Ca' San Vio is located in the art district, walking distance to the Accademia and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Couldn't be better for what we wanted.

Nice and neat place, they gave really good, precise instructions on how to get there. It was really tiny though, even compared to other parts of Italy. The bathroom was especially tiny. Breakfast is nothing special. It was fine for the 1 night.
USA, Apr 2009
The location of the Ca' San Vio was great given that it was close enough to the popular sites as well as out of the way enough to be quiet during the night. The rooms are small but cozy (no smaller than other Venice hotels I've stayed at) and services are good, including continental breakfast in the room. They offered free internet in the room via my laptop, which I took full advantage of, and the front desk person was helpful. I would stay there again on a future visit. I stayed with my Mother and we had to share a bed, but we anticipated that given the small size of the rooms. It wasn't a problem.

We booked a triple room and got a room with a double-bed plus a small foldable side-bed. With children it was ok, but for 3 adults it would have been much too small. Also we paid more for the "triple" than for a double room plus an extra bed. The hotel and the rooms are nicely renovated and it is nicely and quiet but central located. Although the rooms were cleaned each day, the cleaning was very superficial and dirt of any kinds particularly in the very small bathroom accumulated over time.

We stayed 6 wonderful days in Venice. Our accomodation was a nice small hotel near to Academia and Guggenheim. Small but very cosy room with very comfortable bed. External, private clean and modern bathroom near by the room. Very friendly stuff. Breakfast is every day the same (Croisant, Toast, Honey, Jam, Butter, Nutella and Coffee, Orange Juice, Tea) but special because it is served in the room. Very good price/value relationship.

Little hotel in a very easily accesible area of Accademia just behind the bridge to San Marco, hence was in an ideal location. Unfortunately the alley is rather small & non-spectacular, and they were relaying the drain pipes which made the last 20 yards or so walk to the hotel not very pleasnt. For budget travellers who want their own privacy, I think this will be ideal, as it was one of the cheapest I could find in expensive Venice!

This is a great little hotel for a single traveller on a short stay. I had no trouble at all finding it (with a good map - essential for Venice). Plumbing is fixed out the front (so no more smells) though they were still working on it down the end of the street. Room was small but comfortable and there's no shared lounge or anything, but it's an easy walk to everything and close to transport.

The hotel is well located, its a walking distance from the main plaza, very close to two boat stops, I booked a room for 3 adults separate beds but actually the room was very small, the bathroom is as small as it can be, actually every hotel room in venice is small since buildings are old and all the city is packed, but anyway usually you dont pass much time in a hotel in venice just to sleep take a shower and go out again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Ca' San Vio. It's an excellent hotel in relation to the price! The hotel is located close to both the Guggenheim and the Accademia!

It was pleasant enough place to stay. They were working on the sewer right outside the door of the hotel so very smelly right outside. Location was good. Fairly close to a water taxi. Clean, nice accomodations. Staff friendly.

As stated in the description, the hotel is quite a walk from Academia, with at least 3 bridges to pass. There is another station that is closer to Troncetto, so you cut 20 min if you know that, but the walk is a bit longer. Remember a Venetian traveller's trick and live your luggage in the car park, loading only necessities on Vaporetto. Water taxi will not add value - you could barely come much closer to the hotel then public transport. As you approach the last passage you do not want to turn in: the 'street' is all digged upside down, with quite ugly pipes being displayed over shallow and doubtfully clean and suspiciously smelling water. That is Venice however, so you are here for water, aren't' you? As a matter of fact, during our night the smell was OK. Downstairs, there is total absence of public area. When I say total, I mean that: a single desk, a cupboard from which it is supposed to 'serve breakfast', a bar and place for 5 - 6 suitcases. As you are up very narrow staircase, you are in your room and things are starting to get better: it is clean, furniture is OK, bathroom is not tiered to death, and one can even call it spacious - especially for the Venetian standards. There is no 24 hours staff - they welcome you in, then disappear. You can drop your luggage downstairs the last day, and have a key to recollect it - it will be unlikely somebody in. Overall, when the approach to the hotel is fixed (the next 'street' is already done and looks very nice), you get very good value for money for Venice.

Prior to our arrival, those at the Hotel Ca' San Vio were quite good at email communication. They asked for confirmation of our specific arrival time, and diligently responded to questions about directions and parking. We arrived about 20 minutes prior to our scheduled time in the late afternoon, and were dismayed that the hotel did not remain staffed except during morning hours - the door was locked and nobody answered the hotel telephone line. We waited outside in the street for a while, and fortunately, a guest arrived and admitted us into the lobby until a friend of the owners arrived at the hotel to check us in. The rooms were clean and quite nice. The mount for the showerhead was broken (so that the person taking the shower would need to hold it up with one arm). This wasn't repaired during our stay, but by the same token, we didn't request a repair (though it's certain that the housecleaning crew would have seen it). The rooms would have been relatively quiet, except that the street was torn up directly in front of the hotel. We were woken up by construction noises starting at about 7am. I would expect that noise would not have been a problem but for the construction. The breakfast consisted of a cup of coffee or tea, 2-3 rolls, butter, jam, etc. The breakfast wasn't up to par with what one would typically expect with a lobby breakfast buffet (fruit, cheese, eggs, etc.), but it was nice to have the breakfast served in the room.

Quaint, boutique hotel with 5 rooms in total. Close to everything, and easy walking distance to the water ferry. We had two rooms, one double and one triple. The rooms were clean and quiet with private bathrooms. Breakfast was served in your room when you called for it. The owners sent us an email in advance to check our arrival time to guarantee we would be met on our arrival. Despite a delayed flight we were welcomed to the hotel.

The location of this hotel is very much off the beaten path. (Directions provided by the hotel were spot on!)Not really much to look at and very secluded. It made for a quiet nights sleep though only because we were their for 3 nights over the weekend. Come Monday morning, all the diggers were out in force as all the streets surrounding the small hotel were having ground work done. Anyone travelling their within the next few months, beware! Room was very small and the bathroom was more like a shower room. Though for the price, in Venice, must admit, was a bargain!

This was a really quiet hotel in a great location. You had to be quite independent - the reception was not manned for most of the day and you had to be confident about what you were doing. Breakfast was served in the rooms and depended on who was on duty that morning - different almost every morning - but was generally fine. The room we had had a fridge which was handy for storing water and supermarket buys. We were in room 4 which was bigger than the rooms on the first floor. Only thing missing in the room was drawers to store clothes for a longer stay. We were there for 14 nights. The bathroom was fine for the price and very clean but the loo seat was cracked and the shower head not attached to the upright. Minor problems which we did not worry about because the price was very good for the middle of Venice.

Were on the groundfloor. Quiet and well situated. Nice tiny bathroom. Nice atmosphere. Comfortable bed. Breakfast OK (maybe a bit light for some of you). Nothing bad, maybe the price but you are in Venice!!! Will definitely recommend it!!!

Venice is expensive (an understatement!) and this hotel offers a friendly, safe and (almost) affordable option. It is a small "family" run hotel. The staff are lovely and the rooms very clean. We enjoyed our stay here. The location of the hotel was perfect, for us, everything within walking distance. Our only grumble was that the breakfast was all out of packets. packet croissants, packet melba toast, etc. Other than that, as a cheaper alternative to the bigger hotels this is a good place to stay.

The hotel is located in an excellent location if you plan to visit The Accademia Gallery, The Guggenheim and other wonderful sites located in Dorsoduro area (which is off the beaten track a bit at least from many of the big tourists spots). We found the area to be charming and quiet due to it's location away from the big tourists sites with several good restaurants. We went to the museums and came back to our room for a break midday. We were able to save money eating lunch out by bringing lunch back to our room and using the convenient in-room pop-up breakfast table. By the way the breakfast they provide in-room is wonderful and served quickly once you call in the morning! Our room, however was smaller than the rooms pictured on Venere's site - (this is why we rated the photographs a little lower and provided some of our photos for future guests to see). The bathroom, especially was much smaller - we joked that it must be the smallest working bathroom in Europe. Honestly we don't think they could make a bathroom much smaller. Let this be a warning though - we know some people who literally could not fit into this bathroom! The shower is probably 2 x 1.5ft! The toilet is within a 2 ft. wide space as well - the bathroom is only 2 ft. deep, but they used the space as well as possible. The hotel utilized many luxuries which make up for the room sizes being small! They used beautiful fabric on the walls with matching bedding, glass lighting fixtures for a nice Venetian touch, nice hand held shower head, towel warmer and a hair dryer. We rated the quality vs. price as an 8 not knowing if it's possible to get a larger room in Venice for a comparable price. Please not: our room was the lesser expensive double available. Our overall stay we rated a 10. It is just difficult to pay high season prices in late Oct. as we thought we were traveling off season and of course the weak dollar really increased our bill. $190/night is expensive, but Venice is an expensive destinati

We really liked this hotel, it's one of the best rooms we have stayed around Europe. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, the bathroom very clean and spacious, AC worked well, quiet, and nice venetian decoration. They gave us directions to arrive from Treviso airport, and it was very easy to find. Very good location, near to Accademia and one can go by walk to San Marco. The only 'but' we found is that the breakfast is very poor, we know how the italian breakfasts are, but this was even smaller I think, not even ham. And they didn't have city maps, so we had to buy one. But generally the stayed was very good and the staff very kind. We really recommended and we would stay here again if we go back to Venice!

Rooms are ok. A good place to go if you are travelling to / from Croatia as you have the ferry port a few meters from the hotel. An other good thing is that you can leave your luggage during the day if you need it. People are nice although the breakfast could be better.

It's a great hotel compared to the price. Very well placed in Venise, and the street of the hotel is very quiet since it's an hidden one. Will definitly stay there again if i need to come back to Venise. And the indications to find the hotel were perfect (found it without a map !). 10/10.

We loved this hotel…it’s a bit hard to find, but basically head to the south of the island, and it’s near the Ponte Accademmia. The room we stayed in was very small, but it’s really all you need, as you’ll spend very little of your time in the hotel while in Venice. We had a comfortable bed, a small fridge, and beautiful Venetian glass light fixtures. The best part was a generous breakfast in bed and kind people around the clock at the front desk. If we ever return to Venice, we would definitely stay here. Highly recommended.

We traveled from Paris to Venice and the directions that we received were excellent. We reached quite late around 10pm, but there was someone waiting to welcome us. Paolo and Marco were very nice. They speak English and are very helpful. The room was clean and was maintained well during our stay. It's in a great location close to Accademia bridge in a typical street but the interior of the building is modern. AC worked great and the bathrooms were spotless. We really enjoyed our stay in this gorgeous city at Ca'San Vio and YES we will definitely go back there.

Bedroom really too small, bathroom good size. Breakfast served in room, which was a very cramped operation! This made the price a bit high, even though we know this is a quiet and nice bit of the city. The service was pleasant, but not a high presence. Was very grateful for the e-mail with directions to the hotel, as it is tucked away, and might have been hard to find. If there was a breakfast room and bigger bedrooms it would be an excellent place. Bathroom spotless on arrival, but not cleaned again. Hotel as it is, it is a little less than we would like, mainly because of small size, which is manageable, but may be less good in summer. Generally we liked it with the reservations above.

We stayed for 7 nights. When we arrived the room and bathroom were very clean. Afterwards though they didn't change towels nor sheets on the bed till our last night! One day the bed even wasn't made up. The satelite tv is only Italian channels and two German channels. The area where the hotel is to be find, is the first time not that easy to find, but it is situated real good in Venice. The rooms are VERY small. No place even for a chair. The hotel itself however took contact before our arrival to explain how we could find it which i found nice. There is no 24hr desk on weekdays and how to use internet is still a question I have... The people in Venice in general aren't all that friendly and explain things rather difficult and even wrong when you ask something. Venice need to work on his image towards their visitors. They make money too easy by the name of the city and the cruiseships arriving daily. People on Belgian coasts are spoiled in comparison with Venice. Venice IS beautiful and worth seeing... Oh and breakfast is not a buffet and has to be taken in the room. I expected more from Ca San Vio, but didnt let it spoil our vacation. Ca San Vio is more a bed and breakfast facility, not a hotel.

We loved the location and even though the property was small, it was very clean and the staff was friendly. Our second night there, however, whoever lived in the floor above the hotel was up until about 3am and it seemed like they were running back and forth all night. Very hard to sleep with that noise.

We stayed in Venice for 4 nights (9th to 12th July 2006) at Hotel Ca’ San Vio. This is my third trip to Venice and the hotel was a very nice surprise. I felt very spoiled staying here and it is excellent value for money. We stayed in room 4 (after reading one of the reviews on TripAdvisor) and the room was very elegant and nicely furnished – beautiful fabric wall paper and chandelier, spacious, light and airy feel, new furnishings and fittings, nice bathroom, and generally, very clean, elegant and welcoming. . Its location also is excellent - a short walk from Accademia Bridge and away from the hustle and bustle of all the tourists. You really do feel like it is your private getaway. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially Marco (sorry to single anyone out) who gave us the low down on sights, areas in Venice and directions to the boat that takes you to Marco Polo airport which is only a 5 min walk away. This is also a plus - the airport boat stop being so close to the hotel. It was especially lovely walking along the Canale Della Giudecca (along Fondam. Zattere Ponte Lungo/ai Gesuati/allo S.Santo, etc) in the evenings – lovely restaurants and views. I will definitely be staying at Ca’ San Vio next time I visit Venice and would highly recommend this hotel. A huge Thank You to all the staff at Ca San Vio for making our 5 days in Venice very comfortable and memorable. Best wishes, Juanita & Denver.

The rooms are tiny! So tiny the shower wasn't separated from the rest of the bathroom, causing the entire to flood everytime one took a shower. That's not acceptable. The staff was very nice, the furniture pretty refined, and the location is great. Breakfasts in the room - because there is no dining area - was only adequate. It is one of the cheaper three-stars in this part Venice, but I considered it poor value. Pay 20-40 percent more and get a real room. Doug
