Perfect location- staying on the Lido is perfect in summer! Nice and helpfull staff at reception. Unfriendly staff at the hotel restaurant, canned fruit at breakfast in summer is not acceptable for a 4 star hotel! Extra charge for a cappucino at breakfast was disappointing as well. Our room was not like shown in Venere picture. Nice exterior of the hotel, but otherwise disappointing stay.

My wife and I were visiting Venice for a few days and wanted somewhere close but not too close to the city highlights. This hotel is excellent for the purpose - just a few minutes walk from the boat stations and only a little longer to the Lido beaches in the other direction. Food was very good, staff helpful, and the decor intriguing! The non-soundproofed plumbing down from upper floors past our room was rather noisy, but we got used to it. Would definitely return.

The stay was lovely! staffs were polite and very helpful. Location was great! we wish we had known about the evening program which was going on when we went back to the hotel to pick our luggage to leave the city!Guys don't forget the Lido beach which is only about 200 meters away!

We were impressed by the Hotel in many ways, the photos on the website were good and in fact I was pleasantly surprised because they did cupture the actual explendor of the building and the general area, this is contrast to the fact that we find Internet photos turn to show a better appearance of buildings than in reality when you get there. The rooms were excellent, bright and large with an air of space and the occasion for our visit was to visit the city as tourist (my third visit)

One of the best hotels We'd been, even when the Internet was not included in the original price, once We needed, the staff provided us for free!!. Beautiful rooms, facade and nice surroundings, and it's just 5 min walk to the "bus" stop and 15 min to Piazza St Marco.

We stayed for three nights at the end of November 2011. Had been a bit concerned that the Lido would be largely closed (having read guide books!)as it was winter, but there was enough open to make it an excellent base to explore Venice and the Lagoon Islands. Our room was on the top floor - quite compact and very warm, but newly decorated and with excellent views. Breakfast was good, we didn't eat in the hotel in the evenings. Staff were friendly and spoke good english - even left a bottle of Prosecco on ice for us in our room on my mum's birthday, which was a lovely surprise! We booked through Venere because they were the only booking company that were willing to check with the hotel that we could have a twin room (others said could be twin or double) - their service was excellent. Vaporetto service to Venice was regular, although as it was low season, the faster boats to St Marco and P Roma were not running, but it still didn't take long to get to the main attractions. Would recommend!

"Grande Albergo Ausonia & Hungaria" is like a dream from the 19th century come true. Look at the pictures. The reality is even more beautiful. Probably the most beautiful hotel in Venice. And the best: its 19th century style combined with 21th century luxury. Double Room interior had classy 19th century interior. Each room had its own air condition regulation. The wellness & spa is fantastic and worth its money. Service personal was professional and very helpful. Minor complaint: dinner service was overextended (lots of guests and only 2 service people ). And if you cannot live without your smartphone/laptop: even Wifi was working as promised all over the house ;)

The hotel was lovely! And we got a great thai massage in the spa downstairs. The room was nice (big bed, desk) but tiny- not much room to move around or to store luggage. The window rattled with the wind which was very annoying when trying to sleep (but fixable)! Located on the Lido, it's a 10-15 minute boat ride to the main island (6 euros per trip). The breakfast was wonderful! Lots of selection and a beautiful breakfast room. But beware of the restaurant in the hotel! Staff were friendly but quite inattentive and deceptive. Very expensive! (12 euro soup, no house wines)

We have probably stayed at over 1000 hotels around the world, and this is our first ever review (as overdue payback for all those we have read and used from others). This hotel was excellent for the money. We paid about 80 GBP per night with breakfast in Sept, and were given a huge room with high ceilings and juliette balcony. Lido was the right choice too. As other people have noted it can dampen your holiday if you have to subject yourself to being ripped off dining out in Venice every evening, and it was also very nice to get back and relax outside with drinks and wifi (and a cigarrete) on the lovely hotel terrace at night.

We had a pleasant stay. The property is a well-maintained older property in an outstanding central location. The staff was very good to us. Our rooms were the standard doubles - about 160 sq feet at a guess, with space for a large double bed. The air conditioning was outstanding and helped us break the heat of the day. The rooms were quiet (important to me) and clean. The breakfast was very institutional. Imagine Italian Muzak playing Tammy Wynette's "Stand by your Man" and you'll get the idea. I enjoyed late afternoons and early mornings on the terrace in front of the building for a few moments of peace and quiet. We highly recommend the Thai spa in the basement. That was enjoyed by everyone in our party, except the youngest. I am always skeptical about the local star rating systems. It would be a reach to describe this as a 4 star property, but it is a very solid 3 star in my book. We all decided we would stay here again.

Excellent location in Venice Lido, just 200 meters from the "vaporetto". I spend one night there with my wife, during the Carnival week end in Venice. The room was clean, when we arrived both bath towels were missing but the room service immediately intervened. Everything was OK, including an excellent breakfast. One only negative point: the room was very noisy, as it was located very close to the heating system of the hotel.

Our room was on the top floor and was fine, not huge, as the ceilings were quite low, with wooden beams and made the room feel smaller than it was. The TV reception was poor, and the minibar was small and packed with their own items, so not much room for chilling bottles of water or wine. The breakfasts were generally good, but the hot water urn wasn't turned on when they topped it up with pans of boiled water, which meant if you were there anytime later than the top up time (7.30am), the water was too cold to have a decent cup of tea. Basic stuff - as we stayed in two other hotels 3* during our trip, and hot water on demand was not an issue for a pot of tea. No gym either - so not 4*. there was a nice terrace, but no real entertainment/music for such a lovely setting and people were going out rather than staying at the hotel to dine or have drinks.

Very nice stay. two night's, very quiet, the hotel is located very well but there is not a lot of life on the lido. I would recommend people to stay in this hotel because you're very close to Venice, 25 min by boat, and the quality is much better then for the same hotels located on Venice Island... Good breakfast, easy to find, nice staff,...! We were aloso upgraded ! I booked a normal double bedroom and we had a double superior! I'll go back to that hotel if I go to Venice! Ask for room 409 !

We went to Venice on our honeymoon, and the hotel stay was excellent! We were greeted with a bottle of champagne in our room on the first day. The ambience of the hotel, especially the breakfast area is very nice. The breakfast spread was impressive and tasty. The painted tiles on the outside of the bulding are very charming. Overall, the stay was very worth our while.

Very nice hotel in Lido island. It's good to stay there because you can reach the island = directly in front of the hotel by car. Just 3 minutes walk from the vaporetto station and easy access by car(with FREE parking: large enough for practically all guests). The room was not so large but clean and confortable(in the first place, you wouldn't need a huge room when you visit Venice-city daily). Breakfast had quite a large choice of foods and drinks(very nice dining hall). The price/quality ratio is good especially in low season. I would definitely come back to this hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon at the Hungaria Palace. It was so lovely to walk in to our room to find sparkling wine, flowers and nibbles. Our room was beautiful with a huge bed! It faced the Gran Viale, we would recommend this as you can watch the beautiful people promenading! The bathroom was adequate but could do with updating. The staff were always friendly and helpful. There was just a slight problem with the sound of our next door neighbour's television which was very loud both in the morning and late at night. It was a little frustrating but we didn't let it ruin our time there! If you want a hotel with character and understated elegance this is the hotel for you. We would definitely stay at the Hungaria Palace again. Mr and Mrs Houdmont

As you approach the Hungaria Palace, the startling effect of the tilied exterior hits you; entering the hotel you find an equally extravegant entrance hall. Once booked in (by an extremely helpful clerk) a short lift ride takes you too your room. The rooms are spacious, clean and individually styled, making you feel at home right away. The menu's are varied and reasonably priced, and the staff couldn't be more welcoming. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and would recommed it to anyone.

The Hotel Hungaria Palace offers a nice break from the bustle of Venice. The interior of the Hotel is beautiful and the staff is competent. The room (we occupied a Standard Double room) was nice and the noise level from the street was absolutely o.k. The breakfast is indeed poor (as mentioned in earlier reviews) and not what you would expect from this type of hotel. Overall, the stay at Hungaria Palace was a pleasant experience.

Arrived back to the hotel at 22.00 after a long day out in cold weather. NO HOT WATER IN ROOM!!! I could not take a shower. I reported the problem. A 4 star hotel without hot water? I asked for compensation when checking out and was told no price reduction was possible. I asked again and was told that the manager had already been asked an the decision was final. They said that they had checked the boiler and it was OK. They said the water was cold because the guests had used all the hot water that was available. This would not happen in my home so why should I have accept it when I am paying 150 Euro's per night. Surely all they had to do was was leave the boiler on for longer and the water will re-heat.

I had already stayed in this hotel one year before, and I had enjoyed it so much that I decided to come back this year for Xmas. Everything was OK, as last year, except the breakfast, which had become nothing: some pieces of cream cheese and jams on a piece of dry bread, some orange juice in plastic glasses and some days, a youghurt, but some days only. anyway nothing for a 4 star hotel.
