Great rooms, great location, helpful staff. Only 2 small minuses: 1. The breakfast buffet is below par of what we come to expect in a 4-star hotel these days and it is 100% the same every day. 2. Some of the areas (e.g. the bathrooms) are starting to look a little tired and in need of a refresh.

We upgraded our stay at short notice to the Junior Suite Gonzaga, so as expected the rooms were very comfortable & spacious. View’s from the 2 balconies of the Grand canal were directly across from the Rialto market so if you are bothered by noise you may prefer to not to have a canal view as all produce for the market is delivered by barge in the mornings. Personally we loved this as it provided a great sense of vibrancy. Location is fantastic as you can easily walk to any district of Venice you choose, or if you prefer there is a vaporetto stop 2 mins away & a traghetto stop immediately outside the hotel. The only negative I could find with this hotel is the breakfast area is not the largest, so can easily get full during busy periods. All the staff we encountered were very helpful especially "Divna" who was extremely helpful & cheerful.

Beautiful location. Comfortable room. If I go back, I'd probably splurge for a canal view. The location is perfect because it is away from the most crowded and touristy section, yet very easy to get to everything. There is a nice breakfast, but the coffee is undrinkable. Not a big deal since I just went down the street for cappuccino but surprising nonetheless.

Hotel very nice and very well situated in Venice. The rooms are big and the bathroom very nice with jacuzzi included even if the roof painting would need some renovation and the lamps being repaired (small electric problems). The breakfast is very good and diverse. Very nice hotel but not a real 4* at the European standards.

Nice location on the Grand Canal, very central to visit Venice. Our room had no view on the canal, but was over the main entrance of the hotel. It was very quiet and we were very satisfied. Large room, easy internet access, excellent breakfast buffet with large variety of food. Nice staff too. Some small things could be fixed in the bathroom (paint, leaking shower pipe). The batch of oil paintings in the staircase, all about the same, so as the furnishing of the breakfast room would deserve to be replaced... This said this hotel offers an excellent value for money

We stayed at the Foscari in January at a very good rate, the least we have paid in Venice for probably the best hotel. The location in Campo Santa Sofia was excellent, close to the restaurants and bars in Cannareggio and steps away from the Ca d'Oro vapoetto stop. When there a problem with wifi provision and we urgently needed to check our flights due to snow in the UK, the receptionist (name unknown but tall and blond) was very helpful. We are not usually breakfast eaters but the selection at the Foscari was so tempting that we succumbed every day. All in all, a very good place to stay and we will be back as soon as possible.

The location of the hotel is wonderfull betweel Rialto and Ca D'Oro making it easy to get to on the Vaporetto. There are plenty of places to eat within easy walking distance. The breakfast is great although the room could be larger as it gets crowded some times. A great base for a stay in Venice.

The Foscari Hotel was perfect for us. Rooms are large and comfortable. We thought the location might be a disadvantage but honestly it is only 10 minutes wander to the Rialto Bridge and 20 minutes to St Marco Square. Foscari Palace was the best hotel experience I have ever had. The location was perfect. Arriving via private taxi on the grande canal to the front door is a must. The staff was very friendly and helpful and even upgraded our second room so the children could be on the same floor. The breakfast was a real meal, not just a few rolls that some hotels call breakfast. The roof top terrace was a fantastic place to experience a Venetian sunset.

Hotel Foscari Palace has an excellent location. It is right next to the vaporetto stop and easy to get around to everywhere in Venice. The room was a very good size but we upgraded to a deluxe canal view room and were disappointed that our window was so small. In fairness, this appears to bea Venice thing and I don't think the hotel misled us. The bathroom was also very spacious and great except for a terrible shower. The shower has body jets but is really poorly designed. We did a lot of research and the value did seem good for Venice. The included breakfast was decent.

We booked Foscari Palace after looking at many hotels in Venice. We wanted to be on the Grand Canal and overlooking it. We were able to get just such a room at Foscari Palace as well as several others for the dates we needed. We based our decision on other customer reviews and we were glad we did so. The staff were friendly helpful and did their best to communicate with us in english. We were amazed at how beautiful this place is and how centrally located it is. Our price was e420 1st night and e440 the second night. It is not the least expensive but is well worth the money. If you want to treat yourself to something special, this is it.

The hotel was excellent in all respects. Arrived to front door by water taxi and was welcomed by very helpful staff. Were able to leave bags with them whilst we went exploring for the day and returned to book in mid afternoon. All public areas of the hotel are spotless and imposing. The room was beatifully decorated and looked to be recently refurbished (it is clear this hotel has had a lot of investment recently) The bathroom was very well appointed including the shower/bath unit which we were able to work out quite easily. Oh and breakfast is wonderful with a massive spread of cold meats/cheese/fruit etc, a selection of yummy cakes and the option of hot food as well. When we return to Venice, this will be our hotel again.

I would highly recommend this hotel. Hotel is in a great location; a couple hundred meters off of a water bus stop, next to a Traggheto stop, and easy waking distance (10-15 min) to both the train station and St. Mark's square. The hotel itself is on the Grand Canal & has a small porch area to sit and relax, as well as great patio and rooftop areas to sit and have a drink, etc - the rooftop patio has excellent view of the Canal. Staff was incredibly helpful, and without requesting it they gave us an early check-in and a room upgrade. Breakfast was very good; they had scrambled eggs and cooked prosciutto as well as all of the normal Italian breakfast fare. Cafe was from a self service machine. The only thing this hotel lacks is Internet access. Would come back to Foscari Palace in a heartbeat; we really enjoyed our stay.

We had a wonderful two days in Venice at the Foscari Palace. Welcoming, service-minded and knowledgeable staff, central location (walking distance to the Rialto and St. Mark's), and the gondola rides offered right outside the door is a LOT cheaper than what is offered at the major tourist attractions! This place is gorgeous and very easy to get to (from Vaporetto line 1, exit C'a doro, make a right on the first st, and a right on the next first st, it's literally right around the block from the stop and right on the water by a gondolier stop). For us, it was a bit of a splurge but worth every penny. The breakfast buffet is huge and delicious and we never had to eat again until dinner. The beds were comfortable, the rooms lush, and the AC freezing. The shower was great, too, with a jaccuzzi tub, foot massager/sprayer, and wall jets for the shower, but the door didn't seal and flooded the bathroom each time we used it. We would definitely stay here again, though, both because of its location and its quality.

The hotel is great and the location is the best you can have. The only thing you should know if that despite you book a 'double' room, you will have to paired beds with single bed linings. You must ask for king bed like linings when you book. I was able to get the linings changed, but only after several complaints. The front desk lady was not exactly what is called "customer oriented". Anyway at last I got what I wanted! Definitely a good stay overall.

The rooms and surroundings were excellent. Clean, quite, spacious, modern and well maintained. The bathroom was spacious and well maintained - including shampoo, soaps, etc. The terrace outside our room was really nice, and the rooftop terrace was terrific - great views and well maintined. The staff was generally helpful and attentive except for a couple of things. We had questions about some of the local attractions (the Basillica in St Mark's Square) and the hotel had basically no information to help us - did not offer to call and find out anything, and basically seemed unconcerned about it. This type of conscierge service is expected at any four star hotels. On the day of departure. We had to get up very early and depart for the airport around 4AM, so the staff helped us check out the night before with a final bill. However, on the morning of departure, the staff did not help us out of the hotel by doing something as simple as helping us with bags or openning the door - I smashed my finger trying to get the door open while carrying three pieces of luggage. Also, knowing that we were leaving so early and unable to get food - they did not pack us a breakfast - which is somehting the UNA and othe four star hotels provide. The included breakfast in the morning had a selection that was adequate - not stellar, but adequate. The only hot food was eggs and bacon. However, every morning we went down to breakfast at about 8:30AM, there were no eggs left and the bacon was down to 1 to 2 slices. We waited patiently till about 9:30AM, but the hot food was never replaced. For the price, location, and quality of the rooms I thought the hotel was great, and I would probably stay there agin - but the staff fell short of four star hotel status in tems of conscierge service.

Based on previous traveler's reviews we took the risk of choosing a hotel for half the price of similar ones in the same category. It was well worth it! Although the hotel is not in the St. Mark's area it was only 5 minutes walk from Rialto and 10 minutes walk from St. Mark’s Square. Foscari Palace is on the Canal Grande just 100 meters away from Ca’ D’Oro Vaporetto station where Line 1 stops. So you don’t have to walk your luggage in crowded narrow alleys and up-down on canal bridges. The hotel has a waterfront with direct water taxi access and there is a pier next to the hotel entrance for public gondola crossing to the fruit and fish market for as little as 50 euro cents. The main entrance of the hotel is from the quiet square of Campo Santa Sofia which opens from the possibly most orderly street of Venice, the Strada Nova. Check in took less than a minute, so as check out. The hotel is very well maintained, even by our fussy standards. The staff was polite and appeared to be well organized. English was well spoken by the receptionists but no so fluently by the waitress in the breakfast room. We were impressed by the size of our room, we felt like being in a ballroom in Venice standards. I would say it was about 40 m2 with 2 large windows facing to Campo Santa Sofia having a side view on the Canal Grande. Bathroom was also spacious, clean and well equipped. Our room was Nr. 208, a double superior type, I have no idea about the other rooms. Breakfast was a generous cold buffet enhanced with some hot sausage, boiled egg and scrambled egg. If you want to have a good cappuccino or latte ask the waitress to bring you one. Having visited Venice several times already, we appreciated the spaciousness, good condition and excellent accessibility of Foscari Palace. Real value for money.

A great Venice hotel, very convenient location, and very helpful staff who helped us find good local restaurants and generally couldn't do enough to help. The Foscari Palace is a beautiful hotel and is very well located. It is the third time we are in this hotel, and already have recommended to several friends who visited Venice. It is very clean and has a nice design, but we noticed changes in the way welcome guests. The first time we stayed a room with a nice bowl of fruit and a nice welcome cocktail on Saturday. The second time there was no cup of fruit, yet offered the cocktail and the staff remained very friendly and attentive and breakfast was still excellent. Last time we only noticed the cleaning of the rooms and the hotel, however we had to stay three days without rest, in a superior double room, due to a problem motivated by the unbearable noise of air conditioning that could not be mitigated because he had interaction with others floor rooms. They should provide the proper insulation. Breakfast, this time was much lower, and from staff we noticed a cold treatment, and we have never been invited to serve us a snack that was available every day at the reception. The Staff with the exception of a non-European that is still nice, is extremely distant, limited to the traditional buon giorno and buona sera. The hotel staff should improve the reception in winter.

Hotel was better than expected, staff were very professional, helpful and friendly. Excellent buffet breakfast. Public areas very attractive and well tended. We had a really good capuccino in the hotel, a bit pricey, but well worth it,biscuits were a nice touch. There is nothing we would criticise and would definitely book the hotel again.

It would be difficult to find a hotel in Venice more centrally or more conveniently situated for exploring the city and the lagoon - overlooking the Grand Canal, immediately adjacent to the traghetto for the Rialto fishmarket, and only a few steps from the Ca' d'Oro vaporetto stop. The Campo Santa Sofia is a delightfully quiet square with an excellent cafe where one can sit in the sun and watch the world pass by along the lively Strada Nova. The Hotel itself is both stylish and comfortable, the breakfasts sumptuous and the staff, without exception, could not have been more helpful or considerate. I was touched, for instance, that a bottle of sparkling wine was quite unexpectedly delivered to our room on my birthday, with the compliments of the hotel. We enormously enjoyed our week's stay, hope to return as soon as we can and will confidently recommend the Foscari Palace to all our friends.

The Foscari Palace is perfectly situated on the Grand Canal with a wonderful view of the city (particularly from the roof-deck patio). Its about a 5 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge and about a 30 minute walk to San Marco Square. All of the staff were extremely friendly, very helpful, and all spoke English very well. We upgraded our room for a mere 50 Euros per night to an amazing Canal view room. The management surprised us with a bottle of champagne and a huge fruit bowl! The room had 2 incredibly tall windows overlooking the Grand Canal and one included a small deck you could stand out on. The room was stunning. The bathroom is ultra-modern and completely decorated in coloured marble. The shower has about 15 shower heads! Amazing! The included breakfast buffet was the best we had in two weeks in Europe. The cocktail party in the lobby included a live harpist (beautiful music!). This hotel was, truth be told, the very best hotel my wife and I have ever stayed in. We would very highly recommend it to anyone!

hotel was lovely, perfect location and friendly staff, though a bit surprised we booked through venere! Jacuzzi style bathtub with multiple shower heads was complicated and encumbered, and not really working properly--a much simpler device with steady hot water would have been better. The room was gracious and lovely and the staff was very friendly, helpful and the festival fireworks from the rooftop deck bar were spectacular!

Clean, modern & roomy. We loved the Foscari Palace! I stayed with my several adult family members. We were there in June 2009. The rooms were modern and spacious even for 3 people in one room. We had a great view of the canal from our window. The bathrooms were clean and modern. Everything seemed to be recently renovated. The staff was helpful & recommended places for dinner each evening. There was a woman playing the harp in the lobby & complimentary drinks & snacks one evening before dinner. The Foscari has a wonderful rooftop terrace with amazing views of the Grand Canal and St. Mark's Square. My pictures of Venice taken from the rooftop are incredible! I would stay here again. It's wasn't cheap, but what quality hotel, with a convenient location is during prime season?

Travelled alone but booked a Double Superior room. Had a partial view of the Grand Canal and was at front of the hotel, overlooking the little square, another hotel opposite and the S.Sofia Traghetto stop inbetween - was worried this would be noisy in the morning but closing the shutters on the 3 large windows I got an excellent sleep every night. The bed was very large, room spacious, bathroom had jacuzzi bath and although this and the shower took a few mins to work out it's not that complicated really! Jacuzzi bath is very relaxing after a long day's wandering, bathroom was stocked with everything you could possibly need including robe and slippers. The beer from the mini-bar was only 3 euro, fairly cheap but in the nearby supermarket you could get 3 bottles for 1.80! Venetian's have it good! Location-wise the hotel is about 2 mins walk from Ca d'Oro Vaporetto stop and 10-15 mins walk from St. Mark's Square, it's a pleasant walk and although Strada Novo is fairly busy it's fine to stay near (in off-season at least) as it has a lot of good coffe shops, cake shops, supermarket and some okay restaurants. The better restaurants are down the narrow side streets and are worth having a look for as anywhere sporting a 'menu touristico' is likely best avoided. The hotel staff were all very friendly and kept out of your way unless you wanted something, the room also had an electronic safe which was useful, it also had a strange 'multi-room' radio system which only seemed to pick up static but who cares, a nice LCD TV was mounted on the wall and had Sky News and BBC World News but again you're not in Venice to watch TV. I really like staying in the Cannareggio region of Venice and if you don't mind being a bit away from the center it's a great area, less than 10 mins from Rialto bridge and if your fit an easy an enjoyable 15 min walk to St. Mark's or hop on the vaporetto and it's maybe 20 mins away. The hotel lays on a large buffet breakfast with hot food, fresh frui

Our first visit to Venice but definately not our last, it is magical. But then you will know that already! The hotel was exactly as described and was good value. The staff were all very efficient and kind. The air-conditioning had been switched off, but the nights were still warm, so our room was too hot, however everything else was great. I would certainly go to the Foscari Palace again. The Chorus Pass giving access to 16 Churches is brilliant value and we were entranced by the buildings, the art and the overwhelming sense of history. The Accademia Gallery needs a shake up; I had to hunt around to find the shop in order to buy a guide, these should be sold at the start. And no cafe? Maybe not enough space but a trip to the Uffizi will show how to do things slightly differently. If they contact me I will advise!! We cannot wait to return to explore more of Venice. Finding reasonably prices restaurants is, of course, a big challenge, but there are several and I shall keep those a secret.

This was our first trip to Venice and wanted to have a reasonably nice hotel, easy to locate and somewhat removed from the hustle of San Marco. This was the perfect choice. The location was walk able to the Rialto, San Marco, lots of shops and restaurants. The water buses (vaporetti) was one calle away, with gondolas & traghetti, at the doorstep. The accommodations were exactly as pictured. The rooms were generally a good size, especially for European standards, and comparable to the 5 star hotel were we stayed in Rome. The staff was extremely helpful with arrangements to Murano, made calls on our behalf, and was gracious. The house staff, bell men, housekeepers were always accommodating. However, a few of the reception staff, although gracious, seemed annoyed that we had asked and/or wanted something from them. The hotel does provide computer hookups, but for leisure travelers, a business center with common computers would have been really helpful. We really enjoyed our stay at the Foscari Palace and would stay there again without hesitation.

Venere.com reviewers were right on point. Wonderful hotel in a wonderful part of Venice. Near to all attractions but far enough away from the noise and crowds. Great restaurants in the area (eg. Bepi Rest.). Easily accessible from airport (take bus to bus station and than no.1 vaporetto to C'Dor stop - make a right and another right and you are at a very comfortable hotel).

This was our first time we had stayed at Hotel Foscari Palace and hopefully it won't be the last! The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff were really helpful. Only disappointment was that the roof terrace wasn't open. The public areas were gorgeous and we sat there at night with a nightcap which was a perfect way to finish our very tiring days! Breakfast was fabulous and the only time we were aware that there were any other quests in the hotel! Hope we get to go back soon!

This is a very good hotel (four stars) and had the best breakfast of all the hotels we stayed at in 2 weeks in Italy. The patio on the roof was beautiful at night for seeing the boats go by. The rooms were great and the baths also (we couldn't figure out some of the controls on the jet tub, but it was very nice). The price is a little high, but the location is great. You can take a bus from the airport to the train station on the mainland, then take the train to the island, and then it is a 15 minute walk to the hotel (not recommended if you brought a bunch of suitcases). We only took backpacks so it was great.

This hotel is a 20 minute walk from the train station in a great location to explore Venice. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, clean and well maintained. It included a plasma tv, spa bath and a lovely bed long enough for a 6'3" person. The only hiccup was with noise from the hallway, either extremely noisy guests or thin doors. The breakfast was perfect, a large selection of fruit, eggs, bacon, sausages, yoghurt, different breadrolls and croisants, fresh juices and yummy cakes. I just wish our stay in Venice was longer, would definately recommend Foscari Palace.
