We have stayed in Venice before in a similarly priced hotel and the general standard and service was excellent. Whilst we were expecting something similar with the Forcola we were sadly disappointed. In brief - rooms very tatty, staff totally detached to the point of being rude, hotel has no atmosphere - could have spoiled our holiday had we been expecting to spend more time at the hotel during the day. Overall not value for money for the price being charged.

really nice hotel which was 10 mins walk from St Lucia train station(no need to get water taxi as indicated on map)-near to St Mark's square and also near to water taxi stations at train station and also near bus station.

Disappointing. Room was not so nice and it was little things like damp on the walls, exposed wires in the bathroom, shower and toilet in space close space etc. I was slightly concerned by one of the reception staff suggesting we stay up and have a drink together later on in the night. I am a single female traveller and this made me feel uncomfortable. The rest of the reception staff were lovely though.

For Venice the price was OK. Hotel was chosen because it was accessible on foot to the railway station. The room was quite spacious and the bathroom was good. Staff were prompt in dealing with leaking ceiling after heavy rain. Worst aspect by far was the man on duty on the morning of our departure. He failed to give us (and another room) the requested early morning call because he was asleep. When it came time for us to leave, he was nowhere to be found and the front door was PADLOCKED. Too bad if there was a fire! After much banging and shouting he appeared and was far from courteous. We caught our train with two mintues to spare.

Charming location / Lovely area. Breakfast could be better, although it was OK. Room was tiny but perfectly clean and neat. Nice to be right on the canal and hearing the boats go by. The staff let me leave my luggage there and collect it later on checkout day.

Small rooms and no chance to stop the air-condition, but one of the better hotels in venice with a solid price.

None of the staff members we encountered smiled at all. Very impolite staff. No one said good morning, goodbye nor thankyou. Their only job was to assign a room and handed a key. No maps provided unless you remember to ask. No ham nor cheese for breakfast. Overcharged customers for poor services, small room, mean breakfast and dirty room walls. Toilet lamp did get fixed until customers complained.

It didn't meet or exceed our standards. We paid $120E which is $156 dollars. In the USA for $156 you would have a 4 star hotel. Clean walls, confortable beds and sheets. La Forcola didn't offer any of this. We did not sleep one night while we were staying at this hotel.

The hotel was located exactly where I wanted to be. The room and especially the bed, were so small as to be laughable. The room was clean. I asked for extra pillows for two days and each time I was assured it would be taken care of "immediately," but was not.

Very pleasant, single rooms a bit small and the double as good as in the pictures. Due to location on the way from Ferrovia and San Marco streetrumours in the late evening and early morning but all rooms have double glass panes and airco. Nice (busy)location, close to quieter Cannareggio canals and restaurants.

Superb small room with balcony overlooking a canal. Couldn't ask for a better room. Staff helpful and friendly at the front desk. Sufficient choice and as much as you could eat for breakfast, which is good considering the cost of food in Venice. Word of advice, if you don't want to join the rest of the tourist looking at maps and carrying suitcases as we did, find out the exact road name your hotel is on before travelling. That is unless you want to find those interesting out the way places, which we did also!!! Overall very happy with the hotel and booking.

This was a pleasant stay in a well located area of the city. The hotel was very clean and maintained to a high standard. The room we had which was a double appeared some what small but felt that this was typical of the venitian properties. Breakfast was adiquate, coffee great..! Reception staff most helpfull, good English.

I had a very difficult time finding the hotel. The map provided by your web site was not accurate and in my opinion it was not necessary to take the ferry from the train station. It was just as far to walk from the ferry stop as it was to walk from the train station. Once I got to the hotel, I was pleasently suprised regarding the quality and location of the hotel. My room had a small terrace and the breakfast each morning was very nice. I also got some good restaurant recommendations from the staff. I would definately recommend this hotel to friends wanting to visit Venice.
