It was by far the best hotel of this class we experienced in Italy. The surroundings are beautiful and so convenient, miriads of restaurants and cafes around and the water bus stop is only 2 min walk from the front door. The best breakfast, they even bake their own bread rolls! Reception staff is friendly and helpful, don't have one negative word to say about this hotel. Recommend!

Very nice hotel in the quiet surroundings of Lido di Venezia. We had an agreeable 3-bed room with balcony facing the main street. The service was nice and friendly. Breakfast was richer than it is normally to be expected in Italy. (Also juices, a selection of sausages and ham, cheese and jogurths were offered.) The breakfast room is however a little too small (in summer the garden will be probably used, and then there is sufficient space.) The airconditioning unit in the room did not work at all, but temperatures in October were not that high.... The hotel is situated very close to the Lido boat terminal (only a few minutes to walk and easily to find), where ferry boats of Alilaguna have a stop on there way from the airport Marco Polo to the old town. Also Venice can easily be reached by normal ACTV transport boats. (20 minutes to Piazza San Marco, which is just opposite to the Lido island.) The hotel Cristallo is a very good alternative for the over-expensive hotels of Venice itself and we felt overall very comfortable there.

A very pleasant, comfortable 3 star that sits just off the main road on the Lido. Traffic noise isn't too bad but there is some to contend with in the early morning. Spacious room, easy walking distance to vaporetto stop to Venice proper with the advantage of mellow vibe of the Lido plus more room (with ensuite) for your money than in Venice itself. Just the place if you want to keep costs down without losing standards.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Cristallo very much and will certainly come back! It is great being in the middle of the Lido-summer-beach-life and at the same time being in Venice. The landlord is very friendly and competent! Sitting in the small, but lovely "garden" and having the excellent breakfast was a wonderful start into the day. We also appreciated the "private beach" very much and the great Lido-snack nearby.

Everyone was polite, pleasant, and professional. The room was better than I had expected. While Lido isn't Venice island, it's close enough and the savings over Venice hotels is really worth it. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the waterbus stop.

It would have been nice to have an electric kettle (to boil water) as all the other hotels we stayed at in Europe (Berlin, Prague, Austria)had. The breakfast could have more of a selection as well.

We traveled with our 84-year old father to show him some important sights in Italy. For Venice we chose Cristallo on the Lido mainly because we wanted to take our rental car with us. We had a lovely stay for our two nights in Venice! The staff at the Cristallo is friendly and jovial. The owners take pride in their breakfast buffet. It is served in a spacious room with terrace. It was varied and everything was delicious. Staying at the Cristallo you can observe relaxed visitors who come for an extended vacation with the beach only minutes away by foot. We wished we could have stayed longer. The water busses are also just minutes away. We enjoyed our easy commute to San Marco, etc. We were allowed to choose our room. We had a lovely bright remodeled bathroom, the other choice had a balcony but the bathroom was dark and dreary. The hallways show that the hotel is an old building, but the elevator worked, and our room was clean and comfortable. We would recommend Cristallo B&B highly and would love to visit there again for a longer vacation.

Several good restaurants near the hotel - much less expensive than those in Venice. Great place to stay - the hotel has a beach hut about 500m from the hotel - great place to have a swim in the Adriatic and cool down after a day on the water taxis and streets of Venice.

My daughter and I shared room 12 which had a beautiful bathroom and two twin beds. We cannot overstate how lovely Lido was and how wonderful it was to stay in a place with a terrific breakfast and nice patio out back. The air conditioning was very good and the cleanliness always good. Had a small problem with the drain getting plugged but it was handled right away. Andrea, the owner, is very nice and speaks many languages. I highly recommend this hotel, particularly for families with teens. We liked the laid-back family atmosphere on Lido and the quick access to the beach was also nice even though we burn! The daily ride on the vaparetto to points of interest in Venice was a delight...we loved the open space of the lagoon and the views were great. One place we would NOT recommend on Lido is the expensive Gran Viale (sp?) restaurant. AVOID this place as it is over-priced and the food is bad. Lots of other small places to enjoy a meal nearby. Also Lido has basic amenities like a grocery store, pharmacy, and many shops just steps away from the hotel. You won't find the old world charm of Venice here but you will find great value. Buy the 3-7 day transportation passes for quick access to the vaparettos. Cheap and easy. We would definitely stay on Lido again and at the Cristallo for sure. Andrea was even able to find someone who did sme laundry for us which we really appreciated!

Our room was very clean and comfortable. We had a large, black marble bathroom with a extra long tub. The beach here was clean and they have a nice changing cabin and lounge chairs. Great for relaxing after touring Venice. They offered a large selection for breakfast. Very easy to get to the heart of Venice without having the crowds or expense.

The Hotel Cristallo is an excellent budget option for those who wish to visit Venice economically and base themselves on the Lido.It is a five minute walk to the vaporetto stop and a ten minute boat ride to San Marco. The view approaching San Marco from the Lido is one of the great experiences Venice offers. The rooms are comfortable and air-conditioned and the buffet breakfast is generous. The hotel staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. The proprietor insisted we use the hotel's private beach even after we had checked out. Highly reccommended.

This was an excellent hotel. The rooms are quite nice. The furniture was a little old but in quite good condition. Breakfast was continental and of the buffet type. Hot croissants were the highlight of the breakfast and you're given the option of either dining inside or outside. The staff was very friendly and spoke adequate English. We asked for directions to the beach and were given instructions on how to find the hotel's own private beach reserved for hotel guests only which we found to be quite impressive. Overall, this is a fantastic little hotel that we would recommend to anyone.

I am extremely happy with the stay I had at this hotel. The prices are amazing, the location is great and the people are friendly. As a female traveling alone, I felt safe and secure staying at this hotel. They answered my questions without hesitation or attitude. The location is easy accessible to and from the waterbuses. Just make a left and follow the main street and there you are! For being in such a busy location, the hotel is amazingly quiet. I would stay at this hotel without a doubt. I just might even do that in the next couple of weeks!

I stayed in a large triple/quad room at the front of the hotel, and was pleased with the comfortable bed and overall appearance of the room. The hotel is in a lovely situation, convenient, pretty, great for the beach and the vaporetto line. The staff were all friendly, and the manager particularly fluent in English and extremely helpful. Breakfast was excellent by Italian standards, lots of choice. I would definately stay here again, though might request a quiter room if they had one. It was just as well that there was air conditioning and a ceiling fan, as I would not want to have tried to get the children to sleep with the window open. There was quite a bit of street noise, as the hotel is on the main shopping and eating street. I also liked staying on the lido - slightly cheaper and definately less busy than the main part of Venice, and more family friendly. The beach was a great asset at the end of a hard day sightseeing. The hotel has use of a private beach, which is worth the extra 2 mins walk, as it is much less busy than the public beach, and clean. In summary, very pleased. The only people I would not recommend this hotel to would be people only staying for 1-2 days in Venice, as the vaporetto trip (about 40 mins to train station, less to San Marco) would eat into precious time!

We had a great time on this very charming island. At first I was worried about not booking a room in the main part of Venice, but we soon found out we made the right decision. Staff at the hotel were very friendly. Everything about it was very nice. It's only a short boat ride (public water buses!) to get to the main touristy part and it was nice to come back to Lido at the end of the day and mix with locals in the local restaurants and cafes. Highly recommended!

The hotel employees were really helpful and kind. The room was quit spacious for 2 adults and 2 children. The beds were very good. The breakfast was nice and copious. Loved this hotel - would very much recommend staying in Lido when visiting Venice. Get a boat day ticket for 15 Euros and use public transport to hop over to Venice and from place to place when you get there. Fantastic breakfast room with outside garden. Large room with big bathroom (room 22!). Only complaint would be that the water tank continuously refilled all night, which was quite loud. We were so tired from sightseeing it didn't keep us up though!

Perfect for a short stay in Venice! Located on the island of Lido you can enjoy the beach and the city. Vaporetti bring you to the city centre in 20 minutes, the beach is a 5 minute walk. The hotel staff were totally friendly and really helpfull. We got a lot of helpfull hints, like what boats to take, what restaurants to try etc. Rooms were quite small but clean. We even had a small balcony (Number 24)

The hotel is just off the main street in the Lido about 10 mins walk from the Vaporetto stop. It was easy to find and welcoming when we arrived. The room was lovely, the bathroom was clean and the beds were comfy! Breakfast was a simple buffet (bread/cheese/cereal/pastries/tea/coffee) but did the job - and when the specific pastry that we had wanted had run out, the manager offered to make some more there and then. There was a restaurant just outside the hotel with a patio area to eat in which was lovely - the food and price were good! It was a very relaxed atmosphere on the Lido, I would recommend staying there rather than Venice proper as the vaporetto run all night, so there is no worries about getting home. The boat trip each day was a very nice start to the morning. All-in-all a very nice hotel, 24hr entry which was excellent when we came bowling in at 3am!

The location was a short walk from the boat ramp on Lido, nice since we were hauling our luggage back and forth, the owner was very pleasant and greeted us at breakfast, we got there early, they let us leave our luggage. The room was great, the bed was actually the best bed I slept on while we were in Italy. The breakfast was VERY nice, normal Italian fare but the woman who was serving/cleaning was very sweet and would get you whatever you asked for, coffee, tea, etc. I would definitely stay here again

I highly recommend this hotel to those, who want to have a beautiful stay just 15 min from S.Marco but still have a privacy and enjoy a place with its own spirit and things to see - and that is both the hotel so the Lido island. The staff of the hotel was very nice and helpful, always gave us the info we actaully needed. Rooms were always cleaned up, the size was normal, but huuuge bathroom with bathtub and 2 windows. Great breakfast partly in a cute garden with rose bush. The island is very beautiful as well, quite and romantic, with its own stuff to do and see.

the good: spacious room, love the bathroom design, love the windows design, cleanliness no issue. nice quiet spot on the island, and the cheap but excellent takeaway pizza shop (Si* Pizza) just a few blocks down the road is a huge bonus! the bad: not that we need it since its cool spring weather, but we did try turning on the air-conditioning to no avail. the fat guy behind the counter during daytime has a perpetual indifferent look on his face, but was helpful when needed to be.

Great Place. Excellent location, great staff. The rooms are quite big for European standards, very close to the vaporetto station in the Lido and very easy to find. Very good breakfast, and an incredible opportunity to wake up in the morning (early! Venice has a lot to see besides san marcos and rialto!) take the vaporetto 1, and, because lido is terminus, you can easily get the front seats outside (not all boats have outside sitting, wait for one that does!). You'll see the grand canal in a magnificent way, making this "commuting" time the best part of your Venice experience. When I go back to this wonderful city I'll stay there once again, for sure!

This was one of our favorite hotels in Italy. Our host (I'm sorry, I've forgotten his name)was so helpful and kind, especially recommending places to see and eat! The Hotel Cristallo was exactly what we were looking for on our last stop of a 3 1/2 week trip. We wanted a reasonably priced room on Lido (away from the hustle and bustle) with easy access to Venice. Our other accommodations were either pensions or small (very small in some cases) apartments. It was refreshing to have a nice-sized room for a change. The room was clean, bathroom spotless. The carpet was a little shabby (needs to be replaced). Our room faced the street which I thought would be noisy but wasn't a problem for us. Staff were fine (one of the front desk clerks recommended an excellent restaurant - Andri's - which we consider to have been one of the best meals/experiences of the entire trip. Breakfast was included in price of room and included pastries, yogurt, fruit salad (out of a can) cheese (processed), slice meats, juice & coffee. Overall, we were very pleased.

The Hotel Cristallo is a true value on the Lido of Venice. Easy walking distance from the vaporetto stop, nice and helpful management, clean rooms. We had a lovely stay at the Hotel Cristallo. Without exception, all of the employees went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. If you are traveling by car, you should be aware that the garage is a few blocks away, so in order to unload your car you will need to either find a space on the street or a convenient place to doublepark. If you leave your car on the street for any length of time, you will need to figure out how to pay. We opted for the garage and the hotel employee came with us - he even offered to take the car over there for us. The only comment on the negative side is that the lighting in the room was rather poor.

I was travelling with two friends throughout Italy. The gentleman who greeted us, was wonderful - made us feel very welcome, and helped us with any questions. We had some delicious dinners, and found it easy to travel back and forth to Venice.

Very pleasant stay and would thoroughly recommend Cristallo. Large spacious rooms and especially important when travelling with children. Stayed for 2nights and staff were very knowledgeable and helpful on tourist info. After 5wks away this hotel was definately the best despite its minimal star rating. Bathrooms renovated, bright airy rooms.Great location.Complimentary breakfast nice.

We stayed at this hotel for one week in June, the hotel is as one would expect from an Italian 2 star, maybe as good as some 3 stars we have stayed in on many Italian trips. The room was adequate, the bathroom 1st class, spacious, brilliant Grohe shower, the room service was every day, clean towels etc. The reception staff were very helpful and informative, especially one chap who was very friendly and I had chats with about football,we were there Euro 2008 week,if you read, this better luck next time! The breakfast was typical continental, not as much choice as some we have stayed in. The hotel is ideally placed about half way between beach and vaporetto terminus, and Lido is an ideal place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of venice. I would certainly use this hotel again if we visited venice again, finally I would recommend buying the Venice transport card for a weeks stay as we did, we paid £115 for 2 cards and you can use on Aliguana airport transfers, vaporetto trips, buses, trains and public toilets in venice.

The hotel is 200m away from the ferry station (Lido) and easily to be reached. I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in mid June, the room is very big, bright and clean with 14" TV, air-con but it is a bit noisy in the morning as the one we stayed is facing the main street - S.M. Elisabetta. The breakfast is common for HK people. I recommend choosing a hotel on Lido as it's too crowd to stay on the main island of Venice.

This hotel is an absolute gem, right at the heart of the main street on Lido. Restaurants and ice-cream parlours are a few yards from the front door. Everyone in the hotel was very helpful, especially the people on the front desk. We couldn't have asked for more. We loved the breakfast in the garden, our spacious room, the safe and hairdryer in the room, the biggest wardrobe ever and the room's balcony. We will go back. We would recommend this to all who want a peaceful place to stay. The water-bus ride to and from Venice is a great way to start and end the day.

The hotels common areas and breakfast were top notch. The rooms are clean but dated and the AC could work a little better. This is a good value for the Venice area. It is very convenient and walkable from the water taxi. For a basic, economy hotel - it was clean and the staff was cordial and helpful.

The directions from the airport were not very specific as there are two different airports which require two different directions. They should indicate that there is an express water bus that only makes 6 stops instead of the normal 12+. If you arrive late at night, all of the restaurants close by are closed by 10:30 except for one which is a gelato, bar and has some food items. The breakfast is good but they do run out of items early on so best to get there early. Take advantage of the beach cabana as its in a great location and not a far walk from the hotel. Rooms are in need of upgrade, but the bathroom has been remodeled recently and is very clean.

We were initially worried about the trouble it would take to travel to and fro from Lido to the main island but it turned out to be unfounded. The waterbus service was very frequent and it was indeed a unique experience to be able to return to the hotel by water. Lido island itself was very comfortable to walk around with restaurants and a big supermarket. A bit less touristy than the main island but was definitely a good break from squeezing with other tourists for the whole day. The hotel itself was value for money as we got a spacious room and an even more spacious bathroom! The staff were really friendly and helpful too. Easily the most comfortable stay I've had for a while. Highly recommended!

Very nice area! Hotel was good for the price but the air conditioner only blew hot air regardless of the setting and a tiny TV, not that there was much to watch other than CNN in english. Very large bathroom though which was nice. Good location for the fact that it's out of the hustle and bustle of mainland Florence but you do need to take a water bus to the mainland which is around $14/person for a 12-hr window. Pretty nice beach right down the street too!

Great place to stay if you don't want to stay in Venice itself. Nice large room and bathroom. Very clean, great service. Breakfast was pleasant. Shops and bike rentals close by. Particularly enjoyed cycling around area and one small jewelry shop (where you could buy glass rings and gifts for all your friends and relatives). Great place for a little summer vacation.

very cheap hotel 80/night/room, quiet, good breakfast from 8 to 10, TV, heating, we loved it, perfect for a young couple that wants to eat good icecreams next to the hotel: visit Mille Voglie, maybe the best icecreams of venice and go to the beach of the Lido...

In the evening, children are playing in the court yard, but this is "normal life"....in the morning, I heard some noise, thinking it was raining hard....actually, some people took a looooong shower...no way to sleep anymore, but even though, it is a nice place worth staying at, specially if you don't want to stay in "Venice-Museum" for the night.

It was one of the nicest hotel I have stayed. Though the rooms were somewhat small but the stay was very very comfortable. The bathroom had a very large tub and the bathroom was like a giant room :) though the bedroom was small. The owners were very friendly and the hotel location in LIDO was just amazing, just next to the main street with lots of eateries and walking distance to the beach. The breakfast was ok but its the same across Europe. The lift in this hotel premises is very old so it will take twice the time in a lift than if you take the stairs. The commmon area is also smaller but you wouldnt spend much time there. The hotel is also close to the ferry point where you get good connectivity to st marks square and other parts of venice. Overall a lovely stay at this hotel.

We travelled with our adult children and found a hotel with spacious rooms, very nice people at the desk, a rich breakfast buffet - much more than usual in Venice. We have been in Venice 6 times before, the price-quality realtion was best at this hotel. If somebody does not mind stay at the Lido instead of Venice, Cristallo is an excellent choice in the middle of the Lido, 5 minutes to the boat (alltogether 20 min to San Marco), 5 minutes to the beach. Friendly atmosphere, reasoanbly calm (of coarse not absolutely because there is bus and car traffic but by no means disturbing.

It is difficult to think of anything negative to say about this hotel! The only things that were less than perfect were the lack of a lounge and the fact that the extra bed in the room was rather soft.

Spacious and clean family room (with carpets, which is great for out-of-season) and substantial breakfasts with a good variety. Excellent value! The location is superb - 5 minutes one way to the vaporetto stop for St Marks (and the alilaguna to the airport) and 8 minutes the other way to the beach - ideal for keeping adults and children happy. We hired a family bike for one morning and cycled round the Lido - great fun and not too busy.

If you are traveling to Venice book your hotel in Lido. It's a great island and your euros will go a lot farther. The Cristallo was a great place- clean comfy beds, nice bathroom with plenty of hot water, and in the morning, breakfast is included.

The Cristallo offers very good value (for Venice) with welcoming and pleasant staff, decent sized, spotlessly clean rooms and en-suite facilities. The breakfasts are more generous and with more variety than many hotels of this grade which have a tendency to be quite stingy. We enjoy staying on the Lido for the peace and quiet, after the bustle of Venice, and the superb boat ride accross the lagoon. It has the atmosphere of a small Riviera resort with several good quality and reasonably priced restaurants, like the Roxy, next door to the hotel. The Cristallo is five minutes walk from the vaporetto stop, with links to San Marco, Torcello and the airport. I would heartily reccommend the Cristallo for visiters to Venice on a buget and will almost certainly return.

We were on our honeymoon; naturally we wanted someplace quiet, yet easily accessible to other areas by foot, easy transport and within a charming environment! Truly a wonderful and memorable experience for us! We were very glad to have picked staying at Lido Island instead of the main island filled with tourists. Somehow, Lido Island reminds us a lot of Sydney’s Manly Beach! Hotel Cristallo offered us a large well-ventilated room with lots of sunlight and a great view ! Very clean! Importantly the location of the hotel and its surrounding charms made us decide to extend our stay further and cancel our planned trip to another city. This means our upcoming travel plans will have to change – we had to arrange for a flight out of Venice to our next destination and had no idea what was the best way to go about it. Especially even harder for us, since we do not speak/read Italian. One of the gentlemen (One of the 2 Andreas I believe) thoughtfully helped us in our hour of need. Without hesitation, he just went ahead to research on the best options for us. It was actually quite a feat, given the language barrier, but he was very patient -very thankful for that. Breakfast spread was nice, kitchen staff were all helpful and prompt with refilling food items. In a nutshell, for anyone who is visiting Venice for the first time, definitely worthwhile staying at Lido Island – as you get to soak in the real charm of Venice, see how Venetians live and Hotel Cristallo is a great hotel and a great price - we will definitely want to stay in this hotel again!! (Ps: Only gripe- TV was kinda small, especially when viewing from the bed)

Very good hotel for the price! I have been in nicer hotels but comparing price to product this was a great place to stay. I compared many hotels before choosing Cristallo. It was a bit cheaper to stay at this hotel (on Lido) but the cost savings is taken away due to having to pay for water taxis (31 Euro for 3 day pass per person (4)). Yet, having been to Venice before I knew I would have to get the view of it from the water (I believe a must to appreciate island fully). So, since I was going to use water taxis anyway I stayed on Lido and used the 45 Euro per night saved to see a show. From my hotel step it took us an avg of 28 minutes to get to San Marco (Almost 10 min walk to water taxi at end of street and another 12-15 mins once the water taxi leaves). I believe San Marco was the 4th stop. The room was adequate. There was four of us, so they put two twin beds in to go with full size. Full bed was comfortable and twin beds just adequate. After a full day walking I did not complain. The breakfast was very nice and FREE...it was all you can eat continental with ham. Very kind lady made the food and although quiet, she was very helpful once you asked for something. Everyone who worked the desk was helpful; one in particular (forgot name) was very helpful and spoke great english. He helped us book a show (called for prices, provided directions, and showed us link of show in internet). There was a wonderful take out pizzaria about a block past the Cristallo. Good price for pizza to go and the Cristallo provided us plates to share. One minor negative note was another eat-in pizzaria was a block before (coming from water taxis)the hotel. Was greeted OK and given seat, but waiter very slow about helping and seemed like when we ask for something we were inconveniencing him. Food was OK, but uncomfortable atmosphere. Overall enjoyed my stay...80 Euro a night with free breakfast for 4 hard to beat.

We had a triple room and it was spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was quit nice. They even allowed me to fix a breakfast tray and take it to my room for my 2 sleeping teenagers. Lido was a wonderful island with plenty of restaurants. The water taxi is rather expensive so plan accordingly. The only negative aspect was the carpet. The 3 of us sneezed continuously while in our room. I think the carpet should be removed or replaced. Other than that the room was clean.

We were very happy with Cristallo. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and accomodating; the breakfast was the best we've come across so far in Italy; the rooms were very spacious and clean; and Lido di Venezia is a very nice little island to visit. The only drawback is the price of the water buses that you need to catch to get there. However, this is also a really good way to see Venice from the water. We will definately recommend Cristallo to others.

At the Cristallo in May 2007. I paid about $150.00 US. The room was clean and large although a little dated; shutters keep out most of the noise and light but it is a great location for people watching. The bathroom was very clean and had a decent shower by european standards; the breakfast is ample and fresh with outdoor dining avaialble and you cannot beat the view of Venice from the water taxi stand. It is a short walk to the beach and at night there is a great little restaurant just down the street from the hotel that serves until 3am. The service was excellent even with our 2am arrival. I would highly recommend the hotel and would stay there again.
