Great stay - good location, very helpful staff.

An excellent hotel! The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. Our room large enough, clean and well air-conditioned. The location is just perfect: walking-distance to the two areas of the Art Biennale and also to the vaporettos, but away from the tourist crowds at the San Marco district. Via Garibaldi, Viale Garibaldi and the quay are nice places for strolling among Italians living there. You can also eat and do some shopping there. We hope to return to this nice hotel.

Hotel Ca' Formenta owes much of its charm to its personnel--Alessio and Ricardo, two personable young men, make one feel quite welcome and looked after. The breakfasts were delicious and ample, the room clean and comfortable, and the location conducive to escaping the hordes of tourists. A great choice!

My husband and I visited Venezia for the first time and stayed at this rather cosy(not very big) but excellent hotel for five nights. Begining with the warm welcome at the hotel's private warf, we were totally satisfied with the hospitality the hotel staffs gave us, they were polite and always got ready to help us with the information we need. Because of the season there were few guests and we could choose the room we liked. The room we chose was in the annex building and with a bath-tub. In winter time this was our priority for Japanese. So we could enjoy warm and happy bath-time every night. Our room faced the Laguna and we enjoyed the sunset on the day of arrival. The returning way to the hotel from the center after the day's strolling around the city seemed a bit long though only 10-15minutes walk from P.S.Marco. Last two days we used vapporet L1 to Arsenale and this made us felt much better we could have rest on the vapporet. We would surely return to this hotel when we have another visit to VENEZIA.

An excellent hotel in an excellent position. It was our first visit to Venice and if we return, we will again choose this hotel. It is near to a Vaporetto station and a short walk to St. Mark's Square. Good views of the lagoon and island opposite hotel. Several good and not too expensive restaurants in street next to hotel (via Garibaldi). Reception staff speak English as do many Venetian traders. For a bird's eye view of Venice go up the campanile on the island of Giorgio Maggiore - opposite hotel. It has a lift, is cheap and no queues. The campanile in St. Marks Square is more expensive and has long queues. Venice is simply quite wonderful. For a complete journey down the grand canal, choose Vaporetto No. 1 from Piazzale Le Roma to Arsenale (the stop for our hotel).

The hotel is in an excellent location, two doors down from the Grand Canal. There is an entrance on the side canal for arriving and departing. The rooms and bathrooms are small but adequate. My only problem was the web page stated free entrance to Casino Municipale di Venezia and a free excursion to Murano Island. This was not mentioned on check in and I did not realize it until after we left the next day. It would have been a nice ending to our trip.

A lovely hotel - we couldn't fault it. The staff were all charming and helpful. Room 203 had a balcony with a view over the Lagoon, and the ambience of the Via Garibaldi with shops, restaurants and everyday life was colourful and all in all a wonderful place to be. We hope we can stay here again.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay a Ca' Formenta. We had booked 2 nights with lagoon view but were told on arrival that we could only have 1 night due to returning clients requesting the room. We would however be transferred to a junior suite at no extra charge and transfer would be dealt with by hotel staff. This was exactly what happened and the suite also had a lagoon view albeit not as good as the 1st one. As a bonus the suite had a bottle of prosecco in an ice bucket! Both rooms were clean and well furnished. Breakfast was an excellent buffet. Hotel staff were very helpful particularly with identifying suitable vaporetto for our early morning return. Ca'Formenta offers high standards at comparatively low prices and is whole-heartedly recommended.

Wife and I vacationed to Italy for the first time. Venice was our favorite place and this hotel certainly helped that experience. The staff knew the area and were helpful, the breakfast was fantastic, the room was clean and comfortable, not to mention quiet. Hotel is on the water and a couple bridges away from San Marco, but far enough away to find peace and quiet. Several good restaurants near the hotel. Water bus is the way to travel and is simply a 2 bridge walk from hotel (Arsenale stop on red line). I'd stay there again.

Nice location, about 10 minutes from San Marco. Located right outside of the tourist crowd about a bridge away. Overall, nice simple hotel with a high price.

This is the perfect spot to stay in Venice. Just a few hundred meters from San Marco, still sufficiently far away from the herds crowding the beaten track to enjoy the surroundings by the lagoon. Very friendly staff in a relatively new hotel gives you a better standard and more value for money than most three star hotels in la serenissima.

Nice hotel with friendly people. I got a very adequate travel plan emailed to get me from either one of the airports to the hotel. The room was not very spacious but very clean and properly furnished. There was unfortunately not wireless internet.

La camera che ci è stata assegnata era stretta e difficile da raggiungere, nella dependanche, colazione povera un po asfittica, mi aspettavo qualcosa di meglio.

This is a great little hotel, the staff are extremely helpful and the location is ideal as it;s slightly away from the main tourist drag but only a 10 min walk to the main square. There's a few ( very local ) good bars in the street and good places to eat which is fun. Many of the reviews will tell you that the rooms are small, well, dont under estimate this advice, whilst the room size is ok, and indeed amusing for while ( shuffling around the bed slideways trying to pass your partner can be fun ) it would get on my nerves after a long period of time, the rooms really are very small indeed, but, all hotel rooms in Venice are reasonably small thats Italy for you. Same goes for the bathroom trust me when I say the shower will leave you wondering about your dexterity ( you'll know what i mean). However, that said, for a few days this hotel is absolutely perfect i wouldnt necessarily recommend longer stays (over a week) as the claustraphobia may begin to seep in, but all in all, staff are very nice, room is well presented and clean, views are great, breakfast is good and we really enjoyed our stay..

Very good location wise, a couple of minutes walk from St. Marks square. Rooms clean and quite big. No noise at night time and fairly reasonably priced for Venice.

We loved the location (much quieter and more residential than the San Marco area, but still very close) and the view of the waterfront. The staff were extremely friendly and competent. We had a pair of adjoining rooms that could be connected to make a suite for ourselves and our young daughter. This is a wonderful hotel!

The hotel was perfect for me. I travelled alone, had never been to Venice before and wanted to feel safe and comfortable. Location was perfect, a little away from the crowds (too many tourists for my taste generally) but within easy reach of everything.

A small, friendly hotel conveniently situated just outside the main tourist area, but right on the lagoon. Interesting local shops and restaurants frequented by locals on Via Garibaldi - a change from very touristy San Marco area. To use the shower, you needed to be quite small (less than 90 cm waist)! We found it quite expensive, but then probably Venice hotels are generally more expensive than in other Italian cities.
