The hotel overall was nice, though we encountered some problems - One of the window blinds wouldn't open (out of 2) - The TV kept on disconnecting, reception was awful - The bread served at breakfast was dry and stale But the location was nice, quite calm and close to bus station and center of Venice

A very clean hotel at the best place for visiting Venice. the rooms were quite small, the staff at the reception desk were below average, quite unfriendly and non-professional, in sharp contradiction the staff at serving breakfast and cleaning of the rooms were perfect, very friendly and professional!!

Le prix est élevé pour un hotel 3*(comparaison avec des hotels suisses) dont la localisation dans la ville n'a rien d'attrayant. Les linges de toilette sont d'une minceur extreme.

The Hotel is not easy to find, We had to ask directions from the Hotel Carlton (parent hotel)but it was still not easy to find mainly due to construction work that is being done in alley access. In a staight line, the Hotel is just across a canal from the train station exit but to get to the Hotel, wheeled cases still have to manhandled over a bridge (steps up, steps down)quite an exhausting exercise. Porters, we were told were usually only available for tour groups. However, for our return journey to the train station, the Hotel secured a porter. (4 people, 6 cases, Euro35)Having said this, we were quite happy with the Hotel. Room a trifle squeezy but comfortable and clean and in good condition. Breakfst good, front desk helpful and the room rate very reasonable. Location is 5 min walk to the Roma Vaporetto jetty. Our stay was 2-1/2 days and we found the 3 day pass an advantage. The location is out of the main tourist area which is an advantage - - - the close proximity of the Vaporetto makes everything accessable. A couple of good restaurants close by, probably more but we only ate out for 3 nights (twice at one). We were there November and the tourist crowds were surprising given the time of year. We commented on this to a shop keeper and his reply was "it is dead" , what must it be like during the season. We had been once before, briefly, and had missed the Doge's Palace because of a srike. Saw it this time, don't miss it. Rialto markets are a must. Apart from that, Venice is a walking city - - - much to to see if you take your time. Speaking of strikes, they can happen any time, one evening we wanted to take a Vaporetto from St Maks Square to Roma, there was a Vaporetto strike and we had to walk a considerable distance to Rialto where Vaporettos from were still running to Roma. Overall, a pleasant stay

The hotel was closed for repair but all reservations were transfered to Carlton @ Grand Canal. Thus my feedback is to Carlton @ Grand Canal. The location of the hotel is excellent due to its close proximity to Santa Lucia Railroad Station. They advertise availbality of interent but had some problems with it, hopefully temporary.

A bit hard to find as it is behind the Carlton & Grand Canal Hotel. The walk to the hotel is dreadful with open sewers and drain work being done all along the primary walkways. The appearance and odor on the walk to the hotel filled our small group (2 couples) with dread. However, the hotel itself was quite pleasant, with clean, comfortable rooms and the best beds during our 18 day stay in Italy. Breakfast adequate and abundant if a bit boring and the staff were uniformly polite and helpful! Would recommend the hotel without question were it not for the horrible construction with spongy boardwalks and terrible odor along the primary route to the hotel.

Before we start our comments, we have to write a few words of explanation. We reached Venice by train on the 19th of December 2005. At 7PM we entered in the "Hotel Carlton & Grand Canal" asking for the location of the "Capri" hotel. At the reception desk was Mrs. Lisa. Our order (send by "Venere") was on her desk. Mrs. Lisa informed us that we'll be accommodated in "Carlton" hotel. We have received a double bed room facing to an internal courtyard. For us, leaving the room in the morning and coming back in the night, was an ideal accommodation. To the cleanliness of the room and the quality of the service we had also to add the quietness of that location. We had a wonderful stay in Venice (even the weather was fine !!) and we had a great pleasure when, on the 26th of December 2005, we found out that we have to pay the initial price (as in the documents send us by "Venere") despite we have been accommodated in "Carlton" instead of "Capri".

Would return to the hotel again in a flash! Only complaint, as noted already, is the map provided over the internet bears NO RELATION WHATSOEVER to the hotel's location in Venice. We spent 1 hour searching in the wrong location. We had trouble finding anyone who could help us. We had LUGGAGE from a 2 week cruise. This was not good! Finally, we walked into the Carleton Grand, not realizing the two hotels were affiliated, hoping they could help us and they did very quickly.

Room size quite small, bedroom assigned to us on the ground floor was quite noisy - especially in the wee hours of the morning when some pump or engine or machine would just suddenly turn on with a constantly loud humming sound and stay on for about an hour or so. The staff I complained to could not explain the source of the noise which came from outside our bedroom. Breakfast provided was good. Other service staff were quite friendly.

Although at the "tail end" of the Grand Canal, all major attrction were accessable by using the bus (actually, it's a boat). Upon our late or if you wish, early arrival at 5 am, the front desk was open and the staff was very welcoming and pleasant. As for the room, they are clean and modern (especially the bathrooms), however, slightly small (we had a triple). Overall, our stay was excellent and if in venice, this is a great place to lay you head. Price/Quality = excellent

Overall nice, only complaint was a smallish room, and the desk guy couldn't figure out how to use the credit card machine at 4 AM as we were trying to catch a bus to the airport, but location is excellent, very quiet, comfortable beds, nice bathroom and shower. I slept through breakfast so I can't comment on that.

The hotel is very easy to get to from Piazzale Roma. And it's near the very nice area of Dorsodouro. Staff were remarkably friendly. The room was nice, the bathroom was newly renovated and luxurous. The place was quiet except for works done in the streets nearby. Besides I can really recommend the place.

The area where the hotel is located is very quiet! It's important, because at venice there are very noisy tourists nearly everywere. But the aircondition is noisy. We liked the hotel.

The hotel is centrally placed and the rooms (I had a double for single occupancy) were spacious, with a good sized bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. It was a good base for getting out and about in Venice.

It was difficult to find the Hotel due to a faulty web-map. The location was very good regarding short distance to public transportations. (Bus, train and boat) The bathroom was to small, it was more like a small toilet with a shower on the wall.
