shut. The staff was polite and helpful and spoke enough English to help us with most of our questions. The breakfast served in the room was nice but limited in selection (pastries, toast, jams, cheese, tea and coffee mostly). It was filling but each day was the same. We liked the location since it wasn't in the heart of Venice but was within a half mile walk of all the sights and was very quiet and next to a small canal which our windows opened up to. This walking time allowed us to shop while we headed toward the sights. Venice is like one large shopping mall with stores surrounding you everywhere you go. We particularly enjoyed talking with the mask designer, Stephano, at "Papier Mache". He was gracious enough to explain the art and history of the Venice masks and how important a role they played in Venice society. This shop was only a few blocks from the Locanda Le Vele. We did have to walk up one floor with our luggage since there wasn't a lift (elevator) to our room. This wasn't a big deal for us since we packed lightly, but it could be for others.

Nice little centrally located hotel. 10-15 mins on waterbus from Piazza le Roma. 5 mins walk to Grande Canal. Breakfast served in room which is decorated in old fashioned venetian style. Make sure you check out Burano LOVELY!

The hotel is run by 2 cousins. It is small (six rooms available) and personal. They delivered what was promised on the website and really tried to be very accommodating. Our room was one of the smaller rooms available and it easily accommodated 2 adults and 2 adult sized teenagers. The hotel lobby is on the 2nd floor. When we arrived at the hotel, one of the two owners rushed down the steps to help us with our luggage. It was very welcoming. Breakfast (continental) was brought to our room on time as requested. The location of the hotel was on a very quiet side street. But it was very convenient to the markets, restaurants and sites.

Nice little hotel tucked away in a little alley, by a little bridge. As the bridge was closed at the end of the alley, there was little foot traffic. Very helpful staff, terrific location - close to the waterbus stop and in the vacinity of shopping streets. Because there was no common breakfast room, breakfast in bed was a nice touch. Only negative was that the canal behind the hotel was under repair (and so was the bridge), otherwise would have had a nice view too! It didnt bother us too much that there were no public areas.

The hotel was a great place to stay in Venice. The furnishings could be updated but everything else was great. We had breakfast delivered to us and it was fresly baked in the morning. We would stay here again. We checked out in the morning and left our bags there until we had to leave to catch our train to Florence.

Le Vele is a very nice little hotel. Staff helpful and polite. Continental breakfast was ample and delivered to room. Very quiet location which can be a problem in Venice. Great location, few minutes from Ca D'oro and less than 10 minutes from Rialto. Only gripe was the shower cubicle in our room was very small. Will stay here again.

Excellent central location alongside a picturesque canal. It is worth upgrading to the suite if possible as it is much larger than the regular double rooms and overlooks the canal (from a substantial stone balcony).

Ever dream of a romantic interlude in Venice, but don't want to it to eat up all of your vacation money for the next year? Conveniently located half way between the railway station and St. Mark's Square, this little inn is just a few steps from the Ca' D'Oro vapretto stop. We have stayed at the Gritti, the Daneli, and many other places at both ends of the hotel spectrum, but the Locanda Le Vele is truly exceptional for a 3 star hotel. There are only 6 suites and all are luxuriously furnished with ornate Venetian Provincial furniture, tastefully done and exceptionally roomy - bigger than most of the top end hotels. Our room had a king size bed, a pull out sofa, a 3 chair/table sitting area, a private bath with shower, satellite TV, minibar, dial telephone, safe, air conditioning and breakfast room service. The friendly staff spoke fluent English and were very helpful. The only negatives were no lift and a small shower. However for the price, you can't beat it! We also found the prices at the restaurants near the hotel to be more reasonable than the ones close to St. Mark's Square.

PROS: Nice room with luxurious-looking Venetian decor - Murano chandelier, baby angel statues on bed headboards, very large room for European hotel, includes a table and chairs for breakfast. Free wi-fi, refrigerator, pretty clean. Owner was nice but has a tendency to make "mistakes" to increase profit. Good value for the room you get. Easy to get to, especially if you take the vaporetto to Ca d'Oro stop. Walking from train station is quite a long way and you have to climb steps to go over 7 canal bridges. Good breakfast served in the room. Quiet location in a small alley, but very close to Strada Nuova, Rialto bridge and vaporetto stops. Good location -- you can easily walk to the main tourist spots. CONS: When I e-mailed owner directly for a quote he "mistakenly" quoted high-season price and corrected it only after I pointed out that the dates in Nov should be low season. When I checked out, the total was given as 477 euros even though it should be 447 euros. It was 5:30 am and the night clerk claimed he cannot changed the total. After I insisted for 10 minutes, he called the owner. When I talked to the owner, at first he pretended not to understand what was going on and only after I insisted for correction, he finally said that I was correct. It helped that I had a copy of the original price quotes (booking sheet). Also, this hotel does NOT take credit cards. They pretend like the machine is out of order that day only, but after reading comments from others, it's obvious this hotel does NOT take CC. Be forewarned. Also, during our stay, the canal that our room looked over was under construction, so it was stagnant and the stench was pretty strong. We brought car air fresheners and jasmine incense, so we used those and it was fine. Without them, the canal stench would be bad.

We stayed in 5 hotels during our recent trip to italy. This included 2 hotels in venice. We changed to this hotel after the high season ended because the rate went down by 100 Euros from high season to off season. This was the only on of the 5 hotels we stayed at in Italy in which we were dissapointed. There were no common rooms at all. We were brought a meager breakfast to our room which we ate at the table provided in our room. Because of this table there was essentially no open floor space and the 3 of us had to take turns moving around the room. Although it wasn't a fault of the hotel they were working on a nearby canal while we were there and the smell in our room was disgusting. They had a sign up in the registration area when we arrived that credit cards were't be accepted (temporarily). 3 days later when we checked out the sign was still up. When I asked what the clerk wanted to do he held the cables together on their connection to the credit card network and made it work. This place may have been nice at one time, but I would recommend staying somewhere else.

Fantastic hotel in great location, quiet but within easy walking distance of all main attractions.

We had a very pleasant stay at Locanda Le Vele. This room was a pleasant surprise compared to the hotel we stayed in last year when we visited Venice (which was more expensive!) We were a family of 3 adults and 3 children, and we managed to fit in the spacious superior suite! The furnishings are beautiful in the old Venetian style. The bathroom is large and the room was very clean. The entrance hall to the hotel is very pretty and spacious. The breakfast was more than adequate which is served in your room at your own requested time. There is a lovely balcony which overlooks a quiet canal. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The surroundings of the hotel are more in the residential area, which makes it a lot quieter, but the shops and restuarants are very nearby. The hotel is also very easy to find when you get off the water taxi (which is not an easy feat in Venice!). The only down side is the credit card facilities were not working so we had to pay cash (which we were not warned of in advance. Would definitely recommend this hotel, which is good value for its price, and that is quite hard to find in Venice.

Wonderful, lovely hotel. Easy to find, and in a great location. Best of all, we did not have to lug baggage up and down the numerous stairs around the city. It was a very short walk from the waterbus. This hotel was away from crowds, but close enough to easily walk to everything we wanted to see and do. The breakfast served in our rooms was very welcomed, and was just enough to start our day. The staff spoke english, and answered questions we had about directions. We would definitely go there again!

We were made very welcome and had a fantastic time, the hotel is well place for a single parent with two small children and the staff were fantastic. Our room was spacious and beautiful and overlooked the canal. Being able to have breakfast in the room was a real plus !!We really enjoyed our stay in Venice and my two boys found it magical. We would certainly go back to this hotel again.

We have stayed in Venice several times, so knew the area, and what we were looking for. The Locanda was well located, and easy to find. We had a beautiful room overlooking the canal, and were sorry we were only staying one night on this occasion. Breakfast was sufficient for our needs, and we were able to leave our luggage until we left for the airport. Only item missing was a kettle for making drinks (or perhaps we did not find it) but there are cafes just round the corner.

While the price might have been a little bit steep (like pretty much everything in Venice), the hotel staff definitely made every effort to make our stay an enjoyable one. We spent Xmas here - this being one of the few hotels open. We were impressed with how consistent the rooms were decorated, and not at least with the space (usually at a premium on the lagoon). The hotel is within easy reach from the vaporetto (even with luggage), adjacent to one of the major walks in Venice. Rialto stands just around the corner (same as the Casino) and San Marco is within a ~15 mins walk. Very good value compared to the rest of the offer.

The overal stay is great. The hotel is like a Palace for me and my gf. The service is good either. The only thing is the owner is not so good in English, so we have difficulty to understand each other. But if you can understand Italian, that is the best hotel I have lived in Italy. I highly recommended you live in this Hotel.

This hotel is an incredible value for the money, given how expensive Venice is. The rooms are quiet, clean and beautifully decorated. And, I loved how everyone who stays here has breakfast served to them each morning in their room. The only problem some might have with the hotel are the bathrooms: the bathroom showers are very narrow stalls that some might have trouble moving around in. The location off of Strada Nuova is a good for finding less touristy restaurants. Above all, I HIGHLY recommend Osteria al Bomba, which is on a side street a couple blocks down from Le Vele.

We just came back from our trip to France and Italy. Locanda Le Vele is the best hotel we ever stayed it. The room was really big and the decoration and ambiance was great for a Europe trip. The location of the hotel is very accessible and easy to find. It is close to all the shops as well as the vaporeto. The morning breakfast in the room was excellent. It was the typical croissant, cheeses, jellies, coffee, juice.... but, the service of bringing it in the room and eating it there makes it feel like the food is really great. The people on the counter are all very cordial and helpful. We have already told our friends and family about this place. Venice is great... and we have already agreed that the next time we go back to Venice... we will definitely be staying at Locanda Le Vele. The only thing though, you should be ready to pay in cash... because even if they said on the internet that they accept credit card... the note on the wall says the machine is broken... we were already warned by one of the people who wrote here... But, it is worth every peny.

We were told to move to a smaller room after the first night because we had been given the wrong room when we arrived. The room was clean and spacious. The location is great. The air conditioning worked well. The hide a bed that the kids were on was warm to sleep on. It would have been better if we had two regular beds. This would not be a problem for a couple traveling. We did have one major problem with the hotel. They did not take credit cards when we were there. This caused us to take lots of money out of the bank with our ATM over several days and our bank put a fraud alert on our ATM card. Next time we go to Venice, we would stay there, but would check into the credit card policy and bring American Express Travelers checks if needed. We found a great little restaurant a few streets over in the direction of the Rialto Bridge. The food is among the best we had on our trip and the people were very friendly. It is called Osteria al Bomba, Cannaregio 4297/98 - Venezia phone 041 520175, www.osteriaalbomba.it We enjoyed Venice and our hotel and look forward to returning.

Great hotel, great location, beautiful rooms in venetian style, good breakfast served in the bedroom. We choosed this hotel after reading all the comments on venere.com. We confirm the extrimely positive impression about this hotel and advice it to whoever would ask us where to stay in Venise. This was the best hotel of our entire trip to Italy (we stayed in 3 different hotels). The room was beautiful, and since it was a standard room (not one of the deluxe ones), it was smaller than the one in the picture -- but there was still plenty of room and well decorated. The staff was extremely nice and brought our breakfast to our room on time every day (you get a nice basket of rolls, croissants and toast w/assorted jellies, nutella and cheese -- and excellent coffee or tea). The hotel was less than a minute's walk from the Ca d'Oro vaporetto stop (I think I spelled that right), so lugging suitcases was not a problem. One issue: The windows don't keep out the street noise, which can get loud since it's such a narrow alley and the sound travels upwards. I think if you request one of the rooms overlooking the canal, it will be quieter. The walls were thick though, so we never heard our neighbors (unlike the other hotels we stayed in). I highly recommend this place.

The Locanda Le Vele is very easy to find, just as described on the web site, only a couple of minutes walk from Ca' d'Ora Vaporetta stop..and no stairs or brigdes to negotiate with luggage!!. We arrived at Marco Polo airport and the easiest route into Venice is to take the Bus from the airport (N0 5 runs every30 mins) for 2.50 Euros and takes 35-40 mins, or take a Taxi 30 Euros and takes 25mins, to Piazzale Roma then Vaporetta #1 to Ca d'Oro. We took a taxi and the transfer time from leaving the airport to arriving at Locanda Le Vele was 35mins. The location is excellent, tucked away in a quiet backwater, but only 5 mins walk from the Rialto Bridge, and it's a very pleasant walk past lots of Bars, reasturants and shops. However it was always nice at the end of a long day to return to the peace and tranquility of the room. with EXCELLENT air conditioning. The rooms were decorateed to a high standard, and would put many a 3* or 4* hotel to shame, very comfortable bed, mini bar,( but nothing much in it except soft drinks), table and two chairs and en suite.Continental breakfast is served in the room, as the TownHouse, does not a restaurant/Bar, but excellent coffee and just enough to eat to start the day. The owners staff the 'hotel' and all three of them were very pleasant and helpful, with advice on where to go places to eat, and spoke excellent English. We had a wonderful 3 days, however I am very wary of recommending this to others as it's the sort of place you want to keep for yourself !!. Would I stay here again ? absolutly...if fact we are comming back in November it's a little gem.

I took my youngest sister for a surprise weekend to Venice early January. The staff all speak well English and the room we got was absolutely fantastic. A look at my sister's face told me she was very pleased indeed, in fact she didn't speak for several minutes and when she did all she could say was 'wow'! We got an extremely spacious suite decorated in grand palace style with 'french doors' leading out to the canal. Everything was really nice and clean, traditionally italian breakfast served in the room every morning and what a bargain! Only £83 for two people for two nights!!! If you are planning a trip to Venice I highly reccomend you this townhouse - don't even bother looking after a hotel. Trust me, you will not regret staying at Locanda Le Vele.

El lugar parece menos de lo que en realidad es. Las habitaciones son preciosas, tienen un encanto muy especial, sobre todo para una pareja, ya que son extremadamente romanticas. Si quieres conquistar a tu chico/a es el hotel perfecto

very welcoming owners. the room our children were given as a triple room was wonderful - very , very large with a balcony overlooking a quiet canal. average marks re public areas as there was only a small reception area but we did not expect otherwise. all the rooms were spotlessly clean and the air conditioning very efficient. good central location easily reached from the grand canal. would definitely stay there again if back in venice.

We enjoyed our stay! The proprietors were very friendly and helpful. They recommended a nearby restaurant & made reservations for us - the food was excellent! Our room (large room for 4 people) was exactly as pictured on the website - neat, clean, comfortable and beautifully furnished. Very quiet all nite until 6 - 7 AM when a few boats powered up in the canal (not really loud but enough to wake some people). It is a B&B so don't expect the variety of services like a hotel, but to me this is not a problem. I would definitely stay at this location again!

A very cozy, and friendly locanda. The rooms were very spacious and nicely furnished. extremely clean as everything is still very new. We didn't expect such high quality accommodation for the price we paid.

It is not a hotel but bed and breakfast. There are no public areas and I didn't get any information on how to go about Venice. The employees were polite the place clean and the breakfast was offered in the room only.

We have an marvelous time staying at Locanda Le Vele. Place is located in the center of Venice, in walking distance from all points of attraction. Very clean, newly renovated . Personal was friendly and fluent in English. It was very easy to find. Directions from the website were accurate. If by any chance we have to come back to Venice, Locanda Le Vele definitely will be the place to stay.

I went to Venice with my girlfriend for 3 nights over her birthday. I booked Locanda Le Vele with Venere.com after checking many other locations. Honestly, that was my best decision since long. Very good (no empty promises) and fast reply by the innkeepers to my e-mails, easy to find location (3 minutes from ACTV stop), central but very quiet location in a little alleyway right by a canal. The 6 rooms (just watch the pictures) are spacious, stylish to perfection and have canal view. And.., maybe you are lucky enough to get the suite (like I did), you will be just astonished by that. The perfect location for a stay in Venice. Thank you again, Daniel & Manuel.
