The reception staff was very friendly and helped with indications. The Hotel was clean and nicely arranged. The breakfast did not have a big variety of food, was for german expectations quite poor in offer. If we come back once in Venice, we will for sure go back to this Hotel again. Price - Quality (for Venice Standards) is ok.

Nice small Hotel, very loud at night, the shower only has cold water but everthing was clean, we had the change room but it wasn`t taggic, for a short visit in Venice is enough, small but clean and near to Rialto.

Enjoyed our stay. Venice is expensive, and value is never to the standard available elsewhere. That said the rooms were adaquate, very clean and the staff friendly and unintrusive. The Hotel location is in an small lane, a metre and a half wide, but it is 'authentically Venetian' if you want to experience that, and stands between the heavily travelled tourist areas and the those where ordinary Venetians live. So location wise, and on a budget, excellent. Also plenty of normal shops and a supermarket nearby for food and other necessities. As with all things, expensive for a family of four, but I would recommend it for a low frills stay in Venice.

Location was quite good - within walking distance to both San Marco and the train terminal. Very close to a vaporetto stop also. We especially liked the in-house free wi-fi. That made the stay extra special.

Well, giving feedback is always a subjective issue and depending on what a commenter/reviewer is expecting of. We, my wife and me, visited Venice for carnival and celebrating our 15th anniversary. As well travelled people we know many standards, sometimes we are missing the -* (minus stars). But we were surprised about Hotel "Bernardi Semenzato"! We had a warm welcome and check-in went fast and fine. As I know from earlier trips to Italy, rooms could be quite small, I booked a 3 bed room, so we had plenty of space for all our stuff. The room had a charming, Venetian flair, comfortable and was well heated, - 3°C outside is normal for February. What could be necessary to know for handicapped travellers: the hotel has 3 floors, ground floor, 1st & 2nd floor but NO elevator. You have to use the stairways which are quite small. We were also surprised that we had no noisy nights in or outside the hotel and this in carnival season. But maybe this was because of drinking some wine and cocktails ;) The stuff at Hotel "Bernardi Semenzato" was always competent, informative and helpful. We got all information and things we are asked for. Also they informed us that we had to stay in hotel on Monday the 11th, because of Aqua Alta. The high tide in Venice. The water level came up to 40 cm inside the hotel! But this is a “usual” thing in Venice. If you will walk outside you need rain boots (we had to buy some :() best would be the higher ones up to the hips, because water raises very fast. We recommend Hotel "Bernardi Semenzato" for a value for money stay in Venice, as a good starting point for sightseeing through the streets of Venice. We will come back in summer and stay there again.

We stayed for carnival, the whole city was packed and we found this hotel on budget. Great location, near enough to everything (including a vaporetto stop) and silent enough to get a proper rest. good basic breakfast, great coffee (don't blame the hotel, Italy is not the best on breakfast options). Good choice, I would come back.

We were on our honeymoon and I really should gone up a notch. The place was what you’d expect given the price and location in Venice. The main thing (and this is not the hotel’s fault) was sharing the bathroom. If you’re backpacking through Italy, then this place would have been fine. But if you’re hedging between this place and somewhere else given the expense of Venice, then at least consider somewhere else. Again, I am well-travelled and this is not a major fault of the B&B. They cater to mostly back-packers/more modest travellers (which we are). But there were a few things which we didn’t like. First, they never checked our ID when we asked for a room key. And I only saw the same person at the front desk twice (meaning I’d never seen the person before and they just gave me the key). Now I understand that this policy is fine the vast majority of the time (I’m not paranoid and fully understand that a thief wouldn’t come in to a hotel and ask for a random key in the hopes of scoring something big). But we just didn’t like this out of principle. It’s not much to ask for something, even a name, when the hotel front desk is giving a key to a room. Another thing was the noise. We were given a room facing the alleyway of the hotel entrance. There was a wine bar right across and it was fairly noisy until about midnight. Not a big deal, but was a bit annoying. And finally, one of the hotel staff gave us a recommendation to a restaurant that was unquestionably bad. She gave us a very believable schpeel about how she eats there, the staff are nice etc. She also told us to tell them (i.e. the restaurant staff) that the hotel sent us. But “only so that they treat you well. We [the hotel] don’t get anything”. We actually didn’t tell the restaurant, but they had the worst food we ate in Italy. Now we have travelled all over the world and will eat anything (and I don’t say that lightly). The food was certainly edible. But th

Good location, good value. We got a room at their annex location, which seems to be better as the room was spacious and we did not have to leave the key at the reception. Free Wifi was a good plus. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, but overall it was a pleasant stay.

I love Venice and hope to come back again. I would definitely consider staying at Bernadi Semenzato again. The location is very convenient. We stayed in the annex which was perfectly fine. The room and bathroom looked recently renovated. I loved the furnishing, so Venetian, simple and just what we needed. The bathroom had a plumbing odor. I'm not sure if that was typical of the area but we just opened the bathroom window and closed the bathroom door. I liked that we were not in the middle of the crowded tourist areas but everything is conveniently within walking distance. We travel frequently. I would consider this a good find - I was very satisfied with the hotel, the location and good service at a very reasonable cost. The more I save the more I can travel.

Don't book with this hotel. It's far from sta lucia termini and you need travel by boat in order to reach the hotel. You need to pay eur 7 per person for vaporeto's fair. Also, after arriving at their hotel, we just found out that there's no available room and they will send you to another hotel which they call annex. The room is spacious but seems like a hunted house since there is no reception at all on said annex. Good point is that it's near to rialto. Breakfast is not included and you need to pay eur 5 if u want to avail. Seems they are not changing the beddings regularly since you will feel some itcheness while sleeping. The price is still expensive since you're not getting the quality afterall.

The hotel was very clean, the staff was friendly and for the cheap prize you get everything you need for a city trip. Unfortunately it is very noisy, and due to the shared bathroom I would recommend this hotel to backpackers and young families, because it is an excellent choice if you want to safe some money. One of the cleanest hotels I have seen in a while! If ever back in Venice I am likely to check in again

Hotel location is very good. It is good for short term visits. The room is small, and we had a very poor view with extremely loud neighbors. If you have too many bags maybe it's better to book a lower floor, because the stairs are very narrow, especially if you are on a high floor. The bathroom is very small. This hotel is nice if you plan to stay for a short time and be out most of the time.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice room and excellent location especially for the price. Close to vaporetto stop, as well as many restaurants and shops. Vintage charm within walking distance to many points of interest. Just across the Grand Canal from Rialto Market. Enjoyed our stay in a modest, but comfortable room. Would recommend this hotel to travelers with similar interests and budget.

We stayed in the hotel itself and not the annex. Excellent location, fast internet connection and lovely sounds of the city (double glazed windows helped with the noise level but loved the option of shutters as well) Very small shower and no problem with pressure or hot water. I would say this is a nice hotel if you are wanting a decent cheap place to stay. Seemed like a place for hostelers or young married couples on a budget. It was in a good location. We took the vaporetto (water taxi) from the Marco Polo airport and got off at the Fondamente Nove stop then walked about 10 minutes to hotel. The Fondamente Nove stop is not the grand entrance stop (Piazza Marco) but we had a lot of luggage and couldnt drag it across the island. Not far from the hotel is a water taxi stop (Ca D Oro) which took us to the St Lucia train station the next morning.

Pros: The hotel had charm and was in a very convenient location. The wifi was quick and reliable. The breakfast was good. There was an additional discount for paying in cash. It was non-smoking. Cons: The walls were paper thin. We heard every conversation, cough, etc. from the surrounding rooms. Also, the hotel staff did nothing to alert their guests about day-light savings. Being from a different continent, we had no idea about the time change and consequently missed our train. When you are in a service industry catering to foreign travelers, the least they could have done was post a sign if not verbally inform guests as you get your key coming/going from the hotel.

Had some problems with noise, not other guests, but staff. One night the desk clerk was carrying on a pretty loud conversation with his girlfriend which could be heard in my room. He did tone it down - the next night the hotel owner decided to do some cabinet work repair at 8 PM in the evening with the loudest power drill I have ever heard. This was not and emergency situation or anything, so I feel it was entirely uncalled for.

Beautiful, clean, comfortable room. EXCELLENT location! Very close to the water bus stop and to the major sites (St. Marco's Square, Basilica, Bell Tower, Rialto Bridge) and to great restaurants. Mostly quiet "street"--the only exception being if the young folks from the pub/restaurant across the way are outside smoking after a few drinks, but nothing wild and crazy. That still wasn't much trouble with the windows closed, and we slept fine. Front desk even helped my mother with her heavy bag. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Great value.

Our family of 4, with our 2 daughters aged 8 and 13 were very comfortable here. We found the rooms very comfortably and attractively refurbished. The location was very convenient and easy enough to locate once we had our bearings with the small streets in Venice. The instructions sought online to get to the location in Venice from the Tranchetto car park were very helpful too. The temperature had dropped dramatically upon our arrival to Venice so we needed to seek help to get the heating working- this was promptly attended to and we were comfortable.

The staff doesnt care about anything, they're not very kind, moreover the guy who works at night, the female worker you can find in the mornings is very pleasant. It's very noisy, specially in the mornings when everyone has to come down to have breakfast, and the staff doesn't tell to anybody to speak lower. The rooms are ok, big. And the hotel is in a very good place, the supplement they charge (2€ per person) is swindle, and if you decide to go pay it with credit card so they earn less than if you pay that supplement in cash.

There should have a very detail to tell customer how to be there, for example which stop is if you go to there by the boat line 1 from the station. I spend more than 1.5 hours in the cold cold windy rain to find where the hotel is, just out of there one corner in fact, but I JUST CAN'T find it. I've try to ask 3 local stores where 4366 is, nobody knows. Finally, a Chinese lady ask the hotel in Italian to help me to find the location, with a long and unseasonable path. I missed the corner again and again, with two wet and cold legs, and almost exploded bladder. OK, euro 32 is super cheap for a single bed in single room in Venezia, if the bed is smoother.

It was a fantastic hotel in a really nice part of Venice. Really large room for European standards, clean and modern too. They even had a kettle and tea! We stayed in the annex and the building was lovely. It's not right outside San Marco square (maybe a 5-10 minute walk) but it's in a great part of the city and it's a beautiful, interesting walk...in fact, it would be boring to stay right by the square. We walked from the train station and it was a 10-15 minute walk and it was easy with small luggage (it would be a pain with med/large luggage, though so just take the vaparetto - be sure to check that it's line 1! They all don't stop at the Ca d'oro stop even though the public transit workers will lazily tell you otherwise!).

First.. Venice is very expensive and tourist trappy.. and Hotel Bernardi gets you a room in a great location for a fair price.. (close walk from the Aliguna Blue line water bus Fondamenta Nuove stop you will take to get to the hotel from the airport if you fly in as we did). Not a far walk from the train station (Farrovia). also close walk to the Rialto bridge, Piazza San Marco, etc.. grocery store is nearby also. My concerns with Hotel Bernardi are the same as I read in reviews before my stay.. When arriving at 12 noon my room wasn't ready.. by 1:30pm I was told I was staying in the annex.. 1 block away.. so we walk over with the staff.. my wife and 17 month old baby with a suitcase and stroller.. at the annex you do not have any security of staff, there is no elevator, and there are 2 flights of steep steps to go up.. the room was large and nicely furnished but the air conditioning did not work and we stayed there in August.. We figured we could open the windows but there was little breeze and overnight our 17 month old daughter got bitten 5-6 times by mosquitos.. The staff did not fix the air conditioning problem to say the least. Also, the bathroom has zero ventilation and it was uncomfortable and hot and humid while inside it. I was also informed by the staff upon arrival that because I booked with Venere.com, breakfast was NOT included. All other guests seemed to have free breakfast. Internet in the main hotel lobby was free. After the A/C was broken, and we had to go up steps.. I was not shy to take a tray of coffee, pastries, yogurt, etc each morning of our stay.. Which I had to walk with to the annex and up 2 flights of stairs to bring breakfast to my family. They didn't say a word of my taking breakfast, nor was I charged for breakfast. Other than that.. you must weight the price and benefits.. If the air conditioning was working, I could have overlooked the steps, etc.. Venice is a very safe city so the lack of security I do not believe is much a c

I was very pleased with our stay at hotel Bernardi. The first thing you notice is how clean it is!!!! Very impressive. The double room with private bathroom we had was an adequate size especially for Venice. The location is fantastic! It's 10 min walk to Piazza San Marco and about 20 min to the train station. The area is very lively and safe. There is even a supermarket not far. The only thing I would say, don't waste money on breakfast at the hotel, it's not worth it. Especially considering that two steps away is a delicious bakery where you can get a variety of delicious pastries and of course great coffee. The shop across from the bakery serves coffee and simple pastry selection, but also very very good. Overall, I would definitely stay there again.

A small hotel in Cannaregio, in walking distance of all the Venice highlights. A small single room with shared bath, which was rather small. A more than average sized person would hardly fit into the shower. What it lacks in space it makes up for in location. Considering the price much more could not be expected.

Nice small room, situated approx 20-30 min by foot from railwaystation (if you visit for the first time, you will probably use closer to 30 min.) Close to the Rialto bridge, (approx 5 min.) Clean and silent, but you must share bathroom facilities with many others. Very nice if you travel on a small budget. I can recommend the place, and might visit it again!

We were pleasantly surprised by this little hotel, it is a small place, but it is presentable and well run - more at the 'no frills' end of the scale - but it was still pretty & it was ideal for us as a family on a shoestring budget. The staff are really polite and helpful and the maid was friendly and respectful. The room we had was not luxurious and large - but then, we didn't expect it to be - it was the right price; all we needed was a place to sleep with the kids after a day on the feet!! We'd recommend this hotel, its tucked into a lovely back alley with a couple of nice resturants in the same alley (particularly the one opposite - which we found to be very good). Its close to everything (then isn't every hotel in venice?) - and the rialto was about 5 mins walk through alleys lined with shops, resturants and cafes. I found the bed a little hard but this is a small comment really, we did not do the hotel breakfast either, my brother did and said it was ok (although mostly in packets), I walked out to the baker for croissants (on the main street to the station) or to the co-op towards fonta novo - spending around 10euro rather than 40euro in a cafe; if you want value for money - this is the place.

It is a cheap option. I stayed one extra night in Venice, so I picked up this awfull and depressing option. Maybe I had this impression because I was in a beautifull hotel the days before. They room they gave to me was near the reception, and I could hear the recepcionist hammering against the computer keyboard like a Woodpecker, until she went away. I also heard she beeing very rude to a costumer, who had some kind of demand, and was answered back like "this is not a five star hotel, you know".... Location is not so bad, and if you want to spare money....

Spacious room with bathroom for a good price on a great location (only 5-10 minutes walk from Rialto Bridge, even less to vaporetto stop). Central location, good for sightseeing in all directions, but in spite than not overly touristy. we take a double with a special price at 54€ per night...incredible value for money. good position at 5/10 walk to rialto bridge and isn't necessary to take boats to visit only the venice's main island... that was good considering vaporetto's fee!

Excellent location and good price for Venice. Free luggage storage, breakfast and wi-fi, pleasant staff. Only 2 toilets is the main drawback for the shared rooms.

Well located in walking distance to everything you´d want to see in Venice. That´s its big plus. Other than that: It´s a very simple place with small rooms and is "rather" clean. Since Venice on the overall is expensive, the price/quality ratio is fine considering its location. Don´t expect much except for a very well located sleep over and you´ll be ok there.

Our room was located in the annex. The room was quite big and had a spacious bathroom. Very clean and recently renovated. The breakfast consisting of croissants, dry toasts, yogourt, juice, etc.. was offered. The location was excellent, close to the main street and to the Rialto Bridge, Piazza San Marco, etc... Staff was very nice and helpful. Would go back without hesitation.

The staff was very welcoming: they helped me with the directions to the hotel by e-mail and bus schedule in person( I departed early morning). I was directions-challenged travelling in Italy, so their kind assistance was greatly appreciated. I rented a small room with a shared bathroom, and the price was fine for this arrangement. I recommend this little hotel ran by the people with big hearts.

Great location though everyday noises do filter into your room. Breakfast not included, but you can pay €5 for tea/coffee,yogurt, rolls, croissants etc... Which is value for money going by Venetian prices! Helpful staff, let us leave our bags the morning we checked out.

This hotel is really good. The building looks old but they all look the same in venice, the room is not very elegant but it has everything you need for a good night sleep and stay in Venice. Rooms very clean, staff is very friendly, breakfast is 5 euros per person per day so it is up to you, i would recomend to try it one morning and then decide if you go to a near restaurant. location is really good, at first you see the narrow alley this hotel is located at and makes you wonder if you didn't make a mistake but belive me is an advantage is very quiet at night and is very safe. we stayed 3 nights and if i return i will stay in Bernardi Semenzato again for sure.

We stayed at a double room with extra bed (3 people total). The room was fine for the price, considering this was Venice. The room was on the small side and especially the bathroom with shower was very small - but this is par for the course there. At least the shower was fully functional which I can't say for the other hotel we stayed in Florence. The location is a little secluded but quite good - in the centre of Venice, close to everything but not too close. The staff is the best asset of this hotel as they were very friendly, communicative and accommodating - we even got free breakfast though technically it wasn't included. Wireless internet was free and working perfectly, too. Overall we were satisfied and would certainly stay there again.

I reserved a triple room and requested three separate beds. Over a week prior to arrival, the hotel sent me a email requesting I confirm my arrival, at which time I again restated my request for three separate beds. When I arrived, I was informed that the annex was closed, and I was given a single room with a full bed and a rollaway bed. I stated that I needed three beds. Eventually, later that evening, a second rollaway bed was placed in this single room. It was very cramped and uncomfortable. The next day, the manager refused to compensate me for my inconvience, saying that I was given three beds as I requested. This was not acceptable to me, but he became almost argumentative, so I paid the bill and left. I had other options, and would have reserved another hotel if this hotel would have informed me of the situation with the annex in advance. The location is very difficult to find. I was lost for almost one hour prior to finally locating the hotel and then had to deal with the above issue. I cannot recommend this hotel to other travellers based on my experience.

Excellent location, clean rooms, good surroundings. The room was a little too small and poor illuminated but nothing so bad. Price cheap if you consider to be in the centre of Venice.

We stayed in Venice 2 nights. The room was nice, spacious and clean. We liked the location because it was close enough to San Marcos square that we could walk in 10min, but far enough from all the tourists that you got some local feel. We discovered some great bakeries and cafes close by for breakfast at good prices.

We stayed in a three beds room. Very clean and big. Breakfast is not very good, but you can take all that you want. Perfect for price and position if you move by train, the hotel is between station and san marco place.

It is a bit too far from main sights unless you don't mind walking. Do not go for the shared toilet option, you'll regret it...no details necessary on this ;). Breakfast is buffet style and only 5EUR which is cheap for Venice. For the price is just OK...not too far from the vaporetto, but I wouldn't buy the pass...all of venice is worth walking and the tickets are a rip-off.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Bernardi Semenzato. The owners were friendly and helpful, the location was excellent, and the room was adequate for our needs. I was worried from the comments of previous customers that we would have trouble finding the property, but we didn't have any difficulty. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers.

We were given a room in a separate building of the hotel, and it was actually a 5 star accomodation: large, clean and well furnished; bathroom with window. We had chance to give a look to a quadruple room in the main hotel building (they originally gave us that one): not so spacious, bathroom without window (and without bidet... a MUST for an Italian hotel). Fortunately the previous guests were so turd to smoke in the room, and there was an orrible smell of smoke. For this reason the room was changed very kindly. My opinion is that for the price paid the final accomodation was superb; wouldn't say the same for the accomodation into the hotel building. I suggest to agree preliminarly BEFORE with the hotel personnel in order to get a room in the annex.

The room was excellent with brilliant airconditioning as the temperature outside was mid 30s and very humid. We stayed in the annexe which we would recommend to anyone staying in Venice. The only negative was that the breakfast room in the main hotel was to small for the amount of guests-also no plates! We ate our food off serviettes-bizarre. The location was fantastic with all main areas such as San Marco Piazza, within walking distance. We ate out nearby as there are plenty of restaurants and cafes. We would recommend the Vaporetti to get to the hotel, we would have got lost without it.

The people and the hotel were genuinely gracious and comfortable. We booked late, so our room was larger than we needed...but welcome after the train ride and walk. More hotel should provide this level of unpretentious accommodation.

We very much enjoyed our stay here - good location, lovely rooms and friendly staff. The only disappointment was breakfast, which was mostly out of a packet. A little more choice of fresh fruit and bread would be definitely improve the experience.

I would get exact directions before going, this was very hard to find. We took the Water bus and should have taken a water taxi, though the taxi's are expensive, the taxi would have taken us right to the location. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and even arranged for us to go to Marano Island to the glass factory. I would stay here again.
