The hotel was in a great location. Once found it was easy to walk to lots of attractions. The hotel accommodated 4 adults so the room was small but the view outside from our window of the water was perfect. The patio on the roof top was good. The breakfast was very good and lots of choices.

We stayed here for one night on a two day tour of Venice. We chose this hotel based on the "quietness" indicated by other reviewers, as we knew the crowds would be large and loud in the more "popular spots" within Venice. We do not regret our choice. The room was charming, very old world style. The bathroom was modern. The view of the canal was charming and we enjoyed the quietness and serenity of the area. A good choice for a good price. The Wi-Fi worked well which was an added plus. The gentlemen at the front desk were very helpful, however, there was a young lady who went on duty in the late afternoon that was not helpful. She seemed to think that whatever she was doing on the internet was much more important than answering patrons questions. The two young gentlemen on our last day helped me with an electronic connection to charge our depleted camera battery so we could get those last minute precious pictures to take back home with us.

The Location was lovely - nicely located with a vaporetto stop just a few minutes away, and an easy walk to the vaporetto stop to the Islands and another easy walk to St Marcos Square - and just one stop from the Rialto Markets I had a room facing the hotel court yard which is where people could smoke - so if you need very quiet I would suggest requesting a canal facing room. Smokers tend be a chatty bunch Breakfast was wonderfully long - but don't go down much more than an hour after it starts or the pickings get slim

A very pleasant, friendly hotel in a lovely quiet location. Public areas were slightly cramped purely due to the size of the building but this did not detract from our overall enjoyment. A lovely base for exploring Venice during our 3-night stay.

A haven of peace in the wonderful madness and charm of Venice. This was the first time we'd been to Venice and the hotel was just what we wanted. Our view from room 204 was absolutely perfect overlooking a quiet back canal with picturesque houses, bridges and boats, and our shared water taxi from the airport was able to drop us off right outside. My only gripe was that the breakfast coffee was tasteless and the orange juice way too sweet - both from a machine - but the fresh fruit and buffet made up for it and we stopped for some great coffees around Venice.

Welcoming and competence of receception staff is correct and friendly. Breakfast is marvelous and tasty. Plenty of choice. Double rooms are beautiful and like on the pictures. But single room is very small, wall to wall by nighbour building. Bathroom with small douchcabin but totally new renovated and everything very clean. Hotel location is perfect for all sightseeing tours by feet or boat. I´LL recommend the hotel as well.

The reason for the two low marks is that the public areas were rather small, which I understand is often the case in Venice. Also, the internet was very unreliable. The wireless internet only worked in the lounge and was very slow.

Our experience at Hotel Ca' d'Oro was very nice. The room was small (but most rooms in Venice are small, so this is typical). The location is fairly convenient to both the Vapretto and main sights in Venice. The staff was also very helpful and the breakfast was good - plenty to get one started for a day of sightseeing. I believe hotel to be a good balance in terms of cost/value.

This was the place my wife was hoping for...a quiet hotel on a quiet back canal. Excellent value in an expensive city. Easily accessed from the vaparetto - once you knew where you were going. Very centrally located. Internet access and wi-fi were a little hit and miss, but easily remedied with the help of desk staff...and that's not what we were there for. Sunsets on the roof with a bottle of wine and Andrea Boccelli on the ipod were a highlight of our 3 days in Venice!

We will certainly stay at Ca'd' Oro if we are fortunate enough to return to Venice. The staff was very helpful, making dinner reservations for us and providing directions— even suggesting a store where we could find a doorbell just like the one outside the hotel. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast selection lovely, the air conditioning refreshing, and although the rooftop terrace was small—what a view!

Booked two singles and were given one single and one double. Single on the small side but adequate - bed smallish but still OK for me (and I'm quite tall and wide!). Double OK in both respects. Both clean and well furnished. Roof terrace small and lacking shade so probably not one where you'd spend a lot of time, but good for smokers (which I'm not) or a brief spell of fresh air and a wider perspective across the city - certainly a bonus. Breakfast limited in range and variety but more than adequate and coffee machine delivered very acceptable coffee. Major drawback was the cramped conditions in the breakfast room, especially at busy times, so not somewhere for a long or leisurely breakfast. Location quiet but not far from busier areas and everywhere easily accessible - certainly better than near the station where much of the reasonably priced accomodation is situated. Overall a good and comfortable hotel for the money (given Venice prices) and would consider staying again and recommending to others.

Fantastic location not far from the Ca'd'Oro ferry stop although it can be a little tough to find. Highlight was the terrace on the roof, but the only down side to the hotel was no bar fridge which made it difficult to chill drinks. The staff did supply ice buckets however.

Small and comfortable hotelwith pleasant and helpful staff. Our room was spacious and clean with a view of the canal located at the back of the hotel. Within easy walking distance of the Rialto Bridge. Good, reasonably priced food and drink available in the neighbourhood. Hotel is relatively straightforward to find but I can see why others have had problems. Hotel has its own website and possibly clearer directions. Would stay here again and reccommend to others.

Very good location in Venice. Good area with small familial osterias in the immediate surrounding and two interesting stops of vaporetto : Ca d'Oro and Fundamenta Nove to go to the main islands of the Venice's laguna. Nice room after changing from that one which was reserved to us, we had with supplement price a double room with canal view! We will recommend this hotel definitely!

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel. It was well-located, easy to find, friendly helpful staff, nice breakfast in pleasant dining room. A small lounge to sit in and review our photos. We were on a photography trip with Tracks n Trips from the UK and it was ideally located to get to locations - walk easily to Rialto bridge and St Marks square. We had a 3 day pass for the Vaporetto, we caught the airport bus from Treviso and then hopped on the No 1 to Ca dOro stop, from where it was a 10 minute walk. It is close to everything but in a nice quiet backwater, canal-side. Pleasant room, but no view from window, quiet.

We stayed 3 nights in November 2008. We took the Vaporetto bus from Piazza Roma route 1 to Ca d'Oro from where it was a ten minute walk to the hotel. Lovely canal-side frontage (made a great night-time photo). Very welcoming. We were on a photo weekend with Tracks n Trips from the UK. Great welcome, lovely clean comfortable room (but no views from windows.)Great location for photography and our visit to Burrano was great too. We visited some lovely restaurants, great value, hand picked for us by Tracks n Trips. The hotel had a small lounge too for meeting and viewing photos of the day.

Next time I'll visit Venice I'll be sure to stay at the Ca' d'Oro again. The room was excellent, bigger than expected, modern bathroom, clean, quiet, very friendly staff. Only slight "downpoint" was that the breakfast was relatively small, but that's really not worth mentionning, you still get the usual continental breakfast with juice, butter, jam, honey, bread, corn flakes, yoghourt, so nobody's gonna starve. :)

The only thing I can fault is the website's map. We searched for an hour with two tired children before we found the hotel. The hotel's brochure shows an accurate map but the one we received from the website was totally incorrect. Update that and there should be no problems. The staff were terribly helpful in getting us two rooms next to each other and were very helpful with every request we made. Breakfast, a typical continental breakfast, was tasty and plentiful.

Great location! Their newly-remodeled rooms are very clean, quiet, and well-kept. We had a great stay eventhough our baby was sick and one of our suitcases was stolen on train from Rome to Venice. Breakfast was simple and same for every morning, but they are good enough to start our days. Staff were mostly friendly (except the young guy at the front desk at night). Highly recommend this hotel. Overall the hotel and service provided was very good. The room was, as expected, in an old city on the small side but adequate. A means of making hot drinks in the room would have been nice to have. The cost of the room was on the high side but again the hotel is located in a tourist centre where costs are probably very high. I would recommend the hotel to friends.

Ca d'Oro is a perfectly adequate, reasonably comfortable, air-conditioned place to stay. The staff are friendly and the hotel is well positioned to explore most parts of Venice, but this is a functional establishment rather than one with any 'soul'. The communal areas, including the breakfast room, are a little bleak and unwelcoming. Considering its site overlooking a canal, you feel Ca d'Oro does not made the most of its location. The single room I had was incredibly small, on the third floor and overlooking the tiny courtyard Corte Barbaro. Luckily, I know Venice and - arriving from Fondamenta Nuove - could find the hotel fairly easily and quickly (less than 10 minutes walk) , but I'm not sure how easy the directions are for those less familiar with the city. There was some confusion over whether the price included breakfast. Venere had told me it wasn't included, but actually it was.

The hotel had clearly been renovated to a very high standard; the room was good with air con but no fridge. Bathroom was well equipped. Conveniently sited for access by water bus and on a minor canal for water taxi pickup (necessary for early flight departure: expensive, but an excellent way to finish a holiday) Breakfast was simple but adequate. Staff spoke good English and were helpful. Well sited for bars and restaurants and yet near to the non-tourist areas which have more character.

A lovely hotel - small and tucked away, but in a great location to see Venice. We found it without any difficulty. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was beautiful. The air-con worked well. The hotel is advertised as having a bar, which is a slight overstatement. However, we were able to get a drink (from a very small selection) when we arrived parched from our travels.
