Staff greeted us warmly. They were very knowledgeable and offered several tips and recomendations for eating. They spoke English fairly well.Small outdoor patio along canal was wonderful to relax upon one evening. Gondolas floating by people friendly. Staff put together a wine and cheese/fruit tray to enjoy. Wonderful. Would recommend again.

Overall a nice stay within Venice, if I go back to Venice, this hotel would be at the top of the list. It's a short walk to everything because your right in the middle of the big tourist area. The staff is excellent and helpful. Print the hotel map before you arrive in Venice, you'll see that's a must !

Booking went smoothly, they responded quickly to confirmation emails, and when we arrived the staff was warm, friendly and eager to make our stay comfortable. They upgraded us to a lovely suite overlooking the canal, which was spacious, with a beautiful Murano glass chandelier and a balcony overlooking gondoliers in the canal below. The bathroom was clean and modern, though the tub/shower combination was not usable as a shower as water would run under the glass partition onto the floor. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were hard and uncomfortable, and the blankets showed significant wear and probably should be replaced. The location was easily walkable to both San Marco & the Rialto Bridge, close to high end shopping. Service was impeccable.

This hotel was magnificent. Located only 5 mins walk from St Marks Square and close to a vaporetto stop. It sits right on the canal and is very quiet. We were welcomed very warmly and given a surprise upgrade to the junior suite. The rooms are spacious, clean and there is amazing attention to detail, not to mention the beautiful view from the balcony. Added extras include the fantastic buffet breakfast and the lounge room that can be used after checking out.

Hotel Becher lived up to our expectations. Although the room we booked was a bit on the small size this was compensated for by a canal view. Another bonus was the ability to breakfast on the small canal-side patio. The breakfasts were typicaly continental style but adequate nevertheless. What makes this hotel is its central location, intimacy and the friendliness of the staff. Highly recommended for that special treat.

Extremely professional concierge service. We need a water taxi to be arranged for a very early morning flight and reservations at a restaurant on Burano which were done quickly. We also had a problem with our homebound flight reservation that was also dealt with very efficiently. Excellent free internet wireless service. Great rooms and excellent showers. This was a short three girls only trip to Venice made better by our stay at Hotel Becher.

The staff was welcoming and kind. The hotel was very clean. Our first room was very small, but charming. They approached us and offered a larger, upgraded room for no charge. It was decorated in the same charming style. Both were on the canal. Although the canal traffic was a bit noisy, the noise could be blocked by closing the shutters. And the rest of the hotel was very quiet. Breakfast area is miniscule, and there is a spacious overflow room upstairs. There is an elevator.

Great hotel, very amazing staff, especially the older couple who helped us. Finding the actual hotel was a bit of a challenge and should have been explained prior to our arrival. Overall, a wonderful hotel to stay at if you are visiting Venice.

FRONT DESK HUSBAND & WIFE TEAM WERE TERRIFIC. VERY HELPFUL. BREAKFAST ROOM A BIT ON SMALL SIDE, BUT SERVICE WAS GOOD. HOTEL LOCATION CLOSE TO EVERYTHING. PLAN ON GETTING LOST, IT'S PART OF THE ADVENTURE IN VENICE.

The hotel was charming and the location was central. My daughter suffered a very serious allergic reaction and the hotel staff were extremely supportive and were able to arrange for a doctor to attend to her at the hotel. For this, I am extremely grateful. We loved listening to the gondoliers singing as they cruised the canals.

This is a great little hotel with only 16 rooms so the service is excellent. The multi-lingual staff get to know their guests well and provide help, advice and suggestions based on individual preferences. This is a little hotel in all respects so neither the public areas nor the rooms are spacious. The rooms could do with additional drawer space and surfaces in the bathroom but they are beautifully decorated and, as the hotel is only two year old, everything works perfectly. The location is ideal, right in the middle of the San Marco district. Six of the rooms overlook a small canal which we renamed 'Gondola Alley' as it was very popular with the gondoliers. Watching gondola passengers being serenaded while sheltering under umbrellas was a spectator sport in itself! The reason I have given a 5 for 'quietness of rooms' is that the canal is used for services so every morning between 6 and 8 the dustman, the laundry man, the fruit and veg man et al are busy working and make a lot of noise. We found it fascinating to watch and didn't mind the noise at all but other guests complained, so request a non-canal view room if sleeping is more important to you than watching the daily life of Venice. It is worth noting that of the six canal view rooms one is a junior suite, three are doubles and two are singles. This means that everyone is catered for but you would need to book well in advance if you want one of these. We were lucky and had a cancellation. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

We were very pleased to be able to stay in a canal-side room with reservations made the morning of our arrival. I realize that this was possible only because it was not peak season but I was still quite appreciative that the room was available. Also, you may want to double-check the directions on your website... Plus we found it easier (with suitcases to lug) to take the vaporetto from the Rialto stop as there are less bridges to cross along the way.

We have been to Venice five times and the Hotel Becher was a great find for a mid priced hotel in San Marco. Clean rooms, classic brocade wall coverings, clean modern and larger than normal bathroom. Walk to Plazza San Marco in 3 minutes using back streets. Boat dock a plus if you water taxi from the airport. Breakfast was good. Has elevator if you have a lot of bags. Plenty of overpriced restaurants in the area. Highly recommeded.

The hotel owner was very welcoming and helpful with recomendations for restaurants and finding places of interest. Rooms were very clean, and felt cosy. Bathroom new and good size for European standards. Great location too. No hesitations in recomending this hotel.

Wonderful hotel with a great couple that run the property. Property was remodeled 1 1/2 years ago and is in great shape. Canal entrance is very handy for arriving/leaving via water taxi. Room was small but comfortable. Breakfast buffet was adequate with good service. Had first dinner at Teatro---way overrated for what we got. Other meals we opted for local smaller restaurants.

We had a very small room 309 which backed onto the elevator which was noisy. Other rooms we saw were much larger - would be good to mention the size of the room when booking. Overall though the hotel was very functional and in an excellent location in Venice we would recommend it again.

I could see the entrance from my room... 100 meters away the Hotel there is a Square (theather square) where you can walk and dinner in a very roomatic atmosphear... I do really recomend it!!
