Accommodation and staff excellent, was a struggle to get suitcases up the stairs no assistance offered and the shower was small however everything else about the place made up for this. we loved having our room on the canal where the gondolas came down and we could here them singing in Italian was amazing to listen too and added totally to the atmosphere.

From an American Decorator. The hotel is beautiful with lots of custom finishes and venetian charm, unexpected at this price point. wood beam ceiling, fabric upholstered walls, custom bedding, paneled doors, etc. Even the least expensive room. I've been to Venice 4 times and this was the nicest room, even at higher price hotels.Would recommend it to older people or families. NOT single younger people who like to stay out and have fun on vacation. Hotel locks up at night and you have to ring bell to be let in. There was NEVER anyone at the front desk after 12ish. I think they are sleeping because sometimes it takes multiple rings of the bell and some time for them to come let you in. Once you're in, plan on staying in too. It's not come and go as you wish, like an American hotel. They also charge for WIFI, 10 Euro for 24 hr. Plenty of hotels offer it FREE. Also gave them a hit because of rude girl behind desk one day. When they bust out talking to themselves in Italian when they know you don't speak it, most people would assume whats being said isn't too kind. At any rate, it's very impolite to do that to a guest. All I was asking about was why my WIFI I paid 10 euro for wasn't working when I was well within the 24hour period.

This is a lovely hotel and would happily return if I ever go back to Venice. Yes, my room was on the small side, but I was expecting this as I had booked a single room. The room was very clean, as were the shared bathroom and toilet facilities. The breakfast was fairly standard, but more than adequate, and the receiption staff were friendly and helpful.

Very good location, you have EVERYTHING next to the hotel. If you want to rest after lunching time or you just want to go to the bathroom (if you want to use public bathrooms in Italy you have to pay between 0.70-1 euro per person), the hotel is always very next to any venue in Venice. The staff is very friendly and when I arrived the desk clerk offered his help to carry my luggage to my room. The only thing I missed was a kettle in the room but... I was in Italy not in England... so it was ok...it is very near Rialto bridge Vaporeto´stop. I did not enjoy a lot the breakfast but it is because I have a health condition and I have special needs. There is a "Punto" supermarket three blocks away from the hotel, which was very convenience for my pocket because I must eat fresh fruits + vegetables every day and I have to keep gluten low. This supermarket had cooked vegetables and chicken. If I come back Venice I would stay in Centauro Hotel. It is a great example of a well run family business.

This is the THIRD time I have stayed in this hotel, each time a different room. The rooms have always been spotless and with true Venezian decor. I have always found it to be great value for money, considering you are so close to Piazza San Marco. The breakfast sets you up well for the day! The staff are courteous and helpful. Look carefully at your map and you'll be at Rialto vaporetto stop in 5 minutes. Nearby there are reasonably priced restaurants and even a new supermarket! Downside not so good for those with mobility problems-quite a few stairs though there are rooms on the first floor, request one when booking.

Great hotel with an excellent location very close to Rialto vaporetto stop. A bit hard to find down an alley way though. Simple, comfortable room with clean bathroom. Nice breakfast. Staff was not the friendliest, but typical Italian so that's ok.

We unfortunately got one of the two rooms without a bathroom/shower inside the room meaning we had to go 20 yards down the hall to a clean but VERY small bathroom. This was a bit further away than I thought it would be, and my wife was not happy. A simple solution to make these rooms a bit more acceptable would be to provide bath robes that could be used when going back and forth to the bathroom, especially in the middle of the night. I am not sure why the owners have not figured this out on their own. They indicated that I was not the first one that was not happy with these rooms.

We loved the view from room no. 20!!! Wonderful! Very nice and Venice-typical furniture! Room no. 30 was very small - narrow window/noise from the heating/air-conditioning! Friendly service! We appreciated very much that you put a second bed in our big room, so that our two children could sleep on the sofa and on the bed (some booking problems).

Stayed two nights. Restaurants in area, close and good value. Close to San Marco & Realito water bus stops. Close to many interesting sites all within walking distances. We were serenaded by the gondola drivers. Safe at night Close to shopping. Breakfast was excellent and environment warm Only criticism would be the staires ( 3 rd floor) with heavy suitcases. Would return but on a lower floor.

My Husband and I have just returned from 4 nights in Venice and It was wonderful! Cannot fault this hotel at all, staff were very friendly and very helpful. We had a standard double room with ensuite and it was perfect, a/c worked fine, plenty of hanging room in wardrobe, optional safe hire. Cleaned daily. Mini fridge stocked with drinks came in very handy and prices were same as local vendors. Continental breakfast lovely and fresh each morning. Ideal location if you are looking to be near Rialto and St Marks, lots of reasonably priced restaurants in short walking distance. Would definately return to this hotel on any other trips to Venice. Breakfast by far was one of the best in Venice as we changed 3 hotels in Venice (so we know:) Rooms was a bit cramped but otherwise everything else is fine. Although there was only one common bathroom for bathing, we had no issue in bathing or going whenever we needed to.

Was a lovely hotel and staff were very friendly. Very quirky and italian in style and not really what i was expecting but pleasant enough. It is down a dark little alleyway which was slightly off putting but the hotel itself made up for it. The room was quite small really and was quite disappointed as we though we had our own bathroom and there is only one bathroom per floor which is a downside. It is also VERY small. Im a slim woman myself but struggled to use it as did my partner. It is also quite inconvenient if someone else is using it. The hotel was clean and pretty really and ideal location. Right between the rialto bridge and st mark's square. The breakfast was very lacking and not that great quality.

If you are staying here, do some homework about the location. Go to google street view to get an idea of where it is as this could save you some time. Look at it from an overhead view and you may be a bit confused. Great location, slap bang in the heart of Venice. Rialto one way, St.Marks the other. Breakfast was good, fresh and plenty of it. Room was clean, bathroom was as you would expect. Good aircon. Friendly staff. 5 Euros for 10 hours internet. Bed was large and comfortable Some bad points, third floor no lift, and with luggage its a struggle. You have to insert a key to power the room, so nice having a fridge, but it only works when you are in the room.

The hotel location is superb. It's easy to find and easy access to all the tour sites. Breakfast is good, and the room is old fashion(antique) but clean without doubt. The only disadvantage is it's only offering 1 hour free wifi access, which makes travelers inconvenient for travel searching or business.

For the price, it is an excellent option compared to other hotels and hostels in Venice. Great location, friendly staff, great breakfast. I guess the only pitfalls were that you could everyone leave in the morning through the walls and one night a friend escorted me back to my room, but the night watchman wouldnt all him through - very rude!

Venice is a strange place and hotels close to the major sites are old and expensive. While this was not the best hotel we stayed in during our trip, it was a very good choice for Venice. The price was reasonable, the room was fine for our one night, the breakfast was typical Italian breakfast. We did have to climb down a little step ladder to get into our room. It was stuffy, but opening the window would let in the mosquitoes. There was one bathroom on our floor. We never ran into anyone else using it, so that was fine. The best advantage to this hotel is the location, fairly central to the Rialto Bridge, San Marco Square and other sites. There is not an elevator. We were able to carry our own bags, so I am not sure if there was help available for luggage. We got to the hotel too early to check in, so they let us store our bags.

Great location only 500 metres to St Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge and Grand Canal. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. Room was beautifully furnished, and we were serenaded most days by attendants on the gondolas which floated past our hotel window. There is also a porter service for your bags (with a private company) from your drop off point to the hotel and vice versa if need be - the hotel can organise this, and cost around 20 euro one-way depending on the amount of baggage. Lovely breakfast each morning - the breakfast room is beautiful, overlooking a canal. Stairs, no lift.

Hotel is in an excellent location to all amenities. I stayed in one of the single rooms which I found to be a bit out of the way tucked down a corridor by the cleaning supply room. Room was efficient for all requirements, the hairdryer was a little antiquated though. I think for Venice, the hotel provides a good service at a good price. The staff are wonderful and make you feel most welcome. The breakfast was good and filling. Cellphone coverage in my room was non-existent, however having wifi 10 hours for 5 Euro's was good.

You never know what to find when never been there before, but this hotel is a hidden gem! In this very narrow passage out of Campo Manin (the square in honor of the last Doge of Venice)Turid and I found a very hostile and friendly staff, a cosy and clean superior double room, a delicate breakfast, and "wake-up calls" from the gondoliers singing arias at the canal passing by the hotel! And, highly recommended, visit the enoteca Al Volto in calle Cavalli close by!

Superb position for walking to all the major sites of interest in Venice. Short wak to the Grand Canal so transfers between plane, bus, vaporetto and hotel were easy. Hotel breakfast was excellent, varied, plentiful and excellent quality. Slight down side was the room. We chose a double with a shared bathroom; it was just about OK for our 3 day short break. The problem was with the size of the room and shower room/ toilet - they were both tiny. Larger folk would have had serious difficulty in using them. Would reccommend the hotel but would definately have an on suite next time. There is no lift which may disadvantage some guests.

The hotel centauro is quite difficult to find like everything else can be in Venice if youre not paying attention, It is though perfectly situated for getting around venice. The staff were very helpful and treated us fantastically throughout. The breakfast is typically basic continental but more than suitable provided you like that sort of think. Hotel is very clean and warm and we had a canal view but the window sills are very big and the canal quite small so on the 2nd floor its hard to see, however who really cares as Venice is full of beautiful sites. I would recommend anyone to stay here.

Great hotel with convenient location near Rialto bridge & Piazza San Marco. My nicely decorated Venetian-style room was upgraded to single room w/ private instead of shared bathroom due to over-bookings! Extremely friendly and welcoming staff who are very willing and eager to help give directions and answer your questions. Delicious breakfast in beautiful dining area. Only downside was that the free tour to Murano was not offered since it is currently a low-season. Overall, I received more than I could have bargained for at the rate I paid during my stay; a perfect hotel for single (and all other) travelers~ I will absolutely recommend it to anybody looking for the perfect place to stay in Venice!

I stayed together with my wife there for 3 nights this week and we have enjoyed the hotel. Having booked the room about six weeks before at special offer price we consider it very good from price performance view - very good location in the middle of Venice (5-10 min walk almost to every place), very helpful and kind hotel staff, clean and good room with ~5m high ceiling, very adequate breakfast for an italian hotel (not just a slice of bread with jam). If you arrive by plane and choose the vaporetto boat to get to the hotel I would suggest instead of the directions on hotel website to choose "linea arancio" and step out at the Rialto and not - St.Marco - from there it would be easier to find it than from St.Marco side and less bridges to cross carrying your travel bags (first - in ~3 minutes you get to "Campo Manin" place, then look for the sign "Hotel Centauro" with a direction arrow on one of the houses wall besides a narrow street, and after some 20 steps you are there).

Hotel Centauro is in a fantastic location, between Piazza San Marco and the Rialto bridge. We enjoyed our stay there.

The Centauro is in a perfect location for exploring Venice - near the Rialto, Piazza San Marco and Ponte dell'Accademia. My room was a little dark due to its location on the bottom floors but was very quiet and comfortable for a single room. The breakfast room is beautiful at this hotel with a balcony that looks over a small canal. Upon arrival in Venice - it was easier to access the hotel from the Rialto stop on the vaporetto system (or airport water bus). The Rialto stop is also a good point of reference when trying to find your way back to the hotel amongst all the walkways.

King bed in picture was 2 twins pushed together with large gap between. Tiny rooms which in picture looked spacious (shot from in shower?). Showed late for breakfast one morning with door open, people eating and food still out. Was chased out and chastised in Italian. Sad part is they threw away the coffee, bread, etc. afterward.

Overall it was a nice place to stay. The breakfest room and the breakfest itself is good. Although the prices seamed a little hight. But it's Venice!!

Mature couple; We arrived late in Venice and whilst we found the square detailed in the address we could not find the Hotel which is down a small alley on the left side of the square when facing the bridge. When we arrived we were greeted by a george Clooney look-a-like who seemed to be totally ambivilent to our arrival. We were placed in room 34 right at the top of the hotel. A tip for guests - there is no lift and there is no offer of help with bags. The stairs were exhausting! that said the hotel's location is excelent to all main attractions and is very reasonably priced. (By the way George Clooney (look-a-like) recomended a restaurant first night which was over-priced and pretntious - beware!)

A fantastic base to stay in Venice. A friendly local helped us find it, but nothing is easy to find in Venice...Clean, comfortable, plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 children with luggage. Breakfast was a great inclusion and the price was excellent! Could not be happier with our choice! Top hotel and helpful staff! Carrying luggage up and down stairs not easy, but was under no illusion that there would be a lift in this city. No complaints!!

The room was very small - listed as a quadruple deluxe but was really a double or triple with a cot thrown in. This left little room to walk or put suitcases. Bathroom very small. A/C did not work very well. Location was great. Breakfast was OK. Our room only faced a narrow outside street. Also stayed at Allogi alla Scalla which was at nearly the same location. Room was much larger, A/C worked well, price cheaper but no breakfast.

For 90€ per night including breakfast, you don't have to hesitate to book a room in this hotel : people are very welcoming and strong professionals speaking several languages. The location is perfect half way between Saint Mark's Square (San Marco piazza) and Rialto bridge : in the heart of Venice !

Location was great - just 300-400 metres from Rialto and San Marco Square. Maps provided by Venere and Hotel Centauro made transitting to and finding the hotel very easy. Our room was excellent - exceeding our expectations with a wonderful view of the canal and the regular parade of gondolas below our window. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel!

Nice hotel right in the center. Close to both Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco. Also just steps away from a lesser-known architectural jewel, Palazzo Contrarini dal Bovalo. The rooms are very small, though, although adequate for slim people. The breakfast room is very beautiful and the breakfast is a very good continental breakfast. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Stayed 2 nights, no elevator or help to carry luggages, room very small, they had left the windows open and A/C off, extremely hot when we arrived, unbearable condition. Took 2-3 hours to make the room cool. Staff knew that the room was not adequate and upon checking they told us that we would have a different room on the second night. I would not recommend this hotel, hardly one star not three.

My wife & I stayed only one night in Venice before moving on to Verona but the hotel room was very average. Gloomy & drab although clean. One night was enough but at least the location was good.

Family of four adults stayed for two days. Good accomodations considering price v. quality for Venice. I would return to this hotel. Directions place the hotel in a plaza, but it is really down a walking lane off the plaza.

This was the smallest room I have ever had. The bed and desk literally would not fit next to each other. However, nobody goes to Venice to stay in the room - and the surroundings were great. The price I was quoted made it all worth it - just 70 euro in an internet special. If you go here, make sure you ask for a canal-view room b/c they are slightly bigger and nicer. No elevator, so be ready to hoof it. The breakfast was free but extremely plain. Great location to launch out for a day in Venice. Perfect for single travellers or couples.

I've done a lot of travelling over the years and this hotel is the worst I've ever stayed in!!!! The room was so small I could not fully open my suitcase and the shower was so small I could not even bend over to wash my feet. And the final straw were the insects (?) - by the time I left the hotel I was covered with insect bites from head to toe!!!!!!!!!! Ughhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!
