The Helvetia Hotel in Venezia Lido is located on the main street of the Island of Lido. At the doorstep, guests will find all the essential facilities, including a range of restaurants, shops, beaches, swimming pools and cycling paths. The closest Vaporetto docking station (operating on a 24-hours basis) is a mere one-minute walk away: from there, you can easily reach San Marco Square, the Rialto Bridge and all points of arrival and departure in Venice.

The advantages of staying on the Island of Lido and especially Hotel Helvetia outweigh by far the hassle of taking the Vaporetto boat: prices are much lower, it is the only island that allows cars and mopeds, there are some fine sandy beaches, and last but not least, the only Golf Course in Venice. Not to mention of course, the world-famous Venice Film Festival, taking place in September.

At the charming 3-star Hotel Helvetia in Venice, guests will also discover its friendly, multilingual staff available 24 hours to help them book tours, suggest restaurants and cater to any request. This Venezia Lido accommodation moreover offers a private car park, beach cabin hire, luggage storage, computer station and internet point, laundry and ironing service, babysitting service, as well as an American Bar, a sumptuous garden, and an inside lounge area.

The room had "lagune view" but only with some effort this was true. The general view was to the front area, which was not bad as well, but not the expected view of the bay.

Location excellent for all ferries, beach, restaurants and bars. Friendly reception and good service. American breakfast acceptable but routine. Our superior room felt small and dark and had no view, no fridge, no mini-bar and no safe. However it was comfortable, good air-con and quiet. Hotel was pleasant to come back to after a hot day and very welcoming. A great location on the Lido and the Lido is so airy, green and quiet after a day in Venice. Buy a Venice Tourist Travel Card on line in advance and see the islands and get round Venice with well connected boats (also can use buses on same ticket). In addition book a boat from airport to Lido and back. Helvetia Hotel is just two minutes from the landing stage.

Location was excellent just 100 metres from the Lido Vaparatto (Water bus) station. Loved the location and the Lido is a beautiful part of Venice with less touristy and friendlier people. If you don't mind the few extra minutes to get to the Grand canal, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Lido neighbourhood for a a stay in Venice. Shame the rooms weren't a little bigger and the price a little lower. Breakfast was nice (continental was included) if you ignored the leering and watchful waiters who seemed like they were a little too eager to be sure you weren't taking the yoghurt (not included in the continental buffet). I don't appreciate being stared at while eating and I informed the receptionist. Shame! The garden was very nice in the back, and the hotel is really only about 1KM to the beach. Comfortable and convenient for the most part!!

This hotel isn't fancy, nowhere near a US 3 star, but compared to other Italian 3 starts that I visited was the best (probably because it was the farthest from city center). Breakfast was good. It was awkward that they would ask 2 extra Euros for a boiled egg or a yogurt and 4 for an omelet, but you do not have to take those, there is plenty of other things to pick from. The location is very close to the Vaporetto station that takes you in about 10-15 minutes to Piazza San Marco. There is a grocery store and restaurants nearby. The area is lovely for walking. The beach is just a short walk away (on the ocean side of the island across the island width from the hotel). There is a bike rental shop across the street from the hotel. And on your way to the vaporetto station there is a cell phone shop that can provide you with a Italian SIM that you can use to make cheap calls in both to Italian and foreign numbers.

The other places we had stayed throughout Italy had better amenities. One example was their internet was very costly per the hour. It was a nice place to stay though and it was only two blocks off one of the vappareto stops so that was awesome. Was used to staying in bed and breakfast so this was just not quite as nice overall because it feels more like a hotel because it is a hotel.

The triple room was fine although the bathroom was in need of updating. The hotel was quite noisy due to the banging of heavy bedroom doors. Breakfasts were adaquete nothing exciting. The location was handy for the water transport and a 10 minute walk to the beach. Unfortunately our holiday was marred by the mysterious disappearence of our extremely large heavy room key. One morning we found ourselves locked in,after searching the room for the key, we were forced to ring reception to unlock the door. We spent the next two days vertually stripping the room to no avail. The only explanation we can think of is we must have inadvertantly left the key on the outside of the door the night before and persons unknown have locked the door and taken it. As far as we are concerned the key is somewhere in that hotel, nevertheless we have been charged 150 euro's for the loss of the key. What angers us most is nowhere in the hotels regulation or terms and conditions of the holiday could we find that a loss of a key will result in such a steep charge.

Lots of street sounds come into open windows but inside the hotel, just as it should be. I would recommend Hotel Helvetia. It is close to the water ways that take you right into Venice proper and the way in is scenic and informational. The neighborhood is moderately to highly touristic but also used by residence. Good values of food, department stores, groceries, fruit stands. And if you like the beach, it is just a short walk away.

We had a marvellous stay at Venice and Helvetia. The hotel is very close to the Vaporettos (only 50m) and i can recommend the Lido and Hotel Helvetia for every stay in Venice. It's very close to the hot topics of Venice (through Vaporettos) and you can have sight seeing and also swimming, the beach of the Lido is only a 10 minutes walk and the water is clear and everything is clean. The staff of Helvetia are very helpful and we got a very warm welcome.

The hotel is a few steps away from the vaporetto's stop in Lido. It's a beautiful area, and the beaches are beatuiful too. The hotel is very nice, the room was ok, it was small but clean, and the bathroom was big enough. We could hear everything what was happening outside our bedroom, but it wasn't a trouble for us. We enjoyed staying at this hotel! Great deal for money and place! :)

We stayed in this hotel already in 2003 and came back this year. The hotel is located on the main road only a few steps away from the vaporetto-station (directly to San Marco in few minutes, running also during the night). We had a room with a beautiful outlook to the lagoon (costs a little more). Breakfast was ok again, but only one kind of tea is prepared.

Rooms were clean and beds comfortable, although we requested a double and got a room with two twins instead. We were grateful for the English proficiency of the front desk staff, especially when our maid (otherwise a really nice lady) kept telling us in vehement Italian to leave the room because she had to clean it! Additional services like room service, laundry and Internet were, in our opinion, expensive. Also take note that travel between Lido and the Piazza San Marco in Venice takes ~15 min by vaporetto line 2 and ~30 min when the 2 stops running (causing us to miss our train).

Great place to stay. We were here for 3 nights. It is a nice area that is not very active after 9 PM. There is a supermarket across the street as well as a large number of restaturants along the street. The hotel is on the main drag of Lido. You get used to the Vaporetto rides so if you dont mind taking them, we recommend this place.

You can't beat Hotel Helvetia for convenience. It is quite close to the dock for the valparettos. It's a 10 minute walk to the beach. The staff service was adequate but not very welcoming. Breakfast included scrambled eggs, brewed coffee, and croissants. I don't know why they have an extra charge for internet access but the cost is reasonable (12 euros for 20 hours). I would recommend this hotel but I would try another place, if I went back, to see if I could find something better.

all in all very good! big room, wonderfull house and just a little walk from the station, supermarked and shops just in front and not much noise. Just the breakfast was really bad, you couldn´t drink the coffee and all what was eatable were the croissants (really good ones!!!) Breakfast was from 7 a.m. on and it wasn´t possible to get an croissant 5 before 7, as we were leaving early. There was internet but you had to pay extra ... no privat beach, just the public one.

The hotel is less than 5mins away from the Lido station. The public areas in the hotel (e.g. reception, hall, etc.) is quite dark at daytime as most lights are switched off. The room, however, is clean and well-kept. The staff is friendly and accomodating. They posted announcement on changes of waterbus schedule for the guests as it was "La Vongalonga" when we stayed there.

A lovely place to stay, away from the hustle and bustle of Venice itself. It is a short trip across the lagoon to the Lido, and with a 3 day travel ticket, we just went backwards and forwards, as well as around the island,by bus. It is easy to get to from the Airport, by bus no 5, and boat no 1, which goes along the Grand Canal, and across to the Lido,so that is a treat in itself! There is a nice little garden to have a bit of peace in the afternoon, and the beach is a short walk away, for the children. There are many eating places around, which are cheaper then Venice.A supermarket is across the road, and an Oviesse. We were recommended by the staff to visit Chioggia, by bus/ferry, and that was a lovely trip, using our pass.I shall definitely be returning.

Breakfast was okay , good choice - nothing special but for the price you cannot expect quality. The island is beautiful and quiet with a long beach 5 minutes walk from the hotel. It's 10 minutes on the water boat to St. Marco sq. We would definitely come back there.

This hotel was better than we expected. The bathrooms were a little small, but were very clean and newly remodeled. Breakfast was excellent with cold meat, yogurt, cereal, juice, coffee, tea, an assortment of bread and wonderful fresh croissants. They must have baked them fresh every morning since I could smell them all the way on the second floor. The location was good, too. The waterbuses were very efficient, so we could get to the main island in a matter of minutes and the other islands in less than an hour.

Lovely little hotel close to water taxi dock on Lido's main street of activity. Excellent, helpful staff. Breakfast could include a little more variety. Guest rooms are not as pictured. Helvetia has a staged guest room for the photo. The rest are tiny, as are guest rooms in ALL old hotels anywhere in Europe. Overweight people will not fit in the shower or elevator. Very clean hotel, well equipped rooms, except no internet access (anywhere in the hotel.) Internet cafe one block from hotel charges 5.5 euros per hour. This hotel is an inexpensive option to staying on the main island, and only a 10 minute water ride to Venice island. Lido is the only one of the islands with a swimming beach on the Adriatic for sun bathers. Hotel earns 3 star rating.

I stayed at the hotel for one week, mid August with a friend and we had two single rooms. As our intentions were to spend as much time on the beach and outside, the tiny room didn't actually disturb as they were kept very clean each day. The personnel is competent and very, very nice and helpful -at the reception and breakfast room as well. The clientele is miscelalneous - from old to young, from families and pairs to singles. I will further recommend the hotel and gladly return myself! Thank you!

On beautiful quiet Lido away from the more tourist type areas of Venice but also right in all the action of Lido area since it was just steps from the vaporetto docks, stores, vendor booths, restaurants, bars, church, etc. Therefore our room that faced the street was not quiet and even closing windows with the A/C on, did not block out the street noise, so I recommend a room over looking the back or inside. It was a short walk to the beach and if you get a 24, 36 or 48 hr ticket for vaporetto, you also get to use the public transportation (buses) that are on Lido so you can explore Lido by bus or foot. Need to take boat back and forth to St. Mark;s Square, etc, but only about a 10 minute ride, but leave more than an hour to get to airport or train.

Our experience of Hotel Helvetia is one of pure pleasure. Our car was parked in a secure place close to the hotel, so we didn't have to unpack everything. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. Best of all was the location. 10 minutes nice walk took us to a free and well-equipped beach at the Adriatic Sea, and 1 minute the other way the vaporetti-waterbus which took us to Piazza San Marco in 10 minutes. A perfect hotel for us and our two teenagers.

During our previous trips to Venezia, we used to get an hotel in Venezia, this time we decided to get one at Di Lido island, it was a great ide, because Di Lido is a nice place. Hotel Helvetia was the best selection because it is a quiet, comfortable and well attende by the employees. The hotel is located just at 50 meters from the boat station. Therefore, we would like to be in Helvetia Hotel in the future.

We had two rooms in this Lido (Venice) hotel. One for 4 people and one for 3. The rooms are unbelievably small. They basically only have a room with two single beds and when you ask for a room for 3 or 4, all they do is put a pull out spring mattress. Sleeping on squeeky springs that poke into your spin was not comfortable for any of us. The hotel day staff seemed ok in terms of helping out guests with requests but the night staff seemed like zombies. Breakfast is ok if one likes to eat bread, bread and bread with butter or cheese. Having said all that, the location of the hotel is great. Its literally a 5 min walk from the Lido (Waterbus) stop and all you have to do is walk down from the hotel to find restaurants and shops. My advice is chose this location but another property.

This hotel was great, the staff were friendly the breakfast (though not alot of selection) was good. We had a single and a double room the single was a bit small but was clean and noiseless, we had a double in the front that was spacious but noisy as it faced the street but were easliy moved to a new room facing the courtyard that was perfect. The area around the hotel is great, many restaurants and shops and a grocery store. The water taxi was 5 mins away from the hotel and about 20-25 mins from Venice (note that they don't always check if you have a ticket on the water bus so you don't always have to get one but getting the 2/3 day pass is cheaper than doing it by trip and not every stop sells tickets which could be a hassle). I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Venice as it's much nicer and cheaper staying outside of Venice. The beach on the Lido is also great, I recommend renting one of the beds at the beach club which is 10euros per person but totally worth it as you get access to a bathroom and a bar. Go to Murano and stroll around it's easliy accessed by boat from Lido (only 3/4 stops away) and worth walking around on this boat you can aslo access the graveyard island which is also worht a visit.

Vert nice, clean and friendly hotel. Though our room was extremely small, more like a small single room than a double. Noisey in the mornings, you could hear the people next door moving around their room etc, though quite enough at night. The day we were leaving, two school trips of teenagers were checking in, we were glad we were checking out. The breakfast included was very substantial. Overall we hade a great stay in Venice with no complaints but you could be unlucky with other guests in this hotel.

We spent 2 nights at Hotel Helvetia. IT has a great location. The room was small but clean and had a great view of Venice. Had aircon, always a plus. Lovely breakfast. Staff very friendly. Negative points: we were charged 1euro for a map of Venice by reception. The cleaning ladies entered the room in the evening sometimes without knocking. The day we left up the "do not disturb" sign (we didn't need towels changed or bed made) they ignored the sign and did the cleaning anyway. Besides these minor things, it is a good hotel overall.

Gutes Hotel etwas weg vom Trubel in Venedig was wirklich angenehm ist wenn man den ganzen Tag am Sightseeing ist. Gute Verbindung (24/24h) zu den Sehenwürdigkeiten (Markusplatz etc.) Bar's etc. in unmittelbarer Nähe.

Very nice hotel. We stayed 2 nights and we were completly satisfied. We had 2 rooms - 1 room was to the inner yard and everything was okay. The second was to the main street and it was unfortunatelly quite noisy from the street. But overall I recommend...

Excellent location, only 50 metres from the vaporetto stop. Staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast excellent. Bedrooms, though basic, were clean. We had a third bed in the room for our teenage daughter, which was very uncomfortable. We were on the front of the hotel, and it was extremely noisy from about 5.00am, with buses and cars passing by just outside, making the windows and shutters vibrate. I suppose this was the downside of it's great location! Some good restaurants and bars nearby. The Lido is a lovely relaxed, quiet counter to the bustle of Venice.

We had a lovely stay at the Helvetia Hotel. The price/ quality relationship was excellent for an off-season Venice trip. The hotel is situated on the Lido island. Public transport is great and runs very often. Lido beach is close by. The service at Helvetia was excellent. Breakfast was o.k., not special, but good. The employees were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and spacious, but you could hear noise from next doors. Overall, I would definitely recommend the hotel to my friends and family.

Nice location (Lido Venice island). Clean room. Close to the vaporeto station (1 min by foot). Close to the beach (4/5 min by foot). Close to San Marco (15 min by vaporeto). You can take 1 / 51 vaporeto.

This was the fourth time in Venice but my first time at Hotel Helvetia and to the Lido. The experience was lovely and compared to my other stays in Venice, staying at Hotel Helvetia was more than comfortable in relation to expenses, location, cleanliness, staff etc. I would recommend the Hotel Helvetia anytime and for sure I would be the first one to re visit... It sure was worth it :)

Our stay at Helvetia in Venice/Lido at the end of October was a beautiful pick! We have not only been lucky with the weather but the accommodation at our lovely, bright and homey hotel. Hotel staff was wonderfully kind and truly professional. The nearby Vaporetto was only a minute away, perfect to take in the view of the Venice-front as you walk over to the station. We stayed only four days at Helvetia but will most definitely return very soon. The Lido provides plenty of dining and shopping opportunities, wine is equally great anywhere you pick to sit down. Helvetia has a very cute porch/terrace in the back, we are assuming that's where breakfast is tabled in the summer. Very romantic! Enjoy your Venice trip!

A charming little hotel, but the visit was marred by being placed by the lift which clanked away til the early hours of the morning-requested another room, but none available(lift made of metal).Be warned!Awoken several times in the night by a checking in Rugby team-British I'm ashamed to say, who felt the need to shout and swear as much as possible!Staff said hotel often used by these 'parties'.Good continental breakfast and cleaning/restaurant staff were delightful.Reception not so good, would perhaps stay again, but NOT by the lift!!!2 minutes walk from the water taxi stop at Lido.

This hotel was in a great position, close to the vaporetto and bus stop and five minutes walk to the public beach. We found a lovely restaurant nearby with good food and reasonably priced called Africa. It was very convenient to be able to go to the main land by vaporetto in ten minutes at night if one wanted to be at the heart of the action.

Our stay here was very nice. The girl at the desk during the day was exceptionally helpful. The breakfast was also very nice and it even included eggs. However, the man on duty at night was to say the least sleezy. My husband became ill, and we neede to stay another night. It was not a weekend or high rate time. The man said it would be 100E per night when we had just paid 79E the night before. He then asked me to pay immediately. I did not, and the next morning I was billed only the $79E as the night before. I am quite certain he was trying to make extra money for himself and the management should be notified.

Hotel very good nice clean rooms and public area.Breakfast was filling and staff were very helpful.Very near the waterbus stop which ran every 10 mins so not a problem getting about.Within walking distance of the beach which is very very long! Found a lovely cafe/cocktail bar on the opposite side of the road next to the supermarket(billa I think?)Try the lasagne or aubergine and tomato it was beautiful , staff were really friendly and helpful. Great hotel to go back to after the crowds at St Marks.

There's a nice restaurant next door with good prices and welcoming staff. I think it was called Cafe Bounty. Also, the breakfast at the hotel was excellent! The staff were so prompt at bringing you coffee as soon as you sit down. It was a peaceful way to start the day. Check out the bike rental place across the street.

A very good hotel, friendly and efficient staff,a very good breakfast which can be taken outside in a lovely garden, weather permitting. Situated very near the boat stops. On the main street, near shops, cafes, restaurants and a supermarket the hotel is a short walk from the public beaches.

Alla reception sono un po' strani, gentili ma distaccati. La colazione però la serve un signore anziano che è super-gentile e felicissimo di poterti aiutare. l'hotel è molto "old-fashion" però per 80eur/notte in doppia non è affatto male.

Very close to the Lido boat station with a 10-15 minute ride from Venice center. If the quotes are low, as they were, it´s a very good alternative when visiting Venice. Remember that the 3-day pass for boats is 31 euros ... so you should put into value this 10 additional euros per person when balancing cost benefits. Lido is a very nice place and Venice is great ... The breakfast is much better than the usual continental breakfast.

Paid about 107 Euro per night in late April 2008. Very close to the Lido Island vaporetto stop, a 2 minute walk. Very easy to get to, even though you have to take a 15 minute vaporetto ride from St. Mark's Square. They don't check for vaporetto tickets there, so you don't have to pay to get back and forth to Venice. The room was very small, but the twin beds were fine for a couple. Sheets were separate, so it was more of a two-bed side by side experience. Bathroom was small. Breakfast was very good, with great service, would make us eggs, cappuccinos, etc. Hotel concierge was ok, but not as helpful as I would expect. Didn't have a good knowledge of restaurants to recommend in the area. Its worth it to stay on Lido, as its much cheaper than Venice, and right by the vaporetto stop.

The location is excellent in front of S.M.Elizabeta Staion/Square. Easy way to go to San Marco and others destinations in Venice. (10 minutes to S.Marco) Pleasant and kind staff that attend my requests for an extra bed and for a bigger room because we have my 3 years old son with us. I stayed in a huge room with an excellent bathroom with front street view. The abvenue has many restaurants, shops and ice-cream stores. Excelent. I'll return there many times ! Escelent.

We were very satisfied, the hotel was clean and friendly and is handy for the vaporetto to Venice (1 minute walk and approx 10 minute boat trip to St Mark's square). The price (€70 for a double) was good for Venice.

It was our first experience in Venice and it was rather good. The hotel is right near vaporetto station, 10 min to St Marko on vaporetto, but far from railway station - about 50 min. Nice restaurants right near hotel, and if you want you may spend the evening in venice, vaporetto have night schedule. The rooms are clean, but the one we stayed was not so big and bath was even tiny. Breakfast was ok, usual for Europe.

The Islands of Murano and Burano are only a few minutes away by Vaporetto (Italian water bus). Murano is famous for its glass making (and shopping) and Burano is famous for Italian lace makers. If you like to shop, you can easily spend the day wandering through the shops.
