Thailand, Dec 2009
I Just came back from my trip in Italy. This hotel is very convenient as it is so close to train station. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the room and the facility (for this price, i couldnt ask for more). The room space was good too and we have TV with English channels!!! (which i couldnt find in most of the hotels we stayed). Breakfast was ok (basic). The only thing i would comment is the staffs there who are not really helpful. If you have late departure (for train or whatever),THE HOTEL WON'T KEEP YOUR LUGGUAGES FOR YOU AFTER CHECK OUT. You have to pay 3 euros if you wanna leave it there and they will keep it for you until 3 pm. only. This is the only hotel in the area that doesn't keep suitcases for their guest, all other hotels do with free of charge and for as long as you need!!! (i have asked around since i had to struggle finding a place to drop off my suitcase). The staff was not helpful at all, not any kind of help was offered (my train left at 18.30, she just told me to find a place to keep my suitcases on my own). It's expensive to leave at the train station too so I ended up leaving it with the hotel on the opposite side (the only hotel that accepted to help us) with charge of 10 euros (for 3 suitcases). I really had a hard time. I didn't expect this problem at all since all i know was all hotel should keep the suitcases for their guests since we paid for the room already. ps. There's no elevator at this hotel and nobody to help you.

Hotel is perfect at this rate. Clean and quite, location very good, easy to find. Only thing is that the breakfast room is very small, we were 3 persons travelling together, and had to sit at two different tables every day. In the summer that would not have been a problem, since there is an outdour breakfast room too, with larger tables.

If you have problems climbing stairs with luggage, this hotel would not be for you. The 1st floor is actually the 2nd floor, etc. Breakfast was very good--all types of coffee, rolls, salami, cheese, yogurt, etc. Hotel in great location--very close to train station, bus station, and boat transport, restaurants and shopping. Can highly recommend.

The location is good (quiet street, near train station and central vaporetto stop). Breakfast was meagre and the room quite small. It was o.k. for one night, but I would not stay there for much longer.

This hotel is in very close proximity (approx 5 minutes away) to Santa Lucia Station and located towards the end of a small, surprisingly quiet street for Venice. Staff service was good (English spoken) with the rooms being comfortable, reasonable size and clean. As a word of warning, if the windows are opened in summertime in late afternoon / early evening, be wary of a possible influx of mosquito's. Breakfast was more than adequate, with the option being to eat either indoors or in a very pleasant open courtyard. The only slight negative is that the hotel does not have a lift, so this could create problems for persons with a large amount of luggage. Having stayed in Venice a number of times at different hotels, this hotel certainly represents excellent value for money by Venice standards and is ideal for anyone wanting a hotel close to Santa Lucia rail station at a resonable price.

Very pleasent hotel good value hotel for Venice. The rooms were nice and relatively spacious for Venice. The bed wasn't the best (but normal for Venice at this price), and the bathroom and shower were quite small. Note there is no elevator, this may be a consideration for some. Nevertheless, for the age of this city, it was a good room for the price. The location is very good. It's only a couple of minutes walk to the train station and grand canal ferry (no bridges). It was a further 5-10 mins to the bus stops (incl. the airport bus) and the car park (incl. car hire). Note you have to go across one bridge. If you haven't been to Venice, the bridges tend to have many small steps, which can be a bit challenging with suitcases. However, I think it's much better than taking bags on the ferries or paying for a taxi. Also, it takes about 30-40mins to walk from the hotel to Piazza San Marco. On the whole, a nice good value place to stay in Venice if you want to be close to the bridge to the mainland. Would stay here again.

My wife and i are non smokers , so we requested for a non smoking room. The lady was very accomodating initially. We decided to pay upon arrival because we're staying only for a night and we will leave the hotel early the following day. When we went to the room assigned to us,the room smells really bad ( strong smell of cigarette) !!! We requested for another room but the lady in the reception said there is no more available room and even questioning us why we want to be moved. LESSON: Dont pay yet until you are satisfied with the room they are giving. And there should be a strict no smoking policy in hotel rooms. And also, there's no lift !

Basic but clean, acceptable breakfast, friendly personnel. Lacks a propper shower since the one fitted in the bath cannot be used as a shower being so low on the facing wall and WITH NO CURTAIN!! Regarding the correspondence between the web page and the actual property only the pictures are accurate, the reception is not 24hours but till 10pm., there is not a luggage room although you can leave your luggage in the corridor between the reception and the tiny breakfast room. It is very conveniently located if you arrive by train and also to take the boats that take you to San Marco, Murano, etc. San Marco Square is withing walking distance (about 1 hour, we arrived at night and asked if it was safe to walk and we are glad we did because Venice is very beautiful by night and completely safe. I suppose that compared to other hotel rates in Venice Ca'Lucrezia is good value for money but even in Rome you can stay in a much better hotel for less money!! Venice is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE in every way, accommodation, food, transport, etc. it is a pitty that such a wonderful place make turists think it twice about visiting a second time!!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for budget(?) accommodation in Venice. It's great value for money considering Venice prices. The rooms are clean and quite well furnished, the breakfast good (fresh fruit would have been nice)and the staff friendly and helpful. The position is great whether you are arriving by rail or air and the area has lots of interesting restaurants - we recommend the Jewish one by the ghetto.

Hi everybody!i am from spain and my experience with this hotel was good. the location was so so so good! is 5 minutes waliking to the train station and in from more or less of Vapporetto. The surroundings was beutiful but: our room was in the 3th floor and so noise, for the air condition, we were 2 days and the first was so bad really. NO LIFT!!. but the room so clean and so nice and confortable. the breakfast the best, good quality in the food. Even noise and NO LIFT, i recommend this hotel cos the location really is good.

Tiny room. Old furniture. Beds are not comfortable. Bathroom was ok, but also tiny. Mediocre breakfast. The only good thing was the cheerful girl working at the front desk who spoke good English and was helpful with directions to major sites. Also, it is very easy to miss the street - it's a small scary gap between 2 buildings that nobody coming from North America would suspect of being a street (we walked past it several times before realizing what it was). The hotel is right next to the train station which is nice, but if we had to do it again, we would have spent more money and stayed at a nicer place.

We chose Hotel Ca' Lucrezia for its location nearby the railway station and vaporetto stop, and were very pleased we did as it was no trouble to find or to carry our luggage to our lodgings. It was also a great base for exploring this wonderful city. The hotel is modest in price and amenities, but was clean and comfortable and no more or less than we expected. Good value for money.

Ca' Lucrezia has the ideal location with its proximity to the train station and the famous Scalzi Bridge. Many eateries around so meals are always convenient. The room was just as shown on the web and was extremely clean, spacious and comfortable. Toilet was newly renovated and was clean and modern. Was finding the right time to propose to my finacee during our Europe trip, and Ca' Lucrezia just made the Venice leg that much more suitable! We definitely have fond memories of that stay and without a doubt, will stay there again.

Very good and warm welcome, very nice bedroom, good and sufficient breakfast. We got just one problem with the sink in bathroom - it didn´t flow out very well :o(. Shower has sometimes little water pressure but it shouldn´t be unusual in Venice... Everything was very clean (everytime we check the carpets and they were OK here). There are many different restaurants in the local vicinity. Very very close to railway station. Very close to airport shuttles...

Dull but functional, reasonably priced by Venice standards but not the quirky, elegant place suggested by the pictures. Dull but adequate breakfast in a slightly cramped room. In a nondescript side street but this meant it was quiet and in a minute you were on the Grand Canal.

If you are arriving in Venice by train and walking to your hotel, this hotel is an ideal choice for you. It is literally 4-5 minutes to walk from the railroad station to the hotel's front door. There are no inexpensive hotels (or anything else) in Venice, but this one seems to be a good choice for the price. There are five or six hotels on this little street, plus several trattorias. There is no elevator in this hotel, which is three stories high. The small walled and canopied courtyard behind the ground floor breakfast room is very pleasant, and the breakfast was quite complete for a continental-style breakfast. Desk personnel spoke English and were helpful regarding how to get to the airport, etc. There is a TV in the room, although only CNN International is in English. Hotel appears to have been remodeled in recent years. Based on my experience at Ca' Lucrezia, I'd stay there again if visiting Venice. Note: If paying by credit card, a 3% fee is added to your bill. (I had the same experience in Florence.)

Hotel very nice. Quiet and clean. The room (with its own bathroom) was spacious enough. In a tiny quiet street 1 street away from the train station. Walking distance to everything in Venice and there's also a vaporeto station (water bus) in front of the train station if you don't fancy walking. (Don't expect US motel size standard: it's Europe! everything is smaller here)

The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was good. All areas of the hotel were clean. There is no lift, so you have to carry your luggage upstairs. They are very close to the train station, St. Lucia. The hotel should give better diirections to find it. As you leave the train station, stay on that side of the canal, walk to the first side street, turn left and it is down the street. They had a sign in the window, but need a sign outside to mark their location. It is easy to get to everything from the Ca Lucretia. We would stay there again.

You have to visit Venice, right? But when you see the prices of most of the hotels, you almost decide not to. As you approach Hotel Ca' Lucrezia, you might think that your decision was not a good one, specially if you -like we- are programmed about alleys being dangerous. Well, relax, this is not the case. Besides .. location is great -just a few steps from train staition -specially considering transportation is so expensive in Venice. And ...rooms are great. O.k. no public areas. but.. who needs them being in Venice? Breakfast??? o.k. period. I highly recommend this hotel. - If you are lucky enough to find a vacancy.

We enjoyed our stay at Ca' Lucrezia. We were particularly impressed at the convenience of it's location to the train station, especially after seeing people rolling their luggage over the bridge and down many footsteps of cobblestone streets. Claudia was very kind to provide excellent directions by email before our travel. She was there upon our arrival and registered us quickly and efficiently. She also recommended an excellent choice for dinner that night. The room was very clean and the place was always quiet. We enjoyed pretty good breakfasts here too, which are hard to find in Italy.

We enjoyed our quick stay, we had 3 adults in the room and had 2 beds and a cot. The people at the desk leave at 10:00pm so when we went to make up the cot there were no sheets. So we had to use the blanket and a pillow without a case. Andrea, the owner is just like what another comment on here said, very nice to look at, but spoke very little english. The girl at the desk when we came in was very helpful and gave us great ideas to make our short stay fun. I would stay here again, the beds were comfortable the pillows a little hard. No stand up shower, so sat in the tub to shower. But very clean. Just to warn you if you get dropped off of at the parking area outside of city (usually if you fly in) you will have 3 bridges to carry your luggage over, and they are stairstep bridges, not fun at all. But if you are taking the train in or out of Venice, this is a perfect location, and no bridges to go over.

Sehr nettes kleines Hotel. Extremely convenient location on a small street within one block (a two-minute walk) from the Santa Lucia train station as well as the Ferrovia and Santa Lucia water-taxi stops on the Grand Canal. We left our rental cars at the Maestre train station and took the train for 1 Euro to the Santa Lucia station. The hotel is very close to relatively inexpensive restaurants, wine stores, gelaterias, and the usual tourist-trap shops and restaurants. There’s a bridge across the Grand Canal right near the hotel, and the Piazza de San Marco is about 30 minutes away on foot. We had three rooms (3, 3, and 2) on the first floor (there’s no lift, and no handrails on the stairs) for three nights. Rooms were clean and carpeted but not overly spacious. Good A/C in all rooms. One room had a tub (no shower curtain); the other rooms had enclosed showers. Bathroom space was adequate, with good water pressure and good drainage in showers. Claudio, the manager (whose English was much better than our Italian, and who the ladies thought was better looking than Fabio) and his staff were very attentive and helpful. Reception desk is open 8 am - 9 pm. Very nice breakfast 8-10 am with meats, cheeses, bread and rolls, juices, cereal, yogurt, coffee/macchiato/chocolate machine. A pleasant private outdoor patio is open from 8 am until 9 pm. Adequate power outlets in rooms. The advertised wireless-Internet service was “out of service” at all times, and the nearest Internet café (at 6 Euro per hour) was about 200 metres away. No refrigerators in rooms. We were unable to use international calling cards from our rooms; the nearest public phones were by the water-taxi stop. Rooms 101 and 102 (triple rooms) had fold-up third beds, with slats which tended to collapse when anyone sat on them. The hotel is only a 15 minute walk from Ganesh Ji, an excellent Indian restaurant. Checkout was fast and without problems. No problem paying with VISA.

I was pleasantly surprised by Ca'Lucrezia and the accurate description on the internet. My husband and I were most happy about the location. Arriving late into Venice the hotel was not more than a 5 minute walk from the bus/train station and right near the Grand Canal. We only had backpacks, but if you are travelling with large rolling luggage you will appreciate not to have to roll it across town or stand on the crowded water taxis. It might seem like a long way from San Marco square (which it is about a 20-30 minute walk) but we appreciated it. There were great restaurants near by and the main street was filled with shops and sidewalk vendors-we really enjoyed walking at night and seeing all the people. We were VERY pleased with the size of the room and the bathroom and how clean it was, plus it had air conditioning and a safe! The breakfast was good but coffee was not good, and we really enjoyed eating outside. The staff wasn't around much and if you get there late (like we did) you might have to get your key from the hotel across the way. If we ever go to Venice I would probably stay there again.

We had a lovely time at the Ca'Lucrezia. Even though we arrived way before check in time we were given one of our rooms straight away to freshen up which was very welcoming. Very near to the railway station, but in a very narrow lane which is really hard to find. No lift. Room was ok, clean and quite spacious. But if you save your luggage in the hotel after check-out, there is an extra charge of 6 EURO/room, which is not so comfortable although not a large sum.

This property is right next to the train station and all water taxis which is convenient. I thought the price was a little high but then Venice is high all around. There is no lift so specify you want your room on the first floor if you have heavy luggage. This was our only negative experience because we had to lug our suitcases up three flights of stairs. It was clean and newly remodeled bathroom. The breakfast was rolls, meats, cheese, and juice and coffee which was nice.

We were very pleased with our stay at Ca' Lucrezia Hotel in Venice. It has recently been remodeled and was new and very clean. Hotel was as shown on the website. It is a small, quiet hotel which has recently been tastefully renovated. It is also fabulously close to the station, so no need to lug your luggage halfway across Venice. Surprisingly the area was really quiet, which surprised me given how close it was to the station, main vaporetto points and the tourist route. Our room was nice and I have no complaints whatsoever about the hotel. Staff were helpful and there was a decent breakfast served in the lovely downstairs breakfast room and courtyard. Would thoroughly recommend the hotel to all. Only thing to look out for is that the hotel is not really well signposted, but it is on the left of the street about 100 mts from the water - i think opposite the hotel edelweiss or something like that name.

Everyone had warned that we would get lost in Venice travelling with four kids...we did, but had no problem finding this hotel as it is so close to the train station. This meant we could check straight in and leave our bags before enjoying getting lost in Venice. Rooms were clean and adequate but had many mosquitos and squashed mosquitos on the walls. We loved our time in Venice and were very happy with our two rooms in this hotel.

A very convinient location as the hotel is very close to the central station (2 min walking), to the bus terminal (15 min walking)and it's on the Grand Canal (vaporetto station: Ferrovia).

Extremely expensive during the carnival, but quite cheap comparing with others... Quite noisy. Very nice room, repetitive but very decent breakfast.

I think we would stay there again. We were surprised a little by the paper sign, but once we were inside, the accomodations were fine.

we were innundated with mosquitoes and had to spend an hour "securing" the room from being bitten before sleeping. Bring bug sprays and Cutter wipes.

everything is fine, but the room we stayed didn't have minibar, in that hot weather we could store our water and milk for the baby. They have a very poor breakfast buffet if you called it buffet...hopefully they can improve some those points, i would love to go back one day

The Hotel was very well situated close to the train station and 15 mins walk to St Marks Sq. The receptionist was welcoming and extremely helpful.Room was large and nicely decorated. My only quibble was the very small size of the breakfast room.

Hotel had no reception and no sign outside. After 10 minutes a lady from the hotel opposite tis this came and assisted us. The other hotel served breakfast and provided keys etc.

The room was a little small but it was very clean. It appeared that it had recently been renovated. No telephone in our room? But, for our trip, it didn't matter just the same. The staff was courteous and very helpful throughout our stay. The complimentary breakfast wasn't exceptional but it was adequate. Finally, the location was fairly close to the Venice main streets/thoroughfares. We would stay there again.

De tous les hôtels que nous avons connu à travers le monde, c'est la première fois que, pour garder nos bagages l'après-midi suivant le check out, l'hôtel demande 3 euros. Un détail peut-être mais très désagréable. L'impression d'être pris au piège.
