Nice Hotel, simple and clean room, spacious as well. Very friendly staff. We arrived early and entered at room after cleaning with no problem. Very close to the station, but a little bit far from the Piazza San Marco, better catch a vaporetto. No air conditioning at rooms, but we already now and was not a problem. The only negative point was the poor breakfast. I recommend staying there considering the 3 star standard

Hotel Caprera is located very near to Venezia Station. However, it's situated at a very small alley and we missed it when looking for it. The owner wasn't very friendly, though adhere to our requests. There's no elevator and we are staying in the 3rd floor. Therefore, have problems lugging our luggages up and down upon check in/out. There was some construction on the next building and therefore there's noise throughout the day. Rooms were small and overall, I do not think the price is justifiable for the rooms. I will look for another hotel on my next visit to Venice.

We chose this hotel because of it's proximity to the train and bus station as we had an early flight out of Venice...but the rooms totally lacked charm. The lamps were fluorescent lighting..no ambience at all! The beds were very hard...only a mattress on a spring, like a double cot. Breakfast was white bread, dry croissants, and cereal. I would not recommend this hotel.

The reservation was four 4 adults. When we got to the room we found 1 full size bed and a bunk bed. The lower bunk was on the floor. The bed length was not long enough for an average height man (5'9). And the room was cold. They claim he heat comes on a 8:30pm, but we did not feel the heat at all. I left there with a cold. The comforters looked very old too.

The hotel was a little difficult to find. It is located in an small alley with an @sign above the entrance. Good location though. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. Breakfast area was quite small and narrow but we were able to get coffee and bread- enough to get us through to lunch. Lot's of restaurants close by. We stayed one night prior to our cruise. Hotel not far from Piazza Roma - bus and train terminals. We'd go back again.

Hotel Caprera is located down a small alley off the main street; look for a "@" sign pointing to the Internet business located next door. Hotel Caprera was an excellent accommodation for a budget-minded single traveller: clean, functional, easy to get to from the train station, friendly helpful staff, modest continental breakfast.

I had a wonderful time here. The people were wonderful; the rooms were updated and clean. Close to the train station, ferry bus stop, and tourist stores but far enough away that there isn't any noise from any of it. The only things I heard were the neighbors sometimes and the birds in the morning! Super helpful guy at the desk too.

The location was fantastic - would definitely stay there again. Everything was so expensive, it was good to spend a little less on accommodations. We had a family of 5 (kids 11, 13 & 19) in one room comfortably, breakfast was fine, only thing we would change -we would bring bug spray next time. This is not a complaint - it was charming to be able to stick your head out the windows and look around, rather than being hermetically sealed in the room!

Overall very pleasant stay. I'm a exploring type traveller and the hotel provided a good base from which to do so. Hotel was difficult to find if not for sign on alley. As value traveller the location was very convenient to train station, vaporetto, and equidistant between supermarkets (coop toward RR station)- the new long arch bridge connecting Cannareggio to piazza Roma - where land transport connects - made this site ideal for me. The Ae Oche pizza restaurant is very close so reasonably priced eating out was available also - they offer about 70 diff types of pizza. The owners must also own the internet service next door and was very convenient - they had student pricing of 1hr/ 4 euro. Only drawback was the mosquito like insects that bit me over 40 places during sleep. they were airborne not in the room so I can't blame the cleaning it's just a drawback of not having screens on windows. My room was very quiet (think most would be since its about 50 m down the alleyway) - you will hear church bells but I don't consider them a nuisance, rather ambience. Room was spacious for a single traveller though the bathroom was especially cramped (I'm 6'2 185) I felt like a circus clown in a midget bathroom instead of a midget car. The staff was very friendly and accommodating with directions, locations of points of interest, and overall very good. Even though I mentioned I was leaving early my morning of departure they forgot to tell me I'd find the door gated and locked. It could have been a problem but the family member on night shift did let me out after ringing the bell quite a few times to awaken him. I'd suggest any elderly travellers would need to be in good physical shape to consistently navigate the steps. Seemed pricey for what I got (85 euro nt) but then it is Venice, and from what I had read pre trip, this was still reasonable rate - overall, a good stay.

Chose this hotel due to the mostly glowing reviews. Whilst the staff were 'ok', I didn't find them as effervescent or helpful as I'd had thought they'd be after reading other reviews. They made no attempt to interract or help even when we needed an extra fan in the room - the rooms are NOT air-conditioned and their webiste is misleading to this fact. They were not forthcoming with a spare fan which was a problem when we are a family of 4 sleeping in 2 different corners of the room and the weather was hot. The website is also misleading stating that there's internet - this is a separate business run by one of the sons next door, for a charge of course! Saying all this, however, the hotel is in a brilliant position and so easy to get to after arriving at the station with luggage - just a few minutes stroll. It's in an area surrounded by great restaurants, lots of shops and easy to get to the rest of Venice. All up, it's not bad value in an expensive city, but if you really want air-con then make sure you ask for one of the 2 rooms with it - and bring your mozzie spray!

Great location - close to train station AND no stairs to climb with luggage. This is critical in choosing a hotel in Venice! Room was very clean and they even gave us a room with a nice couch /converting to bunk beds. Our 9-month old boy slept confortably. The bathroom was very nice and appeared to be brand new (room 12). Bed was ample, staff was friendly, and breakfast was continental but worth it. It sets the day right when you don't have to go out searching for a cup of coffee and a croissant and spend $25 for two. They provide expresso, cereal, croissants, pastries, juice, and American coffee. There was some construction noise early in the morning coming from the alley/entrance area.

Hotel staff was helpful in several ways, including trying to find reasons my wife's cell phone was unable to reach USA. It was nice to have a separate room near hotel lobby to check email, download photos, etc. My wife enjoyed the owner's dog lounging in and outside the lobby and entryway, it made her feel like she was at home with a pet around. She also enjoyed the full length bath tub, but would recommend that women bring their own shampoo/conditioner, hair dryer, etc.

It´s my second time in venice. The first time I booked in some hotel near padua, and it takes me like 40 minutes in bus to get to venice, very bad choise!! So I was very careful in this second choise, and Hotel caprena was just what I was looking for: very good location, just 300 meters from train station, very near to ponte descalzi, it takes like 15 minutes walking to rialto bridge, and 30 minutes to plaza san marcos. Very close to restaurants and shopping areas. The hotel was in general very good, here are the bad things: the old lady at the reception wasn't very nice at all; she does not speak english (and didn't try to). The first floor smell like wet dog, and it had no lift (4 floors)the bathroom had no curtain bath. It was VERY NOISY at night. That were the bad things, but in general the hotel was great: very clean, comfort, spacious, secure, even had a terrace, breakfast cost 6 euro. Internet cost 5 euro for 30 minutes.

Hotel Caprera is a family run business with members of the family ranging from Grandmother down three generations. They were very friendly and helpful. We stayed here during the Venetian Carnevale, and it was a great find. The very nice family who runs this hotel went out of there way to answer every question and request we had. The hotel has spacious rooms (quite large for Europe), nice amenities, and was immaculate. The only minor downside is it's a bit of a walk to the Rialto and St. Mark's, but on the upside, it's an easy walk to/from the train station. For the price, it was a dream come true.

Easy to find from the train station, did not have to walk and search for the hotel with the luggages. It is a clean and nice hotel and people are friendly. Everything is just as presented in the Venere.com. The only thing is, especially when the next room's door opens or closes (which happens rarely), it sounds like it is your room's door. Other than this it is quiet hotel. I really recommend this hotel for people looking for nice, clean, quiet hotel with reasonable pricing.

As all the prices for hotels in Venice are far too high this hotel without any star rating is among the best we have experienced in this town. It provided good beds and the rooms were in a top refurbished condition. The furniture was simple but they did not pretend to be a Renaissance palace with frilly bits, but a simple and clean hotel room. The service was excellent and the only disturbing (but very loud) noise was from a building site next door which should soon be over.Plenty of breakfast places are within easy reach.

Great location, not that difficult to find, excellent customer service, always helpful receptionist. Old building but very friendly/family-like atmosphere. Double room was small but enough for a couple. Bath didn't have curtain so you end up wetting all the floor everytime you shower, but it was very clean. What you pay in Venice for accomodation (and anything else) is a day light robbery but this hotel is by far the best relationship price/quality/location you will ever find in Venice. Don't bother looking anywhere else.

Excellent value for money, warm(in winter) and with good location not far from entry/exit points. The hotel seems to be family run and is certainly very safe. It is up a back alley so all is quiet - clearly there is no view of Grand Canal and no restaurant/cafe facility etc but the rest of Venice makes up for it. Also, the rooms are Spartan and not decorated in Venetian style with chandeliers or anything but they are really clean and comfortable. I would be glad to stay there again. Alison Fayers-Kerr PS Carnival was great and I enjoyed the shops in the market area across Rialto. Also the Murano glass factory and island is fabulous.

A beautiful hotel in Venice for the price, and very close to the train station, which makes getting in and out of Venice very easy. They have an internet lounge attached to the hotel too. The hotel could be easily missed, because it’s sort of in an “alley” to the left of the main walkway as you leave the train station, so you have to keep you eyes peeled for the banner at the alley-way saying “Hotel Caprera”. But it’s not nearly as difficult to find as most places in Venice. It’s also close to the Vaporettos, which makes it a wonderful location. Plenty of restaurants near by too. They wouldn’t let me use the air-conditioning, because they felt that late September was not hot enough for it. Being from Canada, it was hotter than I was used to, but I’m sure most people would have felt the temperature was fine. The Hotel Caprera was a lovely hotel for the price, no complaints. I would stay there again.

It was a bit like being at home - friendly and welcoming staff. Unfortunately, the rooms are not air-conditioned, so it was quite hot and quite noisy because windows had to stay open during the night due to high temperatures during the day. And with open windows you could not avoid having midges in your room. The location ist great for traveling by train or arriving by bus, but some of the nightly noise was surely related to being in a highly touristic area. Breakfast could have been ordered, but only as room service.

We were expecting the room to be air conditioned when we booked. Unfortunately, we could not argue with the staff as the it was not printed on the reservation form. Better make sure that the room details are printed on your reservation form. Summer is Venice can be dreadful.

Very pleasant hotel close to the train station and the grand canal. Great location on a quiet litle side street but a little difficult to find. Room was a bit small but adequate for a family of 4.

Please ensure that you have some form of mosquito control with you. The appartment is sizeable and well equiped, but no airco or fan, and bathroom is shared with another apartment. We were lucky, the other apartment was empty. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Fantastic area.

Nice Hotel down queit lane close to main bus and train station and next to Grand Canal. Expensive (but so is all of Venice). No breakfast which was a hassle. The only negative was we were charged more than the maximum room rate displayed inside the room for the time of year that we stayed. We would stay here again if back in Venice

we loved this hotel although we were on the 3rd floor and there is not a lift and our bags were heavy but the owners son was very helpful to us and carried my big bag for me. There is also an internet cafe attached to the hotel and this was great. We found this hotel so easily after we got off the train and it was in a brilliant area and would definately stay here again and also highly recommend it. Just dont take too much luggage to Venice as it is hard to get over all the little bridges with all the bags.(Make Venice your first stop off point)

Great hotel in the Cannareggio area and the service staff excellent. We LOVED this area more than the others. The restaurants plentiful..great shopping (but that is true for everywhere in Venice)..open fruit/veggie markets, and short walk to the train station and the vaporetta station. If you're coming in by train this is the area for you. One negative is NO elevator...so for those who don't do stairs easily with HEAVY luggage, this is not the right choice. The rooms were clean and more than adequate. We had a quad room (2 single beds and a bunk bed in one room). It made the space a bit tight..but we WERE 4 people with lots of luggage. We easily walked to San Marco square in 30 minutes. The closer you get to San Marco area the less coffee shops and food shops. You can get breakfast with the room for 6 euros...but the food in the area is plentiful...and they open early. I was not disappointed with this hotel or area and would definitely stay here again. Travelled with my girlfriend and our 2 teenage daughters.

Hotel Caprera was wonderful as advertised. The front desk staff was helpful and welcoming. They went out of their way to see that our stay was enjoyable. The location of the hotel was excellent, about a five minute walk from the train station. The room was clean and well stocked. I would stay at this hotel again and recommend it to anyone. Rates were extremely reasonable.

The only problem we had with the Caprera was finding it, and that was more to do with the way Venice is laid out than the hotel. The staff were friendly, their dog was lovely, and the room we booked was exactly as advertised. We'd happily stay here again.

This hotel was great! There was not one thing bad about it, it was right in the middle of everything yet because it was down the alley it wasn't noisy. The staff were great, and the rooms were very clean. I definately recommend staying at hotel Caprera.

Hotel Caprera was a great value for the money. The location is very convenient as the hotel is <10 minute walk from the train station. You'll have to look closely to find the street for the hotel - it's off to the left down a small alley and it is very easy to miss if you're not paying attention. If you've walked more than 15 minutes from the train station, you've gone too far! Although Caprera is definitely a budget hotel, our top floor room (#34) had a fairly spacious bedroom, large bathroom w/window and a small balcony. There are few amenities, but the room was clean. The hotel does not have an elevator: if you have a lot of luggage, be prepared for a hike up the stairs. Overall, we'd recommend Caprera.

The room finish was quite poor (marks on wall - skirting finish. The air-con didn't work. There was no TV when the brochure said there should be.The room was was very clean. I have stayed in many hotels in Venice and this one offers the lowest value for money. Had it been a budget price then it would have been fine. However at 100 Euro a night (with no breakfast) it was not the cheapest.

Enjoyed our stay at Caprera. Extremely convenient in terms of location, only about 5 mins walk from the main rail station. The place is clean, rooms are nice. In terms on noise, the once in a while noise from people walking on the hotel corridor, which is not that frequent anyway. The owner does not speak much English, but we didn't have much problems.

The breakfast at this hotel was nothing more than bread (not even toasted) and coffee. The rooms were small, and there are no TV's in the rooms like their own info said. Even with all of that, however, the location (close to the train station) made this a pretty good hotel. It's over-priced, but everything in Venice is.

We were only in Venice for one night and this hotel was perfect. It is close to the station so you don't have to cart your bags around Venice (which is pointless for a short stay). We were slightly apprehensive about staying near the station but the area was fine. Rooms very clean, staff friendly and helpful, bathroom great. Overall basic hotel but great for the price. Would definately recommend. One small point, pack light because you have to carry your bags up the stairs (which I understand is the case for a lot of hotels)

Good location (less than 5 min to the main railway station or to the airport shuttle buss). Shower and toilet were in excellent condition. The room is very plain, but clean. Hotel provides no breakfast, but there are several bars in the neighbourhood which provide it. This is a priceworthy hotel for travellers who do not want any luxury, but just want to stay overnight in a clean room with a toilet and a shower.

The accomodation was quit good. The rroms were recently rehabilitaded and the whole place was clean and nice with a familiar feeling. Negative perhaps was the lack of AC and that there was not any breakfast room (but we managed well in spite of that).

The hotel is very close to the train station. It is down a small alley but not too hard to find. There is no air conditioning. we got bit by some sort of bed bugs. Each morning we would have a few more bites then the night before. Fans in the room would have been great. The people at the desk were very helpful.

It's a nice little hotel slightly off the via Spagna near Ferrovia. It was a little noisy at night, and the air conditioning is only in the lobby. However, it's a great value, the employees are wonderful and the location is excellent. I'd stay there again without hesitation.

The staff were friendly and location was good, but the noise level from outside was bad. There was a party going on somewhere till 3am very loud, but the worst thing was the mosquitos in the room..we each got bit over 50 times. I would recommend hotel with air, would have helped with both problems. I would not stay there again.
