Hotel was better than expected, staff were very professional, helpful and friendly. Excellent buffet breakfast. Public areas very attractive and well tended. We had a really good capuccino in the hotel, a bit pricey, but well worth it,biscuits were a nice touch. There is nothing we would criticise and would definitely book the hotel again.

It would be difficult to find a hotel in Venice more centrally or more conveniently situated for exploring the city and the lagoon - overlooking the Grand Canal, immediately adjacent to the traghetto for the Rialto fishmarket, and only a few steps from the Ca' d'Oro vaporetto stop. The Campo Santa Sofia is a delightfully quiet square with an excellent cafe where one can sit in the sun and watch the world pass by along the lively Strada Nova. The Hotel itself is both stylish and comfortable, the breakfasts sumptuous and the staff, without exception, could not have been more helpful or considerate. I was touched, for instance, that a bottle of sparkling wine was quite unexpectedly delivered to our room on my birthday, with the compliments of the hotel. We enormously enjoyed our week's stay, hope to return as soon as we can and will confidently recommend the Foscari Palace to all our friends.

The Foscari Palace is perfectly situated on the Grand Canal with a wonderful view of the city (particularly from the roof-deck patio). Its about a 5 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge and about a 30 minute walk to San Marco Square. All of the staff were extremely friendly, very helpful, and all spoke English very well. We upgraded our room for a mere 50 Euros per night to an amazing Canal view room. The management surprised us with a bottle of champagne and a huge fruit bowl! The room had 2 incredibly tall windows overlooking the Grand Canal and one included a small deck you could stand out on. The room was stunning. The bathroom is ultra-modern and completely decorated in coloured marble. The shower has about 15 shower heads! Amazing! The included breakfast buffet was the best we had in two weeks in Europe. The cocktail party in the lobby included a live harpist (beautiful music!). This hotel was, truth be told, the very best hotel my wife and I have ever stayed in. We would very highly recommend it to anyone!

hotel was lovely, perfect location and friendly staff, though a bit surprised we booked through venere! Jacuzzi style bathtub with multiple shower heads was complicated and encumbered, and not really working properly--a much simpler device with steady hot water would have been better. The room was gracious and lovely and the staff was very friendly, helpful and the festival fireworks from the rooftop deck bar were spectacular!

Clean, modern & roomy. We loved the Foscari Palace! I stayed with my several adult family members. We were there in June 2009. The rooms were modern and spacious even for 3 people in one room. We had a great view of the canal from our window. The bathrooms were clean and modern. Everything seemed to be recently renovated. The staff was helpful & recommended places for dinner each evening. There was a woman playing the harp in the lobby & complimentary drinks & snacks one evening before dinner. The Foscari has a wonderful rooftop terrace with amazing views of the Grand Canal and St. Mark's Square. My pictures of Venice taken from the rooftop are incredible! I would stay here again. It's wasn't cheap, but what quality hotel, with a convenient location is during prime season?

Travelled alone but booked a Double Superior room. Had a partial view of the Grand Canal and was at front of the hotel, overlooking the little square, another hotel opposite and the S.Sofia Traghetto stop inbetween - was worried this would be noisy in the morning but closing the shutters on the 3 large windows I got an excellent sleep every night. The bed was very large, room spacious, bathroom had jacuzzi bath and although this and the shower took a few mins to work out it's not that complicated really! Jacuzzi bath is very relaxing after a long day's wandering, bathroom was stocked with everything you could possibly need including robe and slippers. The beer from the mini-bar was only 3 euro, fairly cheap but in the nearby supermarket you could get 3 bottles for 1.80! Venetian's have it good! Location-wise the hotel is about 2 mins walk from Ca d'Oro Vaporetto stop and 10-15 mins walk from St. Mark's Square, it's a pleasant walk and although Strada Novo is fairly busy it's fine to stay near (in off-season at least) as it has a lot of good coffe shops, cake shops, supermarket and some okay restaurants. The better restaurants are down the narrow side streets and are worth having a look for as anywhere sporting a 'menu touristico' is likely best avoided. The hotel staff were all very friendly and kept out of your way unless you wanted something, the room also had an electronic safe which was useful, it also had a strange 'multi-room' radio system which only seemed to pick up static but who cares, a nice LCD TV was mounted on the wall and had Sky News and BBC World News but again you're not in Venice to watch TV. I really like staying in the Cannareggio region of Venice and if you don't mind being a bit away from the center it's a great area, less than 10 mins from Rialto bridge and if your fit an easy an enjoyable 15 min walk to St. Mark's or hop on the vaporetto and it's maybe 20 mins away. The hotel lays on a large buffet breakfast with hot food, fresh frui

Our first visit to Venice but definately not our last, it is magical. But then you will know that already! The hotel was exactly as described and was good value. The staff were all very efficient and kind. The air-conditioning had been switched off, but the nights were still warm, so our room was too hot, however everything else was great. I would certainly go to the Foscari Palace again. The Chorus Pass giving access to 16 Churches is brilliant value and we were entranced by the buildings, the art and the overwhelming sense of history. The Accademia Gallery needs a shake up; I had to hunt around to find the shop in order to buy a guide, these should be sold at the start. And no cafe? Maybe not enough space but a trip to the Uffizi will show how to do things slightly differently. If they contact me I will advise!! We cannot wait to return to explore more of Venice. Finding reasonably prices restaurants is, of course, a big challenge, but there are several and I shall keep those a secret.

This was our first trip to Venice and wanted to have a reasonably nice hotel, easy to locate and somewhat removed from the hustle of San Marco. This was the perfect choice. The location was walk able to the Rialto, San Marco, lots of shops and restaurants. The water buses (vaporetti) was one calle away, with gondolas & traghetti, at the doorstep. The accommodations were exactly as pictured. The rooms were generally a good size, especially for European standards, and comparable to the 5 star hotel were we stayed in Rome. The staff was extremely helpful with arrangements to Murano, made calls on our behalf, and was gracious. The house staff, bell men, housekeepers were always accommodating. However, a few of the reception staff, although gracious, seemed annoyed that we had asked and/or wanted something from them. The hotel does provide computer hookups, but for leisure travelers, a business center with common computers would have been really helpful. We really enjoyed our stay at the Foscari Palace and would stay there again without hesitation.

This was our first time we had stayed at Hotel Foscari Palace and hopefully it won't be the last! The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff were really helpful. Only disappointment was that the roof terrace wasn't open. The public areas were gorgeous and we sat there at night with a nightcap which was a perfect way to finish our very tiring days! Breakfast was fabulous and the only time we were aware that there were any other quests in the hotel! Hope we get to go back soon!

Venere.com reviewers were right on point. Wonderful hotel in a wonderful part of Venice. Near to all attractions but far enough away from the noise and crowds. Great restaurants in the area (eg. Bepi Rest.). Easily accessible from airport (take bus to bus station and than no.1 vaporetto to C'Dor stop - make a right and another right and you are at a very comfortable hotel).

This is a very good hotel (four stars) and had the best breakfast of all the hotels we stayed at in 2 weeks in Italy. The patio on the roof was beautiful at night for seeing the boats go by. The rooms were great and the baths also (we couldn't figure out some of the controls on the jet tub, but it was very nice). The price is a little high, but the location is great. You can take a bus from the airport to the train station on the mainland, then take the train to the island, and then it is a 15 minute walk to the hotel (not recommended if you brought a bunch of suitcases). We only took backpacks so it was great.

This hotel is a 20 minute walk from the train station in a great location to explore Venice. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, clean and well maintained. It included a plasma tv, spa bath and a lovely bed long enough for a 6'3" person. The only hiccup was with noise from the hallway, either extremely noisy guests or thin doors. The breakfast was perfect, a large selection of fruit, eggs, bacon, sausages, yoghurt, different breadrolls and croisants, fresh juices and yummy cakes. I just wish our stay in Venice was longer, would definately recommend Foscari Palace.

This is a lovely hotel set on the Grand canal. We had a room on the side of the hotel with a balcony ..the canal itself is noisy at night and there is a vaporetta stop close by so its romantic to be in a room on the canal but noisy. The staff were very helpful, the breakfast was wonderful and the location excellent.Good restaurant advice. The public rooms are beautiful but hardly used. Best looking and functioning bathroom we had in 3 weeks in Italy!

We arrived via vaporetto at the Ca D'Oro stop and walked just around the corner to the hotel. Very convenient. We were pleased by the English speaking and very helpful staff. The room was very spacious, well equipped and clean. Breakfast which was included in our quoted rate was plentiful and delicious with so many choices, we never left hungry. The lobby and sitting area are very nice, the small "reception" that was held for guest during our stay with champagne, small snacks and a harp player was very charming. The stay at Foscari Palace was perfect for our first visit to Venice. It was centerally located, with many sights like Rialto Bride and San Marco's Basilica within 10-15 min walk. Yet the hotel is located on a quiet square, so sleeping at night is no problem. Cafes and shops are located just around the corner, as well as 2 banks, so we were never at a loss. We would stay at the Foscari Palace again. Thank you.

Excellent hotel in a fantastic position. We booked a superior room and were fortunate enough to be upgraded to room 101 which overlooks the Grand Canal and the Rialto market. The staff were polite and even thanked us for chosing to spend our 25th wedding anniversary at their hotel. The breakfast and roof terrace were exactly as described in other reviews. We arrived by water taxi, which was expensive but a great way to arrive at the hotel. We caught the Alilaguna from Fondamenta Nuove back to the airport, you only have to cross two bridges and it takes about 5 minutes to walk there from the Hotel.( cost 12 Euros) The best way to see Venice is to walk and don't worry about getting lost, there is always a bar nearby.

There are a couple of good Bacari nearby which have excellent cichetti (Alla Vedova was our favourite.) We enjoyed our trip to Italy, and visited Rome, Florence and finally Venice-- and the Foscari Palace was our favourite hotel. It was easy to get from the train station to the hotel (even with luggage) and the central location on the Grand Canal was perfect. Although our room did not have a view, we were impressed with the ammenities, size and cleanliness of our room. The bathroom was spotless, but the sideways shower was a tight squeeze; in fact we found the showers very small in all of our Italian hotels. The swinging shower door did not keep all the water in the tub, and we had to mop the floor with towels after our morning showers. Breakfast at the Foscari was varied and delicious, and the hotel also provided treats in the evening for its guests; one night there was a complimentary cocktail reception, where a harpist entertained us in the beautiful salon downstairs. On the morning we left the hotel, a private water taxi picked us up at the front door, and we had a long last look at Venice, speeding across the lagoon to the airport. If we ever have the chance to visit Venice again, we will definitely stay at the Foscari Palace!

Like some other reviewers of this hotel, we found the reception staff a little less than friendly. This aside, we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It is in a wonderful location on the Grand Canal opposite the fish market, with very easy access to the vaporetto. We were in a room to one side of the hotel, which was lovely and quiet. The other big plus was the fantastic breakfasts. A really good spread with lots of different choices. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Hotel was easy to find, we caught Vaperetto 1 from P De Roma, 5 mins to Ca D'Oro, walk up Alley, turn right onto main 'road' then right again into Campo S' Sofia, Foscari Palace is down by the Canal. The welcome was great, we arrived at 7pm, were taken to our room and invited to a cocktail party in the lounge - every Saturday eve - reception booked us 2 restaurants, both were fantastic and less than 10 mins walk. To be fair, anywhere you want to go within Venice is less than 10 mins walk away, and if you don't want to walk the vaperetto takes you everywhere. The room was large, well furnished, clean and tidy. You do pay Euro 1.50 for coffee in the room, but that is for a jug of fresh filter coffee, 4 cups, so not bad all in all. The bar off the lounge is open til 10:30 pm, so ideal for a night cap. Breakfast is buffet style, with the choice of either ful english, fruit, cereal, breads and pastries etc, or all of the above if you wish. We had a fantastic weekend break and would recommend the Foscari Palace to everyone!

My husband and I have just returned from a 4 day break at the Foscari Palace to celebrate my 40th birthday and would highly recommend it!The hotel is perfectly situated - close to shops and restaurants and about 15-20mins walk away from St Marks Square / Rialto Bridge. The hotel itself is first class - the bedrooms are spacious and comfy and the jacuzzi bath is most welcome after a long day of walking and sightseeing! The breakfasts are amazing- fresh fruits/cold meats/croissants/scrambled eggs/bacon - need I go on? I must comment on the staff as I read many a review which said that they were not very helpful - I found them just the opposite - very friendly and very helpful! I have highly recommended this hotel to all my friends and family and hope to go back to Foscari Palace!

Great rooms, large bath, great location. Front desk was not very welcoming though. Also, the fabulous picture on the website with the outside patio tables including the view of the canal does not really exist. It is a tiny balcony on top of the roof that is actually closed off to hotel guests and so should not be on the site at all. That was one of the reasons that I had chosen this hotel to stay at. There is no place to sit outside in reality. Other than that, a nice room.

Outstanding experience. Stayed at Foscari prior to a cruise. Great location. Would stay there again and we highly recommend it. Only negative was that the hotel's dock was blocked so we had to walk one block with all our bags to catch a water taxi.

it is venice so you have to pay more than normal for a hotel of this quality but it was worth it. the breakfast was excellent and the room was comfortable and quiet with a nice balcony. the upstair balcony on top of the hotel was a great spot to have lunch and just take it all in. hotel was very easy to get to by actv (vaporetto), we followed the directions left by another reviewer and had no problems. we were surprised that we had to give the front desk our passports but were assured that this had to be done at all hotels and got them back in an hour.

Staying at the Foscari Palace was one of the major highlights of our trip. Will recommend to our travel agent as we booked this ourselves. Plan to definitely return to this hotel. Great location! This hotel is worthy of 5 stars.

Excellent location right around the corner for C'doro canal stop, which is really nice since we didn't have to haul our bags up and down the canal bridges as many others did. The rool was spacious and comfortable and clean - pricey but I believe that's expected with Venice. Helpfulness of staff was varied, but all seemed competent anyway. Breakfast was good - plenty of options and good flavors. Right on the Grand Canal so there were no (or few) balconies. The only thing missing was an outside sitting area - but there are so many in Venice that it wasn't really a problem. Would definitely stay there again.

We loved the Foscari palace. Our room was absolutely stunning and rather large for European standards. The breakfast in the morning was one of the best breakfasts we had in our whole 2 week trip to Italy. And the location was perfect - very close to the water taxi stop and many shops, restaurants and only a 5 minute walk to the Rialto bridge. Would definitely stay there again and again!

My wife and i celebrated her birthday and wedding annivesary at Foscari Palace,we could not fault it in any way.The breakfast for a hotel in Italy was special and catered for all taste. Situated near all the main tourist sites, and very convenient for the water bus stop at CA, DORO,which is a couple a minutes away.We will visit Venice again and stay in the Foscari Palace.

We spent 4 nights in Foscari Palace and all we can say is that everything was great. Fantastic breakfast, nice employees, great installations. Just one thing: don't ask the gondole drivers staying outside the hotel for any information not related to the price of the gondole travel, because they will be rude and unpolite with good words.

Very nice hotel, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Hotel has an excellent position and roof garden looks down onto the Grand Canal. As the Hotel doesn't have a resturant for evening meals and for a gastronomic delight you should go to the Algiubagio Restuarant, which the Foscari Palace suggested. It really is well worth going to.

This was by far my favorite hotel in Italy! The views are impeccable and the staff is super friendly. The rooms are extremely clean and quiet. Make sure to get a room with a view of the Grand Canal. If you can't, no worries as they have an awesome roof top terrace. Don't forget to ask about the free water taxi service to Murano. Great amenity! I am definitely going back to Venice and will be staying at the Foscari Palace.

I booked this hotel as a surprise holiday to celebrate our anniversary on the strength of other reviews and am very pleased I did. I'm not a big fan of tourists (why go to Venice you may ask!) but this hotel is perfectly situated away from the main tourist bits, although close enough if that's what you're after. If you can run to it, get yourself a private water taxi from the airport - and yes they ARE expensive! There is nothing quite like arriving at the hotel's private landing stage rather than struggling with your luggage on the crowded vaporetti.Reception staff extremely welcoming when we arrived and we were given a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the Campo Santa Sofia but also with great views of the Grand Canal - an especially nice place to sit in the evening whilst watching the sun go down. The room itself was excellent - clean, comfortable and with an affordable mini-bar. My only minor gripe with the room would be the shower - a complicated affair with nozzles, gadgets and sprays all over the place but in the end cramped and not particularly efficient. A simple powerful shower with lots of nice hot water would have been much better. Good choice and good quality of food at breakfast - just the job to set you up for the day. Location is just excellent as I have said. Although on the Grand Canal it seems miles away from the pigeons and people of San Marco. Canarregio is a delightful area of the city, just take a few steps from the main streets and you are in the peace and quiet of the real Venice. The lack of cars is an absolute treat! Some great restaurants and bars close by too - who could want more. All in all I can't imagine how you would be disappointed in this hotel. I stayed at the Hotel Danielli some years ago, and whilst a beautiful place, overall I would go for the Foscari Palace anytime.

Excellent spacious accommodation in a wonderful location on the Grand Hotel. Weather in mid-March perfect, just wish we had found the roof-top terrace earlier. Breakfast superb. Only negative was we had booked a double bed but actually had two singles pushed together.

The location was good but the hotel let itself down in the details. While there was an abundance of choice of food at breakfast, the coffee was poor - probably filtered. The bedroom had a whizzy shower unit, but most of the jets on the body shower were blocked.

An excellent hotel for the price, good location but possibly not ideal fro first time visitors to Venice. Excellent breakfast compared to most hotels in Venice and public areas well above average. Highly recommended

My friend and I stayed in a double supreme room (two separate beds). We found the room to be one of the best we have seen anywhere in Europe. It was large, quiet, very clean, and comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed, well heated, and spacious. The service was excellent and the breakfast was more than ample - and with a great deal of choices (eggs, cereals, juices, fruit, cheese, coffee, etc., etc.). I really cannot think of any negatives whatsoever - except that our stay (4 nights) was much too short. I hope to be able to stay here again in the future. (Hint: while in Venice buy a 3 day pass for the vaporetti - the water "buses" - it can add up to a huge savings).

Excellent stay; we highly recommend the Foscari Palace and will definitely stay there on our next trip to Venice. Located 1/2 way between the train station and San Marcos, it is actually a nice quiet location, even though it is right on the Grand Canal. The view from our room and the roof deck were both spectacular. There are many restaurants in the area and a vaporetto stop is one building away.

A lovely hotel in a good location. However, competence has been marked as poor as we did not get the canal view room that we had reserved for additional cost due to an error by their staff. They apologised for the "computer" error but I suspect that whoever accepted the upgrade some 6 months before the holiday, forgot to record it on the computer and "our" room was therefore given to somebody else. Apart from this blunder, we enjoyed our stay very much

Highlights of the best hotel we have ever stayed in: 1. Wonderful front desk staff, helped book water taxis and restaurants; promptly responded to e-mail before and after stay 2. Beautiful linens, marble baths, thick terry bathrobes, bath ammenities 3. Welcoming fruit bowl/silver compote and coffee maker in the room on arrival 4. Airport survival basket containing cookies, juices, bottled water on departure 5. Wonderful hot breakfasts with excellent pastries every morning 6. Even a complimentary cocktail hour one evening with champagne, chocolates and music performed by flute and cello players 7. Excellent location 1/2 block from a main water bus stop on the Grand Canal 8. Hotel was quiet as it is located on a small side street, yet close to a plaza with lots of cafes and shops 9. We are planning to return to Venice soon partly to be spoiled some more by the Foscari Palace/ don't even think about staying anyplace else!

My husband and I had a fabulous stay at Foscari Palace. In short, the hotel is beautiful, the service is outstanding, and we thought the location was great. Prior to arriving in Venice, we mistakenly believed from looking at maps of Venice that our location was okay but not great. However, everything was within walking distance, we were very close to restaurants, shops, and a grocery store, and the best part was that we were not in the middle of all the crowds. Our area was quite and calm, which is great once you see the crowds in Venice! As for the service, the hotel staff was the best I have ever had abroad. We were even upgraded to a beautiful and large suite for no extra charge because it was our honeymoon. (Because we stayed in a suite, I cannot comment on the size of the regular rooms). We received a welcome basket and a departure basket with fruits and snacks, which we thought were great touches! We cannot recommend this hotel enough.

This hotel was BEAUTIFUL; it exceeded our expectations. The room for 3 of us was spacious, immaculate and lovely. The bathroom was all marble, a comfortable size, with a tub, shower and jacuzzi in the shower. It too was immaculate. The public areas are immaculate and luxurious. The staff was very nice, friendly enough, professional and polite. Breakfast room was bright and cheerful, with a good variety of choices, eggs, bacon, fresh bread and rolls, ham, cheeses, fresh fruit, pastries, cereals, etc. The food was fresh and nicely presented. Our first morning there we were running a little behind and the frontdesk called us about 40 minutes before they closed to remind us about breakfast, which I thought was a nice thing to do. Convenient location, not too far a walk from the Ponte Rialto and the Ca D'Oro stop on the waterbus. We would definitely recommend this hotel without hesitation, and would definitely stay here again.

The location is excellent and the staff helpful. Breakfast is extremely good and the rooms are spacious. Outside can get quite noisy so we shut the efficient double glazed windows at night which made the rooms rather hot and stuffy - we couldn't adjust the central heating. I imagine in summer the AC will do the trick. Everything else was great, we would return.
