Quaint and very friendly. Major perks are proximity to train station and lovely continental breakfast, especially the barista. Major downside is no elevator.

We booked a standard room but got a superior room for the same price. Advantages: location is very close to the train station and vaporetto station, but in a quiet lane; comfortable room with impressive decoration; cookies & pastries for breakfast are very tasty; very friendly barman prepares any coffee you like. Little disadvantages: hairdryer seemed to me not very powerfull and probably you may need an adapter for some electronic devices.

Wonderful staff all very helpful and the waiter in the breakfast room gets extra special mention for being so engaging and entertaining. Tight space (so what else is new in Italy and especially Venice) but aay from the pandemonium of Venice proper. Very convenient to the train station and Vaporetto station.

Our experience was wonderful at this hotel. The rooms were perfect and the staff was awesome. They were so pleasant and helpful in every way. They made our trip to Venice great. And the location can't be beat. We were always laughing at seeing all the other people lugging their bags all over Venice and up and down stairs on the bridges. This hotel is right around the corner from the train station and we did not have to carry the bags over bridges or stairs. Totally wonderful experience here.

Our family of four adults was extremely happy with the service and charm of this hotel. The location near the railway station was fantastic, and the rooms were very clean and adequate for four people. The breakfast included in the price was exceptional, especially the friendly host who made the BEST cappuccinos! Highly recommended. Ruth Family, Australia

We were 2 adults with 2 children (13 and 11). The room was spacious and better than expected for 3 star. We arrived in Venice by train and departed by train so the property was well located less than 5 mins walk from the station. Restaurants and cafes close by and right by the Grand Canal. All the staff were great and freindly and willing to assist with good advice. Also a great breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This was our first stay in Venice. When we got there they let us know they had upgraded our room for free because it was our honeymoon. Breakfast was nice. A little easy to miss the street for the hotel as it is a small ally. Very close to the rail termini as well as a major water bus stop. Had free WiFi available in the room at good speeds.

The location is great - no need to carry luggage around in water-buses. The service of all staff was excellent, kind and helpful. Because we stated in the invitation that we are celebrating our honeymoon we got upgraded to a superior double room from the standard double room that we ordered. Breakfast is great and the breakfast crew is very kind. As it turns out, the A/C in the superior rooms is connected to a central system, and from the end of October is centrally set to heating only. We were told that the standard rooms have individually controlled A/C in the room. It wasn't too much of a problem because it's pretty cold during November. Another thing is that during our stay there was loud banging noises each morning. It didn't bother us too much because we left the hotel about the time it started (around 9..) - we never asked the staff about the noise so we don't know what it was. All in all, a great hotel, excellent location, tasty breakfast and kind staff. We will surely go back on our next visit to Venice.

This was a last minute change to visit this area. I picked it for the location in proximity to rail station as well as other venues. One reason I gave it a lower mark was for the a.m. church bell, which hotel has no real control over. Staff was fantastic. Breakfast attendant was unbelievable. This guy was better than any I've experienced in country thus far. Breakfast sets my mood for the early day. Thanks to him the days were great. Bed comfortable, Hotel room size seems typical of area. If you want space, probably best to rent apt. We had a blast and did not have to drag our gear all over Venezia to the hotel. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Had a late rail out and they were happy to stow gear until our time arrived late afternoon. Thanks again, we'll be back

What a delightful, quaint Venetian hotel. It is so convenient to the train and bus stations, and near the canal and vaporetti (water buses). I arrived in Venice in a downpour and within minutes walked from the train station to the hotel. What a relief not to have to load bags on the vaporetto as I have in past visits to Venice. Wonderful cafes and shops are abundant. It is within easy walking distance of so many sights. The staff was gracious and extremely helpful. Breakfast was amazing. I will stay there again and highly recommend it to my friends.

Nice people who own the apartments. Very helpful, but need a little more help when people are arriving. It took awhile to get us up to our rooms. Registing in and getting all the luggage up in the small lift was very time consuming. Also, the front door was a pain to open. You get a key because there is no one there to open the door for you. The apartment was very spacious. A nice stay.

Location, Location! This hotel is just a left turn going out of the train station, the first 'alley' on the left. We found it quite easily, listed as 'Orsaria' on the bottom of the sign. We took #5 bus to airport and that was an easy trip too. The bed room/bath are simple, but clean. Nice breakfast. The front desk and hotel staff very helpful. We had a room (1st floor) above the alley and do not know if other rooms might have been more quite. The second night the people talking and suitcases being pulled through got worse. Only complaint, noise outside.

They quickly arranged for it and did not charge us anything for printing 6 pages. The rooms were very clean. Sabrina and Peter were excellent at reception area. Best of all was Renato's Cappuccinos. Best in our Italy trip of 1 week. We had free second servings and my teenage kids loved the hot chocolate he made. We loved their continental breakfast. All three spoke fluent English too.

I was very satisfied with the hotel. The single room was rather small - as always in Italy - but nicely furnished. The only complaint I would have is that the air condition box (for the house?) was just outside my window so I couldn't let the window open in the night due to the noice (even though not constant). The staff is very kind and polite. Nice Italian breakfast with good cappuccino, too. The location close by the railway station is very convenient. This hotel was a lovely little spot in a very convenient location. The staff were welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. The room was comfortable and pretty. The air conditioning was great! It was initially hard to find and it shouldn't be! If you cross the bridge over the Grand Canal from Piazelle Roma and you are facing Santa Lucia train station, there is a beautiful old church next to the station on the right. Just next to that is a row of several restaurants/shops (perhaps 5 or so) and then an alley/calle. Just walk down that alley for about 100 yards and the hotel is on the right. The location was actually great - close to the train station and right near the vaporetto stops. We loved our stay here and would definitely stay again the next time we visit Venice.

This was our third visit to Venice. The first two times it was just my wife and I, this time we brought my two sons. The location of the hotel is great with easy access to Santa Lucia Train Station and the Allaguna water bus to the airport. The down side is you are a long way from the Rialto Bridge and San Marco Square. We like to walk so no big deal the water bus stop was maybe 25 meters from the hotel if you don’t like to walk. The best part of La Locanda di Orsaria is the people. They speak perfect English, and were extremely helpful for dining suggestions. The only thing I personally did not like is they seem to push going to Murano to the glass factory. The breakfast was great, good choices and some of the best hotel coffee I have had in Europe. The hotel is down a quite street away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets. If you stay in the back and like to open the windows at night there is some noise from the restaurant next door, but it is all but gone by 11. The room was nice size for Venice. With a quad room it seems one of the beds is always a roll away. The bath room was ok with a stand up shower. I would say for the price and the owners this is a good value in Venice.

Hotel is quite small, but interior of the room very beautiful. Staff quite friendly and helpful. No elevator but the reception lady helped us carry the luggage to the top floor. Room was clean and spacious for two people. Impressed with the quality of the furnishings of the superior room; wall paper, curtains, bed sheets, bathroom - all very stylish. We actually booked a standard double room for 100 euro for one night, but was upgraded to the superior room without extra charge (was informed of this upon arrival. perhaps they didnt have any standard rooms left because we booked at short notice). Overall very happy with the stay. The most beautiful hotel we encountered in our 1 month travel around europe (staying mostly in 2-3 star hotels). Location is excellent - in the street right next to the train station. Public transport in venice is very confusing esp for first time goers, so I'd recommennd this hotel esp for those people. It's not in the main touristy area but it's better to leave your luggage somewhere close to the station, rather than dragging it into the alleys or up and down the steps to cross bridges. Boats can get very crowded so I would hate to have to carry luggage on them myself. We would stay there again next time in Venice. If have to say one thing bad about it, its the very small breakfast room. Also the fruit served was canned. But other than that, they give you plenty of cereals, bread, jam, tea and coffee.

After spending hours researching various locations, I settled on La Locanda di Orsaria. Everything was excellent. I wanted something close to the train station, yet without noise. This is to the left in the first alley from the station, and also by the main vaporetto stop. The staff were all friendly, and breakfast was decent with excellent cappucino as others have said. While we booked a standard room, we were upgraded to a superior, resplendent with fabric covered walls. When I return, this will be my place.

I would happily return to this hotel. I was worried about it being near the train station and out of the main section of town...but the city is so small that it doesn't matter. Everything is nearby. This hotel is right off the Grand Canal and in a marvelous location for morning coffee and dinners. Besides being near the train station, it is also near one of the four bridges over the Grand Canal, near the bus stop and car park to the mainland, and near a bus-boat stop on the canal. AND we were glad not to be one of the folks dragging luggage through the streets and over the bridges. The photos do not tell you that the bridges are all stairs: stairs up one side, and stairs down the other side. Friendly staff and very helpful. Cute rooms. We had a premium room on the 2nd floor (3rd for Americans). Having no elevator didn't matter. The clerk took our heaviest bag up, and we had no trouble going up and down thereafter. Really easy. Breakfast is fine, although not outstanding, but why sit inside with your coffee when you can find a pleasant street cafe for a nice cup? The city is stunning, and we had no problem getting around. Spent three days there, and wish we had a week or so. The hotel is up a tiny alley, and I was not prepared for that. However, so many of the streets are really just tiny alleys.

We were very satisfied with our room - we paid extra for a superior room. The staff could not be faulted for friendliness and helpfulness. Our only disappointment was with the quality of the breakfast and the lack of public areas. The breakfast room was smaller than our own dining room and there was no variety in the breakfast provided. It was the poorest breakfast that we have experienced in Italy. This is a hotel with very limited space on the ground floor so no lounge or proper bar. We liked the hotel overall but thought it overpriced at 200euros per night. The position of the hotel was excellent. Very handy for Piazzale Roma, the railway station and the nearest vaporetto stop.

Great little hotel, very convenient location, very clean. Friendly staff. Room quaint and small but very comfortable, good shower, breakfast fine. No lift - travel light if on the top floor! Quiet room, slept well and a refreshing escape from busy Venice!

As everyone knows, there are no roads in Venice, so we were looking for a hotel that was an easy walk from the bus and train station. The other requirement was it could not break our budget for staying in Venice (everyone also knows Venice is extremely expensive). La Locanda fit the bill perfectly. It was a short 5 - 8 minute walk from the bus station and only 2-3 minutes to the trains. The staff was very polite, helpfull and spoke good english. Rooms were as expected from the web-site, not 5 star size, but I was not expecting large rooms in small Venice. Breakfast was served in the breakfast room daily and was plenty of food. Just like all other daily breakfasts in hotels in Italy, nothing hot unless you count the coffee. The hotel was a good 45 minute walk to St Mark's, so take the boat if you are in bad shape or don't want to have the opportunity to get lost in the winding walkways in Venice - What better way to discover the city! Overall, we could not have been happier with our hotel stay in Venice and would stay at La Locanda again if we return.

A super location with the train station being just down the block, and a short walk to all the common areas. The owner goes above and beyond the call of duty to please everyone at breakfast, which we thought was plentiful compared with other hotels we've stayed at in Italy. It's super clean and comfortable. It's also in a quiet location which was much appreciated after noisy tourist interactions. Enjoy!

This hotel was in a very convenient location for the train station, as well as being close to the lively area surrounding the Ferrovia bridge. Our room was very comfortable, with windows overlooking a neighbouring garden - so very quiet also. The only thing I didn't like was a very limited selection at breakfast - but what there was was tasty and the service good. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

This is a perfect small hotel for a short stay in Venice. We had 2 families with 4 kids ranging from 8 to 16. The family room was more spacious than we expected, but the bathrooom was small. Very manageable, though. The hotel is very close to the train station, 10 minute walk or 1 vaparetto stop from the bus station. We recommend the vaparetto since there are some bridges you have to walk over. If you are exhausted and it's hot, it's a lot of extra work. We walked and we were sorry. Great location if you are going on a cruise. Super cappaccinos in the morning and a great European breakfast. The owner makes a great hot chocolate for the kids, too. It was perfect for our family. Great email correspondence with the staff and they spoke very good english. A little pricey, but then everything's that way with the horrible exchange rate right now. We didn't let that ruin our trip, though. We would recommend this hotel to friends, most definitely.

Great location if you are arriving by train--2 minute walk. Very nice area for shopping and restaurants and just strolling. Handy for the cruise ship terminal, too A short walk--over 3 bridges--or 1 stop on the vaporetto to the free shuttle that takes you to the ships. Very welcoming hotel, nice choice at breakfast including wonderful cappuccino!I will stay there again. There is no elevator so you do have to carry your luggage up the stairs!!

The hotel was quite nice, in a very good location for those traveling with luggage. Please note the hotel has no elevator- so pack light..Staff is very friendly. Price is very reasonable for staying in Venice. Would recommend take the Water Taxi throughtout Venice - very easy to travel on and off. The Vaperetto is right down the alley from Hotel. Many restaurants to choice from with the Area of Hotel.

We had a delightful stay at "La Locanda di Orsaria". The hotel is conveniently located very close to both the train station and the airport bus terminal. A vaporeto stop is almost in front of it. The room was clean, spacious and quiet (we had been given an upgrade we had not even asked for). Everybody was very friendly. The breakfast was quite nice. For all of this, the price was very reasonable if one considers Venice hotel prices in general.

Close to train station, bus depot, supermarket and fast food outlet( all important when you have teenager boys)as well as very helpful staff. All tourist sites easy walk but you do need a good map in Venice.

The hotel was great and it was easy to get to the fun stuff. Hotel is easy to find although know that there are two train stations. The one on the mainland is called Venezia Meastre. From that station you take the 10 minute train ride to Venezia S. Lucia in the heart of Venice.

The staff is welcoming and helpful. It was wonderful to check in near the train and walk to St. Marks as soon as we arrived in Venice.

The hotel was adequate and reasonably priced for Venice. The location of the hotel was right around the corner from the train station down an alley. There was a vaperetto stop near, which was convenient because it is quite a walk to the San Marco area. The room was older. The common area, including breakfast room, was small. The worst thing about this hotel is the beds. They are very hard. The air conditioning did not work wonderfully but it was cool enough to open the windows. However, you cannot open the windows at night because it is too noisy. For the price we paid, it was ok. I would stay again if I were ever in Venice again; however, I would only visit for a day since there are SO many other more beautiful places to see in Italy.
