The location should be explained clarly. The hotel is not on Campo Manin itself, but in a narrow street on the left of Veneto Banco. There is a very small sign with an arrow on the front of bank, but at night it is not visible.

Great hotel with convenient location near Rialto bridge & Piazza San Marco. My nicely decorated Venetian-style room was upgraded to single room w/ private instead of shared bathroom due to over-bookings! Extremely friendly and welcoming staff who are very willing and eager to help give directions and answer your questions. Delicious breakfast in beautiful dining area. Only downside was that the free tour to Murano was not offered since it is currently a low-season. Overall, I received more than I could have bargained for at the rate I paid during my stay; a perfect hotel for single (and all other) travelers~ I will absolutely recommend it to anybody looking for the perfect place to stay in Venice!

We had heard how expensive Venice was, so imagine our surprise and delight to be welcomed into this wonderful and charmingly baroque style room, but with a modern bath!! Great breakfast room, and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay immensely!! I am recommending this room to Rick Steves! This hotel is also only a 5 minute walk to San Marco square, museums, and great shopping and restaurants.

The Centauro's location is excellent in Venezia. It's located neaer Rialto, no more than 500 meters. This was my first time in Centauro Hotel. The only problem was the size of the room, it was too small

I stayed together with my wife there for 3 nights this week and we have enjoyed the hotel. Having booked the room about six weeks before at special offer price we consider it very good from price performance view - very good location in the middle of Venice (5-10 min walk almost to every place), very helpful and kind hotel staff, clean and good room with ~5m high ceiling, very adequate breakfast for an italian hotel (not just a slice of bread with jam). If you arrive by plane and choose the vaporetto boat to get to the hotel I would suggest instead of the directions on hotel website to choose "linea arancio" and step out at the Rialto and not - St.Marco - from there it would be easier to find it than from St.Marco side and less bridges to cross carrying your travel bags (first - in ~3 minutes you get to "Campo Manin" place, then look for the sign "Hotel Centauro" with a direction arrow on one of the houses wall besides a narrow street, and after some 20 steps you are there).

Aside from the decoration style ( old venice style) , everything is brand new (bathroom, A/C, TV), super quiet, super clean, breakfast buffet great served in a magnificent wide , clean, sunny palazzio's room. For this location in Venice, a good address.Single room was super small, but that's the average in Venice.

Goodwill value for money! Excellent location. It was wonderful to have our own terrace, which made up for that the room was small. I will return! Watch out though if you have problems with stairs. The Rialto vaporetto stop is close, and its easy to find the hotel. Just go to Campo Manin and walk into the small alley between the modern bank and a gift shop.

We only stayed the one night - the hotel was in an excellent location in Venice. Close enough to walk to everything easily, but you didn't feel like you were in the main touristy part. The staff were extremly happy and welcoming, and the service was great. Loved that our room had a lounge as well, and there was plenty of space. Excellent value!!

Very uncomfortable hotel. No elevator, many stairs, very difficult to get tO your room carrying your luggage . TV very high, very small bathroom (you could hardly move on the shower ) and the water was oscilating between hot and cold and it was really nice to get out of it!. On the other side, nice breakfast room and breakfast good. The location is also very good, central but quiet. If you are not very young and in good condition you shoulden.t go to this hotel.

Loved it! First time in Venice, we came late at night, but we did find the hotel quite fast. The hotel was very cute, the staff is not so friendly as we expected. The guy didn't wanted to give us a guided tour to Murano for some reasons, so we went by ourselves. We had room with the canal view, it was noisy, but so Venecian style:) Super:) The breakfast was fine, and the eating area was lovely. We did enjoyed every minute in the hotel and Venice. We would recommend this hotel because of great location and lovely Venecian style interior.

The Centauro is in a perfect location for exploring Venice - near the Rialto, Piazza San Marco and Ponte dell'Accademia. My room was a little dark due to its location on the bottom floors but was very quiet and comfortable for a single room. The breakfast room is beautiful at this hotel with a balcony that looks over a small canal. Upon arrival in Venice - it was easier to access the hotel from the Rialto stop on the vaporetto system (or airport water bus). The Rialto stop is also a good point of reference when trying to find your way back to the hotel amongst all the walkways.

King bed in picture was 2 twins pushed together with large gap between. Tiny rooms which in picture looked spacious (shot from in shower?). Showed late for breakfast one morning with door open, people eating and food still out. Was chased out and chastised in Italian. Sad part is they threw away the coffee, bread, etc. afterward.

Mature couple; We arrived late in Venice and whilst we found the square detailed in the address we could not find the Hotel which is down a small alley on the left side of the square when facing the bridge. When we arrived we were greeted by a george Clooney look-a-like who seemed to be totally ambivilent to our arrival. We were placed in room 34 right at the top of the hotel. A tip for guests - there is no lift and there is no offer of help with bags. The stairs were exhausting! that said the hotel's location is excelent to all main attractions and is very reasonably priced. (By the way George Clooney (look-a-like) recomended a restaurant first night which was over-priced and pretntious - beware!)

A fantastic base to stay in Venice. A friendly local helped us find it, but nothing is easy to find in Venice...Clean, comfortable, plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 children with luggage. Breakfast was a great inclusion and the price was excellent! Could not be happier with our choice! Top hotel and helpful staff! Carrying luggage up and down stairs not easy, but was under no illusion that there would be a lift in this city. No complaints!!

The room was very small - listed as a quadruple deluxe but was really a double or triple with a cot thrown in. This left little room to walk or put suitcases. Bathroom very small. A/C did not work very well. Location was great. Breakfast was OK. Our room only faced a narrow outside street. Also stayed at Allogi alla Scalla which was at nearly the same location. Room was much larger, A/C worked well, price cheaper but no breakfast.

Location was great - just 300-400 metres from Rialto and San Marco Square. Maps provided by Venere and Hotel Centauro made transitting to and finding the hotel very easy. Nice hotel right in the center. Close to both Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco. Also just steps away from a lesser-known architectural jewel, Palazzo Contrarini dal Bovalo. Stayed 2 nights, no elevator or help to carry luggages, room very small, they had left the windows open and A/C off, extremely hot when we arrived, unbearable condition. Took 2-3 hours to make the room cool. Staff knew that the room was not adequate and upon checking they told us that we would have a different room on the second night. I would not recommend this hotel, hardly one star not three.

This was the smallest room I have ever had. The bed and desk literally would not fit next to each other. However, nobody goes to Venice to stay in the room - and the surroundings were great. The price I was quoted made it all worth it - just 70 euro in an internet special. If you go here, make sure you ask for a canal-view room b/c they are slightly bigger and nicer. No elevator, so be ready to hoof it. The breakfast was free but extremely plain. Great location to launch out for a day in Venice. Perfect for single travellers or couples.

Very good location that only 2 mintues walk to Rialto and 3 minutes to San Marco (unless you are getting lost in the numerous alleys in Venice). Great quality in term of price in Venice, The single room is quite small but it dosen't matter cos I've been all day out. It would be even better if there isn't construction work outside that blocked the view from my window. No kattle/ hot drinking water, no lift, and it is a bit trouble to get the key plug into the switch to get the power on when you back in the dark. However it is accetable in term of the price and its superb location and their friendly staffs. Don't miss the breakfast, althoug it's typical simple breakfast but you will sit in a very lovely breakfast room with a balcony facing a canal. Go earlier to get the seat next to the balcony!

Excellent location, 5min walk to Rialto Bridge, 10 min to St Marc's Square. Breakfast was OK. No elevator so if you are over 50, ask for a room on the 1st floor. My room was too small even for a single room but I guess in Venice spaciousness is a luxury. And hot water takes a while to reach the 3rd floor so be patient.

It was perfect for me; it could not be perfect in general (because of a lack of an elevator and the absence of natural light in my room). However there are very good elements to consider: the hall where they serve breakfast is really fascinating (with a view on the ouside through ancient windows and a beautiful light) as well as the price of the room that was quite good, mostly in comparison to the average

On my arrival I received a very cool reception and during my stay even simple queries seemed to annoy the desk person, ie. how do I get an outside line on the phone? However, the hotel was fine; I had a clean, nicely decorated, comfortable and quiet room. Price was excellent and included a very good breakfast. The hotel is located in a somewhat isolated area, and I was a bit nervous about this at first. Also, the hotel does not have an elevator. However, for anyone who wishes to stay near the Rialto and can accept these issues I would definitely recommend the hotel.

Very good situation for visiting Venice. Good welcoming and price. My room (a single) was small but sufficient just for sleeping. The bathroom was correct and clean. The only problem was the noise due to restoration works in the palace (Scala del Bovolo) next to the hotel. They started at 7 pm and my window was just on the scaffolding (impossible to open the shutters!). Not a problem for me as I started early for visiting, but impossible to stay in bed late, except on Saturday and Sunday!

Was doing building work on hotel, very noisy from early morning. Needs a Bar/Lounge so you can sit and relax with your friends after the miles of walking, we asked if we could use the lovely dining area, just to sit and play cards, that was locked during the time it was not being used for breakfast but we were not allowed to. Rooms very clean, excellent breakfast. Good value for the price.

Great hotel. Tucked away a few blocks from the Rialto water bus stop. Very clean and extremely friendly staff. Great location. A big free breakfast room and they hold your bags before and after you check out. Open 24 hours. My room was a little small but very clean. I would 100% recommend this place.

This is a fantastic place to stay in Venice. The hotel is ideally situated and is easy to find compared to some other places I have stayed. The room was beautifully decorated with a very comfy bed. The breakfast which overlooked a canal was very clean and welcoming the food provded was good and varied. The staff were exremely pleasant. Well done to the Centuaro Hotel!

Very nice hotel. The room and the bathroom were really small, but the breakfast-room and the breakfast were excellent.

Delightful and well located, especially for the price!I'll be back! Easier access from Ponte Realto than from Piazza San Marco...The little alley where the hotel is located is in the wall in Campo Manin nearest the statues left hand side. The breakfast is teriffic. Ask for espresso; don't bother with the cafe americano. They will provide a water taxi to Murano free, but you will have to watch a little glass blowing/sculpting demo and wander their over priced showroom while putting up with their sales tactics. After that exit to the canal, turn right, and watch for the "Prestige" glass shop for nice people, authentic merchandise, and much better prices. Then, from the landing near the lighthouse, take the vaporetto to Burano; it's not to be missed. Then go on to Torcello; what a delight and a contrast. Food is expensive near the hotel, but is more affordable in the more residential areas of the other parts of town (away from tourist central). Prepare to get lost--Venice is confusing. Learn as much as you can in advance; a head start on what you'll see is a big help. The venice segment on www.goeurope.com is extensive and thouroughly infomative. And learn a little Italian; I recommend Pimsleur (all audio). If you can afford to see something at the newly restored "La Fenice," go! It's glorious! Google out their website. Hotel Centauro attracts an international crowd. Talk to people at breakfast to find what others have enjoyed or problems they've had. And give yourself time to enjoy Venice itself, not merely the sights. More than four days will turn you from a tourist to a traveller. The longer the better! There is no other Venice; and, when the sea finally takes it, the world will be a poorer place, and will never see its like again.

The Centauro is a simple, traditional type of mid-range hotel. This was my first time in Venice and I guess that you pay high prices for location, location, location. I can't complain about the location as it's 5 minutes walk from the Rialto Bridge and if you are short on time, this location is excellent. The breakfast was included and was good. I'd recommend this hotel for it's location definitely. We had a room overlooking a canal which can be a bit noisy early in the morning as the bin collectors (i.e. by boat) are at work but it's all part of the atmosphere. There is no lift but staff did offer to lug our cases to our room on the 2nd floor.

Great location right in the middle of Venice (reflected in the price tag). Easy walk to St Marc's Square and various other sites and water ferry stops. Excellent restaurants very close (try Rossa Rosa).

A good hotel. The location is very good. Venice is a confusing place and we took the advice of others by taking a water taxi from the railway station - a good move. It cost 70 euros. The rooms are clean and functional but not large. The "canal view" was from a small window onto a small canal, but we were pleased to have the view and the fresh air. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful on many levels and really enhanced our visit. Breakfast was fine - not a big spread, but just enough to get you going. The hard boiled eggs were welcomed, but tended to run out. The breakfast room was lovely but cramped, and that was about all as far as public areas are concerned - nowhere else to relax apart from the small bed rooms.

We booked a twin room with channel view and were very satisfied. Some other rooms have a view to the wall of next building only, in a distance of 1m ! If you want to avoid such very dark room, ask for channel view room. The breakfast buffet offers everything for a good day's start. The hotel is charming in Venice style and the guests we met were corresponding with that in a pleasant way. Note: there is no elevator. We arrived via vaporetto boat at Rialto station. Foot walk is about 400 m and not a problem. The hotel rate may appear some high, but consider the high costs of maintenance and transportation. The location is ideal. You can reach Marco Piazza in 10-15 minutes as well as Rialto bridge.

This is a great little hotel! Very well priced (extreamly well priced!), in a great location five mins from the Rialto Bridge or St. Marco square so you get the best of both worlds. The rooms are small and basic but the location is fantastic and the staff really friendly. Breakfast is good too. So don't expect the Hilton but as a basic well located cheap hotel this is hard to beat.

Excellent location, although initial directions a bit cofusing by saying go to Rialto, when it should be turn to right when alighting from water taxi. Room and staff excellent. See comment below as this was the only disappointing side to Venice when it would be so easy to give good value for money. Thank you

This was a beautiful hotel, very convenient to the main sights of Venice. The room was to die for, and, while, for example, the stairs were a bit slopey, it's all part of the charm of staying in Venice. The staff were very helpful.

When we arrived at the hotel for our room, they told us our room needed repairs and a very friendly young man walked us through the confusing streets of Venice to other accomodations. they put us in a beautiful, antique filled, marble bathroom suite that was several blocks away (confusing blocks for me as there were ten turns and a bridge between the two places) for one night. It was not convenient to move back, but they also upgraded us to a suite in the regular hotel and they were very friendly about the whole thing. This hotel could be a little hard to find. We missed it three times because the street the hotel is on seems like a small alley that could not possibly house a hotel, but it does. We never ate at the hotel because there as so many options in Venice. The AC worked very well.

Very friendly staff and lovely place (original palazzo), so there's no elevator in that historical venecian buildung, not for disabled people, but where else in venice it's easy for them?, breakfast room is soooo nice with beautiful view, delicious breakfast for an italian breakfast (warm croissants e.g.), compared price to other central hotels in venice but this one is the best in price-quality-relation, would/will return def!

Our first night was great. We had an airy room with plenty of light. We were on the canal and saw all the boats and gondolas. They had to move us the second night. It was a dark and stuffy room. Considering that there is no elevator, it would have been nice to give us a room for both nights. Especially, since the second room was more money.

Given it is Venice, prices are more expensive. Also we stayed the night after a big festival with fireworks. Prices for the Saturday stay were outrageous. Sunday was reduced but still expensive for the quality of the hotel. Location is excellent; in San marcos, within walking distance from the major sights. Pictures on website make it seem nicer than it is in person. Seemed pretty clean overall. Breakfast was just ok. We just stayed one night so it was adequate for what we needed. Staff was very accommodating-they let us check out later and leave our luggage until we left that evening on a night train.

We spent our 5th wedding anniversary in Venice and Hotel Centauro was perfect. We had a superior canal view room, which was lovely. The staff were helpful, especially Frank who booked us a local restaurant for our anniversary and it was wonderful! Thank you. Hotel is in a great location, easy walking distance to main square.

Good price-quality for Venice. Great location on a quiet alley and nice staff at the hotel. No lift and old, a bit wobbly stairs. Single room was tiny and dark, but quite elegant. Breakfast without any vegetables or warm dishes, but otherwise fine.

We randomly picked the hotel Centauro from the Venere website. We were extremely happy with our choice, and for E100 p/night we had a one bedroom suite with 2 balconies overlooking one of the small canals. Request room #9, you won't be disappointed.
