I will not go back to this hotel. Beautifully located. A fine garden. But I don't sleep in the garden: room extremely small, very narrow, very dark even in the day : a high piece of furniture (?) between the bed and the windows which are themselves hidden behind curtains makes it difficult to read in bed , and at night the lights are very unsufficient: impossible to read in bed but you must sit beside the bed!!! In the bathroom, I must say, everything all right (included the light) . I was in a single room and I wonder if it was not a former broom-cupboard (un ancien placard) transformed into a room. The arrival at the hotel is very nice, but it is less nice spending a few nights there. The staff is polite but rather cold. Moreover no plan of Venice offered when you arrive (you must pay one euro if you want one). And you must sometimes repeat your question to get an answer. And breakfast far from excellent: mediocre caffee (in Italy!), fruit-salad pure canned food, all that in a crowded place. The climatisation is ruled from the bank, so that you must telephone if you wish to modify it! No, I was not satisfied and I woud recommand this hotel to nobody.

Overall, I thought this hotel was a very good value. The rooms were small, but clean and quiet. We loved the courtyard outside the hotel-- it was a beautiful place to enjoy coffee in the morning or wine in the evening. The hotel staff was not very friendly, but were able to answer all of our questions. The location was great...close enough to plenty of cafes and restaurants, but not in the middle of the crowds of tourists.

Staaff attitude: "Not my problem". Rooms: tiny! Covered (floors, walls, windows, bed) in red and gold fabric--they must have ordered miles of it...every room alike. Wobbly painted wood furniture, no mini-bar. Shower didn't drain, even after I reported it. Adult football team practiced on school yard next door from 3:30 until dark. Tacky plastic flower arrangements in public spaces, also tackier "Venitian" stereotypes (pilings lashed together). Plastic napkin despensers on the breakfast tables. More plastic flowers there, and dripping out of "torchiers" out in the portico. the portico entry and the courtyard are the best things about the place. Once you are inside, you might as well be in a Holiday Inn...with tiny rooms.

The location is good--between Accademia and Zattere, easily accessible by vaporetto from the airport and the train station; it's quiet; it's a pleasant neighborhood, and you can easily walk to anyplace else in the center of Venice. It's relatively inexpensive--not an incredible bargain, but still. Other than that, it was so-so. The room was no tinier than European hotel rooms often are, but they'd crammed a double bed into it, so there was literally no room for other furniture; when I was in the room I had no choice but to lie on the bed. The shower was iffy, with wild temperature swings and a real danger of being scalded. The breakfast was just barely ok. (My guess is that this is better in season; it is admittedly hard for them to keep a good buffet going for the few people they have in winter.) Two things that really annoyed me: their website promises wifi access. True, but it costs 12 euro a day--more than at most airports! Second, while some employees (mostly the younger ones) were friendly, others were not; they barely listened to questions and did not always bother to answer even when there were no other customers present. (Typical exchange: "Would it be faster to take the vaporetto from Accademia or from Zattere?" No reply. Repeat question. No reply. Repeat question. Bored reply, without looking up: "Yes, you can go from Zattere too." But that's not what I asked . . . )

first stay in May 2007 was wonderful; this time there was a water damage in the offered room and the employees were really overstraind in handling this problem; communication with me was suboptimal (it was raining, the room was not checked the day we arrived ...) after roughly 45 minutes they were able to offer another room; nice like last year just the entry to the shower was really small;

Very nice stay. The hotel was easy to find and in a nice part of Venice. The room lacked shutters on one window, but the light was pink in the morning due to pink curtains. The garden was lovely in the morning , but the silence ended when the next door cafe opened ? and played the same ethnic music repeatedly.

I have booked a room for 5 people but finally only travelled 4. I writed to inform about this but in the hotel didn't know, they have prepared a 5 people room. The room was very small (there was any space between the beds!) and a bed was broken but we have to pay the familiar room for 5 people. When I arrive home I received a mail from venere, you say that you have read my mail late and you apologise for the inconvenience. This situation was disappointig. On the other hand, the hotel is well located, the staff is helpful and the breakfast is good.

A very nice place, well located. Only steps from the Academia vaporetto stop. Lots of good restaurants within a few hundred meters. An easy walk to San Marco. The breakfast was very good. The rooms are decorated in a somewhat gaudy Venetian style, but that's part of the charm. Rooms are spacious and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. We especially liked the patio area, where we could relax with a beer after a day or walking the city.

One point as a suggestion for better service quality: During the breakfast a second machine to produce coffee cups is necessary. As a point of additional customer services is providing and hosting of the coffee machine in the entry hall; not in the breakfats room. I went to Venice in part for business. Communications being essential in my line of work, I was attracted to this hotel because of the Internet access they provide. I was very disappointed to find out that they do not have such access (the staff told me that I needed a modem to connect to Internet through the phone line. This obviously did not work since they could not provide me with an ISP login and password!) The TV remote was broken. It could not be fixed during my stay. I could not work out the phone. For that, I needed a special access code. Most of the staff did not know about this either. Fortunately enough, I found someone who knew. Otherwise, the hotel is very well located. Conversely to what is written on the website, it is more convenient to stop at the Zatterre station from the Piazzale Roma, rather than the Academia station. For the Academia station, you need to change boat at Marco Polo, which is not very practical when you are loaded with suitcases. I could not work out the air conditioning either, but did not really care since the temperatures were decent. I did not investigate this issue. I believe that it should work properly but was probably not turned on. Even though I reserved 5 weeks in advance, the price was quite high (230 Euros). Overall, I was disappointed by the quality/price ratio. I did expect much more from this hotel. For 65 Euros more, the Hilton is a much better choice if you are there for business. Now, if you are just there for vacationing, getting in touch with your office is the last thing you want!

This was the first time my mother and I have visited Venice. It was welcoming to consider the Hotel Belle Arti our home for 3 nights. Although the rooms are small, they are accomidating. The walls are panneled fabric and the fixtures are beautiful Venetian glass - a very nice touch to make our stay feel "authentic". The staff was very friendly and always willing to make cappucino. The location is convenient, with a 10 minute walk to St. Mark's square and 1 minute walk to the Academia Bridge and vaporetto stop. The breakfast buffet allows you to endulge in pastries, fruits, and cereals. I would stay at this hotel again, and again, and again. But because of the size of the rooms, I would only recommend it to travellers who go by two's (or one). Bella, Bella, Bella though!

The Belle Arti is well situated: close to the Accademia bridge (and vaporetto), on the rio terra that cuts straight through the Dorsoduro, so the Zattere stop is also easy to access. The Belle Arti has acquired a smaller building across from the main hotel, and that's where I stayed. The room was beautiful, but tiny: no table or desk of any kind, which as a writer I found frustrating. Breakfast and any other services were across the street, which was slightly incovenient when the weather turned sour. I found the staff to be friendly and knowledgable.

Great hotel; great location to other parts of Venice. The hotel was surprisingly plush, considering the the price,we expected something a bit more austere. Property is easily accessible from the Accademia and Zaterre vaporetta stops. Rooms and accommodations were as described on website. Breakfast was abundant with cold meats, cheeses, rolls, cereals, juices, fruits, coffee and tea. All of Venice is accessible by foot from this location. We had a wonderful time in the Bella Arti and would thoroughly recommend a stay here. We travelled with our four children (15 - 7)and booked 2 rooms. The rooms were clean. The hotel was in a fantastic location close to the Academia Bridge. The courtyard was lovely and we really enjoyed sitting down after an exhausting day with a book and a glass of wine. A lovely start to the day was having breakfast outside. The only problem was that we arrived at 10pm tired and hungry and the hotel didnt have any food to offer us and all the restaurants close by close quite early.

Beautiful hotel, especially the common areas. Rooms are clean and well decorated. Small TV, which is the norm. Breakfast was OK, espresso great. Staff friendly but not too friendly. A fantastic hotel, everything we could have wished for for our first time in Venice. Rooms were on the small side and very venetian but very clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was continental style and plenty of it. There was definitly enough to set you up for the day. The best part of this hotel had to be the courtyard/garden! After an exhausting day round Venice it was extremely welcoming with its comfy sofas and chairs, many people were caught snoozing or just relaxing with a book and a glass of wine. This hotel is also easy to find. If you take the number 1 or 82 vaperetta to the Accademia stop, then turn left from the stop and then right up the side of the Accademia Gallery -you will find it - so easy compared to some of the hotels. The price was excellent from Venere half the price of the actual hotel's rates. Try this hotel - you will not be disappointed!

Have stayed here previously, as we did this visit, with groups and friends in multiple rooms. Some of the reception staff are almost impolite. Breakfast coffee is terrible. My family with a 4-year kid stayed at Belle Arti for three nights in July in a triple room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Excellent location (very easy access to Academia Bridge and vaporetto on both Grand Canal and circular lines), nice quite surroundings (with excellent restaurant just next door and some other quite close), hefty (by Venetian standards) breakfast, air-conditioning – are among hotel’s advantages. Some may consider red interior of the rooms too aggressive – ask for a room with blue decoration. Very good price/quality combination for Venice. I would come again.

I would not recommend the Belle Arti Hotel to anyone. During July 2006, my family of 5 (3 teenagers) was placed in a room designed for 2. Even though the hotel was relatively new, looks very elegant and conveniently located near the Accademia Bridge, we found our fourth floor room to be unbearably hot - despite the presence of air-conditioning. After wandering around Venice with the temperature at 97 F, we were really looking forward to a comfortable room in which to sleep. The room temperature was way too hot to sleep in comfortably even though the a/c unit was working full time. It did not take a rocket scientist to realize that the room temperature was much hotter than the thermostat indicated (28 C – 82 F) as the a/c was blowing directly on the thermostat. We left the windows open one night, but got bitten badly by insects, so we ended up trying to sleep under wet towels. We complained to the staff after the first night and were told that the a/c wasn’t working because we had opened the windows. After the second night, we complained again and they responded by turning the a/c unit completely off! The room temperature went over 30 C (86 F). For our last night, one of the hotel staff provided us with an oscillating fan which made the heat in the room more bearable. Even though we had temperature problems in our room, we found the temperature in the hallways comfortable and the temperature in the lobby was downright cool - we should have slept in the lobby.

As a family of 5 we were really surprised when we arrived and they gave us the keys to a room accross the street. We thought we were staying in the Belli Arti but were mislead. We stayed in a building across from the main holtel. The room was very spacious for my family. The Air Conditioning was not that good. On the surface it apeared clean but they neglected the areas under the bed that had not been cleaned for some time. The building we stayed in was not monitored by any hotel personnel and the door to the front was always open. Anyone could walk into this building and they would not be noticed. Safety was a concern of mine. It had poor lighting in the hall ways and stairways to our first floor room. The staff on the other hand were exceptional. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. The location was the best part of the hotel. Very quite and an easy walk to everything. I would stay here again only if I was assured to stay in the main holtel that is monitored 24hrs/7days a week. Beware if you are a family you will be put accross the street.

I enjoyed Bella Arti's outdoor lounge with comfy couchs to relax and socialize. The continental breakfast was very abundant with selections of pastries, rolls deli meats and cheeses along with fruit and cereal options. The rooms were decorated very nicely although small but totally adaquate. Location was convenient to walking across Accademia bridge toward San Marcos Piazza and very close(1/2 block) to Zatierre for strolling. We loved visiting the authenic bacaro (wine bar and venitian snacks), Cantinone Gia Schiavi which is just behind Belli Arti on Fondamenta Nani across from the gondola workshop(squero). Bacaros have been a tradition for over 500 years in Venice but this is only one of the 2 authentic ones left. What a gem we stumbled upon!

Not the greatest experience with this hotel... On the positive note, the room was clean. The breakfast was included and of good quality. On the negative note... The AC is not controlled in the room, it's controlled at the front desk. We asked for the temperature to be lowered several times and the staff at the front desk just ignored our request. Eventually we gave up, opened windows and had to deal with mosquitoes. During checkout process, they converted total amount in Euro to US $ with a really bad rate (about 5 cents more per dollar. On the receipt, they add a little statement that "I chose to use hotel currency rate, not the credit card rate. I will not dispute the charge, etc." If you do stay in this hotel, make sure you read your receipt carefully, before you sign anything.

Hotel Belle Arti in Venice is a wonderful hotel to stay. Its location in Dorsoduro is perfect; quite a lot of the vaporetti (=waterbus) do stop at the nearby Accademia. Also nearby is the bridge across the Canal Grande, which is very convenient for a nice stroll to either the San Marco Square or the Rialto Bridge. The hotel itself is very clean, the breakfast buffet is good (cereals, bread, croissants, cake, toast, ham, cheese, butter, fresh fruits, yoghurt, coffee, tea, orange juice) and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Belle Arti is in a fantastic location away from the crowds. There are lots of nice traditional restaurants nearby and we walked everywhere only using the river boats to get to and from the bus terminal. The bedrooms are small and the decor of them (red fabric walls and carpet was a bit much but gave us a big smile!! Would recommend this hotel to friends and family as overall it was good value and a super location.

Excellent location, just 150m south over the Accedemia bridge, most tourist attractions easily walkable. Nice quiet area especially at night which was welcome. Breakfast was a tiny bit chaotic on Saturday AM but this was because there appeared to be a group of USA teenagers staying ;-(, Sunday and Monday AM was fine. At breakfast there was sufficient choice and the food was good. Overall I'd stay again, no question.

The welcoming was very cold... we supposed that was because we are from Argentina... The room was too small but the breakfast was excellent. The receptionist didn't want to talk us in spanish (she took us only in english but she took in spanish with another guests). Thank for all.

The facility is beautiful, conveniently located (though a bit tough the first time w/o a map.) They staff were great! Very acomodating and fluent in English. We were put in a smoking room. Not too bad. I'm not sure if they have non-smoking. In Jan we paid E70 per night for a double and going directly to them their lowest rate was E100.

The price quoted on venere.com was two thirds cheaper than the full rates, which was a bargain. Neat and tidy rooms, short walk to all the attractions and capable staff. Highly recommended.

I would recommend the hotel to everyone. The service and ambience was really good. The complimentory visit to Murano glass factory had a hidden fine print: only one way trip fare was sponsored which was not told earlier!!

We really lucked out with this hotel! My favorite thing about it is the outdoor lounge/courtyard - a beautiful area with nice furniture, great for gathering and relaxing. The breakfast was the best that we had in Italy. Our room was tiny but others in our group had a much bigger room for the same price, although both were beautifully decorated. I would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting Venice!

It bit expensive, but so conveniently located that it is worth it if you are only there for a little bit. I love the Dorsoduro area, too: it's a little quieter, and right by the art academie. The outdoor garden and patio could not have been more perfect to have a glass of wine or coffe after a long day of walking. I would definitely stay there again.

The situation of the hotel is perfect: between vaporetto stops Zattere and Academia. We left our car at Fusine parking lot and a 20 minutes vaporetto ride takes you almost directly to Belle Arti Hotel. The Hotel is very much ok, although the intense red-golden tapestry in the room is a bit overwhelming and nothing for sober-minded people. No view to speak of in most of the rooms, it seems. Breakfast was good. We were two couples, our friends stayed on two more nights, and were accorded the same price as booked through venere.com without any problem. We think we would go there again.

My partner and I took my elderly mother to see Venice. I could not find a single and double room on- line in central Venice, so we were forced to share a triple. I have been to Venice before, and I know rooms are small, and this room was no different, although the bathroom was large and clean. The room smelled extremely bad, and I think the carpeting was in need of a cleaning. Due to the unseasonable cold and rain, our extra blankets had been removed from our room and given away by the time we arrived. We had to ask twice for blankets, and eventually went to the front desk to get them ourselves. Breakfast was just adequate. The location was great, central and fairly quiet, but the room was extremely overpriced. I guess this is typical for Venice.

The Belle Arti is a lovely hotel. We had quite a large room overlooking the courtyard with 2 sets of patio doors opening out onto a very small balcony. Everything was really clean and well presented - in the venetian style. The reception area and outdoor seating area were especially nice and the lovely entrance from the street puts the hotel into a class of its own. Its fantastic location and closeness to St Marks Square makes it an excellent base to explore the beautiful city of Venice.

Excelent hotel - would recommend it to friends & family. The public areas were excellent. The courtyard and porch area were comfortable, romantic, and a pleasure to be in. The staff was exceptional and the rooms were a pleasure to return to after a long day touring Venice.
