Hotel Reviews Ca' Centopietre
USA, Nov 2009
Astonishingly quiet. Non-touristy. Very convenient location - less than 10 minutes to Accademia, Zaterre, Guggenheim, etc. Excellent local services (restaurants, food/wine shops, Pharmacy, bank, book stores, etc.). Area used by locals - not tourists. Host is gracious and helpful. Great relief from overburdened St. Marks area. Do note that the property is exactly as mapped, but only a plaque and doorbell are obvious in that small cul de sac. All neighbors know where it is. "Dove Centropietre?" got me there immediately.

What a wonderful find! Excellent, central location. Great value for the price. Carlo is the quintessential host. As owner, he takes personal pride in his property and guests. Very engaging and helpful. If we return to Venice, we will definitely stay here again!

un hotel eccellente per il rapporto qualità-prezzo, per la sua collocazione e la facilità di raggiungerlo. Bello lo spazio riservato alla colazione e la vista dalla finestra. E' stata una visita molto gradita.

very warm welcome. if something didn't work everything was tryed to fix it. quite and calm hotel. of course on friday night some local drunk youngster may be louder than usual, but only if he or she finds the way to the nice hidden hotel behind accademia. and carlo running the hotel speaks fluent english, french and german. and of course italian, wich for italy is simply amazing. great little place

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in early January and were greeted by our charming host, Carlo. The hotel is located in an area of Venice which is still a local area, where children attend school and many Venetians live. The accommodation is elegant with a beautiful breakfast room. Breakfast is served by a very attentive Carlo and his assistant. Carlo has lived in Venice for over 30 years and offers a unique insight into Venice for the more discerning traveller due to his local knowledge. His customer service and interest in his clientele is exceptional. We would recommend this hotel to all travellers seeking a more boutique experience.

nice place to stay, friendly owner and very clean property; we had a very quiet room, not any noise or whatever. time was 20-26 september 2008; no entertainment available; we did not need it, Venice is beautiful enough!

The room was exactly as expected and perfect for our stay. The hotel is very well located - we really enjoyed the nearby Campo Santa Margherita. It's away from the mayhem of San Marco and still close to everything. Pleasant staff and surroundings. Highly recommended.

entrance is just an ordinary door down a side alley, no lights, bit hard to find. Fine once you find it.

THis was our first trip to venice and made sure we had a good map to find the inn. It is very close to the Academia waterbus stop so if you have a good detailed map you should be able to find - eventually! This is a lovely small hotel, run by lovely people. We stayed in the room with an external bathroom. This isnt a problem except because of the marble floors and walls it is very noisey leaving your room to get to the bathroom which is literally one step from the room. It did take some searching to find the door to this inn. There is a tiny gold sign just on the door, so dont expect flashing lights telling you where it is. You need to have a very detailed map and know the exact street number to be able to find it. But it is very nice and i would recommend for location, service and quality of the inn.

The very large picture on the wall of the bedroom completely overwhelmed the room, making it feel much smaller (and darker) than it was. Otherwise it was excellent. High points were the modern bathroom, the very helpful staff and the beautiful ceiling in the breakfast room - and I'm sure the terrace would be wonderful in summer!

The owner of the hotel is extremely kind and as helpful as he could be. The employees of the hotel definitely need some training. What I found to be really bad was the bathroom, it was so small and so badly "designed" that I could not even fit in the shower, every time I had to shower the whole thing flooded. Also there was mold all over the shower walls and curtain. I stayed there 4 nights and after the tiny bottle of shampoo and tiny soap I found there the day I arrived, none other was provided for the remainder of the stay.

This was our first stop in Italy. Finding the actual Hotel at first was difficult because Venice is a little confusing! Once we got there it was perfect. The location is very central to all main attractions. The hotel itself was very clean, the staff was very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Rooms were large and spacious and staff went out of the way to help us with getting to our next destination. Although we had read that the hotel was hard to find we simply followed the directions on the website. I'd advise people have the hotel number handy and staff would come meet you at the water bus stop. Almost everything is hard to find in Venice if you've never visited and many of the alleyways look the same!

This is a really charming hotel, only 6 bedrooms so this is more a B&B. The service offered is excellent (rooms and breakfast), and the hotel is very well situated is the Dorsoduro quarter (one of the best quarter for food, go out...), only 15 minutes by walk to reach the Piazza San Marco! The owner is really nice too, you can easily ask him some advices, restaurants... The only weak point is how to reach the hotel by night (Venise is very hard to find his way), once you know this is really easy of course! Only 2 min by walk from Accademia! (this is always right, right and right and you will see it). Our vacation was excellent, of course I recommend this hotel for everyone!

This is a small, well-maintained hotel tucked away on a little street in Dorsoduro. The decor is pleasingly bright, fresh and simple, some Venice hotels are all dark colours and heavy brocade which can be too much. The manager is a very pleasant and helpful person who will go out of his way to help you during your stay. He is not on site all the time but can easily be reached at the sister property nearby. A very nice hotel in my favourite part of Venice, I will definitely stay here again. And I agree with a previous reviewer, try the Enoteca ai Artisti on Fon. delle Toletta nearby - the food and wine are great.

The hotel is wonderful place to stay in Venice. It is one of the very few modern places in the small hotel category. The rooms, while not spacious, are reasonably large and the bathrooms are very nice. The rooms are tastefully decorated. The breakfast room is large, light and lovely. The breakfast spread was quite good. The web site photos are accurate depictions of the place. The location is terrific, very close to the Accademia Bridge but in a quiet (miniscule) square. The only negative is that the hotel is quite hard to find. It is accessed via a very narrow alley off a street on a side canal and none of the sales people in the stores on the adjacent streets knew where the place was. The maps on the hotel web site are a bit misleading about the details concerning exactly wherem it is. The instructions sent concerning bus or vaporetto travel to get to the neighborhood from the Tranchetto car park were very good but the instructions about the path from there to the hotel itself need upgrading (or alternatively perhaps a sign on the wall of one the adjacent streets as a bare minimum). The hotel manager was away when we arrived and the chamber maid who let us in had very little English (corresponding to our very little Italian) but we did manage to get our keys and drop off our luggage before setting off to see the city. I have not been able to confirm it but I believe we were overcharged by 10 Euros per room versus (we were two couples) our "guaranteed" Venere.com reservations.

Arriving late, we were very glad we called the hotel in advance. We never would have found it alone at night. Carlo was very accomodating and arranged for someone to collect us at the Academia bridge at a late hour. The rooms were clean, staff was helpful and friendly, and once you found the hotel, it was very convenient to a lot of sights on foot. The breakfast was filling and pletiful to start out a day of exploring.

Only difficulty was in finding the hotel, the directions are erroneous with respect to street names and wandering those narrow lanes with heavy suitcases was not fun - strongly suggest arriving during the early part of the day, to ensure assistance is available to find the place! However, the staff were quite helpful and very polite. Breakfast room was lovely, and the location was just fantastic, 10-15 minute walk from the San Marco piazza.

No flaws at all whatsoever. Helpful and service minded staff. This hotel will be something I'll return to. A tip: Don't miss the superb wine bar just around the corner. Love this part of Venice. It's just a bridge away from the over crowded San Marco-side.

Nice place near the Academia, very well situated. Beautiful dining room to have your breakfast, very stylish, but TOO HOT in summer (the air condition in the room was OK). The manager is very kind.

DISTANCES
From Santa Lucia railway station: 15 minutes by waterbus (lines 51, 61, 1).
How to reach Hotel Ca' Centopietre
By car
The property is easily reachable from Piazzale Roma, where guests can leave their cars. From Piazzale Roma, the structure is 20 minutes by vaporetto line 51, 61, stop Zattere or line 1, stop Accademia.
By train
From Santa Lucia train station you have to take the ACTV public water-buses lines 1 or 82, direction Lido, (around 30 minutes, €5,00 per person), through the Gran Canal, and get out at Accademia, or take the ACTV line 61, direction Lido, through the Giudecca Canal (around 25 minutes, €3,50 per person) and get out at Zattere.
We suggest: as you get off the public ferry (line 1 or 82) at the Accademia boat stop, face the Accademia museum. Go right around the building and then take the first right on Calle Corfù and
then Calle Contarini. At the end turn left and cross the first bridge in Calle della Toletta. On the first street on the right, you will find Campiello Centopietre.
By airplane
From Marco Polo airport you have to take the bus to Piazzale Roma Bus terminal (around 20 minutes) and from there you have to catch the ACTV public water-bus (vaporetto) lines 1 or 82, direction Lido, through the Gran Canal (around 30 minutes) and get out at Accademia, or ACTV line 51, direction Lido, through the Giudecca Canal (around 20 minutes, €3,50 per person) and get out at Zattere.
There is also a shuttle boat service called Alilaguna that from the airport takes directly to Zattere (in front at the Gesuiti church. It takes 1 hour and 25 minutes and costs €10,00 per
person. It is a long trip, but it saves you from going up and down from busses and water-busses with your luggage (especially if you have a lot of pieces).
