The hotel is located in a very quite area just next to the Piazza San MArco. Simply perfect. Only the acoustic of the rooms could be improved (poor isolation with the surrounding rooms).

The room was so small for two.For the breakfast we had to walk to the nearby hotel Violino d'Oro, but it's worth to go.It provided pretty good one.Fruits varied everyday.Next time I would reserve this hotel.

The hotel was a great location, the staff very helpful. The rooms were adequate and the bath sufficient size to be comfortable. They made some very good restaurant recommendations. The Gondolier's singing up the canal was very charming as the sounds waifed to the room, not a bad note. I would definitely stay there again.

The location is great and relatively easy to reach - if you follow the directions - especially when getting there in the middle of the night with no-one to ask on the streets. The noise level is to be expected with this central location. The friendliness of the staff depended very much on who was on duty and ranked from great and helpful to almost rude. The room was very clean and the breakfast was good. Overall I can recommend this hotel.

The hotel is probably a good value for Venice. The internet did not work our first day and it seemed they had no control to fix it quickly. The location is great, but the maps provided to find the hotel were incorrect. They need to be updated. Better directions to find the hotel could be given with an accurate map.

Excellent hotel for the value. Very nice and clean rooms with A/C, which is needed in the summer in Venice. The staff was also super friendly. They allowed my mom and I to check-in early without a fee. :) The bathrooms are amazing and superbly clean. I would recommend this to all my friends who are willing to spend a little more money.

The hotel could not be more central - a couple of minutes from St Marks Square. It is fairly small but very clean and staff were helpful. Breakfast is served at a larger hotel very close to Anastasia. Overall ,I would recommend it for families or couples but not really big enough for large groups. Would definitely stay there again.

The surrounding (closeness to Piazza San Marco) was excellent and even better than we had expected! Since we did not notice any public areas, we gave only a "2", but we did not really miss this! The welcoming at the reception was very friendly, so our first impression was already very good.

The hotel was adequate for our requirements - disappointing views however although the location on the map reflected that. The location otherwise was excellent just being less than a minute to the attractions - excellent shopping and St. Mark's Square. Did not have it's own dining room however the partner hotel was just around the corner - excellent continental breakfasts although very small dining room. Would also recommend that free Wifi is offered.

Only the best for "Anastasia"! Excellent location, just 2 minutes from San Marco square, beautiful, clean, quiet rooms -- breakfast is served at a nearby hotel, just around the corner -- one of the very few hotels with a lift (absolutely critical when travelling with elders) gondola service is practically outside the front door... Superb!

You will get lost trying to find this hotel. I wish they would have emailed me directions on the easiest way to get there. There are even some locals that are not so sure where the hotel is. The rooms are very clean and close to all the historical spots in Venice. You are a minute walk from St. Marks, the bell tower, gondola rides, great restaurants, etc. This hotel is a good choice just bring a map.

We asked before - sending email - for a spacious room, as we were at the end of a 38 tour to Europe, but it doesn,t seem to interfere with the hospitality of the hotel. Unfortunately, our room was really small; I think it should be forbidden to allow such rooms to exist! We know that Venice is a city not spacious, but anyhow, I notice that there are another hotels who may offer a confort to their guests! We hardly could put our luggage inside the room! The bathroom had less than 50 cm in width and we could bath ourselfes with little moviments, otherwise we would hit the wall! The room service, otherwise, was ok. The room was cleaned everydays, they change towels and the air conditioning and tv all operated normally. We were accomodated on the 3rd floor, without any view, but the noise from the outdoor disturbed at night. It seemed the other guests did enter the area as though there were not more people on the surrounding area. The hotel does not have a restaurant and the breakfast was served in another hotel in front. The service of the breakfast was ok, although. The internet was paid, but we could access it ok.

The Hotel was nice and clean. The staff very helpfull and well educated. The room wasn't too spacious but it was comfortable enough for me and my wife(only 2 Suitcases) also very clean that is a plus. Breakfast was one of the best i had in Italy and we have stayed in 4 other hotels during our trip. Location is great only 5 min walking to Piazza San Marco, to the vaporetto stop and right outside the hotel a gondola service ride.If I will be back to Venice I will stay here again, no doubt.

The location is perfect for people wanting to be near St Marc's square. Staff were very friendly and this hotel is very good value considering its location. Note that there is a construction site next to the hotel, but my room was to the side so I was not disturbed. Any of the rooms looking out to the square the hotel is on may get noisy in the morning, check with the hotel.

Perfect quaint clean reasonably priced little hotel 4 minutes away from St. Marks square, San Marco Giardinetti Vaporetto Bus Station. Very close to the pier, elegant brand name shopping stores, & the crowds, but still tucked away in a quiet square away from hoards of walking tourists. We realized at the end of our stay that there is a quicker way to get to the hotel after you cross the bridge from the San Moise Church side. After crossing the bridge, look left and see Hotel Violino D'Oro. There is a large open archway to the left of this hotel's entrance doors. It is probably a minute faster to Hotel Anastasia if you walk through this archway, get to the end of it, and turn right, then the next left, then the next right, and voila Hotel Anastasia is immediately beside you on your right handside. If you don't go through the archway, you end up walking down the street to the right of Hotel Violino D'Oro and winding around a few more buildings before getting to the hotel. We had a nice small courtyard view, we stayed in Room 102. If we peaked our head out the window to the left, we could see between 2 buildings a small canal about 25ft away. Great complimentary strong flavorful coffee and perfect light breakfast at the hotel.

We would return! 100%! Would recommend Hotel Anastasia because of its EXCELLENT location and quitness of the rooms. We could eventually hear some "gondolieri" singing from our room (while the window was open). The receptionist in charge of our check in was not very kind, but then we had great experiences with two incredible employees (cannot remember their names but one of them was from Senegal and the other one was studying chinese). Great job you guys! Breakfast exceeded our expectations! well done! Bathrooms were recently recycled. Please bear in mind that the hotel is VERY DIFFICULT to find for the first time. "Driving" directions should be more clear on the web and perhaps a close up map would also help. After you arrive, is very easy to move around Venice. Incredible experience.

This is a terrific hotel close to San Marco plaza so after a day of sight seeing you can go back to your room and change for going out for dinner. Our room looked exactly like the pictures and there was a quiet little plaza outside our window. The staff was very friendly and even let us into our room when we got there at 10 am well before the 1 pm check in. In the breakfast room they bring you a small pitcher of steaming coffee and a small pitcher of foaming milk for a delicious cappuccino. The breakfast also has cornetto and yogurt but no fruit. The only challenge is finding the hotel. We could not locate vaporetto 82 at all and think they discontinued it. We used the #2 line to San Marco plaza. Here is how to find the hotel: get off the vaporetto at the San Marco or San Zaccaria stop and walk to San Marco plaza. Look for the large hanging sign for the Correr Museum (will be on the opposite side of the Basilica). Leave the plaza via the passage next to the museum. Walk straight until the passage comes to an end, turn right and walk about a block and you will come to a bridge. Cross the bridge, turn to your left and you will see a stone arch. Pass under the arch and see the sign for Hotel Lisbona. Turn right walk a couple steps and look up. You will see a sign for Anastasia pointing to a passage going left. Turn left and walk one block which comes to a small plaza. There will be a sign for Hotel Europa. Turn right and the hotel is right in the plaza next to Europa. This is a delightful hotel and I would highly recommend it. The hotel takes credit cards. It would be difficult for families with young children to navigate around Venice however due to the numerous bridges and steps- would also be very challenging (if not impossible) for handicapped people in wheelchairs. Also- get a good map before going because Venice is a very confusing place to visit. I also recommend Rick Steve's book on Venice and his tips on how to see the most and how to av

The hotel room was small but very clean with all the usual stuff Hair dryer,tv, mini bar etc. The continental breakfast was fine. The hotel is located in an up market part of town great for shopping plenty of designer clothes / shoe ( expensive )shops. Check in was a breeze with friendly english speaking staff, there was no problems either when we checked out early (06:00 am )The hoel was great value at €190 for 2 adults for 2 nights bed and breakfast, I would recommenend this hotel to anyone

We were here for our first anniversary and wanted a quiet, comfortable room in a decent hotel (for a decent price) and weren't disappointed! The double room was small, but there was plenty of space for two people. Hotel was very clean and very convenient. Staff were courteous & competent. There was a little street noise in the early evening, but at night it was very quiet. Appointments were comfortable, although room was on the smallish size. It was perfectly adequate for our stay, however. The elevator only goes to the 3rd floor, but there are 2 rooms on the 4th floor. We had to carry a great deal of luggage to the 4th floor- not ideal. room was very cozy with many windows that opened out to a beautiful piazza, and made the stair climb worth the effort. Breakfast was lousy- standard continental, but very low budget. Front desk attendants were good, but not fabulous. the location is prime, just around the corner from Prada, Gucci and all of the great shopping- very near San Marco. There is a fabulous coffee shop around the corner behind the big bookstore- the most amazing fresh squeezed orange juice, cappuccinos and mind-blowing chocolate croissants (brioche). Look for the busy Italians stopping in for coffee in the morning!

Great place in the center of town. No internet and no solutions for those who do need internet. Expect to spend half a day dealing with this on your own if you don't already have experience with Italian paid internet.
Staff friendly but unable to recommend a single reasonable late night café to get a restaurant. Staff next door at the Westin Europa were able to recommend three, one in each price category.
Breakfast not very healthy (nothing fresh) but tasty enough.
While Venice is a wonderful place to see, it is a horrible place to stay. You could do much, much worse than the Hotel Anastasia. If you can get a good rate on your (very small) room, I would recommend it. The bathrooms are excellent and the hotel is in good repair.

The location is very good, close to Piazza San Marco. The bathroom has good space. The only problem is how to get there. From the airport, you have to take the bus number 5 to Piazza Roma and get down in the final stop (about 15 minutes), where you can take a Vaporetto 1 or 2. It takes aroun 40 minutes until Vanizzielo stop. Once there, you have to walk about 200 m, but We recommend you call hotel to ask about directions.

My husband and I stayed in Venice at the end of July 2008 after the cruise. The location of the hotel was very good because of the proximity to St Mark's square. The room was small, but nice, clean, and quet. It was overlooking a small quart yard, which both of us liked. We picked this hotel due to its location and the price. We will recommend it for a short 1-2 night stay.

We were very pleased with the Anastasia and found it to be a good bargain. It is centrally located, very clean and quiet, and the breakfast was excellent. On the negative side, the room was small and we sometimes banged our legs on the bed when moving around the room. Guests with mobility problems might find it hard to move luggage over the steps necessary to reach the hotel. It is also not easy to find for first time visitors to Venice.

For the first time in my life i was forbidden by the receptionist to have my friend over to my room, not even for 5 minutes. when i explained i wanted to give her something in the privacy of my room he still denied it firmly. when i asked why wasn't it possible at 19:00 the only respond i got from him repeatedly was that "it is not possible!". i asked to speak to the manager regarding the incident, it is needles to say that didn't happen till my departure. breakfast was served in the entrance of the hotel, not even secluded from the reception, and the variety was poor. as breakfast was served until 10:00, at 9:59 the staff began clearing the poor buffet, evevnthough hotel guests were still sitting for breakfast. due to the impolite behavior of the receptionist and his rudeness, i do not recommend staying in the hotel.

I had a highly enjoyable stay at the Hotel Anastasia. The staff were welcoming, the location could not have been better and I was very pleased with my room. My only criticisms are that the breakfast, while there was plenty of it, was not that fantastic and that my bed was hard. Nevertheless, the staff were extremely helpful, my room was well appointed and I definitely feel that I got value for money. The location really is unbeatable and contrary to what others have said on this site, I found it extremely easy to find the hotel (following the instructions found on their website). Look further down the reviews for good instructions on how to get there! It is literally a 2 minute walk from St Marks and ideally located for almost everything in Venice! Would definately stay here again. Thank you!

I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL, IT WAS CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE... ROOMS ARE A BIT SMALL BUT THIS IS NOT UNUSUAL IN EUROPE.THE LOCATION IS GREAT, MINUTES FROM EVERYTHING. WHEN ARRIVING DO NOT TRY TO FIND IT WITHOUT ASKING...IT IS OFF THE MAIN STREETS. WOULD GO BACK... GOOD VALUE COMPARED TO, ALOT OF PLACES I LOOKED AT.

It was a bit hard to find from the map but once we did everything was ok. We had a spacious room on the 2nd floor and could see a canal from our window. Breakfast was very good with cereal, crossaints, bread, jams and very good coffee/tea. It is a 5 minute walk to restaraunts/St Marks Square and public transport (water bus).

Good value. A quiet hotel in a very good location just 200 metres from St Mark's Square.

The rooms are small but nicely furnished. The bathroom is very attractive. The breakfast could do with some attention. We do not eat cooked food and the selection of cereals was poor. There was no fresh fruit and the milk available was only Long Life (it ruins both tea and coffee). There was no internet facility.

We have lived in a Double Room. This modern room was very clean, beds are perfect. Perfect and well designed bath room. The italian breakfast was still ok. Our room has had an air-condition. Staff are very friendly. Rooms are very quiet. The hotel is perfect located - 3 minutes to walk to St. Mark's Square or next vaporetto (boat) station. We would be come back again ...

Excellent little hotel. The breakfast room is small, and there isn't really a lobby area to sit in, but I wouldn't even talk about it except for the questionnaire... Wonderful location, great staff, pretty, clean room (mine was next to the elevator, so the noise-level depended on the type of guests coming or going)... definitely worth repeating.

Usually I hesitate to write a review, but not in this case. The Anastasia far surpassed my expectations, and was the nicest hotel experience I have had on my 4 trips to Venice over the last two years. The staff is terrific, and their English is much better than my Italian, which helped quite a bit. I stayed in room 105, which was neat as a pin and had a huge bathroom by Italian standards. The gals that take care of you for breakfast are very nice and make sure you are well cared for. I truly hope that room 105 is available each time I return to La Serenissima in the future. Thanks, Anastasia, you were terrific! Please tell the girls they make a killer cappuccino!

The annual Carnival was on at the time of our stay which inflated the room rates. Room was nice and clean but overpriced.

My wife and I throughly enjoyed our stay at the Anastasia. It is quite centrally located, yet secluded, a short walk to San Marco, or the Acadamia in the other direction. The rooms are small but well appointed and the staff is ever helpful. The breakfast is OK, nothing fancy. It should be noted that while the hotel advertises internet access, it is dail-up at 20cents per minute EU and you need to get a phone cord if you did not bring one.

Everything was fine except the very small size of the single room with its absence of any kind of view and the lack of fresh bread and real coffee for breakfast. It would be great if Venere.com could ask hotels if the rooms have any kind of view included in the price...

The hotel is located close to St Marco square, the only plus point. Price too high for an old hotel room, 50% higher than what I paid in other parts of Italy. But then, this IS Venice. Everything is expensive. No shower cubicle. The shower head over the long bath is only hand held and imagine showering with only one hand free. Breakfast is of poor choice and served in a very small area. No internet connections, not as advertised. But the staff are helpful and not rude. If I ever return to Venice, I will look elsewher for better value.

Glad we had researched directions from other guests! but location was brilliant, 5 mins with case from water bus stop, hotel located in quiet square but 3 mins from St Marks Square. Hotel was clean, staff very helpful, breakfast basic - cereal, bread/croisant/jam but adequate. Rooms on small side, shower etc cleaned daily. Not a luxury hotel, but for a medium priced hotel very close to St Mark's Square this hotel is good value for money

The concierge recommended a lovely restaurant called Alla Madonna near the Rialto bridge that was wonderful. We also enjoyed the breakfasts at the hotel. Even though it was around the corner from a busy Gondolla area it was pretty quiet. Our room was on the top floor and had windows on 2 sides which made it airy and light.

This hotel is a good value in Venice. The rooms are comparable to what you'd get on a cruise ship, but they're functional and have all the amenities one would need for a stay in Venice. The location is hard to beat. It's easy to find, very close to all the major attractions, but most importantly it's tucked away in a small square so that when you're in the hotel you don't feel to be in tourist central.

We were very happy with Hotel Anastasia. The location was absolutely outstanding - we shared a courtyard with a 5 Star Westin and were in the same location as another reknown 5 star hotel. The staff was excellent and really made our stay very pleasant. They were very professional, friendly and helpful. Daily breakfast was great - lots to choose from. It was a nice touch that the staff helped my husband put together a tray for me one morning when I was unable to go downstairs in time. Be warned, that the hotel is not easy to find. A more detailed location map would have been helpful or more specifics on how to locate the courtyard Anastasia is located in(ie cross the bridge beside Hotel Bauer at the Church of S.Moise and on the other side turn left immediately and you'll see a sign at the end of the walkway for the hote). Very important since Venice is very tricky to get around, especially with your luggage. Our biggest surprise/disappointment was that the room was much smaller than we expected. If you are not comfortable with a room that is only a few feet wider than the bed itself and a bathroom that only has approx 1 foot between the wall and fixtures (sink, toilet) this is not the place for you. If, however, you are willing to trade off room size for location then you'll be quite happy.

Excellent choice for our stay in Venice. Very comfortable hotel, great location, clean and quiet. Newly remodeled. Great breakfast too. Only problem was a lack of shower curtain or glass to prevent the whole bathroom from getting wet. The staff was very helpful and recommended great restaurants. We are a middle aged married couple and were travelling with parents. They also found the hotel very comfortable (except for the shower curtain problem). We would definitely go back there again.
