Antica Locanda Montin is primarily a resaurant with 12 rooms located above this restaurant. This is reflected in the service provided, with a common bathroom (my room simply had its own sink/hand basin) and furniture which did look "antica", but was of very good quality. The food was also amazing, even the breakfast provided - everything was fresh and gave the perfect start to a long day of sight-seeing in Venice!

A quirky, old fashioned inn in a great location. My single room overlooking the canal was remarkably quiet, and quite comfortable. The shared bathroom was small, but rarely occupied. The staff seemed more interested in the restaurant than the hotel, but that was fine. I enjoyed the artwork which was everywhere, and didn't miss having a TV at all. Ask for the WiFi password...it is available.

My room was great as was the location. My room opened onto a canal so it could get noisy with city life but that was fine with me. The mattresses in the hotel were terrible, I heard complaints from other guests. I was OK with mine though, it was just very hard. The restaurant in the hotel was great. The breakfasts were cereal, yogurt, juice, and cappuccinos. The check-in info was a bit vague, such as when is breakfast served, how to get in after hours, but I figured things out after a day or two. The hotel is really close to the Zaterre water buss & Alilaguna stop. From the Zaterre stop walk West, go over the bridge @Fond. Nani and turn right onto a teeny tiny alley called C. Trevisan and follow that over another bridge and that puts onto F.di Borgo, the street that Locanda Montin is on. The Accedamia bridge is a 5 min walk and S. Mark's is about a 15 min walk. Good luck!

Exceptionally clean single room with a lovely canal view. Bathroom across the way was clean and tidy. Housekeeping staff very attentive - noticed I'd rolled up a blanket to boost my pillow, so kindly popped in a 2nd one - just a nice touch. The welcome at check in was a little gruff, but kind and characterful and to be fair, I was early - and my room was already ready! Restaurant is lovely but not really "all that", though good simple food. Location is great and really very simple to find. Easy access to the Accademia bridge if you don't want to hop on the boats (and that said, plenty of boat stops everywhere to zip about). Not entirely sure of what their b/fst times were, as one morning there seemed to be nothing set up just after 08am. A supermarket down the way was very handy for picnic lunch provisions. Get up extra, extra early in the morning and walk through Venice before it fills up with tourists - magic to have it all to yourself! The location is super, the hotel is lovely, clean and the staff are ultimately quite friendly and kind.

Arriving here I felt as though I'd stepped into a scene from The Shining. A genuinely small Venetian hotel; no TV, no minibar but mercifully centrally heated during an icy winter stay. A quiet location with laid back staff who provided me with an impromptu breakfast during 30cm of Acqua Alta in their dining room! Some very good local bars in this area.

I stayed in the small room at the front of the hotel above the entrance. The hotel is in a fantastic location, on a quiet canal but only a few streets away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Dorsoduro is real Venice in my opinion. 5 minute walk to Accademia art gallery and 15 minute walk to St Marks Square. I will deffinately stay here again

We have spent a fantastic time in Locanda Montin. The rooms were perfect for our familly of 7. We have taken most of our meals and diners at the Locanda because the garden of is beautiful and very pleasant . The food is great. We have been welcomed like friends and treated like kings. Thank you to Georgio and his cousin Luca who are managing the Locanda for their kindness and availability. Our Journey at Locanda Montin will remain for all our fammily much more than an hotel stay, a fantastic souvenir. I would recommand this adress only to my best friends

For Venice, this is an absolutue gem. Book early, as there are very few rooms in this mostly restaurant. The Locanda is a charming place with a nice breakfast and welcoming staff. It's probably best to take the tragetto to l'Accademia when you first arrive, because it is quite a hike from the train station. After that, it's wonderful! A special treat is eating in the garden covered by an absolutely stunning pergola.

Nice quiet location. Nice staff. Requested a queen bed and got two twins pushed together. I kept falling into the seam (not comfortable). Staff is aloof. It seems the people of venice are tired of trying to help visitors. It almost feels like we are not welcome and are just there to give our money. The Venicians outside of the city are nice and actually speak Italian. Next time I will stay on Lido or the mainland and just hit Venice on a day trip. It is romantic, but remember, it all depends upon the travellers to bring a sense of humor and calm to a busy tourist city.

I stayed in a small single room at the front of the hotel with a beautiful picture window on the canal and a planter filed with geraniums. The hotel was friendly and convenient to Zattere and Accademia, although the online map to get there was pretty sketchy. It may not be for everyone but I loved the aging vintage grace of Antica Locanda Montin -- the paintings everywhere and glorious garden. My one restaurant meal wasn't as good as I'd hoped but I would happily stay here again.

Great atmosphere in the hotel and especially in the restaurant - which is likely one of the best in Venice. Breakfast typical Italian (so do not expect anything else). Eating in the restaurant is enjoyable. Had especially a great New Years Evening 7-course dinner which was clearly outstanding. Location of the Hotel is fantastic - central enough to start activities but quiet enough to relax and enjoy. Likely fantastic in summer time due to the great (restaurant)garden behind the hotel. Hotel staff very friendly and polite - always helpful. We had a great time and can only recommend the location - no matter if travelling alone, as a couple or a whole family with kids.

I travelled with my 8-yearold granddaughter and we got an excellent stay at Antica Locanda Monting. The welcoming was excellent and Giorgio and Claudio very nice and generous to us. We loved the outside restaurant with its greenery where we had all breakfasts and dinners. The surroundings were very quiet and safe, and still close to all the places we wanted to go to. We can recommend this hotel to anyone!

I loved my room at the Locanda Montin. Beautiful view of the canal below. Windows opened up to a fairly quiet street below along the canal. I loved the sounds though; people chatting, birds singing, etc. The room was spacious and well furnished. Only had to wait once in three days for the shared bathroom down the hall. The restaurant was very good as well.

We had a balcony overlooking a canel which made the room very nice, but the shower in the shared bathroom was so small you couldn't turn around in it and it was so close to the toliet that you had to step over it to get out of the shower. The restaurant was lovely and breakfast was very good.

The antica locanda montin is delightfully unpretentious, which gives the place a warm and familiar feeling. The beds are good, and the view is fine wether it is over the canal or over the back garden. Perhaps the staff is not so attentive when it comes to information about check out procedures. The only real minus is the breakfast, which is a slimming experience, and they cannot make a cup of coffee to save their lives. However, I would recomend the place to anyone who does not care about fancy curtains and golden mirrors, but are looking for a nice, truly italian place to stay. We loved it!

It is a small quaint hotel / restaurant is a good quiet location in close proximity to both the Grand Canal and a range of good bars / restaurants. An ideal choice for those wanting a clean, basic hotel with pleasant staff. No tv's in the room, but hey, who wants that in Venice anyway! Would be very happy to recommend / go back again.

At 140 Euros for a double the hotel represents good value. Our room was however located next to a bathroom/toilet and this made it somewhat noisy during the night. A plentiful breakfast. Very friendly and obliging hotel staff. We ate at the restaurant one evening and while the meal was enjoyable, we found it overpriced.

Quality / Price ratio is very low if you consider Italy but is average in Venice. Antica Locanda Montin is in a very quiet place, 5 minutes from Galleria dell'Accademia and 10-15 min from S. Marco Square (walking). Our overall opinion about this very small hotel is anyway positive.

The quality of the accomdation was very good, and the setting was fantastic. The artwork displayed all over the hotel was a nice touch. My only problem was with the breakfast. The cereal and yoghurt were fine, but the bread was a little stale some days, and the coffee from the coffee machine was pretty nasty. Overall, the breakfast was a small factor, as I greatly enjoyed staying here

Although the surroundings were beautiful and the furnishings in the rooms were lovely, I have to admit I found the owners rather unwelcoming. We ate at their restaurant one night and the food was below average but they refused to listen to why we didn't like it. I get the feeling not a lot has changed around there since the 1970s and I think it's about time they realised that their clientele doesn't want to pay NZD$30 for a substandard macaroni cheese. Word of advice: try and get a room that doesn't overlook the canal because it's very noisy and also, don't eat in the restaurant.

I first stayed here in 1992 when it was a real find and quite a bargain. Now it's gotten air conditioning and the cost has soared. Moreover the restaurant quality is not what it was. But I still recommend it on balance for the opportunity to experience a real neighborhood in a convenient spot in the heart of Venice.

I thought the loation of the hotel was ideal and very convenient from the Ca Rezzonico stop. The hotel was very run down in appearance the rooms were extremely basic in both decoration and in facilities and there was very poor sound insulation between our room and the common toilet & corridor outside our room, we were awoken in the early hours of the morning by somebody banging their case down the stairs. The staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful enough, the staff however in the hotel restaurant were quite rude and arrogant. We stayed in the Leon D'Oro hotel in Verona for just 9 Euro extra and it was a palace towards Locande Antica
