This hotel is in a great location, just off the Grand Canal and very close to Saint Mark's Square. The room was lovely and breakfast was good, though the "little" square just outside the front door was under construction so that took away from its beauty. Staff was VERY helpful and knowledgeable. Ask for restaurant recommendations, they didn't disappoint.

Hotel is located just behind St Marks Square and 100 feet away from the Grand Canal. Close to the drop-off point for the water bus. Hotel was close to restraunts and tourist sites and hotel breakfast was good. Staff was friendly and hotel areas were well kept. Room was kind of small for a quadruple. Only real issue with our stay was that someone was banging on something starting around 04:00 in the morning for two days.

Ideally located only minutes from Piazza San Marco and convenient to vaporetto lines and ACTV water transportation options, Hotel Campiello is, in our view, an extraordinary value as well as an excellent base for both enjoying and exploring Venice. It has been our hotel of choice on both of our visits to Venice. And in addition to meeting all of our expectations, it also provides a magnificent breakfast to each of its guests. Bravo to all for making our visits to Venice so memorable!

Price was a little steep, but guess that's just Venice. Hotel and room were very well appointed, and staff were friendly and helpful. Only complaint was the size of the bathroom, shower 2' square.

This was a small friendly hotel, very well situated for all the Venice attractions including transport. The room was very small but we were warned about this when we booked because it was an economy room. It was air conditioned (essential in Venice in August) and the room and bathroom very clean. Would highly recommend it as a central location and value for money. The continental breakfast was plentiful and fresh.

We found this hotel online, and after reading the reviews, decided to book. No problems with the procedure. Several comments about how small the rooms were. We booked a standard room, and were pleasantly surprised. We'd just come off a ship where the cabin was adequate. This room was bigger (108) and had character. No bath, but the shower had a full range of sprays, and was fun to play with. Recommended, to the point that we'd stay there again. Oh, and it's convenient to find, which can be handy when you're lugging a couple of suitcases around.

There's no question at all that given another opportunity, we would absolutely select the Hotel Campiello again. The location was absolutely perfect - close enough to Piazza San Marco as well as boat stops, yet off the main thoroufares so it was very quiet. When we checked in, we were advised that we would be upgraded (at no additional charge) to the junior suite on the top level. Since we were traveling with two teens, this was greatly appreciated. The room was wonderfully spacious and included a rooftop balcony. Really, the ONLY downfall to this stay was that since the second room was the one with two single beds, my husband and I had the pull-out couch in the main room. While normally we would not at all have a problem with this, the mattress was quite thin, therefore the bars from the couch frame could be felt and for us made the bed as it was un-sleepable. That being said, all we had to do was pull the mattress off the frame and onto the floor and we slept quite well. The breakfast buffet was fantastic, with not only breads and rolls, but cereals, juices, meats and cheeses. It was more than we expected. When we left, I took many of their brochures to pass along to friends that I know would be traveling to Venice. Without hesitation we would recommend this hotel, and upon our next trip, we'll look forward to staying there again.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Campiello. The room size was small (as expected in most European hotels) but was nice, quiet and clean. The public areas of the hotel were also nice, and although they were also small, they were plenty big for a small hotel. The hotel entrance does not join directly onto the busy tourist tracks of Venice but rather is down a little pathway, just 20 meters from the artists painting alongside the Grand Canal. We recommend this hotel and will definitely stay at Hotel Campiello again on our next visit to Venice.

Superb central location in a small quiet street just off Riva degli Schiavoni - the Ailaguna waterbus from Marco Polo airport stopped very close by. Room (with bathroom) was immaculately clean and excellent for our family of four. The breakfasts were more than adequate too. Staff courteous and knowledgable. This hotel was clean, had a fantastic breakfast, and you cannot beat the location. It is one bridge away from the S. Marco vaperetto stop. Finding it was simple, and commuting around Venice was so easy from this location. We had to walk through St Mark's square to get home at night, and listening to the bands as they filled the night air with music was the perfect end to each day. The linens were clean, the towels were huge and the room was very pretty. Great shower, fully stocked bathroom. Breakfast is served in the lobby, there are lots of choices: pastries, american ham, yogurt, cereal, juices, and a server will take your coffee or hot chocolate order. We booked a quad, and though it did not look like the photo online, it was fine. There was a king bed and two twins they had brought it. We still had room to walk. Nice closets and fun Murano glass fixtures. This is a great choice. The staff helped us extend our stay by finding us a room at their sister hotel The Pagenelli, which was also up to the same standards of comfort and cleanliness. We really enjoyed our stay.

As a solo traveller, this hotel was ideal as a base for visiting Venice. The location is ideal being close to St Mark's Square and the vaparetto stops. The staff were always at the desk and very friendly. The single room was small but perfectly adequate and clean (perhaps more storage space would have been good though) and the private safe was a bonus. The breakfasts were good, the wireless internet worked (you have to ask to be connected but it's free) and the overall stay was enjoyable. Negatives: The hotel temperature seemed very hot (i was there in a cool March). As far as noise goes, the outside was quiet enough but you are vulnerable to noisy neighbours. I suppose that's more down to luck though.

Excellent value for the price. 75 euros for a single room with a queen bed right behind the Doge's Palace and an easy 1 or 2 min walk from the vaporetto stop. The front desk speaks excellent English, and there is a public computer for internet access. They even have an elevator (although it broke my second day). Nice breakfast area. The only drawback was the size of the room - I was given a small double, and it would have really tight for 2 people. Minimal closet space, although there was a small private safe. The bathroom was also quite small. However, an excellent value for Venice. Overall, I was quite pleased.

Wonderful location! The room was a bit small but beautifully redecorated with marble bathroom. It was a charming room. It was so close to St. Marcos yet bit hidden from the crowd and away from the noise. The front desk was exceptionally helpful and friendly. We had no problem walking across Venice, while it had an easy access to water transportation a few yards away.

I totally recomend this hotel. It´s really easy to get to it (if you leave the vaporetto at San Zaccaria stop!!!). The facilities are clean, they have a good lift and the employees are very welcoming. The room was not so beautiful as it seems at the photos at Venere, but it still a very good room with bath room (big, clean and new). The location is outstanding and quit at same time. Love it so much. Our first time in Venice were perfect!

We were 2 young women visiting Venice for the first time, and this could not have been a more perfect hotel! We were warmly welcomed by an elegant, most helpful man, who spoke perfect English and offered great advice on restaurants. The details in the decor of the rooms were classic Venetian, and photos really don't do it justice. Our room was very small, but perfect for our stay. Literally 50 feet from the San Zaccaria vaporetto stop, you can't get a better place for the money. The only unfortunate thing was that we came home late one night, and the front desk attendant was ASLEEP in the adjacent diningroom, so we were outside, pounding on the doors and windows until he finally woke up, about an hour later. We were furious, but the management discounted our stay by 20 Euros without us even having to ask. I would highly recommend this hotel, and will surely stay here next time I visit Venice! Be sure to visit Caffe Lavena and ask for Michele--what a wonderful experience to watch the dueling orchestras on the piazza!

This was our first time staying at the hotel and we stayed 5 nights total. I stayed with my brother and both my parents in a quad-room. The room was smaller, but not uncomfortably small for 4 people. The bathroom facitilies were very clean and updated. Yes the shower and the area around the toilet is a little small, however, still very functional. The beds are softer than what I would like, but again only a minor concern. We all enjoyed our stay there from the simple breakfast to its great location right near San Marco Piazza and the San Zaccaria water taxi. Overall we were very satisfied with the hotel and would stay there again.

I recommend this hotel given its prime location. Its location close to the Plaza San Marcos is a major advantage for tourists not only because you will spend lots of time in that area, but also because it serves as an easy landmark to go back to when exploring this city. There are signs that point you to the Plaza all over the city, and from there, you will know how to go back to the hotel. The hotel was very clean and the bathroom was equiped with a shower system featuring water jets for the whole body and for the feet. This was very welcomed after a long day of walking in the city. The hotel employees were very kind and welcoming. I will certainly go back to this hotel.

We had one night on our own before our tour began. Even though the room was small, it was obviously a 3 star hotel compared to the 2 star rooms we stayed in during our tour. Hotel Campiello was beautifully decorated, everything was in good condition, in a quiet location near a vaporetto stop, with the best breakfast we had in Italy. My vegetarian son appreciated the eggs in the morning as a good protein source. The smell of baked goods in the morning was heavenly! We stayed for 3 days in Venice - the hotel was fabulous - well located and (for Venice) reasonably priced. Everyone was helpful, the breakfast very good and lots of it. We were a couple of minutes walk from San Marco Plaza and within easy walking distance of everything we wanted to see. Great vacation, except for the food outside the hotel. Very expensive and not very good, with a couple of exceptions. Mostly we were served crappy pasta with boring sauces. Doing it again i think I would simply get pizza and house wine for lunch and dinner and spend my money on beautiful clothes and jewellery. The city was beautiful and hotel great. Check out the Doges Palace, all of San Marco Plaza, the Rialto Bridge, the Rezonnicko Palace, ride a gondola (bargain for the price) and wander to the end of the island where the "locals" live - fascinating and fun.

Our room was in the building next to the hotel. Nicely decorated, with quality bedding, ac, and tv, but the room was small. Nice bathroom which was spacious for Italy. We were a family of four (two adult children) and upon arrival we were told that they were upgrading us to an apartment as they did not realize our "children" were adults. I thought that Hotel Campiello was just "saying" that, but immediately found that it was quite true! We left the reception area, walked outside into the small square and walked a few steps to our apartment! It was trully an apt. with a small galley kitchen, table and 6 chairs, livingroom, separate bedroom and beautiful large bathroom. The sofa made into a bed; you would think it would not be comfortable, but it was just like a thick mattress and proved to be just fine. The location is fantastic and can't be beat. We walked EVERYWHERE with plenty of restaurant choices within our budget. The breakfast served was quite adequate and satisfying. There was only one thing that we found not to be true -- we asked how long it would take to get to the train station by vaporetto and were told 20 minutes. It took 40 minutes and we literally had to run and jump on the train to Florence with barely a minute to spare. However, that is the ONLY negative comment we can make. We would highly recommend Hotel Campiello to everyone going to Venice. The hotel greatly exceeded our expectations!!

Awesome place in the middle of all the action. Staff was wonderful. Rooms were small but that's what you should expect everywhere in Europe. Great breakfast. Internet available in lobby.

The room we stayed in was very nice, a little bit on the small side. The only complaint we had and certainly nothing at all to do with the Hotel or staff was the noisy, inconsiderate, rude people staying above our room who thought it did not matter to come in,in the early hours of the morning and bang around and to scrape chairs on the floor!. This infuriated us as this went on for well over 1 hour!! I bought some Ear plugs from the Drug Store the day after and wore them the night after. I have no complaints about the Hotel or staff, the staff had impeccable manners and were really friendly. I would highly recommend this Hotel to anyone who's looking for a good value, clean and friendly Hotel in central Venice.

in the bathroom and the room, there was no device to hang your coat and the towels. there should be some hooks on the walls.

We booked the "small room" and was quite worried when reception sent an email saying it was really small... however, when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised - the room was perfect, clean, the toilets were spotless. I'd imagine the hotel was recently refurbished. The staff were very friendly and provided some great ideas for eating and drinking out. The hotel was also located perfectly - not even a hundred meters from the boat bus and st. mark's. Well worth it for under 100 Euros per night (Feb 2008).

We were pleasantly surprised. The place was VERY clean and the head concierge spoke 4 languages fluently and was extremely friendly. Great location, just around the corner from St. Marks so we always had that as a way to get back to out hotel.

The room, the hotel and the service were all fine, but nothing special. Everything was a bit smaller than you would have liked it and pricey too, but this is Venice after all. I was together with my 6-year old daughter and enjoyed staying at an excellent location. All in all, it was a good choice.

This hotel is extremely convenient to St. Mark's Square. (It was very convenient for all of the Carnival Festivities). The hotel staff was very nice and friendly. Breakfast started at 7:30 which is nice when you want to get an early start. You can enjoy meats, cheeses, cereals, yogurts, breads, and cakes with your choice of coffee, teas, and juices. They even provide a free internet access in their lobby as an additional ammenity. You can see pictures of Venice and Carnival Costumes that I took at the following page: http://www.donnacorless.imagekind.com

The main asset of this hotel is its location. 2 minutes from San Marco and from the main vaporetto lines. Room was a bit small but very clean. Bathroom was clean and modern.

It's incredible to find such a great hotel with such a great price and in such an excellent location!!! One of the things I most liked and from which I wasn't expecting much was the great breakfast included with the price. Excellent for going out in the very cold winter and walking the whole city through.

our room was VERY small, just a foot or so around the double bed to walk, but lots of closet space and high ceilings. bathroom was very small, but functional with a small stand-up enclosed shower, toilet, bidet, and sink. nice fixtures, but tiny room if you're used to larger. other rooms in the hotel may be bigger. breakfast is healthy and one of the tastiest. EXCELLENT location - just a few minutes walk to St Mark's and a few more to Rialto. Just off vaporetto stop, so very convenient if you're tired of walking and want to see the other side of venice. TIP: traghetto boats go from one side of the grand canal to another - there are only 3 bridges that do this, so they serve as transport in-between the bridges. we didn't realize this until we left the city! PS - no cars, anywhere - very cool! each desk clerk we met was really polite and helpful. they will store luggage, as well as give you an umbrella to use in the rain.

I stayed three nights in Campiello with my girlfriend and was impressed by the quality of the hotel for what we paid. Great location, near St Zaccaria vaporetto stop with direct links to airport and just a few blocks from San Marc's square. Very clean and very modern bathroom!

The hotel is very well located, it is just a few minutes walk from San Marco, and even less from the Vaporetto. Rooms have special atmosphere, but they are very small. It was difficult to find space even for our luggage. Breakfast is good. Staff is helpful.

Room was *absurdly* small even for Venetian conditions. Very clean, rather solid furniture, good bathroom. BUT we had fleas there ... Breakfast was way over Italian standards - good! Devotion of clerks could have been better.

The breakfast is wonderful. In a 5 star hotel I had a very poor one, but here it was much better. The location is great, quiet, central and romantic, when arriving by alilaguna boat, you don´t have to pass a bridge, only 50 m to the hotel. Very friendly staff and 24 hour internet access! In the morning I woke up with the smell of croissants!

Our first time in Venice could not have been better. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. The hotel location is superb, and makes the stay more enjoyable. Buffet breakfast was good and ample, service was very good,a hotel we would definitely recommend, and return.

We stayed economy double room. The room is tiny. The shower room is also tiny. When I dropped a soap in the shower room, I couldn't pick it up quickly. Because it's too tiny. and I hit my head against the shelf. and It was so hot in the room. I couldn't controll air condition. So sometimes, I have to open the window. Good point is the location. Very near to vapoletto and piazza S.Marco.

The hotel has a nice location near San Marco. The rooms are very nicely decorated. The staff at the front desk was not unfriendly, but also not friendly. We had no problems during our stay and would recommend this hotel. They also had a computer in the lobby with internet access that was free for guests to use.

Beautiful little hotel. Our room had a veranda accessible through a staircase out one of the windows, how cute is that?? Accessible by water taxi without crossing a single bridge. A block off of St Marks Sq but very quiet. Rooms were extremely tight but supposedly that's Venice.

Great holiday and great stay at the hotel! Easy to find because it's just next to vaporetto's stop S.Zaccaria (20 min. from the railway station with line 51), romantic, clean (new towels every day), kind staff, generous breakfast (cakes, croissants, ham and cheese, toasts etc.). We had a wonderful "standard" bedroom, what a pity for the bathroom without the bathtub! I'll recommend it to all my friends not only for the position but also because of the good proportion price/service.... really a rarity for Venice especially in Sester San Marco!!!

How to reach Hotel Campiello

From the highway, follow the indications to Venezia centro and then to Tronchetto or Piazzale Roma, where there are discounted parking facilities.

By train
From Santa Lucia railway station, take the same vaporetto lines as from Piazzale Roma to the S.Zaccaria stop.

By airplane
