Though it is a bit tricky to find but it is charming, quiet and seconds away from shops, restaurants and main road artery.

It is a bit too far from main sights unless you don't mind walking. Do not go for the shared toilet option, you'll regret it...no details necessary on this ;). Breakfast is buffet style and only 5EUR which is cheap for Venice. For the price is just OK...not too far from the vaporetto, but I wouldn't buy the pass...all of venice is worth walking and the tickets are a rip-off.

We were given a room in a separate building of the hotel, and it was actually a 5 star accomodation: large, clean and well furnished; bathroom with window. We had chance to give a look to a quadruple room in the main hotel building (they originally gave us that one): not so spacious, bathroom without window (and without bidet... a MUST for an Italian hotel). Fortunately the previous guests were so turd to smoke in the room, and there was an orrible smell of smoke. For this reason the room was changed very kindly. My opinion is that for the price paid the final accomodation was superb; wouldn't say the same for the accomodation into the hotel building. I suggest to agree preliminarly BEFORE with the hotel personnel in order to get a room in the annex.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Bernardi Semenzato. The owners were friendly and helpful, the location was excellent, and the room was adequate for our needs. I was worried from the comments of previous customers that we would have trouble finding the property, but we didn't have any difficulty. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers.

The room was excellent with brilliant airconditioning as the temperature outside was mid 30s and very humid. We stayed in the annexe which we would recommend to anyone staying in Venice. The only negative was that the breakfast room in the main hotel was to small for the amount of guests-also no plates! We ate our food off serviettes-bizarre. The location was fantastic with all main areas such as San Marco Piazza, within walking distance. We ate out nearby as there are plenty of restaurants and cafes. We would recommend the Vaporetti to get to the hotel, we would have got lost without it.

The people and the hotel were genuinely gracious and comfortable. We booked late, so our room was larger than we needed...but welcome after the train ride and walk. More hotel should provide this level of unpretentious accommodation.

We very much enjoyed our stay here - good location, lovely rooms and friendly staff. The only disappointment was breakfast, which was mostly out of a packet. A little more choice of fresh fruit and bread would be definitely improve the experience.

I would get exact directions before going, this was very hard to find. We took the Water bus and should have taken a water taxi, though the taxi's are expensive, the taxi would have taken us right to the location. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and even arranged for us to go to Marano Island to the glass factory. I would stay here again.

The proprietor, Leonardo, is very knowledgeable and welcoming. The hotel is well located by the Ca D'Oro and is pretty central. The breakfast is great for European hotels. Rooms are small but adequate. I enjoyed my stay here but felt that prices were slightly above average.

Justa información ofrecida por el hostal. Aunque la situación es algo escondida, está cerca de todos los sitios. Las habitaciones son ammplias y limpias, solo que el baño es compartido (es la única incomodidad).

well, one of the worst hotels, if not the worst, we have ever stayed during our trip in Europe. The location of the hotel is exetremely far away from the train station, we walked more than 40 minutes to reach the hotel, while the information given by the hotle shows the hotel locates 10 minutes walk distance from the station. What a big LIE!!!! and the indian reception repeted this LIE when we inquired him after our 40-minute walk!! for Chinese travellers:ZHE GE JIUDIAN TAI CHAJIN LE !! LI HUOCHE ZHAN FEICHANG YUAN!!

Not sure I'd call it two stars. The wireless internet only works in the lobby. No elevator (and there are 4 floors.) Make sure you know where you're going before you get there - no one in Venice knew where anything was. Practically no selection at breakfast either. Non sembrava un'albergo da quattro stelle. L'internet funzionava solo all'entrata.

I would definitely recommend this hotel, since the relationship between price/quality was very reasonable, at least what I've heard and read about Venice's usual hotel rooms worth the same price we paid for a double room. Room was clean, toilet was quite recently renewed and the room was cleaned daily. There was also an airconditioner in the room, and it worked well to guarantee a nice stay in hot Venice (we stayed in the late July). The only minuses comes from the cleaning lady starting to clean the corridores very early, and the sounds got easily through to our room. Breakfast didn't include in our deal, but we ate it once (price 5 €), and were a little disappointed.

While it is a nice place with reasonable service and passable qualities, the Bernardi Semenzato hotel lacks enthusiasm. While it is barely a tangible thing, no employee of the hotel seems to care about the job they do. The building itself is, while functional, a bit disorderly (slightly tilted stairs, dirty spots on walls, scratches, scuffs and scrapes apparent in furniture). However, all this was nothing compared to the stench. Perhaps this is a temporary problem, but for the last three days of our stay, the entire hotel reeked of sewage. What's alarming to us is that, after a days of this disgusting smell, we saw and heard no work being done or efforts made to fix it. Annnd the walls are so thin that we could clearly hear the screams of babies, the fights of friends and certain animal noises emanating from the rooms surrounding us. Perfectly normal, no doubt, for young couples travelling in Europe, but that doesn't help the fact that it is difficult to sleep when the noises from your neighbors are clear to hear.

Delightfully pokey. Great coffee, and good spread for breakfast. Had to wait to use showers or bathrooms, which was a little frustrating. Place has a lot of personality. But is not luxurious. Good value for money, especially considering Venice as an expensive destination.

Only issue we had was first day we arrived, hotel employees entered our room while we slept! Not sure why they did or what the issue was, we were so shocked we watched them walk out and said nothing. It may have been they weren't aware it was occupied, saw it was once they entered and then left? Otherwise the rest of our stay was fine. Nice clean air conditioned rooms, nice size, and close to main passage area.

Overall it is a clean, neat room that is a reasonable size for Europe. A couple of things - we booked a quad room and emailed prior to confirm that we could have 4 adults PLUS two small children in the room if they shared our bedding. After receiving confirmation of this, we were told otherwise upon arrival and had to purchase two rooms (one triple and one double). After this mis-communication, evrything else went smoothly as the hotel has a good location albeit a little difficult to locate due to Venice numbering...

Rooms are not large and the walls are thin so you might hear your neighbours but this is to be expected from a very old building. The breakfast area is small so you may have to wait for your turn. Apart from these small matters it is a very charming traditional hotel with very friendly staff and it is very conveniently located. We enjoyed it greatly.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. We had a quad room with a bathroom. It was a good size and we felt fairly comfortable. We were actually in the annex, which was just fine. We were able to come and go as we pleased. My only complaint is that our room was by the stairs and it was very loud as people were coming in. I don't fault the hotel for that though, it just worked out that way. All in all, a very nice stay for a very reasonable price.

Great location, away from the tourist buzz with more access to local pubs/bars/shops. The rooms are small but clean. The downside to this place is the very bad noise insulation. We could hear the person in the adjacent room snore! In the morning, we were woken up by people flushing toilets, taking showers, chatting and finally the cleaning team's brooms and hoovers. Not good if you want to sleep late (9am...). Venice is otherwise quiet at night (no cars) so noise from outside not a problem. The evening receptionist was not friendly at all (did not even smile) and smelled bad - making the reception not very welcoming.

I stayed in this hotel with my parents and sister, in one room, shared facilities and it was absolutely fine. We went for a budget accommodation, basically needed a place to sleep without being particular about the quality. Our room was simple and fairly small, but very clean and well maitained, towels changed every other day. Also common bathroom was cleaned very thoroughly everyday (our neighbours were pigs... but the hotel fixed it everyday). We did not get breakfast in the hotel because it was not included in the price. But there are many options around. There is also an excellent family restaurant few steps from the hotel (Casa Mia-fully recommend). Hotel staff was knowledgable, able to recommend eating places and trips to make. I cannot comment on other rooms,I only saw one with a double bed which was small but i would not mind staying there. As for the directions, disregard those on google maps, i printed it prior going there: was very confusing. If you want to walk from the station, the best is just walk on the main route, with the crowd-basically go with the main flow- till you get to ss.apostoli sq., turn left and then the second small street left again (one opposite of ss.apostoli church) and you are there. it takes 15 minutes of slow walk. All in all, we were very happy with our hotel choice, was so near to everything (ponte rialto, san marco square), while paying reasonable price. It is not luxurious and indeed, you have to walk narrow steps two flights up without an elevator. Also, rooms do not look like those on the website but were ok, as far as we were concerned. I would not stay there if I wanted something super nice and romantic, though. But would stay there again for the price we paid (99 EUR per room per day).

This hotel was in a great location. The first night's stay was a little sketchy, but when we finally got into our room it was nice. I would recommend getting a room with your own bathroom because the hallway bathroom left a lot to be desired. Also, according to the hotel, the breakfast was not included because I booked through venere. That wasn't a big deal, just something else to think about in the mornings. The location couldn't be better though.

The hotel was quiet and clean. Good air-conditioining. No lift/elevator. The rooms had nice showers. It is located in a quiet area and around great eating places. After going to Florence we returned to rooms that were located in the annex building which were also very nice and quiet.

The room was large and was nicely decorated and furnished. The bathroom was large and clean. The hotel was at about 300 meters from the Rialto bridge. This is about all the nice words I can say. The welcoming was extremely unfriendly - the checkin clerk (indian or pakistani) was monosyllabic, i had to drag words out of him; he didn't smile once. The hotel's wifi only worked at the lobby, so was pretty much useless. The airconditioning was barely working. There was no breakfast included in the price(although the website was mentioning it, they said that the booking through venere didn't include breakfast). When first entering the bathroom my fiancee found a huge pubic hair in the middle of the supposedly clean towels. I understand service is bad throughout all of Venice, but I only have this hotel as reference. For the big price I paid the least I could expect was a smile at check-in and breakfast. I'll definitely not stay here again.

Folks, LOOK NO FURTHER!!! This place is GREAT for the price. It's relatively close to everything and is excellent. I live a BLOCK from the beach in Laguna Beach California and it was good enough for me. Stay here. I've read the reviews and here's some clarification. ONE, if you want an American Style Breakfast, don't come to Italy. It doesn't exist here. A snack and an espresso is how it works here. Yet, this hotel provides a "decent" little breakfast for the must have chow hounds. Directions, get on the water bus, exit "Ca D'Oro", and your CLOSE. Grab the address and print a map on the internet BEFORE YOU LEAVE and you'll find it. Don't print a map, and walk around like a moron. The ANNEX is where we stayed and it was NICE. Marble floors, marble bathroom, nice windows, quaint. Get the Holiday Inn Hotel idea out of your brain. You are in VENICE. Hello??? Stairs. If you can't carry your luggage up a flight of stairs, you better leave some stuff home. This applies for ALL of Italy. Pack ONE SMALL BAG and forget about it. Capice??? ONE SMALL BAG, TRUST ME. Bandits hide out on the Water Bus. Too many bags make too many targets. Despite this, Venice is THE safest city in Italy. I traveled the whole boot and Venice is THE best and safest city in Italy, hands down. No cars, walk everywhere, very romantic. Stay THREE nights MINIMUM. A/C. If you can't live without A/C, either don't come to Italy OR bring a wad of cash with you for your hotels. No English TV. Hey, you're in ITALY for crying out loud. Hello??? Get your butt OUT of the room and get walking. Bring good shoes too. GOOD COMFORTABLE SHOES. Mean people at the front desk??? This is bull crap. The staff was WONDERFUL. If you're a meatball tourist, seriously, get a room for 200 Euro somewhere. You'll get the SAME thing and you'll have a REASON to complain because of all the money you spent on a place to sleep.

Fair room: reasonable sized and clean, english speaking staff, nice neighborhood. In our floor, the shared bathroom had the shower and the toillet aparted, wich is clever. The shower is very small, with courtains that didn´t go all the way to the floor level resulting in a soaked floor and making it impossible to dress inside. Breakfast is additional E$5/pp, italian style (no fruits or cereal). If you "have" to go to Venice, this is a good option for a not so absurd pice. Important to say: there are no eleavators, and you will have to drag yourself (plus luggage)up very narrow stairs - but again: that is the same all over Italy (on piazas, museums, metro stations...everywhere!).If you don´t have strong legs, you probably shoud think about going to some place else.

Decent enough place, staff were mostly pleasant, good location. However: Breakfast was included for "those booking directly w/ Semenzato, but NOT for Venere customers," answered the clerk when asked. !? The included internet access was only for the 1st 10 minutes, after which one would be charged. No map was offered (an absolute necessity in Venice), but was reluctantly handed over when I asked for one. The shower pressure was no match for my sister's thick hair, while the temperature was... er... variable. Also, the midnight curfew (the front door is locked until morning) would be a problem for those thinking to stay out late.

The hotel can't be found easily using the map. However, I asked one of the locals which directed me to the place. The girl at front desk was very pleasant. This hotel was in a central location within 10mins walk to the railto bridge and san marcs square. The only problem with the room that we stayed in, is that there was no lift and we had to lug our baggage up the stairs (2 flights). However, this is the only down side, it is right near the vaparetto and easily accessible, it is located in an alleyway just off the main street and is in a quiet location with a nice view of the canal. The rooms are very spacious and the shutters on the windows keep the room dark (are able to be opened).

Very weird place. We arrived and were told that they were "half-closed" that day by a grumpy man. No idea what "half-closed" meant, except that perhaps they wouldn't be around, but that we could still be there. When checked in, they seemed to have a lot of trouble finding the room we had booked and changed the initial booking slightly. We were then taken out of the hotel and walked down a back alley and 5 mins down the road to get to the house like looking building which had our rooms. Rooms themselves were quite nice, and very spacious. Seems they may have been recently renovated. Note if you have bags there is no lift so you will be walking up a couple of flights of stairs. Good price though for accommodation in Venice.

The hotel was situated about 10 minutes walk from the train station in Venezia. Map that was supplied was easy to read and led us straight to the hotel. There were plenty of restaurants and shops within vicinity food was fantastic. Close to sights of city. Enjoyed city and experiencing culture. Would recommend Hotel Bernardi Semenzato for someone who doesn't want to stay in 5* accomodation but wants to stay somewhere that is clean tidy and in a good location. Staff spoke exellent English far better than my Italian. Has all the facilities one needs to enjoy a holiday.

I would not stay here again. Hotel was hard to find. We were put in an "annex" of the hotel, and got lost every time we walked to and from our room to the lobby!! The owner and woman behind the front desk were very unfriendly and uncooperative. The airline lost our luggage, and we weren't even allowed to use the hotel phone to make a LOCAL call. Had to go to a payphone outside to call the airline. Phone in the room did not work at all. Staff very unhelpful. Terrible experience. Five euros for breakfast, which was not worth it.

Impeccably clean - which came as a pleasant surprise, and excellent price - at least in low season. PS Hate the insistance of venere.com that one responds to all the questions! How on earth am I supposed to know about the "type and number of available rooms? Since I am not going to put high marks for the things I do not know anything about this might have brought down my overall grade to this hotel. But the bottom line is: I was happy with it.

Don't think of walking there from the main train station, it's a mission impossible! Take the waterbus instead. From the station with a word 'Oros' (can't remember correctly) it took us about 5 minutes to get to the hotel (we had 2 huge suitcases)The hotel's reception was located in an alley, but we got a room somehwere away from the reception, which we needed to walk pass some other alleys (it looked very dangerous but it turned out to be alright) There was no elevator. We had a double room with a shared bathroom on the floor. The bathroom was clean and it was always available for use. The room was ok and clean, yet using the air-con required us to open the windows as the gas pipe needed to go outside through the windows. As our room was on the first floor we weren't dare to open the windows, but the air-conwas functional. We didn't have the breakfast there so no comment on that. Overall I think it would be better if we could get a room in the same building with the reception but the room we got was fair.

Excellent inexpensive choice for Venice. We had a room without a bathroom in the Annex, which was lovely - very nicely decorated and fantastic value. Good location too.

Must have AC, no air flow in tiny window that looks out to nothing. Room had a nice light above the bed.

Booked at short notice over the internet, and arrived in Venice to one of the nicest hotel rooms i've stayed in. A massive room, with chandelier, charming furniture and a view over the canals, for a fantastic price. Wholeheartedly recommend, especially as its only a short walk from both the Piazza San Marco and the train station.

We paid extra for a room with a shower, only to have our shower not work at all. When we noted this to the staff, she said she was too busy to look at it, but if she got around to she would. It was not fixed, and they only gave us a paltry credit for it being broken. As we waited to check out, the woman before us had been offered compensation by another employee as they had to move her, and she was having to fight to get it, because that employee wasn't there. Poor service.

Relationship prize/quality was excellent, the best we could get in Venice(78€ with bathroom during high season)!!! Very well situated, you get there directly with Vaporetto 1 from Piazzale Roma or from Central Station. Nice, clean rooms. All together we were very satisfight and we would definitely recommend this location.

it was kind of annoying that we had to move from the main to the hotel to the annex... other than that the place was nice and the woman at the front desk was very helpful.
