On a smaller canal right off the Grand. Only a block from parking & slightly more from train station. Very welcoming, helpful staff. It's Venice - how could the surroundings be anything other than a 10.

Small hotel with small room that seemed expensive for the service provided. Appallingly unfriendly, unhelpful service from front desk on arrival. Only redeemed by very nice maid serving breakfast. Located close to railway station that is handy, although this means a long vaporetto trip (30mins) up and down the Grand Canal all the time.

The Hotel Gardena is comfortable, with very nice rooms, friendly staff, and a convenient location near Piazzale Roma and the train station. The breakfast served is quite good. I recommend the hotel and would gladly stay there again. Of four hotels I have stayed at in Venice I think it is the nicest.

The description of how to get from the bus station to the hotel needs to be corrected! It was however forgotten when I came to the hotel: spacious, light room with a canal view! Excellent! Breakfast was disappointing, but service very friendly and efficient. For this price (90 Euro single room) I would definitely recommend it!

We enjoyed the Hotel Gardena greatly, especially the little garden out behind the breakfast- a welcome escape from the busy tourist streets of Venice. We also chose it as it is easy access from where we park our motorcycles- didn't want to lug gear through city. We were lucky that the weather was mild, as I imagine the rooms (no aircon) would be less pleasant when it is hot. Breakfast good by Italian standards. Do they really like day-old bread better???

Volveria a alojarme alli.

We were on our honeymoon and we had stayed in 10 hotels in europe. I must say that the hotel is reasonably priced at 100 euros per night. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. It is just across the main train station and is near the bus terminal as well. The rooms seemed to be newly renovated but don't expect too much. We would love if they could provide a kettle in every room. The front desk staff was not the friendliest though. At the end of the day, the hotel served its purpose for us and we were happy enough.

Bella zona, tranquilla.

**Excellent value: 130 Euro for bed & breakfast; figuring breakfast would be at least 30 Euro for two people, that's $150 US for the room, better value than similar-quality hotels in any major US city. Nice view of the canal from our room. **Excellent location: within 5-minute walk of Piazzale Roma, where you can get bus transport to/from Marco Polo airport, and 10 to 15-minute walk from cruise terminal, depending on the amount of luggage you're lugging :-) We felt very safe walking around the neighborhood late at night (around midnight), nearby restaurant/bar was still open with patrons. **Excellent service: we had one night in Venice before our honeymoon cruise and had not had time to pre-research Venice attractions. The staff speaks very good English, was patient with our inquiries and helpful with suggestions. **Overall: highest recommendation for value-conscious travelers who spend more time out-and-about but enjoy quality service and surroundings when they need to relax and recover (best espresso in Venice!). We will stay here again and recommend any friends and family stay at Hotel Gardena on future trips.

Excellent hotel only 2 minutes from bus and train station. A lot of restaurants and souvenier shops near the hotel. We walked from the hotel to the marcus square in about 1h. There is some kind of "main street" that starts near the hotel. Walk along this alley and enjoy the Venice atmosphere!! Nice!!

This was a very comfortable hotel with competent, kind and polite staffs. Situated very near from the bus stop, it was easy to leave the lugguage and just to go sightseeing. But at the same time, that meant that it took more time than expected to go to the touristic site such as Piazza St.Marco or Rialto bridge. Actually we missed a concert! We should have got more information beforehand. The room was specious and clean and the bed was large enough. With a bath tub(it has only shower),it would have been perfect. Any way, we had a very nice stay there. Thanks to everyone.

We stayed at Gardena as part of our own tour of Italy for our honeymoon. They graciously automatically upgraded us to a junior suite because we were on our honeymoon. The junior suite was the size of a standard American double room. Beautiful decor! Very friendly, helpful staff. Very nice assortment of food for breakfast (croissants, meat, cheese, cereals, juices, coffee, rolls, etc). Located a short walk from the train station. We would stay here again, if we return to Venice.

The Gardena is ideally located near the Plaza Del Roma (bus station) and the railway station - the beauty of this being that you don't have to drag/wheel your cases across Venice to get to your Hotel. Additionally there is no noise or disruption which one might expect from being so close. The area of Santa Croce is quite low key which was welcome towards the end of our stay as the streets were beginning to get a little crowded in the main tourist areas. The room was clean and comfortable and the continental breakfast was more than adequate - we were able to eat breakfast outside in the courtyard shown in the photos which was very pleasant. We really enjoyed our stay in The Gardena and would definitely stay there again and recommend it to our friends as good value for money accomodation.

This hotel was generally below average. There are several areas in which the hotel was inadequate. I actually checked out of the hotel a day early due to the inappropriate behavior of one staff member (Piereandre A.). This staff member used vulgar and rude language with me when I was interacting with me. I was going to file a complaint at the hotel but apparently Piereandre is the "customer service manager" after this incident I left the hotel and searched for another place to stay. I checked out of the hotel early the next morning. I am rather appauled by the lack of customer respect this individual presented. I will surely not recommend this hotel to any fellow travelers. Additionally the hotel refused to provide me a credit for the early check-out I have followed up with my credit card company to dispute their charges due to the inappropriate behavior of the staff member.

Overall, a wonderful hotel. Front desk staff appeared helpful, but not the most knowledgeable on train departures. Make sure to double check with them on what trains depart from what stations upon your departure. Their error caused us to miss our train and subsequently our flight. Hotel manager took no ownership in trying to resolve the issue.

The Gardena had a wonderful breakfast with fresh fruit, hot croissants, great coffee, boiled eggs, sliced meat, cheese, yogurt, pastries, and more. They also had a pleasant, semi private parlor where I could chat with my daughter for hours. The room was tiny but cute. It is so easy to get to. I would certainly love to return to the Gardena.

This is a very nice hotel located next to a small public garden, and more importantly very close to the bus station and train station. Finding hotels in Venice can be very difficult indeed because maps rarely have enough detail, so staying in one that is relatively easy to find on your first night is a good idea(especially if one arrives late and in the dark). Our room was very spacious (comparable with US hotels), tastefully decorated and overlooked a canal. The only problem with our room was that the canal is noisy - motor boats going to and fro. There is also a path alongside the canal which means that you can hear people talking as they go by, and the sound of wheelie cases being pulled along the cobbles early in the morning was a bit distracting - but probably not a problem unless you are a light sleeper. Most hotels have noise problems of some sort, however, so my advice is always bring ear plugs!

This is an excellent hotel which, in Venetian terms, provides good value. The location is excellent - both for seeing Venice and especially arrivals (it is conveniently close to the station). It is about a 15-20 minute walk to St Marks, but this is a good thing as it means that you are not caught up in the 'tourist trap' area. There are plenty decent, affordable restaurants within walking distance and plenty to do and see. The rooms were clean and quiet (tho' ours had no view to speak of). The staff were friendly enough and the breakfast was more than adequate. In short the quality, value and location of this hotel were good and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who wants to see Venice without paying over the odds.

The hotel is very clean, and it is placed in a very good area; at a few steps from Piazza di Roma, Railway station or "vaporetto" stops, so it is quite easy to have a walk through the canals. The surroundings are quiet, without any problem. The single room is very small compared with the price. Instead of, the double rooms are like in the web page photographs.

Our stay at the gardena hotel was excellent. The location of the hotel could not be better. Quiet in the evenings and at night, but only 20-30mins walk from San Marco. Close to all local amenities. Staying in the 'locals' district gave us a chance to fully immerse ourselves in the culture, without the busy tourism factor. We would definatley stay here again.

We had a great stay at the Gardena. The staff were very helpful and polite. The room we had (a triple) was clean and had all the facilities you would need. we found this hotel to be exactly as seen on the web site, the location was perfect for the bus station, not too far to walk with our cases, lovely restaurants and shops nearby and a lovely 20 minute walk to San Marco square. We stayed at the Gardena when we passed through Venice on our last night in Italy. The best thing about this hotel is its location-- a 5 minute walk from the train station and Piazzale Roma where you can catch a 77¢ bus to the airport. The room we stayed in (booked a "french" or double bed, got a room with 2 twins) was very small and quite dingy. Since it's right in the canal, if you open a window, lots of mosquitoes come in and there were several old dead mosquito/blood stains on the walls of the room that the cleaning staff hadn't bothered with. The ceiling in the bathroom was collapsed a bit and the walls didn't quite reach the ceiling in places. Although the room was non-smoking, the hotel itself had a generally smoky smell to it. To be fair, a second plus was that the included continental breakfast was quite good with a variety of cereals, boiled eggs, salami, fruit, croisants, etc. Overall, it would be a fine room if you were paying 50 Euros or less-- I would only recommend paying more if you need the convenience of being close to transportation and are only spending 1 night there.
