free wifi is nice, although only works in kitchen area. Hotel hosts were VERY nice and accommodating. Very helpful and very friendly. Rooms were small but clean. Venice is just so expensive, so for the price, the value was good. Location is really really good because it's right next to the train station which is really helpful

Close to the station and the Rialto Bridge. We had 2 triple rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors . No lifts in venice so lighter luggage is the way to go. Venice hotels are pricey but location was good. A bit of a walk to the duomo however. Breakfast was great and bathrooms spacious and clean. Close to many restaurants. We had a great stay at hotel Florida.

We just completed a 4-week trip involving 15 hotels with Hotel Florida in Venice being one of our favorites. It's location very close to the train station was an important consideration for us. The room was excellent, the staff outstanding and the breakfast, included in the price, was the best on our trip! Another word on the staff, from the minute of our arrival, they really made us feel at home. We also really like the Venere touch of sending an email message with the weather forecast prior to arrival.

When we arrived at the Florida Hotel the young man and young lady at the desk were most gracious with incredible English usage. I hadn't realized there was no elevator and had a large bag which was carried upstairs for me. The room was nice for the price and the staff was most helpful about restaurant information and checking the airport boat-bus information for us (important since Venice is a very difficult airport connection). Location of hotel is great.

We booked a triple room for 2 adults and one child. Hotel location is very close to railway station, only for a few minutes walking. And it is very easy to take a boat or walking to tourist attractions. We have to wait for 20-30 minutes for receptionist to finish with other customer. It is very difficult to carry big luggages upstairs. Stairs were narrow and our room was on the 3 rd floor. So I decide to leave one luggage at lobby area. However, a young handsome receptionist help us to carry one big luggage to the 3rd floor. The temperature in room was a little bit cold and wifi was not working in our bedroom. Tap water needed to open for a few minutes to get it warm. Breakfast was OK but seats were very limited. Some customers needed to wait for several minutes.

Visited Hotel Florida on August 2012. Very handy location next to the train station. The room was clean and included own bathroom + air conditioning. The breakfast was delicious, partly table service. An excellent choice if you prefer to take a room in the island but don't want to pay overly high sums.

Generaly, if we consider that this hotel is situated in Venice it self (on the island)the rooms are offered with a honest price. I don't know the updated hotel room prices in Venice at this moment, I only remember that almost everybody took room in Mestre because of the high prices in Venice. In this case it seems that is possible to take room in the island at a reasonable price. The hotel is situated in a very commod place, near the Sta. Lucia train station and close to the big parking at Piazale Roma.

We enjoyed our 3 day-stay at Hotel Florida. The receptionist named Emanuelle who welcomed us is very friendly and helpful. He gave us a map of Venice and helped us with places to go. He helped us too with our safety box because we had a problem opening it.. He is good in english so there was no problem with communication. The girl who served breakfast is also very nice and friendly, although she spoke italian it was not a problem communicating with her because she understood everything we said in english. You can order all kinds of coffee.. from espresso, cappuchino, cafe latte etc. bread with ham and cheese, juice, yogurt etc.. the only thing we needed was egg and bacon ;) The room is small and simple but very clean. The toilet is clean too. There is a free wi-fi if u have your own laptop or ipad with you, so excellent! we used it a lot in the evening before we went to sleep :) Location of the hotel is perfect.. almost beside Sta Lucia central train station. When you go out of the train station there is a church on the left side.. just after the church is a little street on the left and there is Hotel Florida. I will definitely recommend this hotel.. not expensive but has everything you need! :)

Staff were very helpful, we had a triple room for the two of us and it was spacious. Location is very close to railway station which is great if you have a lot of baggage. Hotel is within reasonable walking distance to Rialto - but for those less able to walk the River boat stop is close. Breakfast which was included had a good choice & was self service, apart from tea and coffee which is brought to your table. A big discovery was the Fondazione Querini Stampalia, in the Castello area, (we walked there) it has a free library (amazing) open Sundays where you can read all the foreign newspapers, entrance to the museum is 10E - excellent value as the rooms have paintings but also furniture and gives the atmosphere of a Palazzo in 18C excellent.

We were all sharing one room to keep costs down, and were pleased it was quite spacious, very quiet, very close to railway station, ie 1 minute walk, close to good restaurants, right near the canal and lovely staff. Good value breakfast too. The decor was not brand new but it was authentic venetian , very clean and tranquil. Good bathroom with space to hang washing and plenty of room for our bags. Loved it! We had to climb 1 flight of stairs with our bags - but no trouble.

Hotel is very near the train station so very convenient for those arriving by train. Hotel room I was given was small and quite noisy -- it faces the little alley along which the hotel is located, and there was some construction work just below my window. However, the noise was much reduced once the windows were closed. There was free Internet connection in the room and the signal strength was very good. The mattresses on the twin beds were very soft and sunken in the centre. When we requested a change of room, the lady in the reception offered a change of mattresses instead. The 'new' mattresses looked pretty much the same. We decided not to complain but bear with the situation for the 2 nights we were booked. We were travelling with another couple who had a nicer quieter room on the other side of the hotel. Their beds and mattresses were firmer and looked newer. But their aircon remote control was not given to them even though it was available at the reception counter and even though they had asked for it. An Australian couple in the room next to them managed to get the aircon remote to control the room temperature. This difference in treatment we guessed was because we're Asian Chinese. Breakfast was adequate altho we've had better spreads elsewhere.

Venice is quite expensive. A room in a hotel is hard to gain lower than €80,- With this hotel we received what we had booked and it was OK for this price. Best thing is the short distance to rail station. When we arrived at midnight because of delay it was easy to find and to reach with our heavy baggage. I think most people forget at booking that at midnight all ticket offices, turist informations and public transports are closed. Than you welcome a close hotel! I was also pleased about short distance to public transports at canal de grande and equal to cheap restaurants. At this destrict "Cannaregio" you can find bars and "osterias" were lot of natives are. Price is much lower than at hot turist destricts i.e. "San Marco".

Fine hotel and good value for money (Venice is expensive anyway!) EXCELLENT location, very central and VERY EASY access, one minute and NO STAIRS from the vaporetto public transport boat neither from the train station(we had a baby's chair). Rooms have private safe, as well as hotel. No climatisation but a lot of shadow. No baby's cot. A pity. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast? eerr? depends... I like good food and italian bread is just bad (sorry for my italian friends), but this is not the hotel's guilt. They have coffee yogurts for breakfast: surprising and good. Next door restaurant (different owner) good but no air, so if there's a terrace, go for it. Enjoy your future stay!

This property was easy to find and very close to the train station. This is very helpful when dragging luggage. The room was spacious with air conditioning and a bathroom set off from the sleeping area. Breakfast was ok. Evening staff was not friendly and not very helpful with the computer

For 2-star hotel we had 2 conditioned rooms (for 3 of us) in good size, plus clean and quite big bathroom, lovely in decorations and very quiet. Very close to train station, which is convinient. The only thing- no elevators, so, be prepared, don't take too much luggage with you! I'd use it again!

Nice hotel, friendly staff, very close to train station and water bus station, close to shopping and restaurants, very nice breakfast bar (nicest we had in Europe), accustomed to larger bathrooms in USA but good for Europe. Be sure to request a private bath if you so desire when booking reservations as we did. Many European hotels have a combination of private and shared baths. A honeymoon couple at the hotel was quite upset to learn they had to share a bathroom; luckily, a room with a private bath became available and was given to them.

I stayed at the Florida twice on my trip. The first room was smaller and not up to date. The second room was larger and more modern including A/C. Very friendly and helpful staff. The location is great, just steps off the Grand Canal and the train station.

A fantastic location if you are arriving by train. No more than a 5 minute walk from the station and easy to find. Helpful staff. While you are a fair way from the main sights the ferry is very close.

Great place to stay. It was in a really good location - right in the heart of Venice on the canals, which gave easy access to St Marks Square by water bus. Close to station and water buses and great shops and cafes within easy walk. Would highly recommend.

Close proximity to train station (ease of movement with heavy luggages!). Very small room with tiny bathroom space. Very basic breakfast served. Do ask to pay in cash and you may get a 5% discount!

The location is fantastic, as it is located just a few steps from the train station. The first floor (reception) had a free Wireless Internet connection. Our room was located on the second floor, and we had to carry our luggage up there, since there was no elevator. The shower was unpleasant, due to an old pointy plastic mat on its floor.

The Hotel Florida offers a good relationship between price and quality BUT the employees should be more kind with tourists.

For Venice, it was OK. A little stingy on bathroom supplies and breakfast. Location was good, close to main canal and railway station.

Really liked the room, a lovely reasonable size room - very clean- with 2 double glazed doors to little balcony above a small lane with restaurants and other hotels which was very busy early morning and all day, so a bit noisy-am but quiet during the night, (a room at the back may be better if you want a quiet morning) Was easy to find- arrived quite late at night. In a great position for transport very near trains buses and waterbuses lots of reasonable restaurants-shops nearby. Suit singles, younger and older couples and families.

Hotel Florida was a good place for me to stay. After reading quite a few reviews, I wasn't expecting anything much space or luxury but was expecting that my room would be clean and central to transport with decent service. This was pretty much what I got. Hotel Florida is kind've like staying with a distant Aunty of Uncle. The rooms are smallish (well, I had a single room, so probably one of the smallest), old and spartan but clean. The service at reception was good. Some staff were more helpful than others but certainly helped me with my queries and even assisted me in charging my Italian phone service. My room was on a busy lane but if you're prepared you'll travel everywhere with an eye mask and ear plugs. Noise wasn't too bad but I imagine that during more festive times, it would be nuts. Also, rooms had wooden shutters so that was good for keeping the light out in the early morning. Hotel Florida is extremely close to Santa Lucia train station and the 2 main vaporetto lines - this was great. Also, if you follow the main drag (just up the lane) around, you can walk the whole way to Piazza San Marco. Breakfact was fine - nothing fancy. So if travel regularly on a low-ish budget and are looking for a clean room that's central to transport (a decent place to sleep, basically) then Hotel Florida will be fine for you. If you are looking for 5 star treatment - you shouldn't stay here. I enjoyed my time at Hotel Florida and got to see lots of Venezia

We stayed at Florida hotel in Venice for 3 nights in April 2008. The hotel is located very close (right around the corner) to train station which was very convenient. We had twin room with bathroom and paid 402 EUR for 3 nights. Room and bathroom were clean and quite. I would recommend this hotel.

Very convenient for rail travellers, as hotel is very close to station and one can easily walk there with luggage. Hotel staff very helpful. By Venice standards, the price of the room, although high for the facilities offered, was reasonable. No need for an alarm clock, as the peel of bells from the neighbouring church (at 7.30 a.m. and 8.15 a.m.) means one need never miss breakfast!

Location good near station and close to Grande Canal. Rooms very small, but probably not too much different to other accomodation in Venice. Bathroom was good, although small, but bed needed replacing. Breakfasts good.

We were very pleased with the hotel. We stayed for 4 nights and everyone we met was very pleasant and always willing to answer questions, etc. Since our train was leaving later in the day, the desk person was very gracious in allowing us to leave our luggage while we were out in the city during our last day. I would recommend the hotel to all.

The hotel rooms were a little basic and small,my room was noisy as I was above the entrance. However, the rooms were very clean, towels changed every day, bed comfortable. Staff very friendly and accommodating. location perfect. A tad expensive but adequate for Venice. Loads of bars and eating places close by, next door infact. An excellent stay.

We needed a hotel near the Santa Lucia train station and the vaporetto. This hotel was a very short distance from both and easy to find. The room was very small for 3 adults one of us had to sleep on a childs camp bed, but it was clean.

Venice is expensive. Once you've accepted that fact this hotel is a good deal. We liked the location - close to the train station so we didn't need to drag our suitcases on and off boats. And central enough to take a break in midday. Close to a major water-bus station along the Grand Canal for easy trips throughout the city. Clean, quiet, air conditioned (though the nights were cool anyway in Late Aug). Good choice. The worst part would be the sound of the airconditioners outside the windows. But, then, thats pretty hard to get away from anywhere in town. But at least there's no traffic noise. Breakfast was simple and adequate. Staff friendly. Rooms clean and well maintained.

The only good thing about Florida was that it was very close to the train station and it was clean. The man and woman standing at the front desk didn't even bother to look up or greet us when we said hello to them (in English and Italian) and handed them the room key. They just look at you when you walk in the hotel and not smile or say a word. They treated us like we were bothering them. The rooms are simple. The bathrooms are tiny. There was a loud hum from some machine in the back of the hotel outside our window but fortunately it turned off during the night. We were glad we only stayed one night.

I chose this hotel for its close proximity to the train station in Venice (it's literally one block away), the price, and the fact that they offered both Internet access and air conditioning (it was August). Short of the room needing a fresh coat of paint and a good carpet cleaning, and it was quirky that the toilet and shower were in the same space, the staff were very nice, the breakfast was good, and the location was fantastic with great access to the water buses and train, as well as a lovely shopping street with lots of restaurants. I spent 3 nights there as a single woman, and always felt safe in the area. I would certainly stay here again in the future.
