Hotel Reviews La Fenice Des Artistes

The hotel is in a very good location, especially for a first time visitor. I took the boat from the airport and walked to the hotel in five minutes. It is surprisingly close to St. Mark's, Rialto, and L'Academie, (once you learn the way, of course, it is Venice), and it is next to the very beautiful Fenice Theatre and many excellent restaurants. The staff is friendly and helpful, I thought the double rooms were very spacious and elegant. If I ever return to Venice, I will stay here.

I thought the hotel was very nice and the employees couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. My only real complaint was that there was no air conditioning and my room was in the high 80's every evening and night. I could not open the windows because of the mosquitoes. That was a big problem and for that reason I would not stay there again. Otherwise the hotel was very good.

We enjoyed our stay immmensely. The staff were very friendly and looked after us very well. This included holding onto our bags for us as we enjoyed our last day in Venizia. As Artists ourselves we felt very welcome in this special hotel. We have every intention of recommending it to our friends and returning ourselves. I must say that as a regular visitor and occasional worker in Venizia, tourists can be very rude to the locals. They perhaps feel that they will be overcharged for everything and arrive with a defensive attitude.I think this is a pity but my experience of Venitians has been that they meet discourtesy with grace and ,like every city, those who do overcharge are easily avoided. This hotel was a case in point of wonderful value and service.

we know not so bad venezia becuse we went regukarky since 46 years inwith may parents ,with my husband for honeymoon, then with 3 youn children .Always at the Lido and visiting the town with vaporetto so it was the 1sr time inside venezia and our choice of hotel de la fenice et des artists was very good for the situation, the help in hotel for going there or ther unfortunately we reserved for 23 july at the fenice for leggenda of serpento bianco ,the performance was cancelled and not repaid .I have to give them iban and so and so But anyway we are not fan of chinese opera ;we visited the fenice and we went to thatre malibran to see "la boheme " puccini we appreciate .my dream is to "inviter en français "my sons et gransons next year in the same hotel in july 2009 if they want for my 80 years old in advance ...sincerly yours .As you can see I am french ,and I miss some words even I am an international lawyer but retired

We liked our stay at the Fenice in the middle of sanmarco opposite the opera. easy to get there even with heavy luggage no problem. as we arrived by taxiboat a nice lady from the hotel was already at the waterfront to show us the way. breakfast à la italienne means poor. Everything else was perfect we come back for sure.

Good location, good service, competent and welcoming staff - rooms are small, building oldish / not fully covered by elevators, but I guess this is in line with local market and environment.

We chose La Fenice for a visit to the opera, and we were pleased with our choice. The rooms were excellent, the breakfast was fine, the staff were efficient and friendly, and the position of the hotel was naturally perfect for what we wanted.

We had a room with a balcony which effectively doubled the space of the room. The balcony looked out over a small canal and really changed the room from the average small Italian hotel room into something special. The hotel has large public areas which during the time we were there were mostly empty. Breakfast was OK, standard for hotels in Italy. The only problem was finding the hotel if you don't know your way around Venice have a mobile phone on you to call the hotel for directions or get them before you arrive at the station because the directions from the Venere are not specific enough. Be prepared to pull your bags along the narrow streets of Venice, up and down steps of the various bridges. The location is great, however, once you get your bearings you are around the corner from the theatre and only about 5-10 minutes though the streets (unless you stop to shop) to St Marco.

Very nice and charming hotel. I got an extra- ordinary service from the concierge when my suitcase-zipper bursted 30 minutes before our boat left.

You cannot beat the location. Close to San Marco Square, yet quiet, next to La Fenice Opera House. You felt welcome the moment you steep into the Hotel Lobby. Our room had a good sized terrace making it a real special stay at the hotel.

The room was too hot, under the roof, for 160 euro. The staff did not know how to help me with the temperature. There was a bar but always closed. Difficult or impossible to have a drink after 20h. I had to do my bed every night, because almost not done. The location is excellent, but, for the price, all un "peu cradeau".

I stayed at this hotel due to reccomendation/review on this site from a gay couple that stayed here in October to see the Opera. I have a good sense of direction, but still got lost once. The attached restaurant is affiliated, but not owned by hotel. It is very good and in romantic Venice, the rest. manager had no problem with providing me with a good bottle of wine for my late night guest to take to my room. We both enjoyed a knowing smile when I returned the 2 glasses at breakfast. Also, the front desk staff very helpful and the maps that the hotel passes out are much better than what is available for sale in the Square. It is a quiet place yet is very close to bridges and taxi points.

Our visit to Venice was primarily to attend a performance at the rebuilt opera house. It was the most beautiful opera house in the World and we grieved when it burnt down some 20 years ago. It has been rebuilt as an exact replica of what was there beforehand and is absolutely brilliant - well worth the visit. La Fenice et des Artistes is virtually next door and so could not be better located for our purpose. Hardly cheap (but what do you expect for Venice), but good when measured against the quality of similarly classed hotels in the town (we cannot compare it with the Danieli or Cipriani, having never stayed at that end of the market!). The buffet breakfast was a particularly good 'Eurobrek'.

Basic hotel, with pleasant and helpful staff. The room was a little tired looking though, but it's an old building, and you're hardly paying for The Ritz. We had a room overlooking a busy canal route for the gondolas, so we were frequently 'entertained' by singing and accordian playing. The breakfasts weren't much to write home about.

A tad hard to find (it's two steps from the Fenice, but the hotel's entrance is a bit hidden), and you'd expect more from the breakfast given the price, but other than that, this place is charming. / Un poil dur à trouver (c'est à deux pas de la Fenice, mais l'entrée de l'hôtel est un peu cachée), et on s'attend à mieux au niveau du petit déjeuner vu le prix, mais à part ça c'est vraiment charmant.

Nice location. From our room was also open view towards il campo. Not so fancy as you might have expected (web). Very good beds! Roomtemp was ok and there was enough of air. I guess impossible in the sommer though: noisy, inefficient AC would be a nightmare, for me at least. With breakfast we made it easily until lunchtime.

Wonderful service at the desk! The single room used by my daughter had a VERY noisy air conditioner, which sounded like it was gasping for breath. It probably was, as despite its exertions it didn't work at all. However, the desk staff was very gracious in relocating my daughter do a satisfactory room the next night. One unpleasantness: guests having breakfact on two mornings had to listen to two hotel staff (a man and a woman) argue loudly with each other. (These wwere NOT staff that worked behind the desk.)

The room and the facilities were very good and the location was convenient. And the restaurant connected to it was superb. However, there was a mosquito problem and the lack of window screens caused discomfort.
