Arrived too a bit early for check in and receptionist allowed us to leave our bags which was much appreciated. Loved the reception on the second day. The gentleman at the desk was very polite and professional. Also loved the breakfast. However, rooms were tiny especially the bathroom - shower curtain kept clinging to my body while bathing, that's how tiny it was. Reception on the first day was one of a kind. Felt cheated by the receptionist who recommended he would arrange a free Hotel taxi to and fro their factory Murano because Murano vases would be cheaper there than San Marco. Turns out all was nothing but a lie. The taxi dumped us in Murano and we had to use public transport to return to the hotel and their factory prices in Murano were ridiculous, it turned out San Marco prices were much more reasonable. Was really disappointed by this behaviour. I did not expect this from a professional looking hotel and this is the main reason why I will not go back to the same hotel as much as I loved the breakfast, but am sure you can get excellent breakfast in most hotels.

Excellent location, google maps directions don't show the easy direct access route to the hotel very well, but we found a shorter way. The lack of an elevator is a bit of a problem with one's luggage. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed for 3 nights

The hotel/building is 400 years old. The location is brilliant, on the canal not far from St Marks Square, very near to public transportation and bazar. Couldn't be better when in Venice. Staff very helpful.

Overpriced. We paid 140 euro for a Thursday night stay. Although the hotel was clean and acceptable, the gentleman at the front desk the night we arrived was awful. He was rude and quite short with us when we asked questions. Also, BEWARE - the hotel closes at night. If you stay out late (we met up with friends and came back at 1:00am), you have to ring the bell to get in. The same man answered the door, handed us our room key and disappeared into the darkness without saying a word to us or even turning on a light in the reception area so we could see our way to the stairs. I won't be staying here ever again.

The Hotel Lisbona is conveniently located, close to S. Marco; given the price, it is a very good choice in Venice. Rooms are small and there is no lift to the 3rd floor, but for a short stay that's OK. Breakfasts are very poor, even to a three star hotel.

This hotel was great. It was a little hard to find but I think once you see Venice, it goes without saying that everything is hard to find there. But once you find it, its a true gem. Really clean. Really quaint. Really good Breakfast. Everyone was really nice. We could hear the Gondaliers singing to their patrons or playing accordion right outside our balcony window. It was fantastic. San Marco Sq is like 3 min walking. Rialto Bridge is about 10 min stroll as well. We would def stay here again. However, there is no elevator but the bringing up the suicases one flight wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. But overall, perfecto!

We stayed at Hotel Lisbona for two nights and thought it was a great place to stay and the location was really convenient and easy to find. We stayed in a double room with canal view, which was quite small, but I think that is the norm in Italy. it was nice to have the canal but to be honest you can only see it if you stick your head out of the window and you do hear constant activity from the canals below. The breakfast was very good, with a croissants, breadrolls, and selection of cold meats and cheese. Overall, a convenient place to stay and the staff are great. There is however no lift in the hotel and the stairs quite steep (maybe not recommended for those with huge suitcases!) but the staff do help to carry cases up.

I spent just one night in Lisbona hotel and, apart from room size and difficulties finding the building, I was very happy with my stay in the hotel. Room was clean, staff friendly and helpfull (they even took the suitcase to my room). As I said the room felt small, mainly because it contain large double bed. With single bed in it (or small double bed), it would become very nice single room. Breakfast was better then in many 3 star hotels, with nice coffee, fresh bread rolls, croisants and even good choice of cold meats. Location was excellent, just 5 minutes from San Marco (Vallaresso) Vaporetto stop. I would suggest that Lisbona hotel invest in street sign clearly indicating location of the hotel(as other hotels in the vacinity do). The gondoliere hut and pick up point plus tourists congregating there obscure the entry to the hotel. In conclusion, I would happily stay in the Lisbona hotel again, but hopefully in a bigger room if travelling as a couple.

For a short turistic visit to Venice is a reasonable and perfect and strategically located hotel, at 10 min. walking distance of San Marcos Square. Friendly and cooperative staff. Unless you are looking for a more glamorous site/installation, this hotel is a very reasonable solution, since Venice is a city to walk and not to stay at hotel.

One negative comment and two positive. The location of the hotel was great. The room was very small but that did not matter since we were out most of the time. Breakfast was great. The man that checked us in was less than helpful on several occasions. He gave me the feeling that he was doing us a favor by talking to us. Needless to say, he could not or would not help us out with much. One night we came back in late and he was watching a movie sprawled out on the sofa (across from his duty desk)and when we asked him for some help he did not even get up, but managed to give us a half assed answer that he could not help out. Terrible service from the front desk.

Venice is beautiful. But hotels are very expensive. Lisbona provides one of the less expensive options in the St. Mark square area. The hotel is excellently positioned near one of the main gondola boarding points, St. Mark's Square, and the Vaporetta. The staff wasn't the most excited bunch, but the service was adequate. Room was nice and all of the gondolas full of tourists went by so we got occassional nice signing.

The hotel is impossible to find using the map -it's best to arrive in daylight before you turn into the Exorcist looking for it. The Hotel is quite narrow without a lift, stairs are steep and so are not to be recommended for the unfit or elderly. Our double bedroom was quite small and airless. The minibar was precariously positioned over the bed and unless you are particualarly alert to your surroundings in the dark you could easily hit your head against the minibar on at least one occasion. While we requested a room close to the canal to see the gondolas on reflection this was not such a good idea in the end. It was very noisy with speed boats on the go half the night. Italians have a tendency to roar at each other while they are standing beside each other so it was a noisy night as noise carried from the street. Notwithstanding, the above the location of the hotel is excellent. The hotel was clean the breakfast was perfect. Our experience was good.

I had some problems finding the hotel at first, since the instructions on the website (both venere.com and the hotel's site) were rather vague. Apart from that, everything was as expected - tiny, but very clean and quite sufficient rooms (I didn't go to Venice to hang out in a hotel room), nice breakfast buffet included in the price, and best of all, incredible location for a very reasonable price (since I was travelling in late December, at the most off-season of times).

A little difficult to find, but that was probably due to us being poor map readers! Our flight was delayed an extra night, and they booked another nights stay for us at 1am in the morning. We didn't use the Bar but there didn't really appear to be one, but that didn't matter. The reception staff were really helpful, and they provided a good continental breakfast. It really is the best location for visiting Venice.

very hard to find... walls were paper thin and I had a couple with a little child next to me... It was extremely difficult to sleep with a screaming child in the next room... advertised that there was air conditioning, but there was no way to control the temperature... I stayed 2 nights and my towels were not replaced after the first night... Keys to the room must be left at the front desk when you leave so I was scared to buy too much and leave it in the room... location is great and breakfast choices were very good for Italy....

I was not able to even get to the hotel because the Italian transportation workers were on strike at the time. When I called the hotel to explain the situation they were not understanding in the least. They charged me the full price of the rooms for two nights even though I had no way of making it there. I now have to call my credit card company to dispute the charges. I just got jipped out of my money and I have no regard for this hotel.

Everything was as expected...from the pictures & info listed on this website to the comments from other people. Located RIGHT next to a busy gondola stop, which may have distracted us, so we missed the hidden away entrance, but otherwise we would have found it no problem. Great location, staff was friendly, room & bathroom clean, room overlooked the canal/gondola stop. Sure the room was small, but I've always found that in Europe & you aren't in it much anyway. The Lisbona hotel was a perfect place to stay. There is no lift, but we were lucky and were on the first floor. Room 11, and looking at the layout of the rooms we definately had the best room with a brand new bathroom. It is located 2 mins walk to St Marks Square and is situated right on a lovely little canal. We requested a room which overlooked the canal and it even had a tiny balcony so that we could stand over the canal and watch the Gondola's. The breakfast was fantastic and consisted of cereals, ham, cheese, rolls, pastries etc. As much of it as you could eat!! Definately recommend to take the ferry up the Grand Canal (best 5 Euros spent) and also go the island of Murano (famous for glass making). The restaurants near St Marks square are very expensive, however if you walk 5 mins off the beaten track there are some lovely places to eat. Take the ferry from the Airport (10 Euros each). When you get off the ferry at St Marks Square turn left, go over the little bridge then take the next right by Harrys Pub, at the end of the street turn left, go past the shops, over the bridge and then Lisbona Hotel is on the left under the arch (by all the Gondoliers). I would definately stay at this hotel again and will certainly be recommending it to my friends.

This is a great property very near the St Marks Square. The price I paid (65 Euros) was a great value. A friend of mine stayed in a hotel 25 feet away for twice the price. The rooms are small, think cruise boat size. The only suggestion I would make is for the hotel to install screens. When you open the windows, it is the whole world, bugs included. Being April that was not too much of an issue, but in the summer, I would not want to imagine the wildlife. Directions; Water taxi to St Marks square, walk to the first street and turn left. Go a 100 yards or so, you will see an American Express travel sign hanging on one of the store fronts to confirm you are on the right path. Cross over a bridge (lift you suitcases) and the hotel is under an archway on the left.

Very good location for first-timers to Venice; I loved my quaint single room with two twin beds, but I didn't have view of canal as my grown daughters did. But their room had the twin beds moved together which gave them very little space to actually walk within the room. Thought the breakfast was quite nice compared to others we'd had in Italy. An elevator would have been nice to the 4th floor, but my daughters had to climb up there, I was on 2nd flr. All in all, the Lisbona was a lovely quaint, yet modern, facility, which I could definitely recommend. I really appreciated using Venere, you provide a wonderful service.

Highly recommended. Great location in San Marcos. Nice room right on the river with the gondolas passing underneath. The only thing is that it was a bit tight - but that was expected and there is no elevator and the stairs up are quite steep (especially if you are on the third floor).

A wonderful location and I was given a room with a canal view. Being serenaded by gondoliers - or listening to their banter until 10 pm was fascinating. I obtained directions to the hotel from a previous review, which I found very helpful. Excellent breakfasts and helpful staff at a location close to many of the main attractions helped to make a memorable stay in Venice.

Our only objection to the Lisbona was the lack of an elevator. Otherwise, the hotel is ideally located and staffed by very helpful, knowledgeable people (especially Cristian). The staff did everything they could to answer our questions and help us when necessary.

A bit tiny as Venice rooms are small for this price, but we thouroughly enjoyed the experience. The room overlooked a canal and we had constant gondoliers singing underneath our window, very romantic! I would highly recommend the Lisbona.

This hotel is in a great location. The breakfast is lovely, lots of choice. We checked in very late and there were no problems at all, the staff were polite and helpful. However there are no lifts in the hotel and the rooms are small, it didn't bother us though. I would defintely stay here again.

Very friendly, excellent breakfast. Only problems were that the room was tiny with nowhere to sit apart from on the bed. The stairs took some climbing too. Good situation. Only noise was the gondoliers on the water below but that added to the atmosphere. Could have done with some better directions on how to get to the hotel, which waterbus stop to get off at etc. It took some finding, carrying heavy bags.

The smallest hotel room that I have ever occupied in my life. The air conditioner was not working and there were no elevators; my room was on the third floor. The only positive was a very good brakfast. Aside from that, a bad experience

We loved the Lisbona! The second floor room we had was small, but had amazing little balconies that overlooked a canal. With a little creativity we managed to put the 2 stools from the room on the balconies so we could sit and drink wine while watching the gondoliers! The breakfast was amazing with croissants, salami, cheese, cereals, and cake - and freshly made cappacino. The hotel was difficult to find initially, but once we knew where to look, it was very centrally located. We would certainly stay here again.

This is a very nice and affordable hotel, with a great location. My single room in February was small but well decorated, perfectly heated and spotless clean. You are just 150 m away from the Piazza San Marco and have the choice between two nearby Vaporetti-stations. The breakfast was good, especially for Italy. You are friedly welcomed and get good answers to all your questions from the staff. Price/quality in this hotel was very good (February!, Summer can be expensive), especially given the great location in Venice. Only 2 little flaws: - no lift to the 3 floor - the maids for the romm/breakfast didn't reach the standart of friedlyness like the rest of the staff Overall: take it!

Hotel Lisbona was lovely. It is very central and was excellent value for money. My only quibble is that the map was not very helpful. I would suggest including a street name in the details so that people can find it using their own maps.

The room was tiny, but the location was great! Just a few steps away from the Piazza San Marco. The view of the canal from the room's window was truly picturesque. It was also a bonus to hear through open windows, the saxophone player and a tenor alternately performing from the nearby piazzeta. Staff was very friendly as well.

While nothing in Venice is cheap, Hotel Lisbona offers an amazing location for a price that is easier to swallow. Each room overlooks a canal lined with Gondolas. The location is excellent, just far enough from San Marco to avoid constant crowds, but close enough to reach the square in 2 minutes walk. The breakfast is also excellent. I highly recommend Hotel Lisbona to the frugal traveler who doesn't mind paying a little more for location.

We enjoyed the room that was given to us very much. The hotel itself was very nice. Our room was one that had a lovely view of a small canal. There was a little morning noise that was actually somewhat pleasant seeing as how it was coming from the Gondola stop located right outside the hotel. I would definantly stay here again.

Our stay was very enjoyable. The rooms face a canal with gondolas passing by. The location is busy and far from the train station, requiring either a water bus/taxi ride, or about a 30 minute walk over several bridges. The hotel staff was fantastic and very helpful.

This hotel has good location. It's very close to San Marco, vaporetto station and many designer brand shops. The room is not so spacious. And we had to go up and down the steep stairs. If I have a chance to visit Venezia again, maybe I will stay this hotel because of a good location.

For Venice, the price quoted is good, but the room was so small that we barely managed to open our suitcase. The receptionist was rather unfriendly, while another was quite creepy was more interested in insisting that we go to his recommended place to eat. No elevator and we had to lug our suitcase up two flights of stairs. Breakfast was decent by Italian standards.

A very nice, very goof priced and quiet little, nicely decorated hotel on an excellent site (near St. Marco) with very friendly staff and good (buffet) breakfast. What do one want more? The only thing is that you must be lucky not to have a neighbour talking on a high voice with a friend in the room beside you.(Allthough the hotel was very quiet, the walls were thin). Had a very pleasant stay and I will certainly choose this hotel again on my next stay.

My room was very tiny, and I could occasionally hear noises from the room next door. These were the only flaws... But my room was beautifully decorated, filled with antiques, very clean, had a view of the canal, and was air conditioned! The hotel itself is in a very good location (right next to a ritzy 5-star luxury), has 24-hour reception and very helpfull staff. Compared to the 5 other hotels I stayed in Northen Italy this month, this one was the best value for the money, and the most charming! I would definitely stay here again.

Difficult to find as no street name given. For the 3 star rating the hotel was good value for money and good location. Drawbacks were: extremely small shower cubicle; very slow water flow to bathroom washbasin and some noise from adjacent bedrooms.

For Venice, especially given the ideal location, the price is very good. In general I enjoyed the stay, but my stay had some minuses. First, the room was tiny; when I got up from the toilet one day, I hit my eye on the window. Second, there is no elevator. Third, you could hear your next0-ddor neighbors through the heating duct, Fourth, one of the staff members was unpleasant. When I brought a guest to the hotel to hang out for a bit, he asked me right in front of him, "Is he going to stay only for a few minutes." After a half hour, he called my room and asked when my guest was going to leave. This to me was an embarassment, tacky and totally unacceptable. I
