The hotel is very close from Venezia Santa Lucia sttion, very cozy for those who arrive late at night. Also it is just few steps from center of boat station. The staff is very welcoming and helpful despite a little of language barrier. The room is bigger and nicer than I expect. Only drawback is the noise from outside can be troublesome if you want to go to sleep early.

Staff were very helpful, we had a triple room for the two of us and it was spacious. Location is very close to railway station which is great if you have a lot of baggage. Hotel is within reasonable walking distance to Rialto - but for those less able to walk the River boat stop is close. Breakfast which was included had a good choice & was self service, apart from tea and coffee which is brought to your table. A big discovery was the Fondazione Querini Stampalia, in the Castello area, (we walked there) it has a free library (amazing) open Sundays where you can read all the foreign newspapers, entrance to the museum is 10E - excellent value as the rooms have paintings but also furniture and gives the atmosphere of a Palazzo in 18C excellent.

We are a family of 4 , ie 2 adults and a 12yr old and a 14yr old. We were all sharing one room to keep costs down, and were pleased it was quite spacious, very quiet, very close to railway station, ie 1 minute walk, close to good restaurants, right near the canal and lovely staff. Good value breakfast too. The decor was not brand new but it was authentic venetian , very clean and tranquil. Good bathroom with space to hang washing and plenty of room for our bags. Loved it! We had to climb 1 flight of stairs with our bags - but no trouble.

The location was excellent, very close to the station and in the central area of Venice. The young male receptionist was very helpful and spoke very good english. We were a party of four, two adult couples, and stayed in a quadruple room. The room was good value for the money. The main problem was carrying luggage up two narrow, steep flights of stairs (no lift).

Hotel is very near the train station so very convenient for those arriving by train. Hotel room I was given was small and quite noisy -- it faces the little alley along which the hotel is located, and there was some construction work just below my window. However, the noise was much reduced once the windows were closed. There was free Internet connection in the room and the signal strength was very good. The mattresses on the twin beds were very soft and sunken in the centre. When we requested a change of room, the lady in the reception offered a change of mattresses instead. The 'new' mattresses looked pretty much the same. We decided not to complain but bear with the situation for the 2 nights we were booked. We were travelling with another couple who had a nicer quieter room on the other side of the hotel. Their beds and mattresses were firmer and looked newer. But their aircon remote control was not given to them even though it was available at the reception counter and even though they had asked for it. An Australian couple in the room next to them managed to get the aircon remote to control the room temperature. This difference in treatment we guessed was because we're Asian Chinese. Breakfast was adequate altho we've had better spreads elsewhere.

Hotel Florida is located only a few steps from the Santa Lucia's train station, bus station and right in front of a "Vaporetto" (water bus) stop, so getting to all the main attractions in Venize as well as leaving the city is a breeze. The hotel is clean and comfortable, offers free Wi-Fi and breakfast that includes: cereal, yogurt, pastries, juice, milk, coffee and tea. The staff is cordial and happy to help. It was a great stay for the price, I will stay again at Hotel Florida.

Excellent location close to bus and train station. Good breakfast. Nice staff. Not enough hot water for all the rooms. We arrived at 10pm and there was no hot water (freezing outside). At the reception we were told that a lot of people arrived at the same time and there would be hot water again only in the morning. No elevators and the stairs were really steep.

This hotel is very very close to the Venice train station, just 2 minutes walk and you're there, it's the easiest hotel to locate among all the hotel we stayed during the 2 weeks in Italy. Restaurants are aplenty around the area, accessibility is very good as well.

Hotel was very close to train and bus, convenient. Surprisingly quiet. Room was clean and tidy, a little on the small side but adequate. Service was ok, depends on who is on duty. Unfortunately, the air-cond did not work in our room which makes it too warm and too many mosquito to sleep.

Pros 1) Extremly close to Santa lucia train station 2) Not need to take Vaporretto for hotel - Actually it could be a sort of concern for first visitor 3) Regarding overall Venice hotel price, relatively cheap price Cons 1) Old room condition 2) 2 shared bathroom for 12 rooms (The floor where I stayed had only one shared shower room and one only toilette. The floor had about 12 rooms but I'm not sure how many rooms have own bathroom inside.

Stayed 3 nights with husband, children and my own parents. We had a double room and a room for four. The double room was very spacious, but the other room was a bit of a squeeze for four. However, we only really needed a bed for the night so it was fine. Appreciated the cleanliness and the warm welcome above all.

This hotel had an excellent location near to the main train station, which made it very accessible. The room was exactly as described and perfectly acceptable for our stay. Breakfast facilities were OK, but did not seem to reflect the number of guests eg. cereal and croissants ran out and waitress seemed to be working alone. Aside from this, the hotel is a good budget hotel which met our requirements for our stay in Venice.

For me it is one of the best location, because it isn´t necessary to carry the luggage not more than 200 meters from the railway-station. I was there for more than 5 times and I always stayed in the same street. I want to show Venice to my children (10 and 13 years old).

Room was ok in size, quite good for couples. Area is excellent as it's only 2 min walk to train n bus station n only steps away from the river. Breakfast varity not too much but quantity was plentiful. For ppl who like to walk around it's easy to walk to Rialto Bridge or even to San Marco! The only downside is it didn't have elevator, n the staircase is very narrow, so ppl with heavy luggage beware! I would recommend the BnB to my friends, n would stay here again

Very convenient to the train station, however a far distance from Rialto and St. Mark's. This property felt very old and tired. Our room was concerned an 'upgrade' and was incredibly small. A heavier person would not have fit on the toilet! We had a problem with mosquitos in our room. I ended up with several bites. Breakfast was appreciated and adequate. We were permitted free internet for 30 min.

Venice is quite expensive. A room in a hotel is hard to gain lower than €80,- With this hotel we received what we had booked and it was OK for this price. Best thing is the short distance to rail station. When we arrived at midnight because of delay it was easy to find and to reach with our heavy baggage. I think most people forget at booking that at midnight all ticket offices, turist informations and public transports are closed. Than you welcome a close hotel! I was also pleased about short distance to public transports at canal de grande and equal to cheap restaurants. At this destrict "Cannaregio" you can find bars and "osterias" were lot of natives are. Price is much lower than at hot turist destricts i.e. "San Marco".

The hotel is located excellently just 1 street beside the Train Station and allows us to put our bags in our rooms before sight-seeing. The breakfast is wonderful, love the coffee yoghurt and banana yoghurt. The coffee is freshly made and delicious. The room is pretty standard but clean. As the rooms are pretty close each other, we can hear the sounds of other guests opening and clsoing the doors and talking loudly. However, it is a small issue as we got the room at a very good rate (59euro in Mar)

Family of four, stayed 2 nights at price of 400 euro, but with a 5% discount for paying cash. Price comparable to other places we stayed in Italy. Unbelievably close to train station - we almost walked past the "street", no realising how close it was! Our room was spacious for us all and at the back of the hotel, so very quiet. Fine hotel and good value for money (Venice is expensive anyway!) EXCELLENT location, very central and VERY EASY access, one minute and NO STAIRS from the vaporetto public transport boat neither from the train station(we had a baby's chair). Rooms have private safe, as well as hotel. No climatisation but a lot of shadow. No baby's cot. A pity. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast? eerr? depends... I like good food and italian bread is just bad (sorry for my italian friends), but this is not the hotel's guilt. They have coffee yogurts for breakfast: surprising and good. Next door restaurant (different owner) good but no air, so if there's a terrace, go for it. Enjoy your future stay!

Nice hotel, friendly staff, very close to train station and water bus station, close to shopping and restaurants, very nice breakfast bar (nicest we had in Europe), accustomed to larger bathrooms in USA but good for Europe. Be sure to request a private bath if you so desire when booking reservations as we did. Many European hotels have a combination of private and shared baths. A honeymoon couple at the hotel was quite upset to learn they had to share a bathroom; luckily, a room with a private bath became available and was given to them.

The location is fantastic, as it is located just a few steps from the train station. The first floor (reception) had a free Wireless Internet connection. Really liked the room, a lovely reasonable size room - very clean- with 2 double glazed doors to little balcony above a small lane with restaurants and other hotels which was very busy early morning and all day, so a bit noisy-am but quiet during the night, (a room at the back may be better if you want a quiet morning) Was easy to find- arrived quite late at night. In a great position for transport very near trains buses and waterbuses lots of reasonable restaurants-shops nearby. Suit singles, younger and older couples and families.

Hotel Florida was a good place for me to stay. After reading quite a few reviews, I wasn't expecting anything much space or luxury but was expecting that my room would be clean and central to transport with decent service. This was pretty much what I got. Hotel Florida is kind've like staying with a distant Aunty of Uncle. The rooms are smallish (well, I had a single room, so probably one of the smallest), old and spartan but clean. The service at reception was good. Some staff were more helpful than others but certainly helped me with my queries and even assisted me in charging my Italian phone service. My room was on a busy lane but if you're prepared you'll travel everywhere with an eye mask and ear plugs. Noise wasn't too bad but I imagine that during more festive times, it would be nuts. Also, rooms had wooden shutters so that was good for keeping the light out in the early morning. Hotel Florida is extremely close to Santa Lucia train station and the 2 main vaporetto lines - this was great. Also, if you follow the main drag (just up the lane) around, you can walk the whole way to Piazza San Marco. Breakfact was fine - nothing fancy. So if travel regularly on a low-ish budget and are looking for a clean room that's central to transport (a decent place to sleep, basically) then Hotel Florida will be fine for you. If you are looking for 5 star treatment - you shouldn't stay here. I enjoyed my time at Hotel Florida and got to see lots of Venezia

Very convenient for rail travellers, as hotel is very close to station and one can easily walk there with luggage. Hotel staff very helpful. By Venice standards, the price of the room, although high for the facilities offered, was reasonable. No need for an alarm clock, as the peel of bells from the neighbouring church (at 7.30 a.m. and 8.15 a.m.) means one need never miss breakfast!

Venice is expensive. Once you've accepted that fact this hotel is a good deal. We liked the location - close to the train station so we didn't need to drag our suitcases on and off boats. And central enough to take a break in midday. Close to a major water-bus station along the Grand Canal for easy trips throughout the city. Clean, quiet, air conditioned (though the nights were cool anyway in Late Aug). Good choice. The worst part would be the sound of the airconditioners outside the windows. But, then, thats pretty hard to get away from anywhere in town. But at least there's no traffic noise. Breakfast was simple and adequate. Staff friendly. Rooms clean and well maintained.

The only good thing about Florida was that it was very close to the train station and it was clean. The man and woman standing at the front desk didn't even bother to look up or greet us when we said hello to them (in English and Italian) and handed them the room key. They just look at you when you walk in the hotel and not smile or say a word. They treated us like we were bothering them. The rooms are simple. The bathrooms are tiny. There was a loud hum from some machine in the back of the hotel outside our window but fortunately it turned off during the night. We were glad we only stayed one night.

I chose this hotel for its close proximity to the train station in Venice (it's literally one block away), the price, and the fact that they offered both Internet access and air conditioning (it was August). Short of the room needing a fresh coat of paint and a good carpet cleaning, and it was quirky that the toilet and shower were in the same space, the staff were very nice, the breakfast was good, and the location was fantastic with great access to the water buses and train, as well as a lovely shopping street with lots of restaurants. I spent 3 nights there as a single woman, and always felt safe in the area. I would certainly stay here again in the future.

The big advantage of this hotel is its proximity to the railway station (it's literally two minutes' walk away). Apart from that, the hotel has little to recommend it: we found the service cool, the room dark and dingy, and the breakfast inedible.

This hotel is by far the most basic I have stayed in on my many trips to Venice. Decor is poor and pretty shabby, upstairs it feels like a hospital. The triple bedroom was large and very quiet, the beds were clean and comfortable. The en suite bathroom was tiny with a great shower. Breakfast was very unexciting, bread rolls, pre packed cheese slices (still in wrappers), no orange juice just orange cordial. Staff did speak English but did not really communicate with guests, except when paying the bill!! Close to Ferrovia water taxi and main railway station, so if you don't want to have to carry suitcases too far, the location is convenient. Would not stay again - would recommend the hassle of pulling suitcases through Venice (with children in tow), is worth it as there are much nicer places to stay in Venice.

We had a quadruple en suite with a queen and two single beds that were very comfortable. Large bathroom but sort of small shower - clean with great pressure and plenty of hot water. Air conditioner worked great. Very quiet room (#15). Hotel is extremely convenient to train station but arriving by bus you have to walk a long way over three bridges or immediately figure out water buses (only one stop if you go the correct direction). Very good location for water transportation around Venice and surrounding islands. Most hotel employees very pleasant, helpful, and spoke English well. I understand it is reasonable priced for Venice, but as Americans, it seemed expensive. However, it was perfect for our needs and I would not hesitate to stay there again.

A very nice hotel, a little hidden down an alley, but that's the way Venice is. A usual nice European breakfast, street room was a little noisy with the window open but the inside room was very quiet but looked out over roofs of neighboring buildings. You could hear the church bells on the street side and they were beautiful. Had two rooms, one for my husband and myself with a double bed and it was very clean, great bathroom and shower. Three children in their 20's had an inside room, very large, 3 single beds, large bathroom, shower no pressure. Hotel was about one block from the train station, which made it great for travel and a 10 minute walk to the bus terminal to the airport. Next to the boat terminal on the canal and a main bridge. Close to shops, restaurants and pubs. Very clean nice hotel but was on the opposite side of the main island, quite a walk to St. Mark's. I would highly recommend, used by many passengers for the cruise ships.

We have stayed here all three times we have visited Venice. The main reason we favor the Florida is it's location - within 100 meters of the train station. The staff is helpful and the rooms are clean if a bit cramped. The food offered at ristorantes along the Strada Nuova can be hit or miss but most are excellent if a bit steep in price compared to other areas of Italy. However, the ambiance more than makes up for the higher prices for room and meals.

Breakfast was slightly better than nominal. Coffee, tea, yogurt, sticky croissants, melba toast in a cramped, dim space. Location was superb - easy access to train station, water metro, restaurants, shops and sites. Quadruple room was a double bed and two rollaways - adequate. Didn't see any air cond, no fans, so be prepared if coming in warmer month than May! Windows need screens as mosquitos are plentiful.

This accomodation was over priced, but it is Venice. It was a basic room, with two single beds pushed together for a double. The saving grace was the fact that this had an en-suite bathroom and the accomodation is as close to the train station as it says it is. At night, the area is very quite. I would not necessarily stay here again as I thought it was overpriced for what it was.

The Hotel was easy to find, located next to the trainstation we didn't have to carry our luggage far. The stuff was very friendly and in the morning you always could ask for another coffee (excellent cappucino)! I've been to Venice before and the rooms in the Hotel Florida are as clean and as "big" as in Hotels which are more expensive. It was a real good time in Venice and hopefully next time they have another room for me.

We found the hotel is confortable for his proximity to railway station and for visiting the sight of Venice. It had a good price.

Yves RICOUX

The hotel is really close to the train station and it takes only 5 minutes' walk and easy to locate. Room is small but it does matter for someone who travel that will not stay at the hotel for leisure. COnvenience is most important.

Good location close to the train station. Expensive for what you get. Room could use some updating, but was fairly clean. Lobby appeared a bit dirty. Had to walk up the stairs with luggage, no elevator.

We are 4 stayed in a quadruple room no.16 with bathroom / 164 euro per night 29-30 june 2006. Price is real high for room facilities: very small, no stand up shower, drain in bath tub is clogged all the time, toilet flush system is dated 1930, very old and fragile ... but at least everything is clean and very close to the train station Santa Maria Novella (5 minutes walk). At 140 Euro per night is more reasonnable and justified . Breakfast is O.K. no more, no less !

Friendly staff who were helpful and spoke good English. Well situated near the railway and waterway. Dreadful water problems. If a nice, hot running shower is what peps you up in the morning DON'T book this hotel. Due to its position, would stay here again, regardless of showers!!

It was clean and nice enough and the price was pretty good by Venice standards, but the breakfast was lousy and the water pressure/hot water was spotty. Trying to take a shower at "peak" times results in dribbling tepid to cold water... BRR!!!
