This was the place my wife was hoping for...a quiet hotel on a quiet back canal. Excellent value in an expensive city. Easily accessed from the vaparetto - once you knew where you were going. Very centrally located. Internet access and wi-fi were a little hit and miss, but easily remedied with the help of desk staff...and that's not what we were there for. Sunsets on the roof with a bottle of wine and Andrea Boccelli on the ipod were a highlight of our 3 days in Venice!

Great view from the room and very quiet. Hard to find and quite expensive (maybe not relative to other Venice hotels).

We will certainly stay at Ca'd' Oro if we are fortunate enough to return to Venice. The staff was very helpful, making dinner reservations for us and providing directions— even suggesting a store where we could find a doorbell just like the one outside the hotel. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast selection lovely, the air conditioning refreshing, and although the rooftop terrace was small—what a view!

Booked two singles and were given one single and one double. Single on the small side but adequate - bed smallish but still OK for me (and I'm quite tall and wide!). Double OK in both respects. Both clean and well furnished. Roof terrace small and lacking shade so probably not one where you'd spend a lot of time, but good for smokers (which I'm not) or a brief spell of fresh air and a wider perspective across the city - certainly a bonus. Breakfast limited in range and variety but more than adequate and coffee machine delivered very acceptable coffee. Major drawback was the cramped conditions in the breakfast room, especially at busy times, so not somewhere for a long or leisurely breakfast. Location quiet but not far from busier areas and everywhere easily accessible - certainly better than near the station where much of the reasonably priced accomodation is situated. Overall a good and comfortable hotel for the money (given Venice prices) and would consider staying again and recommending to others.

This is a great place. It's situated in a nice and quite area of Venice, still many restaurants in the area. Fair prices. I could definetely stay here again.

Fantastic location not far from the Ca'd'Oro ferry stop although it can be a little tough to find. Highlight was the terrace on the roof, but the only down side to the hotel was no bar fridge which made it difficult to chill drinks. The staff did supply ice buckets however.

The hotel is correct : well located to walk through Venice, quiet, clean and quite easy to find if you're not afraid of narrow small streets. It's not a palace, but the job's done if you want to enjoy the city.

Nice rooms for the price, close to most attractions. Lovely (small) roof garden for peace and quiet. Breakfast was quite poor, but overall, very pleased with this hotel!

Small and comfortable hotelwith pleasant and helpful staff. Our room was spacious and clean with a view of the canal located at the back of the hotel. Within easy walking distance of the Rialto Bridge. Good, reasonably priced food and drink available in the neighbourhood. Hotel is relatively straightforward to find but I can see why others have had problems. Hotel has its own website and possibly clearer directions. Would stay here again and reccommend to others.

Hotel is close to everything but in a nice quiet canal-side area. Only 5 minutes from Strada Nova and vaporetto stop and an easy walk to Rialto Bridge and St Marks Square. Spotlessly clean pleasant room. Nice fresh simple breakfast in little breakfast room suited me. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Very good location in Venice. Good area with small familial osterias in the immediate surrounding and two interesting stops of vaporetto : Ca d'Oro and Fundamenta Nove to go to the main islands of the Venice's laguna. Nice room after changing from that one which was reserved to us, we had with supplement price a double room with canal view! We will recommend this hotel definitely!

I had a "charming superior double room" for single occupancy - expensive but I need space. And it was very spacious, clean and quiet. The hotel is very conveniently placed for Fondamente Nuovo and Rialto. Breakfast was basic and unimaginative with poor coffee from a machine.

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel. It was well-located, easy to find, friendly helpful staff, nice breakfast in pleasant dining room. A small lounge to sit in and review our photos. We were on a photography trip with Tracks n Trips from the UK and it was ideally located to get to locations - walk easily to Rialto bridge and St Marks square. We had a 3 day pass for the Vaporetto, we caught the airport bus from Treviso and then hopped on the No 1 to Ca dOro stop, from where it was a 10 minute walk. It is close to everything but in a nice quiet backwater, canal-side. Pleasant room, but no view from window, quiet.

We stayed 3 nights in November 2008. We took the Vaporetto bus from Piazza Roma route 1 to Ca d'Oro from where it was a ten minute walk to the hotel. Lovely canal-side frontage (made a great night-time photo). Very welcoming. We were on a photo weekend with Tracks n Trips from the UK. Great welcome, lovely clean comfortable room (but no views from windows.)Great location for photography and our visit to Burrano was great too. We visited some lovely restaurants, great value, hand picked for us by Tracks n Trips. The hotel had a small lounge too for meeting and viewing photos of the day.

The view from our 1st floor window over not one but two canals compensated very well for the size of the room, which was tiny, but comfortable and more than adequate for our needs. Perhaps less enchanting without the view? Good location. A hotel to revisit and to recommend.

When we arrived very hot sticky and worn out (up at 3 for the flight), it was wonderful to be welcomed and they were on the phone to check if the room was ready even though we were well before the check in times. How many times have I been to hotels that wont give you the room until the check in time.......but it was ready and we had a joke with reception stall who were really friendly. A really good hotel, excellent staff, rooms and location. Nice fresh simple breakfast in little breakfast room suited us perfectly. I would love to go back another time and definately stay there

Next time I'll visit Venice I'll be sure to stay at the Ca' d'Oro again. The room was excellent, bigger than expected, modern bathroom, clean, quiet, very friendly staff. Only slight "downpoint" was that the breakfast was relatively small, but that's really not worth mentionning, you still get the usual continental breakfast with juice, butter, jam, honey, bread, corn flakes, yoghourt, so nobody's gonna starve. :)

The only thing I can fault is the website's map. We searched for an hour with two tired children before we found the hotel. The hotel's brochure shows an accurate map but the one we received from the website was totally incorrect. Update that and there should be no problems. The staff were terribly helpful in getting us two rooms next to each other and were very helpful with every request we made. Breakfast, a typical continental breakfast, was tasty and plentiful.

Great location! Their newly-remodeled rooms are very clean, quiet, and well-kept. We had a great stay eventhough our baby was sick and one of our suitcases was stolen on train from Rome to Venice. Breakfast was simple and same for every morning, but they are good enough to start our days. Staff were mostly friendly (except the young guy at the front desk at night). Highly recommend this hotel. Will stay there again when we visit Venice.

Overall the hotel and service provided was very good. The room was, as expected, in an old city on the small side but adequate. A means of making hot drinks in the room would have been nice to have. The cost of the room was on the high side but again the hotel is located in a tourist centre where costs are probably very high. I would recommend the hotel to friends.

Ca d'Oro is a perfectly adequate, reasonably comfortable, air-conditioned place to stay. The staff are friendly and the hotel is well positioned to explore most parts of Venice, but this is a functional establishment rather than one with any 'soul'. The communal areas, including the breakfast room, are a little bleak and unwelcoming. Considering its site overlooking a canal, you feel Ca d'Oro does not made the most of its location. The single room I had was incredibly small, on the third floor and overlooking the tiny courtyard Corte Barbaro. Luckily, I know Venice and - arriving from Fondamenta Nuove - could find the hotel fairly easily and quickly (less than 10 minutes walk) , but I'm not sure how easy the directions are for those less familiar with the city. There was some confusion over whether the price included breakfast. Venere had told me it wasn't included, but actually it was.

The hotel had clearly been renovated to a very high standard; the room was good with air con but no fridge. Bathroom was well equipped. Conveniently sited for access by water bus and on a minor canal for water taxi pickup (necessary for early flight departure: expensive, but an excellent way to finish a holiday) Breakfast was simple but adequate. Staff spoke good English and were helpful. Well sited for bars and restaurants and yet near to the non-tourist areas which have more character.

A lovely hotel - small and tucked away, but in a great location to see Venice. We found it without any difficulty. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was beautiful. The air-con worked well. The hotel is advertised as having a bar, which is a slight overstatement. However, we were able to get a drink (from a very small selection) when we arrived parched from our travels.

It is a charming hotel, with rooms confortable and specially with a bautiful view to a clean and quite channel. With the references they give in their confirmation it is not so difficult as described to find it. I really adored it, and recommend to drink a bottle of proseco looking to the beatiful view. The room has the best air conditiones of all the hotel I satayed during this trip. really excelllent

The Ca'd'Oro was a first-rate hotel in a wonderful area of Venice. The front desk clerk took on the job of helping us with lost luggage and arranging its speedy return. Since the hotel is a bit difficult to find, I'd suggest anyone arriving at night find out exactly where it is beforehand.
