Because we were going on a cruise, we followed the advice of the "Venice for Visitors" website and chose a recommended hotel near the cruise pier. The Antiche Figure is a lovely small hotel on a canal and moderately priced (for Venice). The service was outstanding, the staff welcoming and helpful with transportation and sightseeing. I would highly recommend this hotel, especially to cruise travelers.

We stayed here for one night prior to taking a cruise. The staff was extremely helpful, including arranging shared transportation to our ship, thus reducing the cost. The hotel is also located in a convenient spot for sightseeing. Would definitely stay here again!

A very nice hotel, we had a room with canal view. well you see the railway station, but it doesn´t realy matter, because the rooms looks like in a fairy tale. The only problem is particulary the motor noise, produced by the boats in the morning. The staff is very nice and familiar, they all speak english and even german. The price is okay, I mean, we were in Venice. I can warmly recommend this hotel.

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. The staff was so welcoming and friendly and helpful. The hotel has a great location, near the bus station, the train station, waterbus stop, everything was very accessible. The hotel staff was very helpful in giving directions, suggestions for siteseeing. They also offered us an upgrade for only 20 Euros that we took them up on. I would so highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.

Wonderful room overlooking the Grand Canal. Very quiet when windows are closed, very nice when windows are opened. Small, cute balcony. Would have liked to stay longer. Location was very convenient when coming from cruise ship. Caught people mover to Piazzale Roma and hotel was a short walk away. Vaparetto was within short walking distance, and train station very close. Staff was always very helpful, even when asked the same question multiple times. Breakfast was very good with many choices and wonderful coffee.

This is our second visit to Venice but first stay at Antiche Figure. The location of the hotel is excellent if arriving by water taxi as there is a stop right outside the door. However if arriving by bus or train there are a couple of small bridges to navigate with your luggage. Breakfast was excellent. Gentleman at reception on the day shift was extremely welcoming and very helpful with local knowledge on getting around, transport, etc.

Nice hotel that looks far better inside than outside. Beautiful, Venezian style rooms and an ok breakfast. Location at Canal Grande is perfect if you appreciate short distance to trains, busses and parking on arrival or departure. We found hotel immediately opposite the train station and did also walk to the bus when leaving. It takes some time to walk to the main attractions, but the canals and narrow streets are just around the corner so we preferred walking. We would love to stay at Antiche Figure on our next visit to Venice.

My cousin from England and I enjoyed the Hotel Antiche Figure and would stay there anytime we are in Venice. We would gladly refer friends and family. Our only regret was walking from the Piazzale Roma to the hotel over the two "little bridges" pulling our suitcases up the stairs and down the stairs. It was by far a longer walk with our suitcases than five or ten minutes. We were exhausted!!! Service was excellent and everyone is extremely helpful. Our restaurant for dinner was recommended by the management at the hotel and was quite close by. Osteria ae Cravate The service and food were excellent and the decor was interesting - many, many, many ties adorned the walls - quite unique - and enjoyable. Look forward to our next stay in Venice at the Hotel Antiche Figure. Our room overlooked the Grand Canal which was yet another plus for us.

This hotel was amazing. The location was very close to the train station (less than a 5 min walk) right on the Grand Canal, but still convenient to get to all the main sights in Venice. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff went above and beyond with their help. The breakfast was great as well. We loved sitting outside at night having wine and watching the world go by along the canal.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Antiche. It is conveniently located a short walk (5 min)from the Piaza Roma and directly across from the train station. The air conditioned room, a little costly by Canadian standards, was lovely even though it did not overlook the canal. The staff was amazing....very polite, patient and extremely co-operative and helpful!!!! The Continental Breakfast was more than adequate. Little tables and chairs infront of the hotel allowed us to relax and view the activity on the canal and surrounding area. We had an early morning flight back to Canada and had to leave at 04:30 a.m. Night staff had coffee and snacks readily available for us. We would most definitely love to stay here again should we ever have the opportunity to return to Venice.

Excellent location opposite the railway station (which means you don't need to drag your bags through Venice, on and off ferries etc. Very quite and not too far to walk to Rialto etc. Hotel itself is pleasant and breakfast good. The lack of importial tourist advice was a minus. When asked for tour ideas, they could only recommend a tour to a Murano glass factory and didn't have any details about walking or gondola tours etc. When I asked them about the "going rate" for a gondola cruise, I was just pointed in the direction of the gondola operators (not far from the hotel). But that was the only minus. Everything else is highly recommended.

Whilst the hotel staff were excellent and extremely courteous and helpful, the quality of map was not so good! We did have trouble finding the hotel and several local people we asked did not know where it was! The map needs to be clearer I feel. This was our fist visit to Venice- The desk clerk was VERY helpful- arranged prompt taxi service, corkscrew, etc. Was a short walk from Cruise ship terminal (12 minutes) but too us about 40 minutes to find the day before- just a bit too confusing - perhaps a written description also. We are mature age travellers on our first visit to Venice. The hotel was sourced on line, using position and comments. It was easy to find if the map was followed, even for Venice! On arrival we were offered a suite in the annexe at no extra cost - which was accepted. Help was given with carrying our bags up one floor and very useful advice was offered on what to see in Venice. It was a pleasure to deal with the hotel staff, who helped to make our visit most enjoyable.

The way we were welcomed and treated from start to finish was worthy of the best hotels anywhere. We opted to upgrade to canal-view rooms and it was well worth it. We went with some very good friends and they described our whole trip as 'magical' (the great weather helped, but still). The vaporetto stops very close by and is so convenient; you can walk easily with bags from Piazzale Roma (from airport bus). Don't think about staying anywhere else!!

Hotel is just across the Grand Canal from the train station and you can walk to it in 3-4 minutes. Public areas are small but nice. The staff is warm and welcoming. Breakfast is very nice. We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment in the next building. It was beautifully appointed and included a kitchenette which we did not use but would be excellent for a longer stay. Beds were comfortable.

The staff were extremely helpful, the rooms have a real genuine charm to them and you really feel like you're in a special place, which of course Venice is. I would not and will not hesitate to return to the Antiche Figure, it's located well, has excellent staff and is probably only 3 star due to no restaurant and it was a notch above everywhere else we stayed.

Where can I start. The hotel is straight across from the St.Lucia train station and in front of the via Fero waterbus stop. It's within walking distance of everything. The staff was outstanding. Alessandro the day shift front desk, saw how many luggages my group (5) were carrying, and upgraded us to the suites that were located behind the main hotel (he figured we could use the extra space). The rooms were beautiful, spacious, very modern but charming. Everything was new. Silvio the bartender on nights prepared the best cappuccinos and lattes you could ever drink. Also the front desk gentleman on nights (I can't remember his name, but he's the one w/ glasses and a shaved head) was very pleasant and accomodating. He knew we were checking out @ 4am, and had a mini breakfast and cappuccinos waiting when we came down. The only draw back was the noise. The walls are thin and you could hear everything. However most if not all hotel rooms have the same problem (has to do with the method of construction in Venice...we were told). But the stay here is definately worth it. I'm definately coming back here again and I whole heartedly reccommend all to stay here.

Wonderful hotel in a non touristy part of Venice. Staff are helpful and friendly. We had a deluxe canal view room, although it seemed a little small, it had every amenity you could want. Although we enjoyed the view of the canal, due to the height of the windows, you could only enjoy it standing up. We found the room quite noisy at night when we had to open the window, because it was warm, and there is no air conditioning.

We traveled all through Italy and our stay at Antiche Figure was the highlight of our trip. The hotel directions were perfect and we found it right away after arriving from the airport via bus. From the moment we walked in the front door, the staff was outstanding. We cannot say enough about Alessandro, Francesca, Gianni, Monica and the rest of the staff who were so friendly and eager to help us with everything from restaurants to vaperetto schedules. They gave us the choice of three standard rooms that they had available. Our room and bathroom were a good size and furnished very nicely. The breakfast each morning was very good and they personally made our coffee just the way we liked it. The location is in Santa Croce, which we appreciated because it kept us away from the crowds and noise. The vaperetto station was very close and made it easy to get anywhere. We highly recommend this hotel and will certainly return again.

This was our first time staying in Venice and the hotel provided excellent and extremely well located accommodation; on arrival we were offered an upgrade to a suite at a very reasonable supplement. The helpfulness of the staff was outstanding and enabled us to travel around Venice with confidence using public transport. The hotel is located less than a 5 minute walk from the main bus terminal; however visitors need to be aware that cases have to be carried over two bridges of steps unless you want to pay a fortune for a water taxi. The walking instructions to the hotel are not entirely clear on the website but we still found it with ease by following the Grande Canal. The hotel is in perfect position to enable travel throughout all parts of the city both walking and by public transport. If we were to return to Venice we would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to all.

This hotel is a must for train travellers. It is a 2-minute walk from the station, and it is great. The room and bathroom are both lovely. The staff speak excellent English, and are very helpful. (One helped us avoid the hassles of a train strike.) The literature we read didn't mention a/c, but it does have it. We are 2 seniors from Australia who just spent 4 weeks travelling by train through southern Germany, Austria, Slovenia and northern Italy. All of our accommodation was booked online, but our 3 night stay at Hotel Antiche Figure was the best. First of all the hotel was easy to find since it is located directly across the Grand Canal from the main train station. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and told our room was ready, but a newly-renovated suite nearby was offered for the same price. We opted for the beautifully decorated suite with a living area, kitchenette, large bedroom with canopy bed and complete bathroom with all mod-cons. Breakfast was served each morning in the main hotel. The manager and his staff spoke perfect English. Nearby restaurants, patronized by the locals, were recommended. Advice on the ferries and sightseeing hints were given. Even a water taxi ride and guided tour through one of the glass factories on Murano Island were arranged for us with 15 minutes notice. We could not have wished for a more pleasant stay.

Beautiful, quaint, boutique hotel facing the Grand Canal providing excellent service. This hotel is a 10-15 min. walk to Rialto Bridge and about 20-25 min. walk to St. Marks Square which means you can walk to the sights but LEAVE the crazy crowds for a more serene location. There are quaint restaurants and shops nearby. There is a lovely wide promenade in front of the hotel lining the Grand Canal for walking. Vaporetto stops in front of hotel and the train station is across the canal. Hotel is only 5 minute walk to Piazzalle Roma and perfect for pre or post cruise stay as the cruise ships are only a 5 min. taxi ride from P. Roma. You can definitely walk all of Venice but this hotel's location makes public transportation to/from the airport or train station a breeze. The rooms are gorgeous, like a fairy tale, with new marble bathrooms, a lovely breakfast room downstairs and superb service.

What more can we say about this hotel other than fantastic. We were a family of 3 (2 adults & 1 teenager) and the facilities were excellent. All the staff were very polite, helpful and courteous and there English excellent. Free internet access a bonus for daughter. Although located opposite the station facing the Grand Canal, you couldn't hear any trains at all. Good walk to the Rialto Bridge about 30mins. but with the excellent directions given and the map it was easy. Breakfast was good cereals, bread, meat and cheese, eggs, pastries, fresh fruit and yogurts. We chose this hotel because of it's location to Tronchetto Car Park, as we were at the end of a two week tour of Italy and had very large and heavy suitcases that we didn't want to drag further into the centre of Venice. Overall excellent hotel and would stay there again and would highly recommend.

This was our first trip to Venice and it wsa for a special occasion. We initally booked a standard room but later e-mailed the hotel to upgrade to a deluxe room. They replied quickly and we were delighted with our room (212) which over looked the Grand canal and had a small balcony. The staff were superb and made us feel special. One really good and unusual thing for Venice is the terrace outisde which is fantastic for a drink before dinner and for breakfast watching the gondoliers setting up.

My husband and I stayed at the Antiche Figure after we took a Cruise. The hotel is very well located, as we were ale to walk from the bus terminal (Piazzale Roma) to the hotel. In relation to the price it is fairly adequate considering how pricey these are in Venice. Very courteous and educated staff, willing to go out of their way to help. The only negative is the AC does not work to capacity as I experienced in many of the hotels I visited on this trip in Europe. But, overall will recommend this hotel to couples or families on vacation.

The staff at the Antiche Figure could not have been more welcoming. They were charming and very quick to suggest restaurants etc and provide maps. Their English was impeccable - a great help in view of our complete lack of Italian. Although the water taxis stopped at the nearby Ferrovia bridge, it was better to walk one stop back to the Piazzale Roma to board the taxi at the start of the Grand Canal. That way, you could secure a seat at the open front of the boat for the best views!

The Hotel Antiche Figure were excellent. My husband is disabled, and they actually sent out a staff member to help carry his scooter and our luggage over the two bridges we had to navigate. Also, very helpful with organizing transport to the Cruise terminal - they ordered a water taxi with a lift, so that the scooter could be taken to the terminal easily. They were very kind, and answered any questions we had re accessibility around Venice. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

We were greeted by very pleasant and knowledgeable employees. We were upgraded from a room to a suite with no extra charge. The front desk was very helpful as to bus schedules and places of interest. The hotel is an easy walk to the bus station (except with a lot of luggage, there are 2 bridges with stairs to cross). The hotel had a nice buffet breakfast and is close to nearby restaurants. There is access to the internet in the lobby.

My husband and I (a mature couple) arrived early morning and were immediately given our room. The staff could not do enough to help us. Everyone was most polite, friendly and efficient. The deluxe room was beautiful ovelooking the canal and the breakfast excellent. Because again our return journey was overnight the luggage was kept all day and we were even given shower and changing facilities before leaving. The hotel was in an excellent position for all the main vaperetto stations as well as opposite the train station. Can thoroughly recommend.

A wonderful hotel, conveniently placed, and with a superb welcome. One evening, while drinking an aperitif the barman obviously decided that we looked hungry and made us some sandwiches! The staff were very good indeed and let us practice our beginners Italian. We will certainly stay there upon our next visit to Venise.

This hotel is fabulous -- terrific location within walking distance of the Piazzale Roma and the train/bus stations, so that you don't have to worry about dragging your luggage all over Venice. The staff speak perfect English, are exceptionally friendly and helpful and the room I stayed in was spacious with all the amenities. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Venice, particularly those arriving in Venice by cruise ship (as I did).

If you have a early AM flight you may want to stay close to the airport. The train station is right across from this hotel, but you have to factor in at least an extra hour to get the 5:00 am bus. If you stay close to the airport, you can still spend a lot of time in Venice at night.

We loved the location of Antiche Figure because we took day trips and were able to simply cross the bridge to the train station. At the station you can also board the vaporetti which will take you anywhere in the city that you don't want to walk. My husband enjoyed looking out our windows at all the activities. The service is perfect: they treat everyone like family.

Very nice little hotel. Expensive but still quite affordable for being Venice. Staff was very helpful and made some excellent recommendations during check-in. We travelled by train and it was so convenient not having to use the vaporettos to reach the hotel. This one is just across the bridge. We can definitely recommend this place!

Clean hotel with friendly staff. Standard European hotel continental breakfast. Had a very small suite in another building adjacent to hotel which had just been rennovated and was very nicely finished. One of the beds was a fold-out sofa. Had a problem with mosquitoes in the room.

We stayed here one day before a cruise and two days afterward. The hotel was just perfect in terms of location. Close to the terminal where the airport bus and the cruise shuttle picked us up and dropped us off. Only two bridges to cross! It was also easy to walk to most of the Venice attractions or to catch the water bus. The hotel staff was outstanding -- extremely friendly, efficient and very helpful. Our room was a small suite in the newly refurbished annex with a bedroom and sofa bed. Ideal for three people. The only problem was the hand held shower. There was no place to hang hose and only a partial shower door, so the whole bathroom showered with us. I must say the water pressure was very, very good. We were assured this would be taken care of in the near future. While the hotel is somewhat off the beaten path, this was actually a positive. After the crowds around the busier areas, sitting outside along the Grand Canal with a glass of wine, watching the passing parades of boats and pedestrians was a very pleasant way to end the day. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is in an excellent location for those wishing to utilize the train, in fact the train station is just across a canal from the hotel. It's a bit of a walk to St. Marks square, the Rialto Bridge and other tourist sites, but that also means your away from the crowds. The staff was warm, friendly and very accommodating. Breakfast was good and plentiful. As to room size just remember that European room sizes are always a smaller than American Hotels. That said by European standards the room was more than adequate in size. When returning to Venice we always stay at the Antiche Figure.

Since I was in Venice for only one day and night, I was most interested in convenience to the train and airport bus locations. The property was as advertised in its pictures, with a very helpful multi-lingual staff over two shifts. Curiously, the only beer stocked was the Mexican Corona. I had a canal view, which was both good and bad: good ambience, but noise from service-boat activity well into the night. Be aware that there is no AC, window screens nor fan, at least in my Single room, so I imagine mosquitos might feast during the summer months. Lack of screens seemed the norm at most hotels as I walked around getting lost. Otherwise, a nice experience.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much. It was everything we hoped it would be. The room was palatial and we particularly appreciated having sheets and blankets on the bed as neither of us like duvets! We were very near the waterbus stop and in easy walking distance of much we wanted to see. Staff were helpful and pleasant. We would certainly stay here again.

I loved this hotel! The rooms were perfect, clean and nicely decorated. We had the canal view room, which was not as noisy as some people said, and besides, your on the canal in Venice, who cares. The breakfast was nice and the service was excellent. I would definitely return to this hotel.
