Location is excellent, very convenient for walking and vaporetto, and just far enough from Rialto and San Marco to feel relaxed, while still very walkable. Bathroom in fairly spacious but shabby deluxe room was tiny and unattractive by standards of other hotels of this level I have stayed at in Italy. Hallways were also slight worn and somehow not appealing. Location is what sells this hotel; its price is considerably higher than the reality of staying there would merit--again, except for the location.

Not good for people who have trouble climbing stairs no lift- And the showers are small so anyone that is plus size or over 180 lbs going to have trouble. Great location- near the major sites . Not bad hotel only the stairs and shower Only the problem . Nice staff I had no problem finding the hotel - campo Manin. Find a very narrow ally go down it . It is hard to see . Ciao

The best value hotel I've stayed at in Europe. The room is compact but very comfortable and even has a beer fridge. For the first time I tried staying in a single bedroom with a shared bathroom, it was brilliant. There was a sink in the bedroom and in fact I was the only one using that shower for my entire stay. I would definitely stay here again. The only comment would be that towels could be a little bigger and it would be good if the power to the beer fridge stayed on even when the key is not plugged in.

A piece of jewellery in the hearth of Venice! What a fantastic stay at Centauro Hotel, I would highly recommend this hotel and all his staff, and especially Riccardo & Alessandro. Upon arrival in Venice I call the Hotel to ask the directions on how to reach the Hotel, and in that particular moment, the best customer service experience start. I never felt so welcome in a Hotel before, Riccardo has been provided the most fantastic hidden treasure to do in Venice, something like the best secrects to experience, while Alessandro has provide has with the particularly directions and information with patience. The Hotel seems hidden but the precious gem will surprise you, is like a Venician Palace, with mosaics in each floor, unfortunately no lift so if you have a mobility issue perhaps ask for rooms in the first floor. I had the opportunity to experience a Standard Room and a room with the Terrace, honestly there are no different! I am a sort o control freak, the hotel rooms are very clean, and very well maintained, with a classic Venetian deco that will be enchanting you, very high ceiling and wooden beams, which I personally love. On top a complementary unexpected Wi-Fi and best to come was the breakfast which it was not as expected I personally though was a boring “continental” instead was cured with details with fresh croissants, cold meats, cheese, yogurts and selection of breads, cereal etc, unbelievable, all surrounded in a beautiful breakfast room with a balcony in the canal; I love it! Would I go there again? I definitely will, I felt in love with Venice and this Hotel inspire me to go back there again for a relaxing weekend in Venice.

Hotel Centauro is in a quiet yet very convenient location, 3 minutes from the Rialto and 5 minutes to St. Mark's Square. We enjoyed the room's beautiful Venetian decor and soaring beamed ceilings. While the staff were not as attentive as some of our other Italian stops on this trip, they were helpful and pleasant. This hotel oozes history and I would definitely recommend it to those seeking a Venetian experience.

A very pleasant stay at Hotel Centauro. On February 2014 we arrived at Hotel Centauro at 5.55 PM and we urgent need a dentist. The staff of Hotel Centauro start to telephone and after ten minutes they found a dentist who was willing to wait for us after his practice hours and we could come immediately. Under escort from the lovely Elena we walked 15 minutes through the little dark streets of Venice and yes, the dentist fixed the problem in half an hour! Elena translated for us and waited the whole time and after that she shows us the way back to Hotel Centauro (Super!). Hotel Centauro is a very nice hotel, our room (10) had damast wall paper. Breakfast had a choice for everyone and when you stand on the balcony of the breakfast-room, you hear the gondoliers singing when they pass through the canal under the balcony. We stayed 4 nights and were very happy with the service from the staff and also the service from the Lady from the Breakfast-room. The location is perfect, ten minutes easy walking from San Marco, Rialto and Academia and when you takes the private watertaxi from Marco Polo airport to the city (www.Venicelink.com) they bring you direct to Campo Manin, 20 meters from Hotel Centauro. We have been many times in Venice and this hotel is in our opinion the best option near all the places of interest. We have already made a new reservation for august 2014.

We travelled to venice in January 2014 with our 8 year old. Hotel centauro was fairly easy to find although I had to call them for directions for the last fifty yards! However they directed me right there and were very friendly and helpful! The hotel is just as described. It was very reasonably priced. Free wifi and breakfast was good. Lots of choice, mostly cold options but well laid out and Plenty of it regardless of what time you arrived! The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly! The room was a triple and overlooking the canal so very picturesque! And actually a good size for Europe! (You could swing a cat in it if you needed to, not that I advocate such behaviour!) The ensuite was nice and the shower very welcome after a cold day in the wet sightseeing! The location was fantastic! Overall it was a lovely place to stay at a very reasonable price and I would recommend it! The staff were all nice and the little dog that lives there is very friendly and loves a good scratch!

The hotel was really nice, staff friendly. The location of the hotel simply excellent between Rialto and San Marco. My room was very small with the view on the wall of the building opposite, but I did not care. For this prize in this location there was really nothing to complain about. The other guests I only saw during breakfast: mostly couples but also families with children. I strongly recommend Hotel Centaurio.

we have stayed at the hotel for 3 nights(the previous 3 nights we spent at Anteneo Hotel). the location and rooms are very good, in the centre, 5 minutes walking from San Marco square and 3 minutes to Realto vaporetto stop from where(Realto) it's very convenient to get to the piazzale de Rome, the stop of the airport buses. the hotel and rooms are very nicely decorated. we booked the superior room with the terrace but when we saw the room we found out the construction, so we asked to change the room for another one. we were proposed the room with the canal view that was even better as for me -it was larger and more nice, but the best was the view to the canal with floating gondolas. as it was the last ground(no lift if somebody's interested in this) we enjoyed the roofs of the building before together wit a singing of musicians in gondolas beneath. the breakfast was good, the stuff is absolutely good. the only two negative points for me were the coldness in the rooms as the heating worked on the system "turned on/off", especially at nights and the most uncomfortable double bed in my life)

The Centauro Hotel is extremely well located & for that alone, it can be well recommended. All about the hotel is very clean. Breakfast is also very good. A 7 is given for the spaciousness of the room because there is simply a small table, 1 chair & 2 very tiny bedside shelves. There is no elevator. Alessandro, at the Front Desk, is a definite asset to the hotel's staff. His English is excellent & he is most helpful! We have been to Venice 8 times & have found this hotel to be the very best! Restaurant Enoteca, quite nearby, is superb...limited menu & all done to perfection!

First, hotel location on map is misleading for a person who doesn't know the city. The pictures gives wrong impression about the location. It shows that it is close to water and this picture is somewhere in the back of the hotel where you will never see unless you are lucky. Second, staff are extremely unhelpful and unfriendly, even when you return the key, they just talk to you without even looking at you and ask you to leave there and they will take it. What was worse is that they don't even have someone to carry the bags, the don't have a left and after 12 hours flight, I had to carry all our bags to the third floor. I booked a room with balcony to have a nice view and my only view was the bathroom of the neighbors. This Hotel is THE WORST I have seen and I never recommend it.

I am pleased with my choice of Centauro to stay in Venice. Before I left on my journey, I asked for directions from Marco Polo Airport, & received excellent & clear directions from Rialto Alilaguna stop. On arrival, I was greeted warmly by the young man at reception who also suggested La Felucca as a favorite nearby restaurant. It was close by and superb. I truly enjoyed my stay.

Small room, small bathroom, poor lighting, no view as window opened to nothing??. No terrance to sit out on. Breakfast room was very good with large windows and a canal view balcony. The service for breakfast and the food was great. No wine glasses were available in our room & the fridge barely kept anything cold. Using the breakfast room as a guest lounge, even if only in the after noon would greatly improve the ambiance in this character older hotel. Great quiet location just out of the tourist zone.

From an American Decorator. The hotel is beautiful with lots of custom finishes and venetian charm, unexpected at this price point. wood beam ceiling, fabric upholstered walls, custom bedding, paneled doors, etc. Even the least expensive room. I've been to Venice 4 times and this was the nicest room, even at higher price hotels.Would recommend it to older people or families. NOT single younger people who like to stay out and have fun on vacation. Hotel locks up at night and you have to ring bell to be let in. There was NEVER anyone at the front desk after 12ish. I think they are sleeping because sometimes it takes multiple rings of the bell and some time for them to come let you in. Once you're in, plan on staying in too. It's not come and go as you wish, like an American hotel. They also charge for WIFI, 10 Euro for 24 hr. Plenty of hotels offer it FREE. Also gave them a hit because of rude girl behind desk one day. When they bust out talking to themselves in Italian when they know you don't speak it, most people would assume whats being said isn't too kind. At any rate, it's very impolite to do that to a guest. All I was asking about was why my WIFI I paid 10 euro for wasn't working when I was well within the 24hour period.

Very good location, you have EVERYTHING next to the hotel. If you want to rest after lunching time or you just want to go to the bathroom (if you want to use public bathrooms in Italy you have to pay between 0.70-1 euro per person), the hotel is always very next to any venue in Venice. The staff is very friendly and when I arrived the desk clerk offered his help to carry my luggage to my room. The only thing I missed was a kettle in the room but... I was in Italy not in England... so it was ok...it is very near Rialto bridge Vaporeto´stop. I did not enjoy a lot the breakfast but it is because I have a health condition and I have special needs. There is a "Punto" supermarket three blocks away from the hotel, which was very convenience for my pocket because I must eat fresh fruits + vegetables every day and I have to keep gluten low. This supermarket had cooked vegetables and chicken. If I come back Venice I would stay in Centauro Hotel. It is a great example of a well run family business.

I have always found it to be great value for money, considering you are so close to Piazza San Marco. The breakfast sets you up well for the day! The staff are courteous and helpful. Look carefully at your map and you'll be at Rialto vaporetto stop in 5 minutes. Nearby there are reasonably priced restaurants and even a new supermarket! We unfortunately got one of the two rooms without a bathroom/shower inside the room meaning we had to go 20 yards down the hall to a clean but VERY small bathroom. This was a bit further away than I thought it would be, and my wife was not happy. A simple solution to make these rooms a bit more acceptable would be to provide bath robes that could be used when going back and forth to the bathroom, especially in the middle of the night. I am not sure why the owners have not figured this out on their own. They indicated that I was not the first one that was not happy with these rooms.

We had a standard double room with ensuite and it was perfect, a/c worked fine, plenty of hanging room in wardrobe, optional safe hire. Cleaned daily. Mini fridge stocked with drinks came in very handy and prices were same as local vendors. Continental breakfast lovely and fresh each morning. Was a lovely hotel and staff were very friendly. Very quirky and italian in style and not really what i was expecting but pleasant enough. It is down a dark little alleyway which was slightly off putting but the hotel itself made up for it. The room was quite small really and was quite disappointed as we though we had our own bathroom and there is only one bathroom per floor which is a downside. It is also VERY small. Im a slim woman myself but struggled to use it as did my partner. It is also quite inconvenient if someone else is using it. The hotel was clean and pretty really and ideal location. Right between the rialto bridge and st mark's square. The breakfast was very lacking and not that great quality.

If you are staying here, do some homework about the location. Go to google street view to get an idea of where it is as this could save you some time. Look at it from an overhead view and you may be a bit confused. Great location, slap bang in the heart of Venice. Rialto one way, St.Marks the other. Breakfast was good, fresh and plenty of it. Room was clean, bathroom was as you would expect. Good aircon. Friendly staff. 5 Euros for 10 hours internet. Bed was large and comfortable Some bad points, third floor no lift, and with luggage its a struggle. You have to insert a key to power the room, so nice having a fridge, but it only works when you are in the room.

For the price, it is an excellent option compared to other hotels and hostels in Venice. Great location, friendly staff, great breakfast. I guess the only pitfalls were that you could everyone leave in the morning through the walls and one night a friend escorted me back to my room, but the night watchman wouldnt all him through - very rude!

I would def recommend it, clean and good value for money close to the Vatican, walking distance, pity the locals are not very polite but we managed.

This hotel was very difficult to find. The staff was not very helpful. The room was very small but was advertised as a 'superior' single room. The breakfast was very good and the breakfast room was bright and welcoming.

Venice is a strange place and hotels close to the major sites are old and expensive. While this was not the best hotel we stayed in during our trip, it was a very good choice for Venice. The price was reasonable, the room was fine for our one night, the breakfast was typical Italian breakfast. We did have to climb down a little step ladder to get into our room. It was stuffy, but opening the window would let in the mosquitoes. There was one bathroom on our floor. We never ran into anyone else using it, so that was fine. The best advantage to this hotel is the location, fairly central to the Rialto Bridge, San Marco Square and other sites. There is not an elevator. We were able to carry our own bags, so I am not sure if there was help available for luggage. We got to the hotel too early to check in, so they let us store our bags.

The room was very small. Much smaller than I expected and the shower is tiny. A big person would not be able to bathe. The breakfast was great. No elevator, just to caution those who do need one.

Hotel is very difficult to find. Once you found the hotel, it is centrally located and easy to get to San Marco and Rialto. Some staff are helpful and there are few who are not. Breakfast was good enough.

Our room was very small but charming. We were put off by the very long distance to the external bathroom. I've often stayed in rooms with an external bathroom - but never one separated by ten rooms. Quite a walk down the hall in a towel or in the middle of the night!

Location is excellent, just close to the touristic centre of Venice. Breakfast is good, you have a selection of different food. You should get a room with canal view (only the rooms no.21, 22, 31, 32). Herre you get realo "Venice feeling".

Great location only 500 metres to St Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge and Grand Canal. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. Room was beautifully furnished, and we were serenaded most days by attendants on the gondolas which floated past our hotel window. There is also a porter service for your bags (with a private company) from your drop off point to the hotel and vice versa if need be - the hotel can organise this, and cost around 20 euro one-way depending on the amount of baggage. Lovely breakfast each morning - the breakfast room is beautiful, overlooking a canal. Stairs, no lift.

Hotel is in an excellent location to all amenities. I stayed in one of the single rooms which I found to be a bit out of the way tucked down a corridor by the cleaning supply room. Room was efficient for all requirements, the hairdryer was a little antiquated though. I think for Venice, the hotel provides a good service at a good price. The staff are wonderful and make you feel most welcome. The breakfast was good and filling. Cellphone coverage in my room was non-existent, however having wifi 10 hours for 5 Euro's was good.

You never know what to find when never been there before, but this hotel is a hidden gem! In this very narrow passage out of Campo Manin (the square in honor of the last Doge of Venice)Turid and I found a very hostile and friendly staff, a cosy and clean superior double room, a delicate breakfast, and "wake-up calls" from the gondoliers singing arias at the canal passing by the hotel! And, highly recommended, visit the enoteca Al Volto in calle Cavalli close by!

We had a great time at Hotel Centauro. The room that we were given was exactly the same one I saw on the photo, very impressive. Breakfast was good, warm criossants, cheese, different kinds of cold cuts, eggs and yogurts, all you can eat. Staff were very friendly. The direction for how to get to the hotel was very precise and accurate. We enjoyed our stay there.

Superb position for walking to all the major sites of interest in Venice. Short wak to the Grand Canal so transfers between plane, bus, vaporetto and hotel were easy. Hotel breakfast was excellent, varied, plentiful and excellent quality. Slight down side was the room. We chose a double with a shared bathroom; it was just about OK for our 3 day short break. The problem was with the size of the room and shower room/ toilet - they were both tiny. Larger folk would have had serious difficulty in using them. Would reccommend the hotel but would definately have an on suite next time. There is no lift which may disadvantage some guests.

The hotel centauro is quite difficult to find like everything else can be in Venice if youre not paying attention, It is though perfectly situated for getting around venice. The staff were very helpful and treated us fantastically throughout. The breakfast is typically basic continental but more than suitable provided you like that sort of think. Hotel is very clean and warm and we had a canal view but the window sills are very big and the canal quite small so on the 2nd floor its hard to see, however who really cares as Venice is full of beautiful sites. I would recommend anyone to stay here.

The location should be explained clarly. The hotel is not on Campo Manin itself, but in a narrow street on the left of Veneto Banco. There is a very small sign with an arrow on the front of bank, but at night it is not visible.

Great hotel with convenient location near Rialto bridge & Piazza San Marco. My nicely decorated Venetian-style room was upgraded to single room w/ private instead of shared bathroom due to over-bookings! Extremely friendly and welcoming staff who are very willing and eager to help give directions and answer your questions. Delicious breakfast in beautiful dining area. Only downside was that the free tour to Murano was not offered since it is currently a low-season. Overall, I received more than I could have bargained for at the rate I paid during my stay; a perfect hotel for single (and all other) travelers~ I will absolutely recommend it to anybody looking for the perfect place to stay in Venice!

We had heard how expensive Venice was, so imagine our surprise and delight to be welcomed into this wonderful and charmingly baroque style room, but with a modern bath!! Great breakfast room, and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay immensely!! I am recommending this room to Rick Steves! This hotel is also only a 5 minute walk to San Marco square, museums, and great shopping and restaurants.

I stayed together with my wife there for 3 nights this week and we have enjoyed the hotel. Having booked the room about six weeks before at special offer price we consider it very good from price performance view - very good location in the middle of Venice (5-10 min walk almost to every place), very helpful and kind hotel staff, clean and good room with ~5m high ceiling, very adequate breakfast for an italian hotel (not just a slice of bread with jam). If you arrive by plane and choose the vaporetto boat to get to the hotel I would suggest instead of the directions on hotel website to choose "linea arancio" and step out at the Rialto and not - St.Marco - from there it would be easier to find it than from St.Marco side and less bridges to cross carrying your travel bags (first - in ~3 minutes you get to "Campo Manin" place, then look for the sign "Hotel Centauro" with a direction arrow on one of the houses wall besides a narrow street, and after some 20 steps you are there).

aside from the decoration style ( old venice style) , everything is brand new (bathroom, A/C, TV), super quiet, super clean, breakfast buffet great served in a magnificent wide , clean, sunny palazzio's room. Goodwill value for money! Excellent location. It was wonderful to have our own terrace, which made up for that the room was small. I will return! Watch out though if you have problems with stairs. The Rialto vaporetto stop is close, and its easy to find the hotel. Just go to Campo Manin and walk into the small alley between the modern bank and a gift shop.
