I read alot about people having trouble finding this hotel. But the directions we were given were perfect. We went straight to it from the train station. Antonella was great as the receptionist. She helped me with a few travel issues that I had and went above the expected with help. Our room was very small but for the price and the location it was good. The canal view was perfect and getting around the island was easy with our location. We would like to stay here again when we come back.

Basic facilities, but all clean and in working order. Staff friendly and helpful. Good location. Our room was on the corner and consequently we could always hear the street and the warning hoots of the vaporetti.

We actually did not stay, because we requested specifically two rooms with 3 beds, and the hotel did not had that available, but we were able to check out the rooms and they were small and had a very bad smell, as well as the rest of the hotel, there were dirty clothes in the reception, you have to bring your bags up through a very long staircase, no help and the owner was incredably RUDE. Thank God she could not accomodate our needs and had to request another hotel to recieve us.

Very basic accomodations. Breakfast included means a coffee and pastry across the street. If you can find better go for it, if you can't then it's not the end of the world. Save yourself the expense of the waterbus on arrival, just head left of the train station and continue on main street til you reach a plaza, go through to a small bridge and you have arrived. On the left is Hotel Marte where you check in.

We reserved Hotel Biasin but we stayed in Hotel Marte (which is across from Hotel Biasin). Everything was good and our room looked out the canal. The receptionist spoke very good English and gave us very good suggestions for our trip.

I've never seen such a dirty, filthy room. The washroom hadn't been cleaned properly on our first arrival, and the room itself was full of spiderwebs and dead bugs on the wall. Aside from the girl doing the welcoming, the staff was not friendly.

It is situated so near to the bus & train stations that a water taxi was unnecessary & expensive. The receptionist was excellent, welcoming, informative & spoke good English. We enjoyed having a view of the canal from our window. Nice, quiet park adjacent.

we stayed in venice for two nights. our room looked out directly over the canal. it was amazing, but be warned: if you're a light sleeper, the boat horns might wake you up at night or in the morning. there are a lot of stairs to get to the lobby, though, so this hotel may not be the best choice for people with limited mobility.

The Hotel is in a good place from Venice, and it is important that you have to do the booking in Marte Hotel, this is on the other side of the canal (in front to Biasin). The Hotel has a ugly facade (first view of the building), but the rooms in Marte Hotel are better than Biasin Hotel. The service is good and this is a good option for family vacations.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this wouldn't stay here again. We stayed here one night and found a much nicer place a short distance away for a lower price. When we first checked in, the front desk was staff person was friendly, but things went downhill from there. Hotel Biasin is on the other side of the canal from the Marte where you check in, and Biasin is left unattended. The lobby door was left opened and unattended all night, propped open with a brick, which didn't feel too secure. The numbers on the doors are written on scraps of paper and taped on, which isn't so awful, I guess, but was indicative of the way the rest of the place was maintained....lights didn't work and our room was freezing cold. When we phoned the front desk in the early evening for help getting the heat to go on, an elderly lady eventually arrived with an old blanket, but apparently heat was not a possibility. The toilet and sink were actually enclosed in the same room that was also the shower stall (like in a small yacht)...ok if you don't mind the floor and toilet being wet for a few hours after you have your shower. We are pretty tolerant travellers, but this was just really overpriced for the value, even for Venice. The morning after we moved hotels, we walked past the Baisin to see that it flooded during aqua alta...which may explain why the lobby was in such poor repair and the door was kept propped open...glad we didn't stay another night as we would have had to wade through the water in the lobby to get out. Perhaps this is the reason the owners seem to have abandoned the place, but it doesn't justify the prices they are charging.

Actually, we stayed at the Marte. We were originally booked into the Biasin, but the management put us in the Marte. Revue: overall, we enjoyed our stay. The bathroom in our room needed an up grade, badly. The shower curtain was not big enough to keep shower water from going elsewhere. Also, the lack of a floor pan in the shower meant the water drained into the middle of the bathroom. A good shower curtain would have helped. The steps up to the lobby were a bit of a trip on arthritic knees, no lift. A senior citizen with difficulties would find this hotel tough to negotiate. The location, however, was near the train station, grand canal, and provided easy access to the joys of Venice. The staff was excellent. I would stay there again, hopefully with a better bathroom. At least it WAS in the room and not down the hall.

The staff were very helpful and absolutely lovely. The hotel really is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the train station though you can take a Vaporetto if you want which drops you right there. The breakfast was at the bar on the corner next the hotel, the staff there were helpful and proficient, and the brioche and coffee were lovely. We were a family of 6 with children between 3 and 12 and we felt very welcome, we would stay there again if we were to visit Venice again.

The booking we made indicated that we were staying at the Hotel Biasin (Dipendenza Marte). What this means is that we were staying at the Hotel Marte. The Manager, and I think owner, speaks almost no English. She was not particularly helpful when asked questions. Rather than make an effort with limited English she just spoke to you quickly in Italian, so even with my limited Italian, it was of little benefit because she spoke quickly. The room stunk of rotting drains. There were mosquitoes in the room too. The acoustics were poor and the doors were very thin. The manager did the late/night shift and she was still talking loudly on the phone at three in the morning. I am too polite (or foolish) to go and ask people like that too be quiet, I keep thinking they will be respectful and shut up. Sadly, not the case. I would not ever stay there again, and I wouldn't want my least favourite person to have to stay there. On the up side, one of her staff was friendly. Thats about it though. My advice... stay away, very far away.

The bathroom was less than desirable. It wasn't a shower - it was a trickle (hardly any water pressure). And we were lucky to get hot water for as long as we did. Plus there wasn't really a separation (except for a curtain) between the shower area and the rest of the bathroom, which meant much of the floor (and especially the adjacent toilet) got wet every time someone took a shower. The walls weren't really thick enough to block out all the sound from the other rooms, which largely wasn't a problem, except we heard a couple having sex in the middle of the night one night (not very long to disturb us too much). Other noises we could hear well were people coming and going from the bathroom outside in the hallway and the boat traffic on the canal right outside the window (stop for the vaperetto). The breakfast the hotel provides was also less than desirable - a ticket for a pastry and hot drink at the nearby coffee shop. This place is way too small to accommodate both the general public and hotel guests every morning for breakfast. The service at this cafe was generally poor. There were 4 of us, yet they brought only 3 pastries and we had to explain that we needed food for 4 people. It was too small and too crazy a place to have a pleasant breakfast. To the hotel's credit: - I requested a bed for a baby. It was early afternoon, and I was told that the cleaning staff had already left for the day. But they managed to bring a bed later that day anyway. - You can't beat the hotel's location - a short walk from the train station (St. Lucia), right on a canal.

We stayed in a room with a bath. The windows were shuttered but opened directly to the roof. In the middle of the night, our "neighbors" climbed onto the roof and began banging on our shutters. This is when we realized we did not have shutters on the first window. When they returned to their room and turned on the light, we could see directly into their room. There was no phone in the room, making it impossible to call the desk without leaving our room. When the front desk was notified the next morning, we were told we should have called them when it happened. We DO NOT recommend this hotel.

LOCATION IS GREAT EXCEPT FOR NOISE OF CANAL - MANY BOAT HORNS DURING THE DAY AND DELIVERY BOATS AT NIGHT. THE INTERIOR IS SURPRISINGLY IN BETTER REPAIR THAN THE EXTERIOR INDICATES BUT THE CLEANLINESS WAS DEPLORABLE. THE SHOWER WAS MILDEWED AND THERE WAS HAIR ALL OVER THE FLOOR. THE BEDROOM HAD SPOTS, APPARENTLY BLOOD OR SOME OTHER BROWN STAIN, ON THE WALLS AND THE CURTAINS. THE BREAKFAST WAS SMALL BUT IN A QUITE NICE CORNER CAFE/BAR ON THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE HOTEL. ALSO, BEFORE TAKING LUGGAGE UP MANY STAIRS, BE AWARE THAT YOU MAY BE ON EITHER SIDE OF THE CANAL - IN EITHER THE BIASIN OR IN THE MARTA. STAFF, EVEN THOUGH OVERWORKED, WERE FRIENDLY. A THOROUGH CLEANING WOULD GREATLY ENHANCE THE VALUE OF THIS HOTEL. WE WOULD NOT STAY HERE AGAIN.

Don't judge a book by its cover!! The outside of Biasin looked typical of old Venice buildings but we were pleasantly suprised when we checked into our room overlooking the canal in Hotel Marte. Most of the staff understood English. The breakfast downstairs in the cafe was a nice touch - very italian. The only tip:- if you are planning to nap in the afternoon bring earplugs (our room was at the end of the hall near reception) as the phone constantly rung.

We were only welcomed by a note that said to call a number. When we called, an unfriendly voice told us to go across the cannal to Hotel Marte to check into Hotel Biasin. There we had to wait a long time for a lady who was strugling with her English to help another guest. The room was clean but unpleasant. No amneties; not even a TV. Venice is a very interesting and unusual city. But, this hotel was the lowest quality hotel among all the hotels I had chosen in Italy and the price I paid was the highest of all in Italy.

But what i got suprised is that one night i went back to hotel requesting my passport& other important documents deposited in front desk.there was an other guest's passport put up on the table without staff there for long time. after an old lady staff came out , she lied to us said it was hers. once we requested ours. she used a wood stick search around the ground under the front table and got it. we was shocked.

We were pleasently surprised with the hotel as it was quiet cheap for it location and the rooma nd view were exactly as pictured. The hotel is right at a waterbus stop which made the whole area very accessable. We were a bit surprised that the hotel reception is accross the river and up 3 flights of stairs but once you dont have to visit that often it was fine. The rooms were very basic but extremely confortable. we did not manage to find the breakfast room and did not get any help from recpetion when we called to ask where it was served. Overall we were very happy with the hotel and its location and would definatly recomend it to anybody heading to Venice.

This is actually 2 hotels, across the canal from each other (we were lucky we were based in hotel Biasin as it was directly in front of the 'boat stop', so we didn't have to drag our cases over the bridge to the other hotel called Hotel Marte). Be warned Hotel Biasin is a warren of rooms. Hotel Marte has several flights of stairs to reach it (3rd floor), but had better quality rooms. Our room overlooked the canal, so was a bit noisy. We wished to change rooms, but the staff were not very organized in fulfilling our request, which was quite inconvenient. The breakfast was very basic, but nice.

Overall a pleasant stay at Biasin! The outside surroundings of the hotel and the lobbies, stairways etc. looked a bit shabby at first, but the room itself was clean, cozy and spacious enough (except for the bathroom, which was quite small and its shower was designed in a very interesting way, right in the middle of the roof). The service offered was very friendly and welcoming, and the people were ready to help if necessary. The room was not completely quiet, but that wasn't expected, as the hotel is located in the middle of Venice, just next to Grand Canal. However, I slept very well, without interruptions. Considering the low price, the better-than-expected-quality, really friendly service and the central location of the hotel, I would recommend Biasin (Dipendenza Marte). It seems quite ideal for people whom wish to visit Venice but whom do not require extra luxuries at the hotel. As there is no elevator, I would'nt recommend the hotel to people with walking difficulties (but on the other hand, in that case I wouldn't recommend whole Venice: the bridges and alleys are not very suitable to people with handicaps).

I recommend this hotel to everyone. The location is very good to whom is heavily loaded with luggage, as it was my case. It's near the train station. The only bad thing about this hotel is the fact of there are 2 different places, one in each side of the canal. I had to cross it twice to reach the hotel.

We stayed in Biasin for 2 nights in a triple. There are a lot of pluses, like surroundings (our windows faced the Cannareggio chanel), the train station Santa Lucia (if you travel by train), a lot of bars, a supermarket and a vaparetto stop (a river bus). Location is perfect and prices are fair. Ask reception girl for included breakfast (a cup of espresso and a croissant in the nearest cafe), because she forgets to say you about it! :)))If you are a bad sleeper - mean seagulls screams, fishing in the morning.

Good: This hotel was clean and had a fun atmosphere outside in a great location. The free breakfast offered the best chocolate croissants EVER. Bad: We were supposed to stay at another hotel and was placed in a different one. They made us pay cash, tv was broken, no hot water in shower sometimes, not good if you wanted to rest. Summary: it was fine for me and my teenager, but I would not stay here with my husband.

Nice people working, but we went first to Basin on the other side of the canal. The second day we had lunch in the restaurant under the hotel. They had nice tables outside and the man serving us was very polite until we had to pay. We knew that there was 1,5 euro per person and 12 % up on the price. He got that and 7 more but he said he must have more. He got 10 more. It was an expensive lunch. Don´t recommened this place to other guests. We payed 120 euro for four salmons, two beer and half a bottle wine (the houses cheepest)
