The Centauro is a simple, traditional type of mid-range hotel. This was my first time in Venice and I guess that you pay high prices for location, location, location. I can't complain about the location as it's 5 minutes walk from the Rialto Bridge and if you are short on time, this location is excellent. The breakfast was included and was good. I'd recommend this hotel for it's location definitely. We had a room overlooking a canal which can be a bit noisy early in the morning as the bin collectors (i.e. by boat) are at work but it's all part of the atmosphere. There is no lift but staff did offer to lug our cases to our room on the 2nd floor.

Great location right in the middle of Venice (reflected in the price tag). Easy walk to St Marc's Square and various other sites and water ferry stops. Excellent restaurants very close (try Rossa Rosa).

A good hotel. The location is very good. Venice is a confusing place and we took the advice of others by taking a water taxi from the railway station - a good move. It cost 70 euros. The rooms are clean and functional but not large. The "canal view" was from a small window onto a small canal, but we were pleased to have the view and the fresh air. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful on many levels and really enhanced our visit. Breakfast was fine - not a big spread, but just enough to get you going. The hard boiled eggs were welcomed, but tended to run out. The breakfast room was lovely but cramped, and that was about all as far as public areas are concerned - nowhere else to relax apart from the small bed rooms.

We booked a twin room with channel view and were very satisfied. Some other rooms have a view to the wall of next building only, in a distance of 1m ! If you want to avoid such very dark room, ask for channel view room. The breakfast buffet offers everything for a good day's start. The hotel is charming in Venice style and the guests we met were corresponding with that in a pleasant way. Note: there is no elevator. We arrived via vaporetto boat at Rialto station. Foot walk is about 400 m and not a problem. The hotel rate may appear some high, but consider the high costs of maintenance and transportation. The location is ideal. You can reach Marco Piazza in 10-15 minutes as well as Rialto bridge.

This is a great little hotel! Very well priced (extreamly well priced!), in a great location five mins from the Rialto Bridge or St. Marco square so you get the best of both worlds. The rooms are small and basic but the location is fantastic and the staff really friendly. Breakfast is good too. So don't expect the Hilton but as a basic well located cheap hotel this is hard to beat.

This was a beautiful hotel, very convenient to the main sights of Venice. The room was to die for, and, while, for example, the stairs were a bit slopey, it's all part of the charm of staying in Venice. The staff were very helpful.

When we arrived at the hotel for our room, they told us our room needed repairs and a very friendly young man walked us through the confusing streets of Venice to other accomodations. they put us in a beautiful, antique filled, marble bathroom suite that was several blocks away (confusing blocks for me as there were ten turns and a bridge between the two places) for one night. It was not convenient to move back, but they also upgraded us to a suite in the regular hotel and they were very friendly about the whole thing. This hotel could be a little hard to find. We missed it three times because the street the hotel is on seems like a small alley that could not possibly house a hotel, but it does. We never ate at the hotel because there as so many options in Venice. The AC worked very well.

Very friendly staff and lovely place (original palazzo), so there's no elevator in that historical venecian buildung, not for disabled people, but where else in venice it's easy for them?, breakfast room is soooo nice with beautiful view, delicious breakfast for an italian breakfast (warm croissants e.g.), compared price to other central hotels in venice but this one is the best in price-quality-relation, would/will return def!

Our first night was great. We had an airy room with plenty of light. We were on the canal and saw all the boats and gondolas. They had to move us the second night. It was a dark and stuffy room. Considering that there is no elevator, it would have been nice to give us a room for both nights. Especially, since the second room was more money.

Given it is Venice, prices are more expensive. Also we stayed the night after a big festival with fireworks. Prices for the Saturday stay were outrageous. Sunday was reduced but still expensive for the quality of the hotel. Location is excellent; in San marcos, within walking distance from the major sights. Pictures on website make it seem nicer than it is in person. Seemed pretty clean overall. Breakfast was just ok. We just stayed one night so it was adequate for what we needed. Staff was very accommodating-they let us check out later and leave our luggage until we left that evening on a night train.

Good price-quality for Venice. Great location on a quiet alley and nice staff at the hotel. No lift and old, a bit wobbly stairs. Single room was tiny and dark, but quite elegant. Breakfast without any vegetables or warm dishes, but otherwise fine.

We randomly picked the hotel Centauro from the Venere website. We were extremely happy with our choice, and for E100 p/night we had a one bedroom suite with 2 balconies overlooking one of the small canals. Request room #9, you won't be disappointed.

We enjoyed our stay very much!! We were upgraded to a room with a bathroom, having booked a room with a share bathroom. The rooms were small, but very nicely decorated, and large enough to move around. Good value for money given the destination. Breakfast is nice, and the staff are incredibly helpful. Location is quite good, very very close to Rialto and the Grand Canal, and not far from San Marco either. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The room was tiny and cramped, although we expected that in Venice. The window led out to an alley with little sunlight. The air conditioner was great, putting out cold air. The room had a sink, which we expected; we were told that the we would be the only ones using the bath and that was at the other end of a long hall! Breakfast was very good.

The Hotel Centauro has an excellent staff that are very hospitable, warm and knowledgeable about the area. Unfortunately, my ratings reflect a hotel in Florence and NOT the Centauro which can't be modified on this site. So here is the real scoop: Fabulous breakfast choices in a beautiful room with a lovely balcony. Very clean hotel with information in the lobby for all sorts of things. No matter what time you come back to your room, you're always met with a smile. Ample towels, soap and shower gel. A fair price for a good room in a good location-- although the hotel is a bit hard to find, that is part of Venice's charm and once you get there it seems so simple to find. I would return their again and highly recommend this hotel.

L'hotel è situato in centro a Venezia.

I am not that easy to please, but this was a fabulous hotel. I sincerely recommend the Centauro. The desk staff is amazing, always kind and ready to offer advice etc, the room with canal view was worth it. SO wonderful. Everything was clean, breakfast adequate, room beautifully decorated. We want to go back now! It was extra for the canal view, but as this was my first trip, a treat for my teenager, and for only 3 nights, it was truly worth it. Location is fab. Truly, they did not exaggerate.

The 'double' bed was actually 2 singles pushed together with a big gap in the middle & ridiculously uncomfortable - not the best for a romantic weekend. Only entrance to hotel is on narrow calle which was flooded 3 days out of 5 - if going at times of acqua alta take your wellies! The down side of the lovely canal view was the noise of the rubbish barge at 6am - but a price worth paying

We stayed in a quad room which had single beds for the kids, a great bonus! Very high ceilings with fabric covered walls. Narrow window faced scaffolding and another wall but the fantastic view from the breakfast room made up for this. The bathroom was clean and modern including a bidet, to the kids amusement! The hairdryer was like a hoover in reverse, would take my own hairdryer if we went back. Breakfast was basic continental fayre, bread rolls, ham, cheese, salami, cereal, fruit, croissant and eggs but enough to get us started for the day. Location was excellent, just 5 mins walk to either St Marks Square or the Rialto Bridge. In all the hotel met our needs of price, comfort and location and I would be happy to return.

Excellent choice for a stay in a hart of Venice! Just few steps from the Rialto. When I book my hotel in Venice I am always happy if they have a free room. Mini-bar is very cheap. Just one euro for a mineral water and 1.50 for a Coke. No elevator. Not for mature travelers, but for everyone else it is the right choice. Enjoy the hospitality of the great staff! It’s a 3stars hotel (with an elevator it would be 4+). In an overpriced Venice, a GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY.

The hotel was a little tricky to find in the first instance, being new to the area. The room was clean and well maintained during my stay. The buffet breakfast provided was very nice but arriving at 0730 for breakfast so that I could get to the Accademia for 0815 (opening time) seemed to be too early, some foods were not available. Very well located to get to main sights either to walk or by vaporetto( the way to travel ). Hotel is in a quiet location. Easy to get to from Station (train or bus) - just make sure you get off at the main Rialatto stop AFTER the bridge not the one before - thats the market on the opposite side of canal. Well maintained property, very clean en-suite with plenty of hot water and pressure. Bedroom small but adequate, the bed was very comfortable and airconditionor included in price, there was also a mini fridge. All staff spoke adequate English and were well able to help the tourist. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. Overall great stay - no hesitation to return.

Great location (5 mins walk from piazza San Marco) and not all that hard to find if you follow the venere directions closely. We were given a huge room including couch and extra bed, which was truly amazing given it was a venetian hotel! The value for money was the best I've ever come across in numerous trips to Europe, although the price we paid was about 1/3 of the official rate on the schedule on the back of the door. Very friendly staff and all aspects of the est were neat, tidy and clean. Main problem was that from about 8-10 am each morn there is a garbage barge positioned in the canal next to the hotel which creates a lot of noise. OK if you're an early riser I suppose. Also, the breakfast was rubbish, but we were happy to grab something at a cafe. Overall we were very satisfied with this hotel for the price.

I found the hotel to be in a perfect location, but was very dissapointed with the room itself. I thought the photographs and room description to be totaly misleading. we bought a room that should have had a " canal view" , but in fact did not, also the internal room photographs were misleading. the services in the hotel were good as were the staff.I have a large experience of hotels worldwide having travelled a lot on business and pleasure, so overall I felt that the quality of the room did not reflect in the price. I would stay again in this hotel, but in future would look to negotiate the price to a more suitable figure.

I actually booked a room with a shared bathroom to cut costs, but upon arrival, the receptionist was nice enough to offer us a better room at only a 15 euro per night upgrade. The room was lovely. Very clean! nice bathroom facilities. Although very small, the room was twice as high and had beautiful wood ceiling beams and brocade wallpaper. This hotel was quite near St.Marks square and the central tourist area, and a perfect place to get anywhere on foot. We enjoyed our weekend stay at the Centauro and would recomend it to anyone who wants to stay in Venice on a budget, but still insists on quality! Very friendly and helpful staff!!

We have been moved to another hotel "Hotel Dell'Opera Venezia" so we have not been accomodated in the Centauro Hotel". We have been notified of the move when we arrived at the Centauro because of "the roof leaking in our rooms after rainning". We would have appreciated to be notified before reaching the Centauro. The new hotel is brand new and rooms are nice. However, our rooms at the third floor were close to the kitchen and very noisy early in the morning (from 7 to 9 AM). When checking out we were charged an extra 2 Euros for a bottle of water we had bought in a shop and stored in the fridge of our room. We said so but had to pay: this is not very fair compared to a 880 Euros bill ...

The hotel was a little difficult to find but worth it. Our room was on the canal and the view was great. The sound of gondola passing by with acordian and singing was very romantic.

The room was quite small but did come with a small terrace where we could sit and chat. No elevator and no porters to help us with our luggage to the top floor was a bit dissapointing. The staff in the breakfast room were simply not interested the day we stayed there. I am sure (or hope) that they are more attentive usually. The fact that I love Venice means i will return, but will try another hotel next time as i always do.

It´s a very nice and quiet hotel to stay. The Staff are very friendly and qualified. The Breakfast is in relationship to other venetian hotels sensational. If you want to visit Venice book the Centauro. You´ll have no regrets. And to Venere.com: Thx for all

I made our reservation in August and when we arrived at the hotel in the pouring rain we were told that they were full and they had booked us a room off another square. Back out in the pouring rain we went to walk to the other hotel which was nice. I will tell you this place is difficult to find. We ended up in Manin Sq. only to walk around this sq. and not find the place. Hint, there is a bank with a narrow and I mean narrow street that dead ends. Take that street and it's near the end on the right. We didn't stay there but the place they put us in was nice. One square over where the Burger King is.

I spent four nights at the Centauro in early November, and my stay was part of an overall great experience. The hotel is off the Campo Manin, down a little alleyway opposite the statue, about 5 minutes from the Rialto and slightly more to St. Marks. The room was small, but had everything I needed - a comfortable bed, a wardrobe with enough hangers, good lighting, and even a reasonably-priced minibar, and it was always scupulously clean. The view was limited - across an alleyway to a blank wall, but I didn't spend much time there in daylight. Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were excellent, with a good choice at the buffet, from fresh rolls and croissants, cereals, ham, cheese, boiled eggs and fruit and yogurt. The area where the hotel is hasn't much for tourists, but it's so central to the area that it made a good base for lots of wandering around Venice. I will be back!

we took the room with seperate bathroom(not shared with anyone else), not na issue to us considering the price was way cheaper thna the other rooms. Breakfast was ok, as said before no hot food.Staff were ok, pleasant enough. excellent central location. Only issue was we asked for a wake up call and wasnt given one, the blearyeyed desk jockey did not even offer an apology, (VERY rude), the only spoiler for us. o/wise would use again.

The gentleman at check-in was very friendly and helpful. He gave us great suggestions for a lovely dinner at Hosteria Galileo, which was right around the block. The hotel is down a narrow, dark alley so it was a little difficult to find, especially with the directions.

We were traveling with another couple who had never been to Europe. Our trip mostly featured small towns in Italy, Switzerland, and Austria, and our only large city was Venice, which earned a stay on our trip due to its unique characteristics as an island city laced with canals. The rooms in Hotel Centauro were elegant, with 12-foot high ceilings and lots of colorful brocade. The young lady at the reception desk was particularly helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent.

I was very upset that our bathroom was quite a way down the hall and we were not told this when we booked. We expected that "private bathroom" meant a bathroom in the room. This should be disclosed to future guests.

I had made two reservations; one for Howard DeVore and one for Eli Blickenstaff. I had to cancel the first set of reservations, but then remade then a few days later. When we arrived at the hotel, they did not have the reservation for DeVore....showed us that it had been cancelled, even though Mrs. DeVore had her confirmation in hand. Fortunately, there was a room available, but not the canal view the DeVores had requested.

Overall experience was very good. Our room was quite large and had a window that overlooked the canal which was nice. However, this also made it a little noisier - food was delivered and garbage was hauled away early in the morning. The breakfast was very basic but ok. Its also difficult to find. The street its located on what looks like a deadend alley and there is no sign that's visable in the square or from the street. You have to be standing right in front of the door.
