The staff at Hotel Corte Contarina are lovely; very helpful and informative. The ladies serving breakfast every morning are very accommodating. Our room was palatial, the location on Via Guesseppi Garibaldi is lovely, quiet yet just a short walk from Piazza San Marco, with two vaporetto stops nearby (Arsenale is probably the most convenient). We had a lovely stay here, I would happily come back, and I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone considering a trip to Venice.

nice hotel, however I wasn't given the room offered, but a different appartment. After my claim, I was given a very nice suite.

The hotel was clean, but our room was up 88 steep steps - very hard with luggage. The manager was friendly but the bathroom was impossibly small. The breakfast room is not able to contain the guests if everyone wants to eat at the same time - it's back up the steps again and someone will ring you.Breakfast was pretty basic and tea was not on offer. The shower screen (perspex) was off it's tracks every day and was not fixed while we were there. The entrance to the hotel could do with a spruce-up - it sets the tone and it is important for guests to feel uplifted at first glance not depressed. The prices in Venice are completely over the top and the value here is just not there.

very charming Hotel and staff, ideally located for visitors of Venice Biennale - half way between Giardini and Arsenal, nice quarter along Garibaldi street with some nice restaurants.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Corte Contarina. The service was very good und the staff was very friendly and helpful! We had no problem to find the hotel and we were very pleased that it's located in a rather quiet area :-) We will recommend it to friends and colleagues and we will definitely return!

We were only able to spend one night at the hotel. We had spent the previous nights at a 5-star near St. Marks that was unable to confirm our booking for another day. Corte Contarina was a great find for our last night. The staff was helpful and friendly even by Italian standards. Since we had an early flight in the morning, they arranged to serve us breakfast at 6am. The location was a welcome change from the crowds around St Marks. It was a real neighborhood, quiet with inexpensive (by Venice standards) restaurants. It was a little hard to find. It is about a 15 minute walk from St Marks, but only two vaporetti stops - get off at Arsenale and walk about 200 yards up Ave Garibaldi, turn left at the church and left again at the first calle. One warning: there is no elevator, but the staff is more than willing to help get the bags up the stairs. The accomodations were spacious, clean and well furnished. There was a sleeping loft upstairs and a sitting room and bath on the lower level. I would definitly stay there again. (note to Venere: this site timed out before I finished and I had to re-enter everything - very annoying.

My Wife and I spent 5 nights at Corte Contarina and found the staff welcoming and very helpful. Our room was on the first floor adjacent to the breakfast area and although there was no lift the staff carried our luggage to and from our room. The continental breakfast was very adequate and tasty. Although there was a church adjacent to the hotel the bells rang for about 5 minutes around 9 a.m. and was not a distraction. The hotel is in a quiet area of the city and about 10 minutes from St. Marcs Square. If returning to Venice I would stay at Corte Contarina and would recommend it to others.

Corte Cortina is in "Castello Est", not in "Castello Ovest", i.e. further away from San Marco. A long walk at the arrival!!!

A nice place. The location proivided a local expereince and was out of the crowd's arena which was already shoulder to shoulder in early May. Hospitable staff, nice breakfast. (Make sure you get the directions fropm the hotel directly - or double check the online info. I arrived late at night because of a rail strike. On line review directions sent me in the worng direction. A friendly neighborhood resident walked me to the hotel IN THE RAIN. The internet map to the hotel was too small to read.)
