Overall, I would not recommend Hotel Hesperia. We went there in December. Although the staff was friendly, the hotel needs renovating. The rooms are very small, the beds and pillows are not comfortable and the water took at least 10 minutes to warm up. In the evening, there was often no hot water at all.

Hotel/room was clean, convenient & as described. Staff was very helpful, even helped with luggage up 3 flights of stairs since there was no elevator. Air conditioning worked.

Although the hotel is not all that modern or the rooms all that large I had a terrific stay. The place was tidy and clean and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and that just got everything off on the right foot. Hotel is nice and close to the train station and was easy to find (just walk down the main thoroughfare and before crossing the first bridge turn left and you should see it on the corner of a lane within 100 metres or so). Everything was as promised and breakfast was as you'd expect for italy - probably a bit better. Would happily return.

Staff were very helpful, helped carry suitcase upstairs without being asked. Room was lovely and larger than expected, with canal view (also unexpected), breakfast very good. No problems at all. Location excellent - near bus and rail.

The Hesperia is a delightful hotel, excellently positioned in the middle of things, but just far enough from the main thoroughfare to be very quiet. The staff were first rate, as was the breakfast. Curiously, we paid £10 less a night this time than we had paid ten years ago, the last time we stayed there!

Hotel Hesperia is in a good location close to the train station (walking distance) and lots of restaurants, shops, etc. It is not in the centre of the city (Marco or Polo) however we thought we got better value staying just outside away from the tourist trap area. Our room had everything we needed, clean bathroom, etc and had a canal view which was great. Breakfast was good and the value overall for the price you pay is great. Would recommend

The owner of this hotel is really nice and helpful, and it is just beside the Grand Canal. The location is great and is easy to go anywhere (boat port just cross the bridge in front of the hotel / walk 5-10 mins to the railway station). There is a shortcut between the hotel and the railway station and will only need 3-5 min walk. Although there is no lift, it is not very hard to carry the luggage. The breakfast is great. Anyway, I will recommend this hotel to my friends.

This is a reasonably priced hotel (for Venice) and well located if you are arriving by train. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful. Lots of stairs to carry your bags up but not a big deal if you're able-bodied. There are some good restaurants nearby on this and and the opposite fondamenta. Breakfast was generous and the coffee good.

This was a very nice hotel, and exactly as advertised. I stayed in a triple room with two friends and everything was very clean and nice. The location is also excellent, as it is very near the train station but in a less touristy neighborhood.

We needed a hotel close to the train station, as we were leaving very early in the morning after our one day, one night stop in Venice. The Hesperia was perfect for our need...it was quaint and the setting was cute. They even gave us a canal view room without an extra charge because it was available upon our arrival. The hotel was very clean, the bathroom was new and nice, and the staff was as nice as they could be. They even packed a "carryout" breakfast bag for us since we left so early. I wish we could have stayed longer!

This is a great place to stay. Only a 5 minute walk from Santa Lucia train station, which saves lugging your bags onto a vaporetto and getting lost with your suitcases. It's an easy walk to the rialto bridge, past markets and good shops. Or you can take the Vaporetto from outside Santa Lucia train station to get up and down the grand canal. We were offered a choice of 2 rooms, one which overlooked the canal, but the private bathroom was further up the hall, and the other on the roof, which if you dont mind carrying bags up 3 flights of stairs was excellent with a roof top patio. Staff were very welcoming & friendly.

First trip to Venice with my daughter for her 21st birthday. Loved the place but hated the crowds and obvious tourist attractions rather than the historical aspect I was hoping for. Hotel Hesperia was clean, quaint and hospitable and although small, quite accommodating when you're only staying a few nights. Quiet area and easy to find from the train station. Airconditioning worked well which was a must in the summer.

The location of the hotel was excellent. There is no lift in the hotel and we were on the top floor. No prob for young and fit but bear in mind if booking for older people. If flying to Marco Polo airport, the easiest and fastest way to get there is the water bus/taxi to Guglio. Unfortunately we did not learn this until we were going home and it took us quite a while to find the place when we got out of the car taxi from the airport.

The hotel is charming and "quaint" rather than spacious & modern, either of which appeals to varying tastes. The locaction is great and the staff is wonderful, both of which should appeal to everyone. No elevator, so may be difficult for handicapped or elderly.

The directions given on how to get there by foot are too minimal- which is pretty bad, since by foot is they way most people must arrive. Took me three hours to find it after getting off the train, because they didn't state the nearest streets, or say how to walk from the train station, only "it's five minutes from the train station". Hotel itself was nice once we got there!

Everything was perfekt. The room was very nice, the breakfast very good and the receptionist was very competent. The hotel is near to the railwaystation and you only need half an hour to Piazza San Marco by walking. We did enjoy it a lot.

When we arrived at the hotel, the lady at the front desk (I think it was the owner's wife) was very welcoming and helpful. She even helped us carry our luggage to the room. I was expecting a room with an en suite bath, but I got one that had a private bath down the hall. Since we were only going to there for one night, it wasn't such a big hassle. The room was not very big, but clean. The double bed was comfortable. Our room overlooked the canal so it had a great view. The breakfast, which was included, was actually pretty good. They served 3 different kinds of cereals, fruits, coffee/tea, juice, croissants. We were pleasantly surprised with the fare. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family and I would definitely stay at this hotel again should I go back to Venice.

We stayed in Venice for only one night but really enjoyed our stay. The Hesperia was close to the train station and very welcoming. The staff were excellent and also spoke fluent French and English (that we heard, but they may speak more!) which made checking in easy. They were happy for us to leave our buggy downstairs, as we were on the 2nd floor and there is no lift. The room was a triple and was very spacious, with an excellent shower. It was quiet at night and breakfast was good with friendly staff again. I would recommend this hotel to others and would stay there again if I return to Venice.

Aim No 1: We were looking for a Nice Price Hotel rather central, not too far away from the railway station. (We came by train). Aim No 2: It would be OK if it was close to one of the traditional channels of Venice and not in any hidden backyard. Aim No 3: It should be clean, safe and with necessary charm and ok service provided. Aim No 4: Beeing a small family of three with a child 11 years old, we needed sleeping accomodation and relevant space for us all. Conclusion: Hesperia was a very nice experience. The staff spoke english very well and was very very helpful with everything; recommend places to eat, how to travel the best way and to arrange tickets for a classic concert. The breakfast was very much OK in a very nice dining room. The room was not too big, but we had space enough and the bathroom was new, clean and nice. A very charming view from the room over the channel with a lot of life and action. Some noice during the morning hours, however, but after all we were there to experience "the real" Venice. And we really did that during our stay at Hesperia. If you are looking for a nice, clean and not too expensive place to stay, not too far away from the railway station and close to a traditional Venice channel, we will very much recommend Hesperia. We will definitively come back for our next visit.

The room was more spacious and the breakfast more extensive than another two star hotel where we stayed in Venice on the same trip. Boats on the canal get a bit noisy. Lovely terrace on the top floor for an evening glass of wine.

Hotel Hesperia was located in one of the most beautiful parts of Venice, close to the train station and many restaurants, shops, gelateries, and transportation all over Venice (by boat). The staff was very nice and very helpful and the room was awesome. Beware of the mosquitos, but otherwise, Venice is awesome and this hotel is great and well-priced.

For Venice standards the hotel is probably acceptably prized but in any other city I would only expect to pay 50% for what we got. Breakfast is okay but I would not rave about it. However, our room had a nice view out on a small canal.

This hotel is located in a great location, just minutes away from the main canal, train and bus stations. Our room was nice/clean and had a view directly over looking a canal. I would also give them top marks on breakfast! For dining of an evening there are a number of good restaurants close by. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this accommodation to other travellers.

My sister and I had stayed there before and knew what to expect. We thought it was more expensive in proportion to a hotel we had stayed at last year which was more modern and had an elevator and a more varied breakfast. We wanted to stay in that area.

Very nice and welcoming hotel, romantic view over a lively canal, close to a vaporetto station and a park. Genuine feeling of the real less touristic Venice and still in the centre of the town ( e.g. walking distance to the railway station and the main busstation including the stop for the airport bus.)

The hotel is beyond ordinary. It's on a canal so you'll be hearing boat ALL night. It's 10+ minutes to the train station, and over 30 minutes from the bus stop. Our room featured cracked floors, torn wall paper, and a dirty bathroom with ants. The furniture (especially the beds and pillows) were in desperate need of replacement. The "breakfast" was inadequate. Overall, we did not have an acceptable stay.

My husband and I stayed at Hesperia in Venice for our 1 year anniversary. Both of us are still students and wanted a nicer place to stay on a budget. This was a wonderful place to stay... convenient to the train station and to the sites in Venice. The included breakfast was yummy and the rooms were nice. Above all, the staff was wonderful. They helped us out with anything we needed, including tickets and storing our luggage.
