Terrible beds. Mine had no support at all and I asked for a different room. At first I was told there were no rooms available. First clerk said he would fix the problem but disappeared leaving it to a second one who, after much complaining and prodding, finally provided a room with an adequate bed that was a 5th floor walkout. Rooms were shabby with peeling wallpaper. They charged 7 euros for a breakfast that we thought was free and that was mediocre at best. Location is a good 15 minute walk to vaporetto slip.

The hotel was clean, spacious and quiet. At first I thought it was far from the Venice island, but after seeing the crowd and the noisy in the island the choice of staying in Lido couldn't be better. The breakfast was good for the cost and benefit perspective (7 euros) considering that you have it in the garden. I recommend staying there. The receptionist was not the most kind person for the position, but was not rude though.

The bathroom was lovely, and the staff very competent and friendly. The lighting in the bedroom was too fluorescent, the bed was saggy and the wifi was only free for the first 15 minutes.

La Meridiana is a great gotel in a great location. We loved escaping from the hustle and bustle of Venice to the island of Lido each day. We loved the walk to the vaperetto (only 15 mins) - the vaparetto was only a 15 min ride to st marc sqaure. Lido is a great place to relax with a lovely beach and lots of little restaurants and gelaterias of their own to keep you on the island. The recpetionists were a little short with us but I suspect that was because they had little english, so our fault more than theres! Still felt as though they could have made a bit more effort with a smile thrown in here or there. Rooms were spacious, bed was comfy - overall great stay. Breakfast not great though - I would recommend a croissant and coffee at a local cafe rather than paying the 7 euro at the hotel.

The hotel is simple enough but charming. The staff is kind and helpfull. I enjoyed my stay in this hotel, the only thing is that we had to walk about 10-15 minutes time to get in the hotel from the bus station. but it worthed it. the roms were confortable. The breakfast costs 5 euros and there is some choice so it was correct for this price.

The accommodation was cheap so I guess you get what you pay for, the shower was never hot, just tepid regardless of time of day I used it, the bed was rock hard but the breakfast was reasonable & location good so all in all value for money.

This hotel was good value for money at E40 for a single room, however I had not realised my rate didn't include breakfast so was surprised at a bill for an extra E5 a night. This could be made clearer on check in, and the lady on reception was a but rude when I challenged this at check out. If breakfast is not included I'd recommend the cafes and delis in town rather than the hotel. Other than that, it's a nice hotel, clean, spacious and pretty rooms, 5 mins from the beach and about 10-15 mins from the main corso and vaporetto (flat, pleasant walk). You can also get there by bus. Lido is a relaxing and quiet place with much more open space then other parts of Venice and I enjoyed the holiday vibe. There is a national park where you can hire bikes, walk or run, and some nice cafes and restaurants to relax and people watch in. The hotel has free wifi in your room, and nice outdoor seating area.

The Hotel La Meridiana is located about 10 minutes walk from the Vaporetto stop on Lido. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the Piazza San Marco. But it is by no means unpleasant. I enjoyed staying a bit out of the crowded tourist area. You can also mingle with the locals more on the island Lido. The hotel itself was lovely; the room was spacious and clean. It was the most comfortable budge hotel I ever found in Italy for half a year. Highly recommended.

La Meridiana is a charming and dated B & B type of dwelling in a very quiet safe neighborhood located five minutes away from the water-bus terminal by car; 10 mins by bus; and 20 mins on foot. We were here for a fancy wedding weekend at the Cipriani Hotel on Guidecca island which took us about about 35 mins door-to-door each time. Other than "budget" restrictions we chose the hotel for several reasons - most importantly 1) the solid reviews posted overall, 2) my aversion for people - particularly tourists (other than ourselves :), noise, and 4) the proximity of a beach... Well, La Meridiana helped us conquer all and offered a nice alternative to the tightly knit architecture and too close for comfort passageways of the main island... While the amenities are incomparable to that of a Cipriani's, you do get peace and quiet - so quiet that we would've slept past 1130am every morning. The rooms are modest, clean and simple. The staff, friendly. We were particularly thankful for Lisa - a gem with grace and the willingness to accommodate our every request. In addition to Italian, she also spoke German and English. The night staff was helpful as well... It's true that La Meridiana is difficult to find but this is the same of almost everything on the island - it is a suburban neighborhood after all but most locals know where everything is. That said, to reach La Meridiana by bus from the main water-bus terminal, get off at the third (3rd) stop going south on the "B". From there, turn left at the end of the block where you'll find a mom-and-pop market, a couple of cafes, and a corner convenience store; leading you to La Meridiana sitting just past a narrow canal. The entrance to the beach is only steps further... Altho Venice itself didn't need more than a day or two at most (think Las Vegas with no casinos), if I were to return, I would easily find myself at La Meridiana again.

What a wonderful little hotel, very charming. It is located a little off-track which means that the surroundings are very quiet, good to rest/relax after busy sightseeing days on the main island. Shops are approx. 10 minute footwalk away which is no big problem because most of the time you pass the center of the Lido island where they are located anyway (since the water bus station is also there). The beach is only 50 meters away, unfortunately that part was private and closed at the time of our stay. But a public part is only 200m away so we are still able to swim in the Mediterranean Sea (very refreshing :))

What an odd hotel, stuck in a time warp, not sure what era, possibly 30s. It's a very, very gloomy place in the public areas and we only had breakfast (such as it was) once, because the dining room is so depressing. Breakfast adequate - cereal, juice, croissants, pastries and coffee - but unimaginative. Receptionist was very kind and helpful, as we asked to change the first room we were given (up in the roof, with windows at knee level). Quiet to begin with at night, but then there was a persistent noise, like something reversing, which went on for over an hour, every night we were there. Overall, it was OK, and we enjoyed having to take the vaporetto back to the main city every day. Reasonable value for money, but don't think we'd go there again.

Bearing in mind the over-inflated, rip-off prices for food, drink and accommodation so commonly found across Venice, the Meridiana is a rare gem. Tucked away in a quiet residential area of the Lido, approx 500m from the main North-South drag (Grand Viale Santa Maria Elisabetta) at the far end of Via Lepanto, it's a welcome break from the hussle and bussle of the main tourist trek. Efficient service and fair quality rooms for a three star. Apart from the Hotel, there's nothing in the immediate area of note for visitors, although there is a cafe around 5 minutes walk away in Via Sandro Gallo. But beware - our bill (simply marked "tavola") for two beers and a coffee came in at nice rounded EURO 10.00 - no doubt another place that takes full advantage of the cost of everything in Venice in order to justify the art of "venetian rounding" (con tutti che non parlano L'Italiano). I'm afraid I can't comment on the food at the Hotel as we didn't eat there, but with a double room costing just EURO 52.00 (cUK£ 46.00), the fact that la collazione wasn't included I could live with. Overall, great value for money. Would use the place again.

This place is pretty far from the Vaporetto stop, contrary to the other commentators. It is a good 15 minute brisk walk. However, for the price, this place was perfect. It was in a quiet suburban neighborhood and we actually felt a little guilty dragging our strolleys 11:00 in the night. There is internet for 1.5Euro and a safe in the room, both essentials for any traveler. Lido is the last stop on the Route #1 Vaporetto and it is a good 45 minutes from P.D. Roma, but the frequency is good enough. About a 10 minute walk from the hotel, there are a few cafes and restaurants in the event that you need some food. Otherwise, our stay was pleasant. Though chilly outside, the room was warm. However, I think the thermostat broke, because by midnight, we were cooking in our sheets.

Good location with excellent facilities. Lovely large suite room, 10 minute walk to main quay for vaporetta for venice proper, which is only 10 minutes away. Lovely beach. The basic mistake for us was to stay in Lido instead of main Venice. Every day we had to travel back and forth while for just a little higher price three star accomodation on Venice itself was available. Room was spacious and clean. There was no tub or shower cubicle, and that meant that the floors got wet. Hot water took a while to come and then the temperature from shower was not stable. Overall ok if you definitely not wanted to stay in Venice.

EXCELLENT HOTEL WITH ALL THE CHARM ONE EXPECTS IN A VILLA. VERY NICE BREAKFAST SERVED IN A BEAUTIFUL GARDEN SETTING. ONLY PROBLEM WAS DISTANCE FROM VAPORETTO IS AT LEAST 15 MINUTES OF STEADY WALKING AND THE CANALS WERE UNDER REPAIR SO THE SMELL WAS UNPLEASANT. VERY NEAR THE BEACH, WITH A CORDIAL ATTENTIVE STAFF. WE RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE WHO HAS THE TIME TO WALK THE EXTRA DISTANCE AND WE DEFINITELY PLAN TO STAY AGAIN.

We had reservations at this hotel but upon arrival we were told our rooms were not available because of plumbing problems. They sent us to another hotel, Byron Hotel. Just for your information, we do not recommend the Byron Hotel. Staff was unfriendly, no air conditioning,(fortunately the weather was great) and the atmosphere was lacking. The breakfast on the other hand was excellent. We had to rate Meridian in order to put in these comments so ignore the rating for Meridian. We unfortunately did not get to stay at our hotel of choice.

We would not stay at the La Meridiana again. While the location on Lido was lovely, the breakfasts in the garden were serene, and it was easy to get to, three things contributed to our dissatisfaction. 1-Due to a rail strike delaying our arrival, we arrived at the property at 10:30 p.m. rather than late afternoon and the desk clerk was very surly. Thinking it was because we were so late, we brushed it off, but he was that way our entire stay. 2-There was no drain in the bathroom floor (as there many times is in Europe), so the lack of a shower curtain caused a soaking wet, dangerous floor. We learned to shower by sitting in the tub! 3-Coming back in from breakfast, the day clerk asked us if we'd like to go on the "free trip" to the glass factory. We said no as I was feeling ill. My husband later reconsidered so that I could rest, but was told it was only available if we both went. Felt like a scam to him... We are actually pretty flexible travelers and realize that sometimes the mishaps are what make memorable stories, but these were all preventable annoyances that unnecessarily detracted from our visit to the La Meridiana.

It was realy a nice and quite hotel to have some rest after a day walking around the overcrowded city. The employees were very kind and helpful. We were so disappointed, however, to know the room had no bath tub and the water was neither sufficiently hot nor ample to get relaxed and every morning almost the same breakfast was served in which you don't have hot things but drinks and croissants and you need to have some tricks to open the doors(room, refrigerator, safety box, etc.). Anyway we think we weren't wrong we had chozen to stay in this hotel.

This is a reasonable hotel in the Lido Island, quite far from the railway station, but if you want to enjoy the beach and relax this is a descent place. The rooms are decorated with very dark coloured wall papers so appears to be smaller than what they are. The lift was too small, One person with one suitcase and that's it. We booked and paid as an airconditioned hotel, but that was not working and we were told they start the airconditioning only in JUne although the temperature was around 25 degrees. We expected some refund from the hotel charge, but that was not entertained. But they were very helpful to get a doctor at midnight for my baby, so I must appreciate that.

ENGLISH ------> Nice hotel a bit far from vaporetti station but busses can help you in returning to the hotel. 20 mn by vaporetto from lido station to San Marco Piazza. 1 hour using the Blue Line boat from lido to Marco Polo airport. We were at the 2nd floor without lift but they have mainly floors with a lift. Breakfast is good and you can eat as much as you want. Restaurant located at about 750 m called Hoasy Verde is nice, cheap but a bit noisy.

First thing i could say about La Meridiana: Wonderful! I went last week to Venice and booked through venere my hotel. I booked 5 nights for a double room (80Euro/night). Price is really cheap compared to other hotels in venice. Rooms are very clean and also the bathrooms are great. Staff is helpful and pleasant. Breakfast is very nice and complete. If you don't mind to be at 25 min from the center of VENICE (10min walking + 15min vaporetto), this is really good. This hotel is located in LIDO, a little island located at 10min from venice going by vaporetto (boat). It's a residencial area and you don't have the noise and the confusion of the venice center. - How to arrive this hotel by train: I went by train from rome to venice. Arrive at St. Lucia Train station and getvaporetto nr1, direction LIDO. Takes about 50min. Arriving lido, take bus B or C. Get out the first stop and turn left. Walk 200mts and you will see the hotel. - If you arrive by plane, i think you can get a vaporetto directly to LIDO. There are a some GOOD restaurants in LIDO. In Via lepanto, there's a very nice restaurant of famous people. In LIDO cars can drive. If you get out of the hotel and turn your left side, you will see the beach at 150mts. Some tips: - If you want to take a your on GONDOLA (famous romantic boats from venice), first ask the price and then ask them about the time of the tour and ask them to show you on the map where they will go! I got cheated, they asked me 90 euros in advance, tour took 20 min and was a fast trip. Usually normal prices are 80Euro for 40/50 min tour. Take your gondola tour near san marco or ponti dei sospiri. Don't take it near rialto as i did. - if your are catholic, don't miss the liturgical celebration at San Marco Church, Sunday 10h30m. Enjoy your stay and hope this helps =)

It was a lovely place to stay fantastic value for money. We ate in an amazing fish restaurant just down the road and recommended by the reception - one of the best meals ever. Pleasant 10 minute walk to the waterbus stop along the canal banks. Had a small balcony very pleasant to sit and drink a glass of wine. I would not hesitate to recommend it, nice to be away from the noise of St. marks Square etc.

We found the hotel to be an oasis away from the tourist crowds. It was a walk of approx. 10 mins.It seemed longer the first time with luggage but it is fine as long as you are able.Take the water bus each day, to Venice at 10e per adult return.Reccomend you take the water bus from the airport to Lido at 11 e per adult one way 45mins. rather than the water taxi at 90e (unless sharing with others)

We've been in La Meridiana for two weeks and we really enjoyed staying there. It's easy to get to beach and quite near to a laundrette, supermarket and bus stops to station. Down-town of Lido is also within nice walking distance of the hotel. They offered quality service and gave us proper information about what we really need to know for enjoying there. Every employee works neatly that's why we could feel comfortable all the time so much. If we need something for a room, they made us to feel free to ask. Actually, the day we leave for my country, we got trouble with our car by accident. We couldn't move our car at all at the time. We were totally confused and worried about what we could do on a journey. We asked a owner of La Meridiana for help and he helped us promptly and accurately. We had been really relieved there during a repair. I haven't met such a extremely good and impressive hotel before. We wouldn't forget this summer vacation. We thank for their hospitality over two weeks. If my friends want to go to Venezia, I'm sure I would recommend La Meridiana to them.

We had six wonderful days at La Meridiana and loved every aspect of the accommodation. The hotel have a 3 star status, but since the major renovations/modernisation that taken place this last year (pretty large investments done according to the manager), I guess it will not be long until this hotel are rewarded a 4 star rating. If you fancy having an romantic vacation short of nothing, La Meridian will be your ultimate choice. Lido, in general, offers much more than an average trip to the central parts of Venice can offer, such as an exclusive environment for both party and restful days at the private beach only some 150-200 m away. Local restaurants and bars offer a higher quality vs. price compared to most inside the central parts of Venice and.. of course.. in case you would want to go there anyway you will find the public transportation system of boat-bus 'vaporettis' very efficient and viable at less than 10 minutes walk from the hotel, with an all night service. We really want to visit La Meridian again, and we now, by the other guests, that this is a place you come back to.

Been there 3 days. Overall, the hotel was a little less than OK for the price. Air conditionning was not working fine, temperature was barely 25celcius even when set below, but i admit is was quite warm outside(30celcius more). The TV was broken, i had to keep my finger on the on/off button of the tv to watch it, so i notified the night guardian which took note of it. The next morning i notified again the clerk, which said it will be fixed, along with the toilet whish was also broken. Went to venise during the day, when we came back, tv was still broken and also was the toilet. Again, i notified the night clerk, which opened another room and switched the TV with mine. I don't know what the next customer of that room will say...but i guess that his tv will still be broken. Anyway, mine was now fine. While he was there, the clerk was able to repair the toilet(while i checked the new tv), don't know what he did to the toilet, but it worked. The room was clean, the hotel well located, breakfast was good. So i guess that if you are lucky and get a room in good working order you'll have a pleasant stay.

Everyone was wonderful, helpful. The location is beautiful and very close to an amazing beach. The only drawback I found was very low water pressure in our shower. The staff was excellent and the rooms were well decorated.

I had a really excellent stay. So much so that I have unreservedly recommended the hotel to all my friends. Very friendly staff, large rooms, VERY clean. Directions to the hotel are clear, but the distance is a bit deceptive. There is a shortcut which shortens the distance to the jetty considerably. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would give it a 8.5-9.0.

We were on our honemoon and this was the perfect place to stay when visiting Venice. The hotel is on Lido, which is such a nice place in itself. We were so pleased we made the chose to stay at La Meridiana. It is so quiet and peaceful. The beaches are so close and the little island is great to walk around. We ate at a wonderful restaurant just down from the hotel called Africa, we actually ate there 2 nights in a row it was so good. The staff was very nice and the rooms were a great value for the price. The breakfast was so nice in the little garden. Staying away from the business of the main Island was really nice, and it is only a short (30) minute ride on the Vapretto to the main stops of Venice.

This is a quiet and reserved property, with distinctive interiors from the 1930's The staff are courteous and discrete. The Hotel is secure and safe for those with young children. There is a Garden and terrace to the front of the hotel, so you can sit and relax after a long day in the city. The Hotel is also closely located near to the beach and two local bus routes (every 10 mins peak). Shops just 250 m walk, including an excellent Deli!! The lido di venezia is an excellent place to relax after a hectic day sight-seeing in the city. The view from the lido (town) pier of the venice grand canal is simply superb -especially as the sun sets over the distant st marks square. There are ferries direct to burano, murano, punta gabbena and a half hourly "alilaguna" ferry from the airport. why not take the sensible alternative to the crowded city and stay here instead...

A very nice hotel with accessible prices for a single traveller. The only point is to check your arrival and departure time, because the hotel is in Lido and the vaporetto between Lido and Venice are rare during the night.

We were very pleased with the hotel. It was very easy to find from the Lido water bus stop. Just go down the main street and turn right at Via Lepanto and keep going until the end of the road. It's about 10-15 minutes with a fairly heavy case. Without a case, it's about 5-10 minutes walk to the water bus stop. The staff were friendly and efficient and it's in a lovely setting less than 5 minutes walk from the Adriatic coast (probably private beaches, we didn't check). The hotel doesn't have a restaurant, but that is not a disadvantage given that the main street has some excellent restaurants with very good food at reasonable prices.

Nice big rooms, clean and cosy.Circa 15mins walk from Bus station, or €7 taxi ride. 2 mins from beach which stretches the length of the Island. You can get a water taxi from just outside the Hotel, directly into the Airport for €90.Journey takes about 25 mins and reasonable value if there are four people. It is not a mad ' party place ', and neither is Venice in general. Probably more suited to middleaged old codgers like myself, who enjoyed the place to bits, and will happily return to La Meridiana.

What a great little place to stay at. If you want to relax and get out of the noise and crowds in Venice, this is the place to stay. Rooms are quite spacious and the bathroom was large (tub and seperate shower). Only a 15 minute boat ride to Piazza San Marco, it was a great little getaway after spending all day in Venice. Lido is a great little island and has some great restaurants and stores. I highly reccomend staying here.

A QUIET AND COMFORTABLE MANSION IN LIDO-VENEZIA NEXT TO ITS BEACH AND CLOSE TO GO TO PIAZZA SAN MARCO BY VAPORETTO (EVERY 10 MINUTES). IF YOU TRAVEL WITH A CAR, IT SHOULD BE MENTIONED THAT YOU HAVE TO TAKE A FERRY AT TRONCHIETO HARBOR.

Lido might not be the very center of Venice, but a vaporetto trip every morning from Lido to San Marco is a stunning experience. The price was excellent, the room was very spacious, the toilet was big, the service was first class too.

All rooms in Venice seemed to be expensive the weekend we decided to go. It was a nice hotel in Lido and we were delighted we stayed in Lido and not in Venice as the amount of people there was unbelievable. Would recommend a stay at the La Meridiana, but again all hotels are expensive.

Sehr nettes kleines Hotel in ruhiger Umgebung. Leider ist es relativ weit bis zum Bootsanleger und ein Luxusfrühstück darf man auch nicht erwarten, aber für einen kurzen Aufenthalt absolut zu empfehlen.

The hotel was very nice. The room was comfortable and clean. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast could have been a bit more exciting (fresh fruit and different yoghurts, salami and different bread etc.). The price of the hotel was ok for Venice, but on the whole I find it expencive for what you get. It was good that the hotel was situated on Lido. It gave us the chance to get away from the masses of tourists on the main islands.

A typical Italian 3* hotel. Clean, functional and quiet. Only 3 staff members encountered during our stay who were helpful and friendly. Hotel did not stimulate our 10 year old daughter, who found it "boring". During the summer months the availability of a beach wuold doubtless alter this view. All in all a satisfactory package which we would use again.

I have absolutley no compalaints at all this was a lovely hotel with very polite, efficient staff. I would definately reccomend this place, as long as you don't mind staying out of the way of the main part of Venice. The photographs do not do this lovely little hotel justice.

La Meridiana is a quiet and nice hotel with good atmosphere. It is very comfortable placed at Lido - very close to Cinema Palace and Casino and because of that is very good for living if you go for any conferrence - only 5 minut walk to get there. Breakfasts are also very good.

We were very Happy and comfertable in our lovely balcony room. We are very glad we stayed on the Lido and would highy recommend this hotel to any one going to Venice. I would make it clear although to Americans and others the beach is not the La Merideans as we payed about 80 American dollars to lay on the beach with a view of the water.

All I can say is wow! Friendly, helpful staff -- helped my wife carry luggage upstairs. Our room was made up twice! with our jammies laid out for us the second time (that was a nice touch). Five minutes from Lido beaches, excellent surroundings and the breakfast outside on the garden patio was the crowning glory. This was out favourite hotel.

The hotel and staff were extremely pleasant, very relaxing and just as the we expected it to be. My only complaint would be the "private beach" reference. You should advise customers that the beach and it's facilities are chargeable separately and are very, very expensive. The public beach is at least 10-15 mins walk from the hotel.

We had a great time. The actual side is even nicer than the pic shows. We only had a problem with the AC (it didn´work) and the staff couldn´t turn it on until the next day when the maid showed us where the main switch for the AC was.... Else: Great place to stay!

The hotel is quiet and comfortable with a pleasant breakfast served outside in a pretty garden. However, for those seeking the nearby Casino, it closed over 1 year ago, and the private beach is a beach hut on the public beach(for which there is a charge of 10E pp)

La Meridiana is a first class hotel. It was clean, staff were friendly and the rooms were very spacious. It is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. It must be remembered that it is a tourist hotel so don't expect leisure centres et al. The location on the Lido was excellent. All attractions are only a very short boat trip away. The Adriatic is only a stone's throw away. Would I go back to La Meridiana - yes, definitely! Would I recommend it to you? Yes! Go!

La Meridiana had the most spacious room within the hotels we were in during our 2 week vacation in France, Switzerland and Italy. La Meridiana booked a reservation for dinner for us without us even asking. The breakfast buffet was delicious. The large T.V. room near the lobby was very neat.

This is a cheap way to visit Venice - stay on the Lido in the off season. It does require a 10 minute walk to the Vaporetti stop and then a 10 to 15 minute ride to San Marco in Venice, but you save $100s. This hotel was very nice all things given.

Very nice villa turned to hotel. Staff was accomodating to your needs. However would recommend the hotel letting guests know that the elevator was only available to one side of the villa. My wife and I had three sets of luggage which was rather heavy, especially having to lug them up two flights of steps. The room was spacious and clean with an excellent view. The surroundings to the hotel was very quiet. We would recommend the hotel to friends and family.

Nice big room with several windows which was nice. The bathroom was of a high standard, had a shower nozel on the wall but for some reason no shower curtain/door. This made it impossible to shower without flooding the bathroom floor. That was our only issue with the hotel. Everything else was beautiful!
