For a short turistic visit to Venice is a reasonable and perfect and strategically located hotel, at 10 min. walking distance of San Marcos Square. Friendly and cooperative staff. Unless you are looking for a more glamorous site/installation, this hotel is a very reasonable solution, since Venice is a city to walk and not to stay at hotel.

The only aspect I've marked down is the size of the room, however I cannot in anyway fault the Hotel for this. They were very open & honest (to the point of giving me dimension measurements) so that I was fully aware of what I was getting.

The location is perfect, really closed to St.Marco square. It is a pity that the room was really little, for me it was not a problem becouse I spend just one night. I will repeat, nice place!

One negative comment and two positive. The location of the hotel was great. The room was very small but that did not matter since we were out most of the time. Breakfast was great. The man that checked us in was less than helpful on several occasions. He gave me the feeling that he was doing us a favor by talking to us. Needless to say, he could not or would not help us out with much. One night we came back in late and he was watching a movie sprawled out on the sofa (across from his duty desk)and when we asked him for some help he did not even get up, but managed to give us a half assed answer that he could not help out. Terrible service from the front desk.

Venice is beautiful. But hotels are very expensive. Lisbona provides one of the less expensive options in the St. Mark square area. The hotel is excellently positioned near one of the main gondola boarding points, St. Mark's Square, and the Vaporetta. The staff wasn't the most excited bunch, but the service was adequate. Room was nice and all of the gondolas full of tourists went by so we got occassional nice signing.

The hotel is impossible to find using the map -it's best to arrive in daylight before you turn into the Exorcist looking for it. The Hotel is quite narrow without a lift, stairs are steep and so are not to be recommended for the unfit or elderly. Our double bedroom was quite small and airless. The minibar was precariously positioned over the bed and unless you are particualarly alert to your surroundings in the dark you could easily hit your head against the minibar on at least one occasion. While we requested a room close to the canal to see the gondolas on reflection this was not such a good idea in the end. It was very noisy with speed boats on the go half the night. Italians have a tendency to roar at each other while they are standing beside each other so it was a noisy night as noise carried from the street. Notwithstanding, the above the location of the hotel is excellent. The hotel was clean the breakfast was perfect. Our experience was good.

I had some problems finding the hotel at first, since the instructions on the website (both venere.com and the hotel's site) were rather vague. Apart from that, everything was as expected - tiny, but very clean and quite sufficient rooms (I didn't go to Venice to hang out in a hotel room), nice breakfast buffet included in the price, and best of all, incredible location for a very reasonable price (since I was travelling in late December, at the most off-season of times).

A little difficult to find, but that was probably due to us being poor map readers! Our flight was delayed an extra night, and they booked another nights stay for us at 1am in the morning. We didn't use the Bar but there didn't really appear to be one, but that didn't matter. The reception staff were really helpful, and they provided a good continental breakfast. It really is the best location for visiting Venice.

very hard to find... walls were paper thin and I had a couple with a little child next to me... It was extremely difficult to sleep with a screaming child in the next room... advertised that there was air conditioning, but there was no way to control the temperature... I stayed 2 nights and my towels were not replaced after the first night... Keys to the room must be left at the front desk when you leave so I was scared to buy too much and leave it in the room... location is great and breakfast choices were very good for Italy....

The Lisbona was great! My room overlooked the canal. I often lingered at my window to watch the gondoliers prepare their gondolas for passengers. The service was excellent, the location ideal. I look forward to staying at the Lisbona on my next trip to Venice!

Great location and a great price for a single room so close to the heart of Venice. Fab view from my room of the canal below with gondolas sailing past. Unfortunately it was noisy when people in the next room started a loud discussion in the early hours, the sound came through the walls too clearly! Overall however, I would recommend this hotel

I was not able to even get to the hotel because the Italian transportation workers were on strike at the time. When I called the hotel to explain the situation they were not understanding in the least. They charged me the full price of the rooms for two nights even though I had no way of making it there. I now have to call my credit card company to dispute the charges. I just got jipped out of my money and I have no regard for this hotel.

Fantastic hotel at a reasonable rate yards from St Marks. Steep stairs up to room hard work after walking round Venice all day but may help to rid those excess pounds after all that pasta! Room overlooked canal and gondola stop. Wonderful to be woken by the sounds of the canal and the gondaliers rather than an alarm clock.

Everything was as expected...from the pictures & info listed on this website to the comments from other people. Located RIGHT next to a busy gondola stop, which may have distracted us, so we missed the hidden away entrance, but otherwise we would have found it no problem. Great location, staff was friendly, room & bathroom clean, room overlooked the canal/gondola stop. Sure the room was small, but I've always found that in Europe & you aren't in it much anyway. Their breakfast was the best of all the places we stayed in Italy. Would stay again.

The Lisbona hotel was a perfect place to stay. There is no lift, but we were lucky and were on the first floor. Room 11, and looking at the layout of the rooms we definately had the best room with a brand new bathroom. It is located 2 mins walk to St Marks Square and is situated right on a lovely little canal. We requested a room which overlooked the canal and it even had a tiny balcony so that we could stand over the canal and watch the Gondola's. The breakfast was fantastic and consisted of cereals, ham, cheese, rolls, pastries etc. As much of it as you could eat!! Definately recommend to take the ferry up the Grand Canal (best 5 Euros spent) and also go the island of Murano (famous for glass making). The restaurants near St Marks square are very expensive, however if you walk 5 mins off the beaten track there are some lovely places to eat. Take the ferry from the Airport (10 Euros each). When you get off the ferry at St Marks Square turn left, go over the little bridge then take the next right by Harrys Pub, at the end of the street turn left, go past the shops, over the bridge and then Lisbona Hotel is on the left under the arch (by all the Gondoliers). I would definately stay at this hotel again and will certainly be recommending it to my friends.

This is a great property very near the St Marks Square. The price I paid (65 Euros) was a great value. A friend of mine stayed in a hotel 25 feet away for twice the price. The rooms are small, think cruise boat size. The only suggestion I would make is for the hotel to install screens. When you open the windows, it is the whole world, bugs included. Being April that was not too much of an issue, but in the summer, I would not want to imagine the wildlife. Directions; Water taxi to St Marks square, walk to the first street and turn left. Go a 100 yards or so, you will see an American Express travel sign hanging on one of the store fronts to confirm you are on the right path. Cross over a bridge (lift you suitcases) and the hotel is under an archway on the left.

Very good location for first-timers to Venice; I loved my quaint single room with two twin beds, but I didn't have view of canal as my grown daughters did. But their room had the twin beds moved together which gave them very little space to actually walk within the room. Thought the breakfast was quite nice compared to others we'd had in Italy. An elevator would have been nice to the 4th floor, but my daughters had to climb up there, I was on 2nd flr. All in all, the Lisbona was a lovely quaint, yet modern, facility, which I could definitely recommend. I really appreciated using Venere, you provide a wonderful service.

We loved the Lisbona! The second floor room we had was small, but had amazing little balconies that overlooked a canal. With a little creativity we managed to put the 2 stools from the room on the balconies so we could sit and drink wine while watching the gondoliers! The breakfast was amazing with croissants, salami, cheese, cereals, and cake - and freshly made cappacino. This is a very nice and affordable hotel, with a great location. My single room in February was small but well decorated, perfectly heated and spotless clean. You are just 150 m away from the Piazza San Marco and have the choice between two nearby Vaporetti-stations. The breakfast was good, especially for Italy. You are friedly welcomed and get good answers to all your questions from the staff. Price/quality in this hotel was very good (February!, Summer can be expensive), especially given the great location in Venice. Only 2 little flaws: - no lift to the 3 floor - the maids for the romm/breakfast didn't reach the standart of friedlyness like the rest of the staff Overall: take it!

While nothing in Venice is cheap, Hotel Lisbona offers an amazing location for a price that is easier to swallow. Each room overlooks a canal lined with Gondolas. good breakfast, clean room, noise from other guests can sometimes be heard. it would have been great though if there were an elevator as the stairs to the rooms were rather steep.

A little hard to find, as is everything in Venice, but worth the trouble. I'd stay there again and recommend it to others. Lovely view of the canal, music at night from the nearby campo, excellent service, nice breakfast.

Difficult to find as no street name given. For the 3 star rating the hotel was good value for money and good location. Drawbacks were: extremely small shower cubicle; very slow water flow to bathroom washbasin and some noise from adjacent bedrooms.

For Venice, especially given the ideal location, the price is very good. In general I enjoyed the stay, but my stay had some minuses. First, the room was tiny; when I got up from the toilet one day, I hit my eye on the window. Second, there is no elevator. Third, you could hear your next0-ddor neighbors through the heating duct, Fourth, one of the staff members was unpleasant. When I brought a guest to the hotel to hang out for a bit, he asked me right in front of him, "Is he going to stay only for a few minutes." After a half hour, he called my room and asked when my guest was going to leave. This to me was an embarassment, tacky and totally unacceptable. I

We loved this small hotel. Very clean, warm and attractive. The position was even better than we could have imagined. Our room overlooked a canal where gondolas would regularly glide by. Two minutes walk to St. Marks Square and surrounded by designer shops for window shopping. Harry's Bar only 50 yards away where they serve their infamous Blinis. (peach nectar and champagne. We would definitely stay here again.

Comfortable and nice hotel. Very well located, close to San Marcos Square and vaporetto's harbour, near La Fenice and Accademia bridge. Pretty rooms not very spacious and kind service. Good breakfast, excellent capuccinos. We enjoied our stay. Whe I come back to Venice I will try again this hotel without doubt.

The price value proportion had been quite good. The staff had been very friendly and helpfull. The breakfast was excellent for italian conditions and the rooms were very small, but clean (minus : the bath heater was rusty and there was stock spots in the shower).

Lisbona is a very nice hotel - comfortable, clean and convenient for all parts of "tourist" Venice. We had a really good stay there and can recommend it as a good value hotel. The only point I would make about the hotel description is that there should be a warning that the hotel is not really suitable for the elderly (or others) who have difficulty climbing stairs, as the stairs to the rooms are steep, and many to the 2nd and 3rd floors. There is no lift, at least as far as we could see.

Location is good. Room was a bit small but it was nice to have a room overlooking the canal, gondoliers were singing as I opened our window. The ceilings are about 20 foot, and there is no lift, which means that if you are on 2nd floor, it's 4 flight of stairs.

I stayed in the Lisbona Hotel in March. I found the small hotel very reasonably priced for the location. The hotel was very clean and the staff was excellent. The location of the hotel made it very easy to get around and our room looked out over a canal. We had our windows open and woke up to the Gondola guys singing. I would highly recommend the hotel and plan on staying there when we go back next year. I loved the fact that it was not a large chain hotel.
