Venice is expensive, of course - this hotel cost more than much better ones elsewhere. Basically it's just a room, there are no public areas other than Reception. The room was small, but perfectly adequate. Noise from other guests was a problem if we were in before about 11 at night. Take your mosquito spray with you.

I stayed 5 days in Venice and they offered me a much better room then I originally payed for. Nice welcome and pleasent stay in a lovely neighbourhood wich is easy to reach on foot nowadays from the Piazzale Roma and the railwaystation.

A good place for a quick stay in Venice. Rooms are okay, as is the price (bargain). It can be a bit noisy, as you can hear the talk from the Lobby. But after 22pm it's quiet, so that is okay. Very helpful and very friendly people at the desk! Nice surroundings. Many cafes nearby where you can have an excellent Italian breakfast. Try fresh fruits from the nearby market on the street. Overall: The "Henry" is recommended!

I recommended Allogi Henry 100%, very nice service, nice people, near the train station and near the vaporetto station. Enough restaurants around. I have just one little problem, I booked for a single room with bathroom, an the bathroom was out of the room. Everything was ok after all. They made my first time in Venice absolutely comfortable.

********************************************************************************** English: + : Situation - : The hotel has problems with the internet reservation system. As we arrived for us and for two other couples the rooms were note reserved. We had to sleep outside the hotel in a loudly and ugly room without window. (Very romantic :-( ). The staff was very unfriendly and showed no excuses for this inconvenient. The last day we wanted to use the WC after the check out. They refused. The last time in Venice I slept cheaper, but better.

Pros - price, and location. Cons - staff, size of rooms. The hotel for July in Venice was adequate. The ability to not have to travel to the island by bus, train or boat is a plus. The hotel staff however left much to be desired. The staff was not rude, but they weren't really around much. When we went to check-in at around 10:00 pm (website says you can check-in until midnight) there was no one there so after a long day of traveling we had to wait for someone to show up. They never came into the rooms to clear out the trash can let alone change the linens, and this part didn't really bother us, but may bother others. When we went to check-out at around 9:00 am there was nobody there again, and we saw a few sets of keys and a note, people just left there keys on the counter, and we did the same. The room is tiny, and there are no amenities in the room, but for the time of year and price it was adequate for us. I would spend the extra euros to have a private bathroom if you can afford it.

Quiet small hotel with limited facilities. Staff was courteous but avoid the big push to 'sell' you a restaurant selection. We didn't end up with the 2 rooms selected (2 business travellers had to stay in one larger room. Seemed expensive for the quality of the hotel, but hard to tell since Venice was heavily booked at the time.

The hotel is located too far from the centre. It was very difficult to get there. Because of its location, the neighborhood is really awful and dark. When a reservation is made I would suggest to send a big map with the indications to get there in a easy way.

We stayed 2 nights in Venice in this hotel. The first night, the room we booked was not available (overbooked), so they gave us a small appartment in another location that worked with the Aloggi Henry. That place was dirty (bathroom) the towels were dirty and old. So we asked to change the room. They gave us another small appartment a little bit cleaner. No discount for this, we had no choise to accept that. The 2nd night, we got our rooms tha we paid for. Here everything was ok.

TERRIBLE!!! We reservated a dobble bed with shared bathroom and we get follow: We arrived early in the morning, so we get no chance to see the room, but we had to pay for all nights to get the Key! In the evenig we came back bevore 7 and saw our romm the first time. It seems smaller than a broom closet. Less than 6 square meter! HORROR! Two very used and small standalone beds (diagonally), a small table with a chair (but no place to use it) and a small cupboard. No place to open the bag. The small bathroom with mouldy walls was at the end of th corridor, but we had it only for us. No staff at the reception! But it should open till 9 pm! Next morning we had a stressfull contend with the manager for a room with a double bed. First we had to claime our money back, befor getting a better room. Hotel Alloggi Henry is a really big money-racket. They act in bad faith.

This was our first stay (my wife & me).Very friendly and helpful service and although there were no meals or breakfast available at the hotel there was an excellent coffee/hot choc etc machine available at 0.50 euros a go. Plenty of good cafes and restuarants only minutes away. Best thing:- Very quiet, civilized, little hotel. It would have been helpful if we'd had better instructions on finding the hotel as initially we got lost looking for it!

Good location, good bed and shower room (with hair dryer, though it gave up on me). Didn't try the coffee machine but saw that it did work. Expect a wait if you try to get hold of the person in charge between 8 and 9 p.m. (supper time!) and probably at lunch time too. Outside the door it says "please ring" but we couldn't find the bell, and if the person in charge isn't there (see above) he wouldn't hear it anyway, so make sure you have the phone number.

We found this hotel to be in a lovely area, with lots of restaurants and shops about a 5min walk away. No problems walking around the streets late at night, never felt unsafe. I stayed here just one night. The place is very basic, and inexpensive. The room was small, a bit stuffy, and had a bathroom down the hall. I was unsure where my towels were, as they were not in the room. I used the ones hanging up, which looked unused, especially at 4am. Sorry if you stayed here the same night and got wet towels! My room had a fan in stashed in the closet, which was needed, and a single electrical outlet, which was not securely attached to the wall. Plugging in a phone charger required some balancing so the wires didn't hang out. Despite the issues, I felt like I got what I paid for. I didn't spend much time in the room, and the sleeping facilities were adequate.

We had an OK stay at this "hotel". The directions given to use were excellent and quickly reached from the station. We found the room to be very noisy in the morning with "building" going on outside starting at about 6am. The place is within walking distance which we did as we found the water taxis too expensive and very crowded. Would probably not stay there again although we did enjoy Venice.

Why do you call "Alloggi Henry" a hotel? It is a cheap Italian brothel run by two whores (one by the name Dina, the other is unknown) and two pimps (one is named Lorenzo, the other refused even to introduce himself). The staff was extremely rude and incompetent and not supportive at all. The A/C, TV set were not functional; rooms were extremely small and hot. I understand that Italian economy is in decline (it is a polite way of saying that it is in deep shit), but you should not think that you can screw your customers and "blame" them for your problems. Venere.com - never again use this site to make bookings! Information about the hotel provided on the website was utterly wrong, except for the proximity to the railroad station. The place is located in a small smelly corner of Venice, which is not as quiet as advertized. Despite all of that, Venice (but not the venicians) is beautiful!

Lovely hotel worth much more than just 1 star, we believe this is because it doesn't offer breakfast. However there are numerous cafes and bakeries sorrounding to pick somethiing up in the mroning. We got off to a bad start because nobody was at the reception when we arrived. (They only came once we phoned them - $$$). The room was nice: quite, clean, spacious and there was a dining room with a TV (no cooking facilities though). The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the train station and 20 minutes walk from St Marks square - so a pretty good location. When we came to leave nobody was at the reception - so once again we had to spend $$$ phoning them to meet us. Some staff spoke marginal English but some staff spoke no English.

This is a lighthearted place to stay. You were left alone, but equally if you had a problem they were happy to help. Laurence was a fun and excellent host. Our room was very small and not one of the ones shown in the photographs which was initially disappointing. However, the hotel was situated in a lovely quiet part of Venice, and on returning to your room in the evening it was always clean with a beautifully made bed and clean towels. There are no public areas apart from the small hallway, but eating breakfast in the local cafes is a must in Venice so it was great not to be tied into breakfast. We would happily recommend it.

alloggi henry is a small hotel with no frills in a backstreet very close to one of the main tourist paths. my biggest complaint is that the room description says that all rooms come with a private bathroom but I booked a triple and didn't find out until i arrived that it had a shared bath. the rooms do not have air-conditioning and no screens on the windows means plenty of mosquito bites in the middle of the night if you decide to leave the window open.

This was a very nice hotel to stay at in a very pleasant quiet part of Venice easy to reach from the bus station. Very good price quality relationship and some real interesting small restaurants nearby (fi Osteria Ladroni, Fondamenta della Sensa; this small restaurant not only offered exquisite food but also made us feel as if we had entered into a Fellini movie.) Allogi Henry is an excellent small hotel for couples who want to visit Venice in a relaxed way, donot need a fancy hotel and want to stay away from tourists traps like StMarco. Rob Meloen

There isn't anybody in the hotel at night. If you get there late in the night..... You might spend a good while outside before someone comes to give you the key. The rooms don't have a phone, so if anybody wants to reach you, the reception tells them you don't want to be disturbed when you didn't leave any instruction, and won't even tell you someone aws trying to call you (which happened to me). This is a sign of very poor seriousness. The walls are like cigarette paper, and you can hear anything happening in the corridor and in the neighbour rooms. Otherwize, be aware that this "hotel" doesn't even propose a breakfast.... Fortunatly, rooms are clean and the hotel is very well located. I find the prices applicated in this hotel are very disproportionate with the quality of service. I know this is Venice, BUT, honestly, this is exagerated. No choice because reserving at the ultimate minute, but I wouldn't go back to this place.

Very ok, good value, excellently located near the San Marcuola vaporetto stop. Clean and proper. Lorenzo in the reception is a fine character, he really knows how to take care of his hotel guests. There is a certain charm in a place with just 8 rooms; you feel more like a house guest than a hotel visitor.

Since we were staying 3 days, the nice lady who greeted us at the hotel (owners sister we later learned) told us that a new apartment was available at the same price.Great! so, we took off with the Leonardo, the "bellman", crossed the grand canal, up some crazy little alleys, and in about ten minutes, arrived at the apt..after getting our bearings, which took a while, we did fine, living amongst the venetians in a real neighborhood.close by to little restaurants, bars, local shops, etc. Our second trip to venice, so it was fine not being in the hotel, but maybe not for just everyone:confusing at first,no amenities, and nothing connected to a hotel stay:i.e., telephone, internet connections, working tv, etc. You are on your own, in a different part of the city, so be adivised if this is for you..

This hotel was not our first choice in Venice, but they had an available triple, so we grabbed it. We did not have a map to the hotel so we had trouble finding it, but after calling for directions the wonderful, charming host, Lorenzo, came out looking for us. He took wonderful care of us and immediately rectified any concerns we had with the room. It was off the beaten path, but quiet and charming. Offering a breakfast would have been a plus, but overall we had no complaints.

Great place for a simple no frills friendly and quite stay in Venice. Excellent location if you want to get just off the main tourist trail. It was easy to find with friendly welcome. Will go back next time in Venice.

The hotel was very close to the train station about 10 min and the map is perfect. we had no trouble finding the place. The room was small but very clean and quiet. The responsible at the desk was very nice and helpful, always available. We showed up very late at night and he came to welcome us and was really nice. Its not a fancy place but the price was very reasonable and we were at walking distance of everything. No problem to pay by credit card. We recommended this hotel, specially if you are in a budget but want to be in venise and be able to walk to the main attractions.

This was the noisiest place we have been in Italy. The owners have no respect for people in room. After asking them twice to lower their voices, they still shouted and spoke very loudly. Add on top that the rooms are 12'X 12' (closet size), breakfast was supposed to be included and was not, that made for an overall bad experience.

very difficult to find-took us over an hour wandering around backstreets when it was much nearer to the main streets of Canareggio. A better map and some directions on the website would have saved a lot of time. We were about to give up when we happened to ask a restauant owner who just happened to be a friend. very friendly but had to share a bathroom with one other room. Quite good for reasonably priced eateries nearby and only 4-5 mins walk to hte vaporetto stop.

The hotel was fine, at a very good location and with a good relationship between price and quality. Just one thing: the shower was too small for two people ^_^

staff excellent, very very sympatic and cool. But people in the other rooms not really quiet ( 10 young spanish, people who take shower at 4.00pm , people who "cried on the night their love"..) and rooms with an extern bathroom no write in the web..

We reserved a room with bath in February. When we arrived in July, we were told by the manager that we had actually reserved a room with shared bath, and a room with bath would be 20 Euros per day extra. After we made it clear that sharing a bath was unacceptable, we agreed to a room that shared a bath only with an unoccupied room. The bathroom door could neither be locked nor fully closed. The second night, the unoccupied room was rented to four young men. Since the bathroom was not secure, we were unwilling to stay in the room, and demanded to be moved. After a long, loud argument with the manager, we were moved to a room with bath. The room is convenient to both the Santa Lucia train station and vaporetto.

This was a nice well priced hotel in a lovely location. The rooms are exceptionally small but very clean and comfortable and more than sufficient to sleep in. Fans were provided for teh hot weather. There are no public areas except reception so it was hard to rate them. It is not staffed 24 hours, Henri shows up to book you in and to check out the rest of the time you call him if you want or need anything.

A small hotel in the centre of Venice makes you feel like you live there. Very reasonable price compared with other hotels, with helpful and friendly staff. Easy access to the Grand Canal with lots of small bars and restaurants within easy reach. Only a stone's throw from the masses, but nowhere near them!

We arrived about 10 pm to find the hotel locked and until one of the guests finally answered the doorbell, we were not sure we would get into the hotel at all. There was a phone number on a piece of paper to call Henry, but we had no cell phone - we ended up using the key (behind the flower pot) to get into our room and checked in the following morning. Once that was resolved, it was a satisfactory lodging.

Only 1 bridge from the station and one of few bridges with a flattened ramp for suitcases etc. Handy to internet and laundry facilities, shops and market and reasonable restaurants. The room was definitely "snug" but adequate and quiet while we were there. Coming from NZ everything in Venice is expensive for us but the hotel is in line with the rest of the city. The staff were friendly and helpful, good cheap coffee machine in foyer. We had a great time.
