We made two room reservations, for us and for our friends. The rooms were very different! The rooms in the pictures on the website are a little nicer, but overall we were satsified. The night clerk was extremely accomodating and friendly, and was very kind when we locked ourselves out of our room late at night. The neighborhood felt very safe, and the reception area opens onto a very quiet piazza with a couple of tables and chairs for guests to relax. Overall, we were very happy with our stay.

We had a terrible experience at this hotel. While we requested a lower floor due to physical difficulties, we were put in the attic on the fourth floor with no lift. The office was not always open, especially in the evenings when we returned. The second night the air conditioner did not work and it was sweltering. Leaving the windows open invited the mosquitoes in. There was construction in a corner of the courtyard that seemed to go on for hours. When I made the male receptionist aware of this the next morning he admonished me for not calling him and waved his cell phone at me. Throughout our stay he remained arrogant, flippant and condescending. Customer service was missing and he did not seem to care if we were pleased with the experience or not.

Hotel Henry was a great stay. The room was very, very small, but we were there only one night so it wasn't much of an issue for us. Plus, Venice only has so much room overall, so the space was understandable. The man running the hotel that day was very helpful. The only problem we had was when we arrived, there was no one to let us in but for an Australian couple who had been sitting in the lobby (which is tiny) waiting for the manager themselves. When they let us in, we all sat for another 15 minutes until he finally arrived. Apparently he was the only one working that night and had to help another guest with something, I'm not sure what. When he did arrive, the service was excellent and as courteous as one would hope! After we checked out the next morning, we left our luggage so we could see Venice before leaving. When we came back, the lady behind the desk was not very kind about showing us where we could retrieve our luggage. But the location was great and overall a wonderful stay. Just keep in mind, most of the rooms are not very big. So probably best to keep it at one or two guests.

A cute, quiet little hotel around the corner from a main street which makes it close to shopping and cafes. The staff was very nice and helpful and were very competent and professional. Only downside was the shower was a bit small, otherwise really great value for money!

This is one of the best places I have ever stayed, not just because of the beautiful city of Venice but, the welcome of the hotel and the staff. We all loved the hotel and the staff including my 19 and 17 year old children. We would sit outside to talk, play games and have lunch/breakfast.(meals not included) We are already talking baout a return visit. The city and the hotel offered offed a great time for all 7 of us. Great find! While hotel is further from main attractions, we booked due to proximity to train station (very early am train). It was a short walk to train and also to vaporetto, which mitigates the location. Staff was very pleasant. They put upgraded us to the matrimony room (we reserved a double) which was very generous. Rooms are clean, air conditioned and a great value for Venice where hotels are typically much more expensive. Highly recommended!

Hotel Henry was a nice small hotel. Lorenzo could not have been nicer and was very helpful in all areas. The room was small and a bit pricey, but from my research, it was very competitive for Venice in June. Location was great -- 10 minutes from train station and at most, 5 minutes to the Vaporetto stop. Lots to do in the neighborhood, but MAKE SURE YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THE HOTEL IS LOCATED. It's a couple of turns off the main stretch and can be hard to find, but that made it a bit more special and quiet. We would stay there again.

Hotel Henry was very clean but very old - the photos in the brochure must have been taken in 1970 and they have changed nothing since. The bathroom was fine but the bed was really quite old - clean sheets and bedding but the mattress was hilly. Overall it was okay and a good location but definitely outdated. It was basically a place to sleep at night not hang out. We really liked the staff at the front desk and as I said it was very clean just old.

Location was excellent regarding proximity to station for convenience. the city was spread nicely below for thorough and extensive exploration. the staff and service were unobtrusive and genuine, which was much appreciated. steer clear of the very accessible restaurants, generally not the best food, and look for the ones with mostly locals socialising. one called Timon, close the hotel across the closest canal just to the left, was superb.

This is definitely a good place to stay in Venice! really comfortable and near to Santa Lucia train station. The manager is very kind and you feel like in a little home! :D I only suggest to call the hotel in order to ask more reference about the location because is a little bit tricky to find! but not that hard! This is a very nice hotel in the old Jewish Ghetto which is a very interesting part of Venice. The hotel is easily accessible from the train station (10 minutes). The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was in a separate part of the hotel (across from the reception) and on the very top floor. This room was only accessible by stairs (quite a few)and was very noisy when the adjacent room was occupied. We would happily stay there again but only in the other section of the hotel which was less noisy and lower down.

What a great find! Hotel Henry was not far from the train station and walking there was easy enough as there was much to see with the the Church of Santa Maria Nazareth right next door to the train station. The Hotel is in the Jewish Ghetto area which is very colorful. Bring plenty of film as each corner has a picture worthy scene. Everyone is so friendly and takes time to answer questions. Don't miss the fruit and vegetable market! The people at the Hotel were very welcoming and helpful. Great bargain for Venice hotel. Rooms are typical of Europe - small and compact and efficient.

Venice is expensive, of course - this hotel cost more than much better ones elsewhere. Basically it's just a room, there are no public areas other than Reception. The room was small, but perfectly adequate. Noise from other guests was a problem if we were in before about 11 at night. Take your mosquito spray with you.

A good place for a quick stay in Venice. Rooms are okay, as is the price (bargain). It can be a bit noisy, as you can hear the talk from the Lobby. But after 22pm it's quiet, so that is okay. Very helpful and very friendly people at the desk! Nice surroundings. Many cafes nearby where you can have an excellent Italian breakfast. Try fresh fruits from the nearby market on the street. Overall: The "Henry" is recommended!

Pros - price, and location. Cons - staff, size of rooms. The hotel for July in Venice was adequate. The ability to not have to travel to the island by bus, train or boat is a plus. The hotel staff however left much to be desired. The staff was not rude, but they weren't really around much. When we went to check-in at around 10:00 pm (website says you can check-in until midnight) there was no one there so after a long day of traveling we had to wait for someone to show up. They never came into the rooms to clear out the trash can let alone change the linens, and this part didn't really bother us, but may bother others. When we went to check-out at around 9:00 am there was nobody there again, and we saw a few sets of keys and a note, people just left there keys on the counter, and we did the same. The room is tiny, and there are no amenities in the room, but for the time of year and price it was adequate for us. I would spend the extra euros to have a private bathroom if you can afford it.

********************************************************************************** English: + : Situation - : The hotel has problems with the internet reservation system. As we arrived for us and for two other couples the rooms were note reserved. We had to sleep outside the hotel in a loudly and ugly room without window. (Very romantic :-( ). The staff was very unfriendly and showed no excuses for this inconvenient. The last day we wanted to use the WC after the check out. They refused. The last time in Venice I slept cheaper, but better.

Quiet small hotel with limited facilities. Staff was courteous but avoid the big push to 'sell' you a restaurant selection. We didn't end up with the 2 rooms selected (2 business travellers had to stay in one larger room. Seemed expensive for the quality of the hotel, but hard to tell since Venice was heavily booked at the time.

We stayed 2 nights in Venice in this hotel. The first night, the room we booked was not available (overbooked), so they gave us a small appartment in another location that worked with the Aloggi Henry. That place was dirty (bathroom) the towels were dirty and old. So we asked to change the room. They gave us another small appartment a little bit cleaner. No discount for this, we had no choise to accept that. The 2nd night, we got our rooms tha we paid for. Here everything was ok.

TERRIBLE!!! We reservated a dobble bed with shared bathroom and we get follow: We arrived early in the morning, so we get no chance to see the room, but we had to pay for all nights to get the Key! In the evenig we came back bevore 7 and saw our romm the first time. It seems smaller than a broom closet. Less than 6 square meter! HORROR! Two very used and small standalone beds (diagonally), a small table with a chair (but no place to use it) and a small cupboard. No place to open the bag. The small bathroom with mouldy walls was at the end of th corridor, but we had it only for us. No staff at the reception! But it should open till 9 pm! Next morning we had a stressfull contend with the manager for a room with a double bed. First we had to claime our money back, befor getting a better room. Hotel Alloggi Henry is a really big money-racket. They act in bad faith.

Good location, good bed and shower room (with hair dryer, though it gave up on me). Didn't try the coffee machine but saw that it did work. Expect a wait if you try to get hold of the person in charge between 8 and 9 p.m. (supper time!) and probably at lunch time too. Outside the door it says "please ring" but we couldn't find the bell, and if the person in charge isn't there (see above) he wouldn't hear it anyway, so make sure you have the phone number.

I stayed here just one night. The place is very basic, and inexpensive. The room was small, a bit stuffy, and had a bathroom down the hall. I was unsure where my towels were, as they were not in the room. I used the ones hanging up, which looked unused, especially at 4am. Sorry if you stayed here the same night and got wet towels! My room had a fan in stashed in the closet, which was needed, and a single electrical outlet, which was not securely attached to the wall. Plugging in a phone charger required some balancing so the wires didn't hang out. Despite the issues, I felt like I got what I paid for. I didn't spend much time in the room, and the sleeping facilities were adequate.

Why do you call "Alloggi Henry" a hotel? It is a cheap Italian brothel run by two whores (one by the name Dina, the other is unknown) and two pimps (one is named Lorenzo, the other refused even to introduce himself). The staff was extremely rude and incompetent and not supportive at all. The A/C, TV set were not functional; rooms were extremely small and hot. I understand that Italian economy is in decline (it is a polite way of saying that it is in deep shit), but you should not think that you can screw your customers and "blame" them for your problems. Venere.com - never again use this site to make bookings! Information about the hotel provided on the website was utterly wrong, except for the proximity to the railroad station. The place is located in a small smelly corner of Venice, which is not as quiet as advertized. Despite all of that, Venice (but not the venicians) is beautiful!

Pleasant hotel, air-conditioning rooms. Regret of no breakfast included, but thanks for the cafe-machine in the lobby. nice suroundings. the receptionist gives adresses of good restaurants in this typical part of Venice.

This was our first time in Venice, great city but very expensive overall (including hotels). Allogi Henry was rellay nice, with a small but nice and clean room and close to the main street.

No one was there to meet us and we had to wait about 5 hours for our room. After that it was OK. Hotels in Italy are too expensive for what you get.

Fair value for Venice, I suppose. The bathroom was a bit smelly and the room was small. Out-of-the-way location. But I didn't expect 5 stars for this price. I might return there if going back to Venice.

Great area to be in away from the crowds and enforced use of vaporetti which are very efficient and a great way to see venice. Hunted down good local restaurants. No frills and spills but you get what you pay for. We will be recommending to friends.

We Arrived at the Alloggi Henry to be informed that we were in fact staying somewhere else.. which we didn't really mind but this should have been stated at the time of booking.

The hotel is in a wonderful location and the owner is really friendly. The price is probably a bit high, but i think you'll find that everywhere in venice. We had the smallest room and he offered to change us after the first night, but we stayed. It was very clean.

Lovely hotel worth much more than just 1 star, we believe this is because it doesn't offer breakfast. However there are numerous cafes and bakeries sorrounding to pick somethiing up in the mroning. Also vending machines in hall to get tea, coffees, snacks and beer all very cheap. It was very easy to find and is well located within walking distance of the main sites. We stayed for 3 nights and it was perfect, very clean and staff were helpful and friendly. We would definatly recomend to friends and family and would go back there if in Venice again.

Nice hotel, but they do not offer breakfast. The rooms (room and bathroom, too) are pretty smal, but o.k.. The location is good, you can reach all things in venice by a short walk. The price is for venice o.k..

We spent 4 weeks in europe and this was by far the most disappointing hotel. Very hard to find, not clean, too small to turn around in and the bedding has to be many years old. Would not stay again and am questioning venere's rating of this hotel. Very disappointing!

Clean and comfortable room. Lots of stairs to room which was located across the plaza from the main entrance. Large and very clean community bathroom (just 2 rooms shared). Very good room for the price. Didn't see much of the staff, but they were there when we needed them.

We got off to a bad start because nobody was at the reception when we arrived. (They only came once we phoned them - $$$). The room was nice: quite, clean, spacious and there was a dining room with a TV (no cooking facilities though). The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the train station and 20 minutes walk from St Marks square - so a pretty good location. When we came to leave nobody was at the reception - so once again we had to spend $$$ phoning them to meet us. Some staff spoke marginal English but some staff spoke no English.

When we got there, we they didn't have room for us at the hotel. Instead we had to stay in a room in an apartment across the street. It was a 3rd floor walkup and looked nothing like the pictures on the website. Someone was already staying in the room so they moved their things while we waited. The shared bathroom was not cleaned the whole time we were there. We did not get clean towels after asking for them repeatedly. I expect a lot better service for 170 Euro/night.

A hotel within easy reach of the station. Rooms very clean and newly decorated. Quite noisy especially in the daytime though at night not to bad. Would recommend for a short stay.

Nice little hotel. It´s not easy to find, there is only a very smal tag beside the door. Sights, shops and restaurants are in walking distance.

This is a lighthearted place to stay. You were left alone, but equally if you had a problem they were happy to help. Laurence was a fun and excellent host. Our room was very small and not one of the ones shown in the photographs which was initially disappointing. However, the hotel was situated in a lovely quiet part of Venice, and on returning to your room in the evening it was always clean with a beautifully made bed and clean towels. There are no public areas apart from the small hallway, but eating breakfast in the local cafes is a must in Venice so it was great not to be tied into breakfast. We would happily recommend it.
